Playbook camera macro focus

is the playbook camera focus software based or mechanical? if software based will it be enhanced in the future to allow macro (closeup) focus. in my work closeup video is far more useful than distance video. hopefully it is software based so this can be addressed.

Camera stopped focusing -- help?

I've had my Droid Charge for a little over a year. A little while (~6 weeks?), the camera stopped focusing. It is locked in closest possible focus. My guess would be it's locked in macro mode, switching between macro, and face-focus, and autofocus makes no difference. Touching a place on the picture to ask the camera to focus there has no effect.
I installed Ultra Magnifier a while ago, and wonder if it somehow screwed up a setting. Uninstalling it hasn't changed anything, so don't know whether the camera problem is related to Ultra Magnifier or not.
I don't use the camera a lot, so at first assumed this was just one of those temporary glitches that I commonly have with my phone (like it will lock up, or refuse to answer, or something). Can't tie the problem to any other event (like installing a particular app).
Re-setting the phone, then setting it up again, is more of a hassle then I'm willing to put up with just to get the camera to work. I have other pocket cameras that always take better pictures than my phone anyway.

On my Charge PHONE camera when I touch the screen to pre-focus it focuses, turns the focus Square from white to green, and gives a beep when it is focused. It takes about 4-6 seconds until this happens.
BUT I also found that pre-focusing is not necessary because whenever I touch the camera icon to take a photo the camera FIRST focuses on the area in the white square, turns it green and gives the same beep denoting focus. Then it takes the photo. This means that if you have moved the white square away from where you pre-focused you have just lost that pre-focus.
Now if you want to point the camera on an object in the middle of the screen BUT you would like the focus to be on a persons face or an object on the right or left of whatever is in the middle just touch that area but it takes 4-5 seconds for it to pre-focus but don't move the camera's white square away from the area you just pre-focused.
I find it easier to point the camera directly at a persons face and, forget the pre-focus, just take the picture because when you take the photo the camera does BOTH the focus and the picture taking.
I think with this "little" camera you might be happier if you set the FOCUS MODE to AUTO FOCUS and METERING to SPOT so the main focus is where the white square is located.

Macro focusing problems

my 6 month old 4S suddenly stopped focusing very well, especially in macro mode. any suggestions?

Yikes, if this wasn't happening before you dropped it, then you may certainly want to have Apple take a look at it. Since there are moving parts involved in the focus mechanism, something may have been knocked out of alignment by the impact.
You may also want to try grabbing the iGlasses demo, which will allow you disable auto-focus and adjust the camera's focus manually.

N900 Camera: Video focus same problem as on N97?

Ok so i've seen a few threads querying about the 2nd camera. Not asking about that. I noticed that back when i was using the N97 that when you tried to zoom in on images or even writing on the wall during a video recording, the camera's focus wouldn't auto update. however when you are taking simple stills, the camera tries to focus before you take a shot.
to me i see no difference between the two and by that i mean the same problem has been ported over to the n900.
Anyone else notice this? has this been mentioned on maemo.org or other sites were developers are aware of this?

So generous people; thank you for your time.
I visited the camera store and we discovered that my camera lcd was set to the maximum brightness level which completely distorted any understanding of my exposure. What I now see on the lcd in terms of ligt and shadow is very similar to what I see on my computer screen.
Maybe you can shed light on this:
I also may need to just upgrade my imac. On the camera store's late model imac my images were tac sharp but on my imac they look quite soft and still have less light.
There is also still some difference in terms of color settings. My camera's colors have a brighter pinkish tone and on the camera store's imac and mine the tone is yellowish orange.
I will try DPReview and Nikoncafe. My first step is to reset my cameras to factory defaults and then upload and compare.

Z10 camera not focusing,not ringing at times and randomly calling out

I'm having issues with my camera not focusing, just started yesterday, also at times incoming calls will not ring and go directly to voice mail, and randomly calling someone with out showing it called

Playbook camera icon disappeared!

My playbook camera icon disappeared leaving an empty space in the "All" menu. I looked in the "Media" subfolder, it was there but then I clicked on it and it disappeared as well. The camera still works indirectly through the picture folders. As this native icon is normally undeletable, any idea why it vanished and how to recuperate the icon? Restart and reboot did not fix it. I got the latest OS 1.0.8.6067.

Tandberg mxp 6000 camera auto focus

Hello sir,
I saw the issue form Tandberg mxp 6000 camera auto focus.
when I zoom the camera it focus image blurring after zoom out fully its blurring few minutes and its clear but its not focus correctly. I change camera and check the different location its same. conference room room size is approximately 15 to 18 feet length. pls tell any other option to solve the issue. I also do software upgrade and downgrade also.

Does it matter? NO REGISTER packets arrived to server, i was sniffing traffic.
Problem solved just after i entered valid DNS server address in IP parameters. Why would it need DNS if i'm using direct IP addresses...
Anyways, my SIP server (Asterisk) does not support duo-video and because there is two video streams in SDP message, it choses wrong RTP port and streams other's side video to presentation channel.

IPhone 5 camera stopped focusing.

I have an iPhone 5 and 2 days ago the rear camera stopped focusing. It doesn't pulse continuously like it was to focus, the image is just blurry if taken closer than 6 inches. This is the second iPhone 5 I have had. The first the battery was swelling. My one year warranty is up. Does anyone know of any ways to fix this without having to buy a brand new phone.

PLAYBOOK CAMERA ERROR 4003

After UPDATE 2.1.0.1314 MY BLACKBERRY PLAYBOOK camera doesn't work anymore. Screen gets black and I am getting error 4003. Can't resolve problem alone. Anybody knows what's happened and what I need to do next to activate my camera again? Please, help. Very disappointed

Get in touch with Playbook support. You may have to re-install the OS.

Playbook camera error 4003 error message

My playbook camera has stopped working and gives the error message 4003. I have the latest software updates and have tried a security wipe with no luck.
I can not find any working links to BlackBerry Playbook support. II have no warranty and do not know how to go about getting this fixed. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Error 4003 is a hardware problem, you can read more of this issue in this thread.
If you are on Koodo, contact your PlayBook support number and initiate an RMA. If they say your device is past warranty, ask for the problem to be fixed, they've fixed it for many and it is a known issue. BlackBerry has been good to replace these devices.

Front and Rear-Facing Cameras not focusing...

Hello all,
Neither my front facing or rear-facing cameras will focus. I've tried every single hint and tip to try and get it to focus including restarting and a full restore, to no success.
I was wondering if this is a common issue and whether or not Apple will repair it and how much it is likely to cost? I was also wondering if it's a fault with the cameras or something internal like the motherboard?

Macro focus on iPhone 5s no longer works

My iPhone 4 took fantastic macro photos. Jump to I finally upgraded to an iPhone 5s and it did macro images at the beginning but after the first update, it no longer wants to focus. I know it CAN since it will focus to the correct spot then jumps back to "uhhhh I can't focus on that" mode. Is this a hardware issue or software issue? Also, why is this: iPhone 5 camera autofocus question the only discussion I can find on the topic. I can't be the only one.

If you are having difficulty with the focus on your iPhone’s camera, I would suggest troubleshooting using the steps found in this article -

Specifically -
Camera isn't functioning or has undesired image quality
If the screen shows a closed lens or black image, force quit the Camera app.
If you do not see the Camera app on the Home screen, try searching for it in Spotlight. If the camera does not show up in the search, check to make sure that Restrictions are not turned on by tappingSettings > General > Restrictions.
Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from any obstructions. Use a microfiber polishing cloth to clean the lens.
Cases can interfere with the camera and the flash. Try gently cleaning the lens with a clean dry cloth or removing the case if you see image or color-quality issues with photos.
Try turning iPhone off and then back on.
Tap to focus the camera on the subject. The image may pulse or briefly go in and out of focus as it adjusts.
Try to remain steady while focusing:
Still images: Remain steady while taking the picture. If you move too far in any direction, the camera automatically refocuses to the center.
Note: If you take a picture with iPhone turned sideways, it is automatically saved in landscape orientation.
Video: Adjust focus before you begin recording. You can also tap to readjust focus while recording. Exiting the Camera application while recording will stop recording and will save the video to the Camera Roll.
Note: Video-recording features are not available on original iPhone or iPhone 3G.
If your iPhone has a front and rear camera, try switching between them to verify if the issue persists on both.

N8 camera auto focus after PR 1.1

i noticed my camera on the n8 has problems autofocusing sometimes after PR 1.1 . Unless i'm wrong, when the red box in the middle turns green, it means that it is in focus? At times, it stays in the red box . I let go of the camera key and attempt to refocus. SOmetimes it goes back to normal and focuses, sometimes it turns red again. Is there any solution to this?

the camera is just not designed to take photos from two inches. 4-5 inches is the closest you can hope for. it's not a microscope.

And its really frustrating. I am trying to take some Good images but i have noticed that my phone camera is not able to take image properly. When i am trying to take close shots. camera is not able to focus. And it make image blurry. Specially during close shots.

I am instagram user and i have seen how peoples take high quality images through iphone. But i cant due to focus problem.
