Playbook - can't select country or get past set up!

I'm so frustrated with this device! I want to use it but I can't get past the set up.
I get to the point where it has a drop screen to select Country but there is nothing there to pick from. As a result I can't agree to the blackberry agreement and can't do anything with the actual playbook.
I've had it for a week now. I tried with the tech boys at work but they couldn't figure it out. I'm not very tech savy but can normally figure this stuff out!!
PLEASE HELP!

Hi All,
I have also similar kind of issue - Country name not populating in drop down list.
Solution:
- Tried and tested solution
While connecting to Wi-Fi just check for the Authentication Type. I have tried with "WPA-Psk/WPA-Psk2" and it works for me. Please make sure that the Router and the BB Playbook both were using the same authentication type. Default value for routers are generally "WEP" so change it.
- Solution not tested but found in some forums.
I have heard one more solution. Shutdown your BB. Then install Desktop Manager in your Computer (PC). Connect you BB playbook with your Laptop. Once your Playbook is connected then only start it. Hopefully it will load and solve your problem. This does not even require Wi-Fi connection.

  • HT1414 Can't get past set up page with new iPhone

Just got a new iPhone from Apple store. Tried to restore from backup, but can't get past the "connect to iTunes" screen on my phone. I can see my phone in iTunes, have synched it to my computer, installed phone updates from my computer, but still can't get past the "connect to ITunes" screen. I am connected...I can't figure out what's wrong that I can't get past this screen to my home screen.

I went into the Apple store and the guy fixed it somehow using icloud (strange since I backed up to itunes not icloud) but I'm not complaining!

  • Can't get past set up with ios7

I have an iphone 4 and just updated from ios 4.3 to ios7. it went through the full restore but the phone won't work. It's showing the Hello>slide to set up screen. then I choose wifi then I get to a restore screen. I've restored a few times now and it just doesn't get past this. It's not even working as a phone now and I'm really worried that I've lost all my contacts too. What am I doing wrong? What can I do to get it working?

  • OS5 Update. Can't get past Set Up iCloud after OS5 update.

I just updated to OS5 and cannot get past the Set Up iCloud screen.

If you cannot go any further or do anything else you may as well try restarting the iPad and see what happens.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button. Hopefully you will be able to pickup where you left off setting up the iPad.

  • Macbook Pro keeps going to Mac OS X Utilities on start-up and can't do anything to get past it. I have tried everything.. even installing Mac OS X Lion again and after 6 hours of loading it said it couldn't load! Please help!?

    ..

This worked amazingly!! Thanks for the post awvik360!
I was able to access the internal hard drive and perform a permissions fix through disk utility and re-apply the OS X 10.5.6 combo update on a totally debilitated machine (Mac Pro early 08).
    Some clarification though:
    {{ I used a MacBook Pro instead of USB/ExternalHD to run a working copy of OS X. }}
~ Just start up the healthy OS X (laptop) in target disk mode (hold 't' key while it powers up)
~ Connect it to the impaired Mac with the highest speed cable available (fire800>fire400>USB)
~ Start up the impaired Mac while holding the alt/option key to select the boot drive.
~ Select the connected OS X (laptop hard disk) and start er up.
~ Run disk utility and you can now use the Fix Permissions option on the impaired Mac's internal hard drive.
~ Run the OS X Combo Update (or presumably other offending update/program) and make sure to change the destination to the internal disk of the impaired Mac
~ Shut down, unplug target disk, start up, and you should be good to go.
I was in some kind of uber-kernel panic and could not start up in safe mode OR from the installation disc, and this worked! Definitely a good emergency procedure to have in your back pocket.
Note: ...target disk pairing must be in this direction. I tried setting up the impaired Mac as target and connecting it to running laptop, and it let me run the install fine, but it didn't fix the problem...must be something with permissions that the impaired Mac needs to install to itself, even if the OS is running on another disk/machine.

  • How can I select which music gets synched to my iPOD.  I am unable to select my device

I can't figure out how to select my device in order to select which music goes onto my iPod.  There is too much music in Itunes for it all to fit.

In the new iTunes your iPod should be displayed in the top right corner by the iTunes Store. Click on it and select what music you want from the Music page and sync.
if you prefer the old look
Ctrl B to turn on the top menu
    View > Show Sidebar
    View Show Status Bar
Your iPod now appears in the left hand panel

Just finished charging up my brand new out of the box MacBook. I've toured the voice over and I've selected US. Any action I take except to go back over Voice Over, which I don't care about or want to use, gets me the usual error noise. HELP!

  • Can't get past set up

When I turn on my iPhone my screen says "Slide to set up". After that, I'm asked to choose a network. If I choose my own network and type in the password, it says the password is incorrect, even though I know it's correct. If I manage to get passed the network-part, it goes straight back to the beginning. This all happened in the middle of the night, and now I'm not able to use the iPhone at all. Also, it says I need to insert a valid SIM that's not PIN-locked. Anyone know what to do?

iOS 5? You pay the $99 to join the developers program, then ask on the developers forums if there's any way to fix it. You can't discuss iOS 5 in this forum. Anyone who legitimately has it is under NDA.
Did you go through one of these wonderful websites that will add your phone to their developer's account for a small fee?  If so, it appears Apple has begun shutting them down.

  • Can't get past Set Up iPod

I'm having problems with my brand new iPod Shuffle. After I plugged it into my iMac, I only got as far as naming my Shuffle in the Set Up Your iPod window. I then got the Device Removal warning box (The device you removed was not properly put away, etc.) and the b-r-r-r-r-r sound you get when a Mac reboots. I hadn't even gotten through synching the iPod, let alone loading any music. So, I ejected the Shuffle and tried again. Same thing. All the time, the iPod's amber light is blinking like it's downloading. After several tries, I tried to reset it with the Reset Utility. I couldn't even do that! The warning box just keeps popping up, even after the Utility says it's reset and asks if I want to open iTunes. The warning box won't allow me to do anything. Help! I feel like I'm stuck on a Mobius band.

Same exact thing here and I have no idea why. The whole thing's completely corrupted from the get-go. I am ruing this stupid Shuffle purchase. Apart from the iPhone -- which is terrific -- Apple hardware/software updates is getting progressively worse, I'm finding.

  • Can't Get Past "Set Up" in Contact Info

    Hi
I'm trying to get through the Set Up stage for my Contact Info.  Each time I click on SET UP, it takes me to the info where my name and address are already in place. When I click the DONE button, it goes back to the pic you see below, but the blue SET UP button is still active even though my info was present on the Info page.  How do I get that blue button to change to a "View" button like the other ones already done being set up?
    Thanks!

When I saw that number, I assumed the screenshot had not been altered, thus my initial response.

  • Stuck screen message, can't do anything to get past it...

My phone says "cannot access email account; please configure in settings" and will not let me choose "okay" or "settings" to fix it, it's stuck on that screen... i cant answer apple support's calls because of the stuck message.  I'm trying to pull out the SIM card with a paper clip but it isn't popping out.  I can't turn it off and on because it won't let me "slide to power off".  What next?

The iPod is telling you to connect the iPod to your computer with iTunes.  When connected, iTunes should open and tell you what to do.  If it does not, you want to do is to restore the iPod from backup.
