PLAYBOOK CAMERA ERROR 4003

After UPDATE 2.1.0.1314 MY BLACKBERRY PLAYBOOK  camera doesn't work anymore. Screen gets black and I am getting error 4003. Can't resolve problem alone. Anybody knows what's happened and what I need to do next to activate my camera again? Please, help. Very disappointed

Get in touch with Playbook support. You may have to re-install the OS.

    My playbook camera has stopped working and gives the error message 4003. I have the latest software updates and have tried a security wipe with no luck.
    I can not find any working links to BlackBerry Playbook support. II have no warranty and do not know how to go about getting this fixed. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Error 4003 is a hardware problem, you can read more of this issue in this thread.
    If you are on Koodo, contact your PlayBook support number and initiate an RMA. If they say your device is past warranty, ask for the problem to be fixed, they've fixed it for many and it is a known issue. BlackBerry has been good to replace these devices.

    I would suggest you to go read these threads, it says here that it is could be a hardware problem.

    Pls Help! Does anyone know why I'm getting camera error 4003 in the camera application and how to fix?

    Call BlackBerry Customer Service to initialize an RMA for warranty repair. From what I have read, this is caused by one of two things, a corrupt software update that affects the camera or a physically defective camera. Customer Service may walk you through a complete Operating System reload or just exchange the unit for a new one. 
    While the PlayBook is running, you can try a forced reboot reset by pressing and holding the power and volume + button at the same time until the tablet's screen shuts off and reboot is initialized. Chances are this won't fix it but I have read that it can in certain instances. In my opinion I believe that you need to exchange the tablet for a new one.

    I have blackberry playbook 32 GB and it was working fine, and now i have facing this problem of camera. Camera is not working and giving 4003 error.
    i contact to one of carphonewhare house store because in UK i brought it from them, but they said they can send it for repair and it gona cost me 40 pounds. I have Tried every single thing, and software update as well but the problem is still there. I have researched online and i found out that this is a software/hardware fault which blackberry accepts itself. Please guide me in this regards what help i can get, because carphonewhare house told me to contact blackberry directly.

    that is a hard ware error and some have replaced the camera to resolve it

  • Blackberry playbook OS version 2.1.0.1088 camera error ( error.4003 picture)

    As my first boot on my playbook i had to get a newer OS version version 2.1). i tried to take a picture but i can't take any pictures as it comes with an error message (error.4003 picture). how can i fix this? if it can not be fixed how can i download the old OS version of the playbook ( version 1.0)

  • Camera App - Not Working "error.4003"

    I am receiving the error.4003 for the camera app. This affects both camera and video modes. The front facing camera does not work through the camera app, but works fine if used via the video chat app. This appears to be a software error as the touch screen interface controls in the camera app are not completely functional or have a severe response time lag as compared to normal touch screen response time.
    Apparently worked fine a month ago. Pictures taken looked great. 
    At first the error message received on the camera app stated camera was already in use. Not the error above is all I get. 
    I've done research via the Web and the only responses thus far is to send this into RIM. But too many people are experiencing this error and the posted ideas on other forums are either questionable or IMO not acceptable. 
    Also the screen capture cameramode works fine. No problems.

    From everything I hear 4003 is a "hardware" malfunction.
    It happened to me as well right AFTER the 1032 OS upgrade - how's that possible>?
    Probably blows a resister or something.
    I had warranty left -and got a brand new Playbook in return this week. The turnaround took only a few days by FedEx.
    Why so fast? It can't be fixed - so they're just tossing the old ones and replacing them.
    I received a brand new identical model (32g) - however it wanted to go to the 1032 upgrade step during intial setup.
    i was hoping to avoid that. Did it anyway - no choice.
    Happy to report - cameras are both working.
    NO explanation of the hardware fault by RIM - what it is or what causes it.
    If you have warranty - just call support. They're breaking it somehow - it's not YOU!
    Get it replaced before your warranty runs out.

  • 5MP Playbook Camera Blackscreen - Errors - Hardware or NDK Game Caused Glitch?

    Hi. I own a 64 GB Playbook. Last week my outer 5MP camera stopped working. When I accessed the camera application the screen was black.The camera record button and camera/video buttons appear. 
    The black screen of doom

    If I pressed the button to snap a picture, the button would become disabled and hang for about 20 seconds. No image is visible from this camera. The screen is completely black.
    Video Cam
    The video screen on the 5MP cam also is black, and I can only access the context menu (top), and record button, and cam/video toggle buttons.
    I cannot view anything from the camera.
    Things that do work: able to switch view to front facing 3MP cam. The image shows. I can take pic, record vid with front facing cam. I am able to use context menu to go into my videos or pictures folders.
    Device Specs:
    OS Version: 1.0.7.3312 
    Free Storage: 26 GB
    Videos: 407
    Pictures: 879
    The errors I am getting.

    "Camera Error" - There was an error creating your picture. Please try again.
    "Camera Error" - The camera is in use, please close any other instances of the camera and try again. 
    There were no other applications actively running on the device when I got the second error.
    I thought a security wipe would somehow fix this issue. But it has not.
    When This Started
    I first noticed my 5MP camera was not working after I finished playing "Spider-Man: Total Mayhem HD". I think I spent an entire hour playing the game. I've owned this Playbook since it launched, and have not had any problems with the camera or hardware. There is not physical damage to the 5mp camera.
    During gameplay, there were elements of the ui that took "screenshots" or "screen captures" of fight sequences. I have a feeling this may have something to do with why my camera is not working now. My understanding is that this game is developed using NDK. I fear that a bug in the game, and how it handles these screen captures may have affected my Playbook's OS and my camera.
    Security wipe, refresh did not fix the issue. Still getting the same errors.
    Please help me! I own a 64GB Playbook without a working camera

    First I would like you to do a Back Up of your PlayBook using your computer and BlackBerry Desktop Software.
    This can be downloaded for free from http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/
    After the Back Up is complete I need you to unplug your PlayBook and then push and hold down the Power Button until the unit Force Powers Off.
    Now, while Desktop Software is still open on your computer and the PlayBook Powered Off, Connect the PlayBook to your computer.
    You should see and error screen from Desktop Software pop up that has the options to Retry, Update, or Cancel.
    QUICKLY choose the Update option.
    This will erase all the information off of your PlayBook and Re-Write the Software back onto it. Once it's complete your PlayBook will need to go back through the setup wizard, and you can then perform a restore using Desktop Software to return your information. The only thing that won't come back after the restore are the apps that you downloaded from App World but they can be easily Re-Installed using the My World feature in App World.

  • Camera errors since 1032 upgrade

    After 2 update procedures to 1032 my camera still does NOT work.
    Persistent error 4003. I also get the error "another app is using camera " when accessing Video Chat app.
    I'm told that error is hardware related - but have a hard time believing it.
    I have 3 weeks on my one  year warranty and wil probably demand a replacement if no solution soon.
    Hey a new tablet that works would be nice.

  • Camera Error

    I need help. When I open the camera app, it says "camera error: camera is being used ".. My friend had reset the whole playbook many times, but still shows the same error. In addition to this problem, I cannot use the video chat. Audio call is okay. Please help!!! Thank you.

  • Playbook camera

    I bought my playbook in October, and it worked perfectly well up until OS 2 update. Now there is a camera error message that keeps popping up when ever I try to use the camera, camera hasn't work since the update. Can someone help me please?

    I did many times, I even delete and reinstall the software.

  • Front camera error on my BBPLAYBOOK

    on my playbook when i try 2 open my front camera its not opening . its showing camera error & the camera is in use .close any other instances of the camera and try again... 

    Best thing to do with any apparent hardware fault is
    1. Restart (you already tried that)
    if that does not work
    2. Backup data and perform a Security Wipe (Settings, Security, Security wipe) and set your playbook up again.
    if that does not work
    3. Debrick.
    If debrick does not work, call your country's RIM support number ( www.blackberry.com/playbook )Tell them you have already reinstalled the OS using Desktop Software (because that is what they will walk you through otherwise) Depending in whether you are in warranty you will then have various repair/replace/trashcan options. 
    Debrick.
    Backup your data the best way you know how.
    Make sure you know your Blackberry ID and password
    Turn Playbook right off (i.e. Shut Down til black)
    Download latest Blackberry Desktop Software to your PC or Mac and start it up
    The next bit happens very quickly.
    Connect the Playbook by USB cable.
    If the red light starts to glow or playbook starts up, press the Off button til it goes off.
    Because Playbook is off you will get an error message basically saying Retry or Update  (on Mac it  may say Repair rather than Update)
    Quickly select the Update (or Repair) option
    The Playbook will start to get a new OS that will take al least an hour to download via the PC
    Follow the registration process using your current Blackberry ID
    Add back your email accounts etc.
    Reinstall your apps from App World, My World.

    I have been having trouble with my BlackBerry PlayBook for months now. When we I try to take a picture it displays blank and error 4003 comes up. Plssssss help. Am in Nigeria where can I get it fixed? (2) may playbook also does not connect to any system, I cant take out my first files so as to allow me do a factory reset. I really need assistance. Thanks

    Now get you, thanks I remember setting it up in Nigeria but I selected UK from the list of country  option I got because Nigeria was not supported. Fingers crossed when I am done saving my files I will carry out the security wipe.
