Playbook hanging on "limited Warranty" Screen

Hope somebody can help....
I have a BlackBerry playbook that is hanging at the limited warranty screen, no ability to access WIFI settings, no text on screen except the title - never got past the Blackberry ID screen, now cannot do anything on device.
Have tried connecting to desktop manager but reports that it cannot connect due to it not being set up.
Have tried hard reset (power + volume buttons) however when the device reboots it just comes back to the limited warranty screen.
Any idea how to either factory reset or how to prevent hanging?
Thanks in advance.

while Desktop Software is still open on your computer and the PlayBook Powered Off, Connect the PlayBook to your computer.
You should see and error screen from Desktop Software pop up that has the options to Retry, Update, or Cancel.
QUICKLY choose the Update option.
This will erase all the information off of your PlayBook and Re-Write the Software back onto it. Once it's complete your PlayBook will need to go back through the setup wizard

  • Got OS2 finally installed, but I get the "green circle of death" on Limited Warranty screen :-(

Before I go on my sob story I will say that I'm a BlackBerry lover, I dig the company, I like their phones and I've wanted a PlayBook since I first saw the commercials.  Yesterday, after months of waiting for a good deal and the release of OS2 we went to Staples and bought one, they threw in a zip case and docking charger for free.  Now to the issue:
I've had a really, really uncool Playbook experience so far.  We bought one yesterday, and after 4 calls to tech, multiple attempts to use desktop to force update we gave up, concluded the thing was "bricked/nuked" from the word go.  Sucks.  So we return it to Staples. Guy there said we can get another unopened one or he's got some that he's gone thru the process of updating but it will cost an extra $30.  My guts told me to go for it, but the wife spoke first and she wanted a new one.  *sigh*  We got it home, had issues (which we sorted by hooking it up to another computer) I eventually succeeded in getting OS2 on the PB but it took about 2 hours to download onto machine.  Now, it's got the perpetually spinning green circle of death on the Limited Warranty screen.  This is madness.  It won't go past the Blackberry ID screen (same issue I had with the machine that we took back, WTF???!!!)
If I knew setting up a Playbook would have been this agonizing, I would NEVER have bought one till they released the next generation.  I know people who've bought other tablets and not one has said that they would rather staple their nuts to a cactus than go through the initial setup process again.  I've watched demos online (from BlackBerry and YouTube), and they make it look SO easy.  This has been ANYTHING but.  I haven't even gotten to play on this thing.  The commercials made it look like a fun thing to use, and as we own a book-keeping business we can use a cloud storage system with QuickBooks this would be much easier than dragging a laptop around.  I have an open ticket with Support, but before I call them again, is there anything I can do from here?  Right now I'm letting the batteries recharge on dock station before doing the power down/hook up to desktop and hope, hope, hope that it's smooth sailing from there.  Is that too much to ask?
If I ever get this thing running; if anybody asks if I would recommend a PlayBook, my initial response would be "no".  Get anything but.   I don't want to say it, but this has not been what I expected from BlackBerry.  I am far from a happy customer and I hope that this thing absolutely blows my mind when I get it running, because it's going to have to or it's going back and we'll get something else from a competitor or just keep lugging the laptop around.

Well, we tried the reset.  Still in loop.  Even went to a free internet hotspot to get a good connection as it kept saying that it wouldn't connect.  Still didn't work.  We never got out of the initial setup, and we have never used Bluetooth so I don't believe that was the problem.  The wife has totally lost patience; it was her purchase, I just got the job of trying to set it up.  I think she's going to take this one back and either a) make them get it to work b) buy one that is already upgraded by Staples staff or c) pull the pin altogether and the only tablet that will be in her life is the kind she takes for a headache.  I'll find out later.  Thanks for the suggestions.
    Cheers!

  • Stuck in Warranty Limbo - Need RMA for MFG limited warranty - Z10 Black Screen - USB not recognized (yes I've tried all the tips from other posts)

Here's to hoping a Blackberry employee reads this and can help me out.
I'm stuck in warranty limbo with my unlocked Z10. Bought new off Amazon.ca beginning of April-2014. While on Vacation the phone blue screened and died. It's outside of the online retailers 90 day exchange policy, in which case all I have left is the manufacturers limited warranty. Tried to contact Blackberry and they directed me to my carrier Telus, even though I did not purchase the phone through them. Telus was very helpful, we worked through troublshooting together, but unfortunately got to the same conclusion that the phone needs to go back for a hardware issue. They kindly offerred to RMA the phone for me through their system, however since I did not purchase the phone through them and it is an unlocked world phone it does not recognize the IMEI so they couldn't complete the process for me. There is absolutely no luck getting any help through any of the multiple Blackberry phone numbers I've called. Any help sorting this out would be much appreciated. I will drive the phone to the office in Waterloo if need be.

You're probably going to have to drive the phone to Waterloo.
Here's the situation: You bought the phone from Amazon which has a 90-day exchange warranty. That's mistake #1. Then you registered  the phone for service on Telus' network but the phone wasn't purchased from them so they won't honor any warranty claims (which is their right because they didn't make any money from your purchase of the phone from them). You're in a catch-22 situation. There's really nothing I can advise you to do except buy your next phone from the carrier with which you have monthly service.
Not much help but that's how I see it. Perhaps others can enlighten me with a different point of view. Cheers.

  • If my screen cracked and I still have my limited warranty, will Apple fix it for free?

Please help me. My ipod fell out of back pocket and cracked. I still have my limited warranty active and I want to get it fixed. WIll the warranty cover it? Are there any do-it-yourself packages for the LCD screen that I can replace myself? Again please, please, please, HELP ME!!!

Apple wil very likely charge you to exchange the iPOd. Acidental damage like a problen screen is not covered by the warranty.
Apple will exchange it for this price:
Apple - Support - iPod - Repair pricing
A third-party place like the following may be less expensive.
iPhone Repair, Service & Parts: iPod Touch, iPad, MacBook Pro Screens
    Google for more places.
    To replace it yourself see:

  • IPod touch 5g under apples limited warranty?

The 1 year limited warranty is good until December 30th. My home screen button on my iPod touch just stopped working today. It's completely stuck. Possibly even broken. If I bring it to an apple store what will they do? Will they replace it and give me a new one or will they open my iPod up and fix it? /:

If they can't unstick without disassembly and the iPod has not been abuse, Apple will exchange it for a refurbished one at no cost. Thus make sure you backup your iPod before bringing it to Apple.

  • Iphone 4 hang up on lock screen

hi my iphone 4 is hang up on lock screen and nothing is working, i got a text msg which is displaying on the screen on the the lock screen, please suggest what can i do, even though i plug in for charging and trying to sync but nothing happens

I am having and have had this issue for quite some time now. My iPhone 4 (4.3.5) touch screen freezes periodically and actually pretty frequently. Theres really no rhyme or reason to when or why it does it and I don't recall ever having this issue before upgrading to the latest iOS update.
Most of the time what I am able to reslove the issue (temporary) is pressing the power button. On occasion I have shut the phone all of the way down and restarted it.
Here are the issues that I am expereincing:
-Call finished and unable to end call on touchscreen
-Incoming call touchscreen will be unresponsive and unable to answer
-During call have another call come in and touchscreen will be unresponsive, cannot ignore, answer other caller...nothing
-Press the home button to wake the phone and the slide to unlock will not slide
-Press app icon (any app) and the icon idicates that I have pressed it however, the phone does not respond and the app does not open.
I took my phone into the apple store and they ran diagnostics on it and could not find any issues other than a few dropped calls. The "Genius" that was assiting me told me that my iOS must be corrupted and that we needed to do a complete restore. So, thats what we did and I left the store. I'm not sure exactly how long it took for it to start happening again but it wasn't long. In fact I'm not sure that restoring it did anything at all.
So...I'm not sure what is causing this and I don't know what to do about the issue now. I pre-purchased my iPhone 4 when they came out and have had it since then (out of 1yr warranty and did not purchase applecare).
I do wonder if I could possibly have a "bad" app installed on my phone that is causing this to happen.
Any ideas or suggestions would be very helpful...I am really frustrated at this point.

  • My G4 hangs on a grey screen when I try to boot in OS 9 help?!

I'm desperate! My mac G4 that I've been running for years with both OS X and OX 9 has been unable to boot in OS 9 and I've tried almost everything form option hold on restarts to shift (exrtensions off) zapping the pram etc. I know others have had this problem. I've researched a lot already. I used the same G4 and the same monitor and hardware and everything for years and this problem suddenly sprang up out of nowhere. I desperately need to get this machine to boot in OS 9 because I'm using Protools with many plugins and cards that are not supported on OS X. When I boot in OS X it acts fine no problem like it always did. When ever I try to boot in OS 9 it hangs on a grey screen and then freezes up before and happy face and or extensions have loaded etc.
One thing, and I don't know how important this may be, is that the first time I encountered this problem was after I had attached a USB hub to my computer which had been sitting unused for some weeks and the Hub somehow made the computer start up when I plugged in the USB cable to the USB Hub?! After that OS 9 has refused to boot period no matter what I do. I can run some apps in the classic environment but cannot boot to OS 9 at all ever.
I read in one forum where a guy did an open firmware reset and got some error messages that had to do with USB. He was having the same problem the grey screen when trying to boot on OS 9.
Does any one have an answer Please I'm almost ready to give up!

Hey me back again month later. Well I have tried everything. I even pulled the hard drive out of my G4 and replaced it with a tested and working hard drive which had only OS9 installed on it. In other words that computer had two choices boot into OS 9 or hang on a grey screen. There was no other system present to boot into, so after chiming and starting the boot process it just hangs on the grey screen again. So I guess what Steve Jobs meant when he said OS 9 is dead is that they killed OS 9 because my machine will not look at any OS 9 system folder regardless of whether OS X exists on the machine or not. I tried to reboot holding down option command P R and after the second chime grey screen again. I've read that OS 9 requires some small folder or bytes to be recognized in order to boot which it is obvious newer versions of OS X purposely and maliciously delete in order to make it inoperable. My protools gear works fine I've rested it on other machines. The only way that I can use it is to be able to boot into OS9. Which has been corrupted by OS X. They say you can format a disc with OS 9 drivers but I see no such option using OS 10.4 tiger so I'm not sure what they are talking about.
So here is my question. Why would a G4 450mghz machine with a working OS 9 hard disc installed with no other system folders available not boot after it chimes and begins the start up process. If it is because running OS 10.4 disables the OS 9 drivers and corrupts the machine so that it can never look at a OS 9 again let's just admit that and say OK Steve was right OS 9 is dead but it did not die of natural causes.

  • My P62290ea will usually start OK in the morning, but sometimes it hangs on the Windows screen.

I am running Win7 home Premium 64bit SP1. When I start up in the morning usually the PC loads OK. However, often it hangs on the Windows screen and I have to reboot and sometimes it is OK and other times I have to go via the HP srart-up screen. This inconsistency is very confusing and frustrating. Can anyone help?

    Hello amorriss,
You have a frustrating issue to troubleshoot because of the randomness. We can try troubleshooting, but hard to say if it fixes it or not for a while.
Try putting the computer into a clean boot state, you can find instructions on this forum thread, http://goo.gl/w3KQH.
Once in a clean boot state see if you can get the problem to happen
If it does then we know it's not a program that is starting up causing the issue instead it is likely a driver.
If it doesn't then one of the programs that was booting when Windows boots was causing a conflict, the trick is figuring out which one.

If you purchased AppleCare + within 30 days of getting your iPhone 5 you are allowed 2 instances of breakage replacement with a $49 deductible. If you do not have AppleCare + accidental breakage is not covered under you warranty, you can do an out-of-warranty replacement for $229.

  • PowerMac G5 hangs after going into screen saver power save mode

I have a PowerMac G5 and it's been working fine, but as of late has been hanging. I had a couple of external disks on the machine ( Maxtor OneTouch II and a OneTouch III). I recently added two more OneTouch III and stripped the three OneTouch III's together in a RAID set. I'm wondering if that is causing the hangs, but I've also seen it hang without the RAID so I'm not convinced it's the RAID.
Anyway, I can't figure out what's causing it to hang, but it seems to hang at some point after the screen saver runs and then the screen goes into power saver mode. It's not hung right when it shuts down the monitor, but at some point after that.
When it gets in this mode, I can't remotely login using ssh and I can't seem to wake it up. What I end up having to do is to hold the power button down for several seconds until the machine powers off.
In an attempt to see what's going on, I set the OS X monitor power save mode to "never", but I don't think I left it that way long enough and I never saw it hang.
Does anyone have any debugging tips that would help me identify the culprit?

I've been having the same troubles lately. Seem
since the JAVA update. It hangs completely after the
screen is shut down. Every morning I have to reboot
    with the power button.
I am also joining the crowd with this issue. I have a 15" Powerbook G4 that has acted normally until recently. Not sure exactly when it started, but about the same time as the recent updates. Similar behavior to the previous forum posts.
When I manually put the laptop to sleep it freezes up before it sleeps and the multi-language reboot warning comes up. This also happens if it is set to auto-sleep after xx minutes.
When I try to wake it up, the screen is black and the power light shows it is on and it never unfreezes or I get the reboot message.
I have tried everything I can think of to troubleshoot this. I just re-installed the 10.4.8 update over the exisiting one (using an external boot drive made with SuperDuper) and it still happens... BUT when I put the laptop to sleep with the startup drive being external, it seemed to behave properly. I can't figure this out since the external clone was made only minutes earlier from the laptop... and it works. I have zapped PRAM, and done the battery removal / power button reset.
Below is the "report" I have been getting - and sending to Apple. They must be getting tired of the many I have sent.
    Any thoughts out there?
    Thanks.

Hi, my refurbished rMBP 15" has a stuck (white) pixel and is still under the 1 year limited warranty, can/will Apple repair it if I go to an Apple Store?
I just discovered today that my MacBook has a "stuck" pixel. I read that the display has to have at least 5 dead/stuck pixels else Apple is not going to repair it, is it true? My warranty expires in 1 month so I can't really wait for 4 more pixels to die or get stuck.
    Temporary fix:
I know that this is something I can't really repair myself, but I tried some things such as changing the display resolution to it's "Full" 2880x1800 resolution and It actually reduced the size of the stuck pixel.
    Thank You,

We have Adobe Connect 8 (Multilanguage - Portuguese) installed on a server. Connect Mobile for RIM Blackberry Playbook hangs while trying to connect to the server. I also need to first install version 8.1.1 in order to upgrade to 8.1.2, as remarked by Hayward. Does anyone know where can I download version 8.1.1 (Multlanguage - Portuguese)?
