Playbook headphone mode stuck on

I had my playbook plugged into my tv and a wireless headphone plugged into the headphone jack. I unplugged both and now my speakers don't work and when I adjust the volume it says "headphone volume". I've reset the playbook 3 times now and it doesn't help. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Did you try a hard reset?
Hold down the volume up key, volume down key, and power button at the same time. Hold them down for about 15 seconds and the device should reboot.
If that doesn't work you might need to try a security wipe, just be sure to backup your data first.

  • Headphones Mode Stuck Fix

So there I was having my usual routines everyday....
when i suddenly noticed that i cant hear my iphone ringing everytime i receive a text...
so i was like "hey maybe i just didnt hear it" but the second time i noticed taht its not ringing is that when i received a message agen and this time i was looking at my iphone just before i got the message... and it didnt ring...
so that bothered me.... tried to play some music through the speakers but still no luck.... tried to restart my iphone still no luck..
even reset it still the same.... even tried restoring it through itunes and still nothing...
so i was now desperately trying stuffs just to make it work.... tried all the disscussion on apple.com and everything was no luck... the blowing through the hole, the reinserting of the headphones, and the leave it alone method and pray that it will be normal in a few hours... still nothing...
but not unitl i got the idea that maybe sommething got inside the jack and got stuck... so i got a toothpick and starting poking the hole and to my amazement when i pulled the toothpick out there was a kinda like thread hanging... hahaha.... it was probably from inside my pants... and when i checked my phone.. VOila!! back to normal agen.. haha.. just wanted to share this to anyone who has the same problem as mine.. hehehe..

Managed to fix my 920. Had to talk on the speaker phone during calls. All Good now!

It took me a while to realize that the reason I could not hear calls, or audio from video clips on my phone was because the phone was stuck in Headphones mode.
After much experimenting I noticed that when I was adjusting the volume the volume indicator dialogue near the top of the screen indicated that "Headphones" were plugged in when they were not. I had tried a variety of fixes and even reloaded the OS to get it to recognize the headphones were not plugged in and nada. I tried cleaning the headphone jack with alchohol and blowing it out with air that did not fix it either.
I finally found the issue which appears to be either poor design or poor materials or both. If you hold a flashlight (small LED one would work best) and look into the phone's headphone jack, at the top of the jack on the side towards the edge of the phone is a small grey pressure switch plate. I believe that it is supposed to be a piece of conductive metal that when compressed (the headphone jack inserted) it touches the wall of the headphone jack and tells the phone that the headphones are in. When you remove the headphones it is supposed to spring back up and away from the wall which the phone interprets as the headphones having been removed.
The tiny grey metal plate was still pressed flush against the wall and had not "sprung" away when the headphones were removed causing the issue. I used a needle to gently pry the plate away from the wall of the jack and the phone immediately went back to having it's internal speakers available for calls or watching video, etc...
So I was able to fix my issue, but I think Nokia and other phone makers need to do a better job in designing the headphone jacks or use better materials...

  • My iPodtouch 5th generation is stuck in headphone mode, while no headphones are present! Please help!

Hello to any others out there with my issue and have found a solution!
My ipod touch 5th gen is brand new! Just purchased this product end of July and I love it to death. Today however I ran into an issue that I simply cannot solve on my own. I was oovoo when my ipod randomly cut off and now it is stuck in headphone mode! I haven't even used my headphones all day so I really do not understand. I am not one of those people who drops their electronics or spills liquids on it (no offense) so there should be no reason for this issue. I have tried EVERYTHING sensical to fix this but now I'm lost. please if anyone with the same issue has fixed theirs, please let me know the secret. I mean I didn't spend 350$ for this to happen within 30 days.
    Thank you for your time!

My iPhone is stuck in headphone mode. I've tried inserting and removing headphone jacks, blowing compress air into jack opening, using warm air from hair dryer, and a number of setting changes, but the iphone is still in headphone mode.

    it's a hardware issue
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1343532?start=315&tstart=0

  • Getting stuck in Headphone mode not necessarily a hardware issue, is it?

I've read on the net that cleaning the headphone jack can correct this issue. I've also read that inserting the headphones and removing them many times (I think I've seen 7 or 8 times) can also correct the issue. None of these issues worked for me.
What I did notice is that the presence of my headphones was indeed being detected. With the headphones plugged-in, I set the volume to a low volume, for example. With the headphones removed, I set the volume near maximum. Mind you, the phone is in Headphone mode, and won't normally play out of the speaker. But when you insert the headphones, in this example, the volume jumps to the low setting, and when the headphones are removed, the volume jumps to the near maximum setting.
So insertion and removal of the headphones is indeed detected. So this isn't a hardware issue, then, is it? There's got to be something else going on.

Well, I backed up, erased, and restored to get proper functionality. No longer stuck in headphone mode. I tried compressed air, and cleaning the jack. Those attempts didn't fix me. I believe it's just a bug that will eventually get fixed, or a setting that will reset the logic associated with the headphone.

How do i get my iphone 4s out of being stuck in headphones mode. When i dont even have headphones plugged in, it says headphones ringer. I've tried blowing and sucking in the jack, didnt work. I tried using a blowdrier in the jack, didn't work. I also tried putting it in the freezer while in a plastic bag, trying to clean it with a qu tip, and plugging and unplugging the headphones more than 100 times, still nothing and i also restored, reset, and put my iphone in DFU mode, and still nothing seems to work. DOES ANYONE KNOW ANY OTHER WAY I NEED HELP PLEASEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!! ANYONE ANY OTHER WAYS TO FIX IT?!?!??!? That would be very helpful

I had the same problem.  I squirted a drop of WD40 in the headphone hole and then used a plastic dental toothpick and twisted it around in the hole.  It amazingly worked.

my ipod 4g is stuck in headphone mode and i tried EVERYTHING but no solution HELP I DONT WANT TO CHANGE MY IPOD FOR ANOTHER ONE !!!!! I really want to hear all my stuff without using my headphones every second of the day!!! PLEASE!!!!!

If restoring from backup did not solve the problem you have a problem with the headphone jack.  If under warranty Apple will replace it under warranty.  There are third-partys places that can replace it too.  Yu can, if you are capible, replace it yourself.  See:

  • My iPhone5 is stuck on headphone mode

My iphone just randomly got stuck on headphone mode.  I tried plugging in headphones and wiggling it, sicking a toothpick inside to see if there was anything stuck, and sucking on the jack and blowing on the jack.  Nothing has worked so far.  Help!

Using just the headphones stick them in the port about 5 times all the way in and all the way out. Worst comes to worst RESET DEVICE
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for device to restart (no data will be lost).

  • IPhone4 - Stuck in Headphone mode

Ok, My iPhone4 is completely stuck in headphone mode.
It was in my pocket today and it did get slightly damp (freaking rain).
any-case, I really do not know what to do, I've tried using compressed air to blow into the jack etc, No luck.
    Restoring. No luck.
    Rebooting. No luck..
    What should I do?

    Randomphil,
Same issue here.  It looked like most of the fixes for this problem you see out there were posted by owners of the iphone 3 & earlier, and none of them worked on my 4 -- not to mention, I hadn't put headphones in since the last time I used the onboard speaker.  I think the issue was actually fixed with the 4 as I never have had this problem until now, despite using various non-iPhone headphones for months now.
My phone was in my glove box for a few hours during a foggy day, and when I got back to the car, a small amount of condensation appeared on it when I was handling it - probably due to the quick temperature increase from nearly freezing to being in my hands.  Now that I've had time to think clearly instead of rushing to my phone, I realize that, yes, this commonly happens with electronics, even if you're not getting them wet, the condensation in the air can quickly soak into your phone - especially during a rapid temperature change - and cause potential issues, although they are usually minor.  Need to allow time for the moisture to dry before using the phone.
I saw your comment yesterday and decided to give it a try.  About 3 hours in a tightly sealed bag of rice seems to have wicked out all the moisture, and it works fine now.
    Thanks!
