PlayBook - Missing music store (7Digital) & Podcast

Hi everyone,
Just a few hours ago I wiped my PB because I had too much junk in it.
I wanted to start my PB again clean & fresh just with all the data & apps that I need.
After wiping my PB and updating it to it's latest software (1.0.7 Bundle 2670), I noticed that the music store (7Digital) & Podcast app is missing.
So what I did 1st was to reset it, hoping that the 7Digital & Podcast app will appear back when the system comes turned on & has settled.. But this didn't work.
Again, I thought maybe shutting my PB down for 5 minutes will do the trick.. And guess what?? This didn't work either.
So, I'm asking if anyone out there has encountered same problem and has a solution to getting the 7Digital & Podcast app back on their BB?
FYI, this is my 3rd time wiping it since I 1st bought my PB. The 1st time I wiped it I had no problems at all, everything was there like it was supoosed to be.
But just a few hours ago during my 2nd & 3rd wipe, 7Digital & Podcast is missing from my PB.
I live in Indonesia & I would think that this is not a regional problem, because the 1st time I wiped it everything was fine.. Aside from that, I have been able to purchase music from 7Digital without any problems.
Please.. Your help is much appreciated.
Thank you.

I did bought my PB in the US during my visit there months back, but didn't realize that apps would go missing when wiping it in another region, I thought 7Digital was a standard app for the PB no matter where you are.
Anyways, I was really happy with the 7Digital app & bought lots of music from it using my credit card.. Was one of the best app for me.
Quick question.. if these apps are not availabe here in Indonesia are they available in other south east asian countries (ie. Malaysia, Singapore etc.)?
If so, then which?
Since frequently I travel around east asia for business, I'm thinking maybe I can do a wipe and update there to start my PB fresh again with 7Digital etc. installed.
Is that possible?
Otherwise I'm stuck with whatever sad apps that's available here in Indonesia and back to using my iPad which I don't prefer over the PB.
Your help is appreciated.
Thak you.

  • What are the Bit Rates of the Music Store and Podcasts?

    What is the bit rate quality and format of a song downloaded in the Music Store? And podcasts? Are they perfect, Apple Lossless quality or what...?

    This might be true, but you won't experience any improvement in sound quality. Here's some info on bit rates:
    This was originally posted by the incredible Sparky the wUnderdog
    "As a general principle, you can fit more CDs on your iPod if you encode at lower bitrates (making smaller files), but at the cost of audio quality. Lossless promises to capture all the data on the original CD (thus preserving quality) but coded so the file takes half the space. MP3 and AAC (an implementation of variable bit rate MP4) both eliminate some of the information on the CD in order to compress the digital recording into ever smaller files--the lower the bitrate, the smaller the file, but smaller files mean more information lost and consequent poorer sound quality.
    iTunes's MP3 encoder is so-so; the LAME encoder is better at preserving sound fidelity to the original. AAC files ripped in iTunes certainly sound better than its MP3s, with audio quality close to the best LAME MP3s at higher bitrates. With the type of music I listen to most often, sound quality declines substantially as bitrates fall below 256kbps, but LAME or AAC @ 256kbps sounds pretty darned good, and at 320kbps LAME alt-preset-insane is amazingly faithful to the original. However many users claim that with the music they listen to they can't hear the difference between 192 or even 128 kbps files and the original CD source, so they naturally choose higher compression rates to fit more "songs" on their iPods.
    CDs take approximately 10MB per minute of music; Apple lossless takes 5MB/minute; LAME insane takes 2.5MB/min; AAC or MP3 at 256kbps take 2MB/min; and iTunes Store files (AAC@128kbps) take 1MB/min. At these rates, a 20GB iPod (really 18.6GB) can hold anywhere from 30 hours to over 300 hours of music. (iPod marketers express this potential playback capacity as "songs," figuring 4 minutes per song--thus 300 hours at 128kbps = 4500 "songs.") You will need to listen to samples ripped with different bitrates and codecs to determine the optimum tradeoff point for you between quality & quantity. It's worth taking some time to do this at the start as it sure beats reripping everything in your collection 2 or 3 times to get it right later.
    So far as convenience goes, nothing beats iTunes's one-step process. To change bitrate as you import from CD, go to the iTunes menu > Edit > Preferences, select the Importing tab, choose AAC or MP3 encoder in the "import using" selection box, then choose "Custom" in the "setting" box, and the window permitting bitrate selection will pop up. If you choose iTunes MP3 encoder, at least use VBR (variable bit rate) to maximize the sound quality. (VBR increases sample size as data complexity increases.)
    If you would prefer LAME MP3s, fear not, for the easy-to-use CDex ripping software is a free download and requires only one simple extra step to get the files into iTunes for transfer to your iPod. Now if AAC sound quality is comparable to LAME MP3, you might wonder why you should even consider LAME: Because of portability to other devices. At present, hardly anything but iPods can read AACs or Apple Lossless, but almost everything reads MP3s. So if you plan to burn CDs of your compressed files for playback on your home or car CD player (for instance), it would be wise to choose MP3.
    One other consideration specific to the iPod: It has a 32MB cache. If you choose a compression rate that results in large files (i.e. lossless), then the cache won't hold very much 'music' and the hard drive will have to spin up frequently to fill it, and that will shorten your battery life somewhat."

  • Music Store Trouble, Podcast

    I submitted a podcast to the music store titled "Foundation Youth Ministry" I got it to work fine. I had to change the URL of the feed, so I went to the Music store and removed the old feed. Now I tried to resubmit the new URL and it tells me that the name has already been submitted. It's been about a week since I deleted the old feed and it doesn't even show up in the music store. There are no errors with the feed, it works fine when I test it with iTunes.
    Any help would be great!

    Does anybody know how to fix this problem? This has been up for more than 2 weeks and no replies.

  • N97 Missing Music Store app

    I just got an N97, previously I had a Nokia 5800, in this N97 I can't find the music store, I want to know if there someway to install it, to download it, or something. Because I like to buy music from the phone, is quite convinient.
    Please help
    My phone N97 Firmware v20 RM-507 from Telcel (America Movil)

    I have it on mine. After I sent the last message to you, I checked My World. It was not listed there and I could not find it in App World. It may have been removed for updating. There may be an update icoming soon. Keep an eye open for it.

  • 7digital music store is gone!

    I just bought a 64gb playbook but when initializing it did not have music store or podcast app, how do I get it, I already have the latest OS 1.08XXX

    I'm in the US and have albums listed up to 12/20 (Guided By Voices' "Let's Go Eat the Factory" being the last one, from 12/20).   But since we're in different regions, I'm probably not going to be a good comparison for you.   But what I can tell you is that I see a lot of albums post 10/31.  "Little Talks", btw, was a free / "featured" track so maybe it's something that's region-agnostic.
    I would suggest giving Apple a call, just to see if they can confirm that Alternative albums in your region have stalled past 10/31.  You might want to check all new releases past 10/31, regardless of genre - if there's nothing there at all, maybe Apple is having an issue securing licensing in your region which is causing problems.  Hopefully a phone call to them can confirm that?

  • Can't access the Music Store.  This thing is driving me nuts!!!

    Ever since installing iTunes V7.x I had stability problems with iTunes and my Video iPod. I finally gave up and rolled back to iTunes 6.04 and restored the iPod to its former firmware. I thought my problems were behind me until I noticed this morning that none of my Podcasts were being updated, even though it looked like it was going through the motions. Every single podcast had a with the message:
    "There was a problem downloading "xxx". The network connection was reset"
    I then tried accessing the Music Store and got the message:
    "iTunes could not connect to the Music Store. The network connection was reset."
    I checked and re-entered my Apple account name and password, but still no go. If I went to the Apple web site directly, then the Apple store, I had no problem logging in. In the early iTune days I had the same "network connection reset" problem, but Apple apparently fixed it. Now here it is again. It is my gut feel that the problem has something to do with the fact that I depend on a satellite internet feed (Hughesnet). I'm guessing that there is some security feature either in iTunes, the Music Store, or both that is getting confused by the long turn-around time (latency) resulting from using satellite, but no way to prove it (unfortunately, due to poor health, I can't get out to try other internet connections).
    Bottom line is I am stuck with an iPod I can't use because I can't access the Music Store. Any ideas?

    Believe it or not I got mine working finally though I'm not sure which of the following steps, if any, did the trick. I posted this problem in the DSLReports forum. Apparently several people had problems though none mentioned iTunes specifically. The 'fix' was to go into the advanced menu and change the proxy port to something other than Port: 87. The idea was that this effectively turns off the proxy server or I should say forces your receiver to not use the proxy server. Well I tried this and didn't see any difference. Rather than screw anything else up I decided to reset the DW7000 thus restoring the original settings. For some reason it all of sudden could finally access the Music Store, update podcasts, etc.; i.e. it started working.
    From what I've read, each time you reset the receiver it goes out an decides on the proxy server to use (not necessarily the same one each time). I'm guessing the proxy server it picked up after the reset was more iTunes friendly. Of course it's possible that it has nothing to do with the proxy server and the reset fixed whatever was wrong. Bottom line, reset your receiver and see if the access problem goes away. If not, try again. It only takes a few seconds so really you have nothing to loose. Kind of obvious when you think about it. What's the first thing you do when your computer is having a problem? Yep, reset.

  • New Episodes of my Podcast are not showing up in the iTunes Music Store?

    this isn't really an "itunes for mac" question, but since i do my production on a mac, i'll ask it here!
    i produce and record a weekly podcast (about 2 hours each week) which has been listed in the iTMS since it started (last february)
    this last week we recorded episode 31 and uploaded it to my .mac account, and all went well... the new episode is downloading to anyone who already has subscribed to the rss feed (homepage.mac.com/airplayradio/podcast.xml), but it hasn't shown up in the iTunes Music Store... the software i use to upload the shows generates an automatic ping, and i've done a manual ping a couple of times a day since wednesday, but nothing...
    any ideas? absolutely -nothing- (software/hardware/etc.) has changed since i uploaded episode 30 a week ago, and that showed up within an hour...
    many thanks for any advice!
    cheers

    well, i never got a reply directly to my question, but i was directed by email to post my problem within itunes... go to the podcast page of my podcast and then select "report a concern"... i always thought this was to report offensive podcasts, but if you click on that button you'll see a pull down list with a bunch of problems... i selected "difficulty downloading" and then explained the problem completely... as i said, i never heard back from anyone, but about 4 days later my podcast episode showed up... and this past wednesday we uploaded the latest episode and it showed up in the iTMS almost immediately... go figure?!
    if anyone's interested, the podcast name is Schnauzer Logic and its comedy and talk and music and pop culture (i used to be the host of a morning show)... good for a giggle once a week for a couple of hours.
    cheers!

  • Accessing Podcasts in Music Store locks-up computer.

    I have a problem that started about a week ago (iTunes under Win XP Pro). No problem accessing the top page of the Music Store, but when I click on 'Podcast', the computer goes into a tight loop. I still have iTunes control, but am frozen out of the Music Store and the CPU usage jumps to 50% for one of the iTunes processes. If I close the iTunes window, the remaining iTunes process (the one accessing the Music Store jumps up to 98% CPU usage. It appears it is stuck in a tight loop. I tried this on three different computers, all running the latest version of iTunes. The only thing in common is the internet access which is via DirecWay satellite service (Small Office). I have no idea what to try next. All other aspects of iTunes is working properly.

    I took my laptop to the local sandwich shop and used their WiFi connection; iTunes worked perfectly! It looks like the problem is specific to my DirecWay ISP. No idea how to proceed.

  • Can I add Podcasts to my iPod without going through the iTunes Music Store?

    I want to add some spoken word files to my iPod and store them in the Podcast section. They are not radio broadcasts and are not available through the Music Store, still there must be some way to file them where I want them. Downloading from the Music Store can't be the only way to file things under Podcast, or can it...?

    I'm not terribly familiar with podcasting but you can put podcasts on your iPod from sources other than iTMS. From memory, you have to add these manually. Have a look at the tutorial: Podcasting Tutorial

  • Podcast feed not updating correctly in iTunes Music Store

    Hi. I doubt anyone is able to help with this question, but this is where Apple "support" directed me...
    I've created a podcast feed:
    http://wwf.org.au/podcasts/rss
    I've registered it with the iTunes Store:
    http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=168761907
    We added a new item to the feed yesterday and it is not appearing in the iTunes Store feed. Subscribing to the feed manually (that is using the feed from our website) works fine, correctly showing the three items. But the iTunes Store feed only shows two items.
    I clicked the "Report a concern" link in iTunes but it went 404 (resource not found).
    If anyone can shed any light on why this might be happening, and more importantly how I might be able to fix it, that would be much appreciated.

  • Why Can't I Download my Podcast from the iPhone's iTunes Music Store

    Hi,
    Newbie here and was hoping if someone could help me. I recently submitted my podcast feed at the itunes music store and is now currently searchable if i use my itune client on my Mac. No problem on subscribing and everything works great. Now when I search it in the itunes music store via my iphone, I can still search it, and it has 2 reviews but it seems that all episodes are grayed out. I can't do anything with it. I can't download it whatsoever.
    Anyone out there with the same issues I'm having? Is it my feed or my phone?

    i just tried subscribing, and when i do, i am unable to download any of the podcasts, nor am i able to listen to them in iTunes.
    i was able to find your podcast in my iPhone, but i was not able to get it to download like i can with other podcasts.
    sadly, as i have no experience on the admin side of podcasts, so i can not offer any advise, but i hope my information helps you troubleshoot!

  • New podcast page not appearing in iTunes Music Store yet

    Our latest addition to the WhiskyCast podcast series, WhiskyCast Virtual Tastings, was added to the iTunes Music Store last weekend. However, it's still not showing up in search results unless one types in the complete name of the show, and then only shows up as a single episode -- not with a page of its own like our other podcasts. I know it takes a day or two for new podcasts to show up in the search results, but without the page, there's no "Report a Concern" link for me to check with the iTMS team on whether there's an issue or not. Should I wait a few more days to see if the problem straightens itself out, or is there someone within Apple that I can reach out to to see whether there's a problem with my feed that's keeping the page from showing up.
    Here's a link to the debut episode in iTMS and what iTunes displays:
    http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/whiskycast-virtual-tastings/id460281190
    Thanks!
    Mark Gillespie

    The link you give is to the Store page for your podcast - this is what the Search results will link to once they become available. Your page does have the 'Report A Concern' link but I shouldn't bother (iin any case it's really meant for people to complain about content or whatever).
    It can take some days for the Search results to show; it's been eight, so it should happen any time now. If you want to contact Support (though I don't think you will find them at all helpful), go to http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ - click on 'Other iTunes Store Features' in the list and then on 'Podcasts'. You will see a link to either 'Express Lane', which will guide you eventually to some contact options, or you may see a link to email them.

  • Podcast not upto date in iTunes Music Store

    Hey all,
    For some reason my podcast isn't showing the latest shows in iTunes...
    I run the website http://www.vgmfusion.com and we host the show VGM Daily.
    The podcast feed is here: http://www.vgmfusion.com/podcast.php
    We do daily episodes, and currently the newest one is episode 39... but the music store is only showing upto ep. 32.
    Whenever I do an update, I ping the iTunes server with this link:
    https://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZFinance.woa/wa/pingPodcast?id=109134713
    ...then I go into iTunes to check if it updated, and on my "podcasts" in iTunes it will update my show's feed, and download the new episode right away, but if I look at our page in the Music Store it's always stuck on episode 32!
    We're still getting all the people who've subscribed to the podcast already I'm sure, but I can't see how we'd be getting many new listeners if they think that we never update!
    Please help!
    My iTunes link is:

    Apple may have tightented their feed syntax checking
    and is now failing your feed where it may have passed
    previously.
    As for an official comment from Apple - we see the
    infrequent comment from an official rep, but nothing
    you should count on.
    Okay, I've go in and tried to look at the podcast feed generators code.. and I've found the following...
    Using the feed validator that you linked to, I see that one of the errors is with itunes:link, saying it's an undefined channel element...
    This is how the podcast.php generates the code for the feed element itunes:link ..
    //huge iTunes-image (the apple method from the early days)
    echo "<itunes:link rel=\"image\" type=\"video/jpeg\" href=\"".$settings['url']."/audio/itunescover.jpg\">";
    echo str_replace("&", "&", itunform($settings['sitename']))."</itunes:link>\n\n";
    Is there anything wrong with that? What can I change?
    Secondly, the other "error" is for another element, itunes:category.
    The podcast.php generates it like this:
    //iTunes categories!
    $allcats = array(
    $settings['feedcat1'],
    $settings['feedcat2'],
    $settings['feedcat3'],
    $settings['feedcat4']
    foreach ($allcats as $thiscat) {
    $main = false;
    if ($thiscat != "00-00") {
    if (substr($thiscat,3) != "00") {
    $maincat = substr($thiscat,0,2) . "-00";
    echo "<itunes:category text=\"".$cat_table[$maincat]."\">\n";
    $main = true;
    echo "<itunes:category text=\"".$cat_table[$thiscat]."\" />\n";
    if ($main) { echo "</itunes:category>\n"; }
    //normal categories
    foreach ($allcats as $thiscat) {
    if (filled($cat_table[$thiscat])) {
    echo "<category>".$cat_table[$thiscat]."</category>\n";
    So again, I ask -- what's wrong? why is the feed validator saying that it's undefined... what is undefined? the help on the page is not... helpful.
    Any Gurus out there?
    PLEASE!

  • Podcast not updating on iTunes Music Store but it's ok on Feed

    Hi, we've been posting a podcast every two weeks on iTunes Music Store for more than a year, the podcast name is sushi pop. This is the feed that we're using http://feeds.feedburner.com/ColissioncomSushiPop but since almost a month it hasn't been published on iTunes Music Store, anyone could help us with this?  Thanks a lot, have a nice day.

    Neither the Store nor iTunes when subscribing is showing episodes 25 and 26.
    Your earlier episodes each have two 'enclosure' tags: if both contained playable media iTunes would ignore the second (you can't have more than one enclosure per episode). However in each case the first one contains a bit.ly URL which downloads the media file. This is not acceptable to iTunes, which thus defaults to the second enclosure, which does contain a playable URL. (The test is that the URL, when pasted into a browser's address bar, plays the episode in the browser, not downloads it.)
    However episodes 25 and 26 have only one enclosure each, containing a bit.ly URL, again downloading the file. Since the episode contains no playable media iTunes does not display it.
    You need to stick to one enclosure, containing a direct URL to the media file.

  • ITunes music store not updating podcast part 2

    Hi there,
    I seem to be having the same problem as a lot of people in the fact that my podcasts aren't getting updated in the iTunes music store.
    I've pinged my podcast and it comes back with 'No Podcast Found For Ping Request.'
    I've used feedvalidator.org to check on possible errors and the only one I can find is when it comes back with this message:
    Your feed appears to be encoded as "UTF-8", but your server is reporting "US-ASCII"
    I haven't got a clue what this means....
    If you subscribe to my podcasts, the latest one gets downloaded to you, but there's only one appearing in the itunes store.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks in advance,
    Olive

    Hey guys, here is what I posted in another thread because I was having a similar problem. Run your rss feed through feedvalidator.org and see if there are any problems-then try to resolve them. Anyway, it's kinda long, but here's what helped me!
    I found the answer thanks to Rob @ podcast411.com!! I ran my rss feed through feed validator, and found that I was using a category that iTunes no longer used. I didn't think this would've mattered, but I went into my rss.xml file and updated the category from Sports to Sports and Recreation, and a few minutes later all was well in the ITMS. The trick was finding the rss.xml file. Here's what I did:
    Mount iDisk
    open web folder
    open rss folder
    open iWeb folder
    open kangaroopodcast folder (this one will be named what you named your website in GarageBand)
    open podcast folder
    ctrl-click rss.xml file and choose to open with Text Edit (this is where I had my trouble because at first I didn't open it with a different program than the default one and it was some goffy game-I guess apple was trying to mask it so you don't mess up your rss feed)
    next make appropriate changes (here you can use the info from the podcast tech specs page to know how to use the proper "language" to make the category change.
    Anyway, I know this was long, but I hope that it helps someone else because I spent a while trying to figure it out!
