Playbook Email Client crashing on a certain message (OS2.0 / account IMAP, HTML email)
Hello,
I receive since years emails from finanznachrichten.de. Now on my Playbook 2.0 the email client (not bridge) is crashing when rendering this email. For now I delete the message by Torch before reading emails on the PB. So I think there must be a bug on the PB for a not managed exception. any ideas?
thanks
Marc

Mail.app crashes when certain messages are selected
I recently migrated a user from OS X 10.4 to 10.5. When we run Mail.app, it will crash when certain messages are clicked.
I've tried everything I could to get the mail in in a different way -- importing it in different ways, deleting ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist, and re-importing, etc.
It certainly seems that the problem is tied to the individual message, as clicking on a certain message, even if it is in different folders (because of the way it was imported) causes the crash.
Most of the dozen-or-so crash logs start like this:

I had this problem, until I switched to thunderbird. A few people, using a version (don't remember the version number) of outlook/outlook express, would send multimedia attachments.
As soon as I would select the email, Mail would crash.
I would copy the offending email to a folder with no other contents, and then open it up with TextEdit, to view the non-attachment portion. -

MacOS X: Cisco Any Connect 3.x client crashes with certain user
Hello,
I'm using Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client 3.1.03103. The OS I'm running is Mac OS X 10.8.4 on a MacBook Pro.
During connection (about 5 seconds after pressing the connect button) the VPN clients crashes.

This only happens with one user. With two other users on that same system the issue does not happen. It started after I added Admin rights to that user. I also removed the Admin rights but the error still happens.
I uninstalled the client, deleted /op/cisco directoy and the .anyconnect file in the home directory. I rebooted the MacBook and installed it again. But no change, the error still happens.
Is there any other fix besides deleting and re-creating the user? There must be some configuration file (besides /opt/cisco/anyconnect/profile or the .anyconnect file in the user home ) in the home directory but I haven't found anything.
Help greatly appreciated :-)
Cheers
NielsWe've recently run into an issue related to this. We found that it was related somehow to Firefox. If one looks inside of
/Applications/Cisco/Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client.app/Contents/MacOS/ there are symlinks to Firefox libraries:
$ ls -lntotal 1800-rwxrwxr-x 1 0 80 891232 Aug 3 2012 Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Clientlrwxr-xr-x 1 1001 80 60 Jun 13 15:57 libmozsqlite3.dylib -> /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/libmozsqlite3.dyliblrwxr-xr-x 1 1001 80 55 Jun 13 15:57 libnspr4.dylib -> /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/libnspr4.dyliblrwxr-xr-x 1 1001 80 54 Jun 13 15:57 libnss3.dylib -> /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/libnss3.dyliblrwxr-xr-x 1 1001 80 58 Jun 13 15:57 libnssutil3.dylib -> /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/libnssutil3.dyliblrwxr-xr-x 1 1001 80 54 Jun 13 15:57 libplc4.dylib -> /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/libplc4.dyliblrwxr-xr-x 1 1001 80 55 Jun 13 15:57 libplds4.dylib -> /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/libplds4.dyliblrwxr-xr-x 1 1001 80 58 Jun 13 15:57 libsoftokn3.dylib -> /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/libsoftokn3.dylib
So as a simple confirmation we were able to remove Firefox and have AnyConnect connect fine. As a more permanent workaround we replaced the above symlinks with 0 byte files and we were able to have our cake (AnyConnect connecting) and eat it too (Firefox installed as well). -
Getting POP3 Accounts to Connect to Native Playbook Email.
My e-mail accounts which are hosted at namespro.ca will not connect with the Playbook Native e-mail client.
I have setup my Gmail account and it works fine.
The Namespro accounts need port 110 no SSL for incoming and port 2525 no SSL for outgoing. It also needs to have Outgoing Authentication = ON but the Playbook doesn't offer this option and Secure Logon = Off but the Playbook doesn't offer this option either.
Strange thing is it has downloaded some messages but then it keeps getting 'Can not connect with server" messages. Now it gets the error message all the time.
I also don't see an Option to tell the Playbook to leave the e-mail on the server. Some say they do have that option. Is that option available?

Dan
Playbook email app synchronises with web mail, think of it as a remote webmail access app. That means if you delete a mail in playbook it deletes it in webmail.
Any option to "Leave on server" when POP mail is accessed my an email client is usually an option in the webmail account. There is no option in Playbook for that.
Can't help with the namespro.ca problem.
EDIT: Have you tried the second more secure option described at
http://www.namespro.ca/KB-how-do-i-access-my-mailbox-using-an-e-mail-client.asp
or the IMAP options at
http://www.namespro.ca/KnowledgeBaseArticle.asp?artid=2007&sID=FC50EC2E444540E78CABCBF23352E290 -
Ever since upgrading to Mountain Lion, my AOL messages sometimes, but not always open with a blank page. If I open AOL in Firefox, the messages open fine. This does not happen with any messages by any means, and it is not any type of certain message. In fact, in the same screen I can often open an email from the same sender with email intact. This is weird. Sometimes I close the page and open a new page. Sometimes that works and sometimes it does not. It is a very annoying thing.
Hi,
When you start Messages fro the first time you are asked for an Apple ID
When this is verified and entered it appears in Messages Menu > Preference > Accounts and is Enabled.
The App should have also picked on on those iChat Accounst you had before.
These should be Enabled if they were when you last used iChat.
Exactly which "Accounts" are logged in can be seen in Message Menu > Accounts and will include the iMessage "Account" and Bonjour.
In the Window menu you will see CMD +0 for the Messages window and CMD+1 for the "Buddies" window which is a combined list at this stage.
Go to the Preferences > General Section and Untick the "Collect all accounts into one list".
This will give you separate iChat type Buddy lists.
You can check if that account/Buddy list is set to Invisible or if in the Preferences > Accounts > Security you have settings that will block some people from seeing you as On line.
You are saying Buddies can see you as On Line which implies they are still sending to your AIM based Names (@Mac.com is a valid AIM Screen Name)
I am not sure from your post if you are trying to iMessage their email IDs thinking they are Apple IDs and that they are using Messages as well.
There is no Buddy list for iMessages side
No-one can tell you are "On Line" until they have your details in the "To" spot in Messages with the correct iMessaged contact info (iPhone Number or Apple ID)
Obviously an Apple ID can be an email or look like one.
In some cases they are also valid AIM Screen Names as well.
In the case or the @mac.com name you may have linked this Apple ID to iMessages as well.

Thanks in advance,If you update your client to the most recent version, does the issue reoccur?
How many Singh's do you have at your company? I'm curious if there's an active directory attribute that is returned with that user that the client really just doesn't like. Can you go into Active Directory Users and Computers, select View->Advanced
then manually find Singh (don't search) and go to the Attribute Editor tab. Do you see any attribute in there (not just Lync attributes) that seems to have any odd or escape characters?

How To Stop Lookout Web Client Crashing IE Web Browser
Hi,
I am using Web Client with Lookout. My problem is I can only load a panel within Internet Explorer once. If I reload the URL within the same session then Internet Explorer crashes.
Can anyone offer me advice to fix this problem please?
Software is as follows:
- Lookout V 6.0 (build 5)
- Browser: Internet Explorer 6.0.28
- Web Server: Tomcat 5.5.7
The steps I took are as follows:
1. Created Process
2. Set up File-> Web Server Options->Export Directory to:
c:\telemetrysms\webapps\root\user\fishfarmlive\
(where “c:\telemetrysms\webapps” is Tomcat webapps folder)
Set up server URL to:
http://HOSTNAME/user/fishfarmlive/
(where “HOSTNAME” is the server name)
3. Export Web Server Files
4. Start IE and open web page. My panel displays correctly (with live data), although the only alarm Lookout displays is “The remote position source is not writable”.
5. HOWEVER, when I reload the page in IE the browser will always go blank for several seconds and then crash (with no error message).
Furthermore…
As a test I created a simple test process with nothing but one panel containing a single line of static text. This simple project also crashes.
This computer also has Lookout 5.1 installed. And projects created in 5.1 only crash the browser very occasionally.
Any suggestions (about the crashes or the missing alarms) would be greatly appreciated?
Thanks.
Regards Brett SheeranBrett,
I have some info for you regarding the web client. I am including links to two documents that have information that will help you with your problem. The first document is good info about developing a web client application and the second has information directly pertaining to the IE crash that is occurring. It also has other troubleshooting information. I would also recommend checking the firewall on the computer. It windows security settings also have to be set to low in order for web client to communicate correctly.

Is this just one user or any?
Which build of the client are you running? Look in Help, About..
Does it work properly under WebAccess?
What is the backend? SLES or Windows? Versions?
Can you try connecting with a physical machine as the client so that we
can isolate if it has something to do with the VDI bits.

If you find a post helpful and are logged in the Web interface, please
show your appreciation by clicking on the star below. Thanks!
This is for every user and it works with webaccess. The backend is Novell OES2.
It works fine on a physical machine.

Mail crashes on opening any message with attachments
mail crashes on opening any message with attachments
this started happening about a month ago. I thought the problem was that there was too much mail in the program -
so, I acquired a program called MAILSTEWARD (which I recommend!) and it stores & saves my old mail.
I reset MAIL, so it kept my address and smart folder instructions etc, but all the mail itself was gone (I forget how I did that - I probably will try it again...)
for a few weeks, everything was fine - I could open an eMail with an attachment, and it worked.
but now it started crashing again everytime there's an attachment!
don't know what to do - there's only a month's worth of mail in there (which I should clean out anyhow) - but it seems to me that's not too much...
thanks!
wthat's it - I ran the updater - and I believe I have been able to use it all day without the program crashing when it encounters an attachment.
one goofy thing I noticed, for the first time, there appear to be two applications folders on my start-up drive (1) in my user folder (2) in the "main" hard drive folder.
MAIL is in both - I believe the "main" one was updated; when I turned on the "user" MAIL it crashed when I opened an eMail with an attachment; when I opened the same eMail with the "main" mail there was no problem.
now what does this tell us?
thanks again!

We are having this on a few lync clients. The crashes are at random, a few times per day. Generally happens when the client is idle. Windows 7 systems, with the latest version of the client. (15.0.4517.1504)Any ideas?Hi Everett.Chris,
Did you solve the issue with the suggestion Waqas105 provided?

Dear All,
Our customer recently has some SAP client crash occasionally. It will popup a window ask us to check the dump file. I re-install SAP client on one of the workstation. I remember there is a note long time ago. It indicate us to setup the log file or some other settings on the workstation. Then next time if the program crash, we can send it back to SAP. Is there anybody remember that message? Thanks a lot.

Is there any way that a normal SMS message (i.e. A green message) can be sent through to an iPad? I have linked my iPad to my phone but I don't want certain messages getting through. If I turn my imessenger off, does this mean these won't go to my ipad?
SMS is a voice cell service and since the iPad does not have voice cell circuitry, it does not natively support SMS or MMS. There are third-party apps in the iTunes Store that purport to send SMS, but I have no personal experience with any of them.
If I turn my imessenger off, does this mean these won't go to my ipad?
If you disable Messages in the Restrictions on the iPad, then it will not be able to send nor receive messages. Or you can change the email address used for Messages on either the iPad or the iPhone. The iPad will then only receive messages sent via that address.
