• Forum reader. Alternative to Tapatalk?

  Hi
  I have been using Tapatalk for a while and I quite like it, but support seems pretty limited - especially for simple things like using emoticons which are useful for this form of communication
  Does anyone anyone have any recommendations for an alternative forum reader for IOS ( iPhone or iPad). Does not need to be free - prefer to pay to avoid advertising!

  If you found a solution to your problem, I would really love to hear from you. In my case, DigitalPersona quit working and I made a backup of the fingerprints file and attempted to re-install. Now, installation will not complete and I have tried every possibility: Uninstalling AuthenTec and reinstalling both products and nothing works. And, as you stated, www.digitalpersona.com treats me like a leper. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

• 'Mark All Forums Read' from 'View Posts Since Last Visit' pg

  I usually read the forums by the 'View Posts Since Last Visit' method rather than any particular forum. It'd be very nice to have the 'Mark All Forums Read' item on that page as well as the main one to save a trip to that page just for that item. Is this doable?

  I'll second that one, too. It's more of a 'disaster recovery' mechanism and wouldn't ordinarily be used, so isn't all that important to me, but it's great when you need it. Most (vBulletin, etc.) boards support that, I believe.

• Tips & Tricks for daily forum reading?

  At one point in time I used to visit the Arch forums quite actively in my efforts to contribute back to the community.  More recently, I've stopped reading the forums but I now wish to get back into the "swing of things" and read/write the forums daily.  I'm curious as to any tips or tricks the forum "regulars" know about to better tackle daily forum viewing.

  How do you guys and gals participate in the forums so much and still have time to be a dev, work, eat, sleep.. rofl  you get the picture! Tell us your secret strategy!

  I recommend the Vimperator Firefox extension.  Once you couple that with the It'sAllText extension you can zip through the forums very easily.
  Why do you need It'sAllText? Simply hit ctrl + I
  But you can only change tabs while gvim is open with the most recent version of vimperator.

  open every sub-forum in a new tab
  open every interesting topic in a new tab
  --> work through all the tabs (usually just closing them without reading anything )

• Forums: read/unread-new/old postings icon not displaying

  Just noticed this recently (perhaps after the 10.4.3 upgrade?): in all the forums I subscribe to online, the icons used by different boards to display read/unread or new/old postings no longer display the status of postings. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

  OK, I see the problem; basically one simply needs to log in again. Even though I have "log in automatically" checked for each forum, after upgrading it appears that users need to indeed log in once again.

  Hello all,
  I have the following situation:
  - one thread (T1) is constantly reading samples from a NI USB 9229 in a local buffer and copying them an array A (44100Hz)
  - another thread (T2) is waiting for a command and subsequently copying a batch of 44100 samples from A to a local array variable and doing some computation with them
  - array A is protected in a critical section (T1 and T2 enter the critical section when working with A directly and leave it afterwards)
  How "atomic" is the reading of samples from the device in my array A? I.e., is it guaranteed that the critical section protection on A means that by the time T2 accesses A, T1 has finished writing 44100 samples in it?
  Or do I have to register with DAQmxRegisterEveryNSamplesEvent() a callback which 1) reads 44100 samples, 2) notifies T2 that the batch is complete and available?

  As far as I can understand the situation, the answer should be 'yes': the array is protected until you leave the critical section.
  But could I suggest an alternative, perhaps simpler approach?
  If you configure a thread safe queue of 44100 elements which discards old elements, with T1 that fills it on top, T2 can freely read from the queue without disturbing T1, having available the most recent set of data in any moment.

• Question: reader app in Blackberry Playbook

  In my Blackberry Playbook, to read a book:
  How can I place a bookmark where I have left off so that it does not open to the beginning of the book each time I open the reader?
  How can I change the size of the font? If you use the BB in the vertical (portrait) orientation, the print is too small to read comfortably.
  Also, can I delete a book directly from the Playbook, or do I need to connect to the computer and delete the book after opening the file on the computer?

  I have been searching for netware documentation for 3 days now, to create
  an application that connects to a netware server, and I have not been able
  to compile any of the examples, nor found a detailed walktrhough of it.
  I want to doit in VC++.
  Can any one guide me please?

  There are no more Novell Netware engineers.
  We spent > $1000 on a service contract for Netware 6.5 only to find out that there is no more support.
  The only support for netware 6.5 is through the forums. And nobody from novell monitors the forums.

• Playbook (no 3g) email set up thro another server help please

  Have just bought the Playbook (no 3g) & am trying to set up the email. I have several email addresses (some bought & others eg BT) On the laptop I route them all thro BT server & am trying to do the same on the Playbook. It will find the purchased address automatically I guess thro the Easyspace server but I want to route all through the BT server which is where my internet connection comes from. It's probably a stupid question once you get your head around it but could anyone help - thanks

  Hi, I want to know how much is the license to develop AIR Apps for Blackberry Playbook and to publish them on the Blackberry Store.
  For example... for iOS Apps the fee is of 99$ by year.... and for the Blackberry store?

  Hi Mark. There are a few things to install and you need to register as a vendor for the app world - but it's all fairly straightforward. Here's an excellent link from the BlackBerry PlayBook forum. One of the guys there goes through everything you need in a real good level of detail.

• Bb forum error using bridge

• Receive an Application Error (The memory could not be "read") when opening

  After I install Itunes the program works ok until I close it and try to reopen. When I do this I receive an Application Error that says:
  The instruction at "0x6686f183" referenced memory at "0x0fccc094". The memory could not be "read".
  Click OK to terminate the program
  Click CANCEL to debug the program
  Debugging does not work so the only solution is to uninstall Itunes and then reinstall. That again only works for one use of the program. As soon as I close it and re-open, I get the same error. Please HELP. I cannot waste any more time uninstalling and reinstalling.

  Try this: Turn off automatic Microsoft/Windows updates and reboot your computer. I saw this a couple of weeks ago on the forum.

• PDF portfolio search not working in Reader for Linux

  I have a PDF portfolio with embedded index created using Acrobat 9.5.5 running on Windows 7. I can search this portfolio without any problem using the windows versions of Acrobat 9.5.5 or Reader 11.0.4, but when I try any of the same searches using Reader 9.5.5 for Unix on Ubuntu 13.10, the searchs never terminate. The search window appears, but the spinning circle at top right of the search window just keeps spinning and no results ever appear. I've left it for half an hour without any results appearing. The same searches on Windows complete in a few seconds.

  Hmm. Sounds like something went wrong with the links. Are they spelled out (using http://www....etc) or are they hyperlinks? If they are spelled out, you could have your version of Reader set to recognize links and they may not (Edit>Preferences>General>Basic tools - Create links from URLs).
  To create links in ID, highlight the text, go to your hyperlinks pallet and in the drop-down select "New link" and fill in the appropriate information. Then when you export it to PDF from ID, in the "General" settings section under "include" select "Hyperlinks".
  There are other options you may want to be aware of but that's better asked about in the ID forum.

• Error on installing adobe reader on windows 8

  Purchased new HP laptop with windows 8 Installed.  Attempted to download adobe acrobat reader for windows 8 (only version 11. available).  Getting error of "unable to load application".  Followed trouble shooting to make sure java script enabled and still no results.
