Playbook (no 3g) email set up thro another server help please
Hi
Have just bought the Playbook (no 3g) & am trying to set up the email. I have several email addresses (some bought & others eg BT) On the laptop I route them all thro BT server & am trying to do the same on the Playbook. It will find the purchased address automatically I guess thro the Easyspace server but I want to route all through the BT server which is where my internet connection comes from. It's probably a stupid question once you get your head around it but could anyone help - thanks

any help please!!!AAAARGGHH - I posted to grumble about the "new" iTunes, [which is still a load of garbage], but cos 100s of people feel the same too, my mailbox is FULL of threads to the post.
I have reset my e-mail preferences to NO for ALL notifications, with a conspicuos lack of success. So i use a junk filter to stop them, but I ain't pleased. Can anyone explain how I can get the system to work right [I know, I can guess what you are thinking, expaecting anything from Apple to be user friendly is a long shot.... but at least on can try!]

I'm told by my website hosts that I need to 'reconfigure authentication" but I have no idea how to do this, they are now closed for the weekend and I need it fixed before Monday morning. Specifically -
Camera isn't functioning or has undesired image quality
If the screen shows a closed lens or black image, force quit the Camera app.
If you do not see the Camera app on the Home screen, try searching for it in Spotlight. If the camera does not show up in the search, check to make sure that Restrictions are not turned on by tappingSettings > General > Restrictions.
Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from any obstructions. Use a microfiber polishing cloth to clean the lens.
Cases can interfere with the camera and the flash. Try gently cleaning the lens with a clean dry cloth or removing the case if you see image or color-quality issues with photos.
Try turning iPhone off and then back on.
Tap to focus the camera on the subject. The image may pulse or briefly go in and out of focus as it adjusts.
Try to remain steady while focusing:
Still images: Remain steady while taking the picture. If you move too far in any direction, the camera automatically refocuses to the center.
Note: If you take a picture with iPhone turned sideways, it is automatically saved in landscape orientation.
Video: Adjust focus before you begin recording. You can also tap to readjust focus while recording. Exiting the Camera application while recording will stop recording and will save the video to the Camera Roll.
Note: Video-recording features are not available on original iPhone or iPhone 3G.
If your iPhone has a front and rear camera, try switching between them to verify if the issue persists on both.

Set text of container - javascript help, please!
I have used Dreamweaver behaviours to "Set text of container" and make different writing appear inside a box when I click a hotspot. Now I want people to be able to click on the writing that just appeared and make more text appear in another box. Could someone tell me how to do this? I don't think I can use Dreamweaver's behaviours for this because there's no material trigger... in that the writing that is the trigger only appears when the first trigger is clicked, but I'm more than happy to be corrected!!
So, I've been trawling through javascript libraries but I don't know what I'm doing, so if someone could either tell me how to do this in dreamweaver or really spell out what libraries etc. I need to download and what code I need to make a bit of text that's already a set text of a container into a trigger for a set text of another container, that would be great!
Sorry for the complicated question, it's difficult to explain what I mean.

Newbie setting up qt server help please ??

I am new to setting up quicktime streaming server but am advanced on mac os x server.
What i have been able to do so far without any probs is, setup my movie files to stream when accessed via a url for eg. rtsp://intranet/music.sdp
this will play my music when i access the link but i would like to know if there is a way that whenever i have someone click on the link can the song or movie start from the beginning ??. qt does not have the buttons available to go to the beginning because it is a live broadcast ?

If you use an archived file for streaming you'll find that the buttons (as I have) are gray for the forward and back. However, you can use the playback indicator to go forward or backward in the timeline simply by dragging it. It's not as fine a controller as the buttons but it works.
The other issue is that you're attempting to provide an "on demand" stream. If you check out the manual it covers this (however lightly) and what it has to say may help your situation. The manual can be found at http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/QuickTimeStreamingSrvrAdminGuide.pdf
There are a few paragraphs that give me concern for your particular application as it may be what you're trying to do:

Rather QTSS and DSS support of MP3 streams is intended for shoutcast/icecast-compatible live streams (such as those created by a streaming playlist) or live streams of other compatible MP3 live encoder broadcasters.
If you wish to serve individual MP3 files on demand (not as live streams), simply host the files on a web server in a web documents folder. {quote}

So I bought a brand new macbook from Amazon, and it came factory sealed (Not my first time buying a macbook, last one I bought was from Apple directly) but after I got this, I put in my apple I.D. and it told me there were updates available. I told it to go ahead and update, and it updated about half of the list, but the essential stuff (pages, notes, etc) it says "This software was installed using another Apple I.D. Please logon with that I.D. to install the software." I'm a bit baffled by this as it is a brand new mac and so I don't know why anyone else's I.D. would be logged into this mac. I'm not really worried about it though, as I don't really need to update my pages, etc, as I like what I have, but I'd love for this stupid "updates availble" popup to stop popping up every freaking day!!!
Anyone have any suggestions on finding out how to either gain access to update, or get rid of that "other" i.d. that is somehow associated with my brand new macbook?

Doesn't matter what the box looked like when you got it or if you went through the setup pages when you first turned it on. If it is registered to some other Apple ID then someone else had originally registered it and locked it to there ID.
Type in the serial number of the system into this page.

And see when it was originally registered.
Then send it back to Amazon as Used.

Syncing IMAP.mac email/ical/contacts across 3 computers - HELP PLEASE
I swear and promise to all of you - I have faithfully combed these discussions for several days now and tried a number of different things - and no can get/find the right answer... tried posting before & didn't help ---
1) have IMAP .mac account - only email I use - and its IMAP everywhere - no POP
2) have iMac G4 at home, eMac at school, and macbook laptop - eMac is only one not running Tiger yet but it's at 10.3.9....
3) I have 2 projects and 3 different classes of students going that all talk to me via email - and I need the same contacts, emails and calendar info on all three machines...
4) I first set up 16 mailboxes LOCALLY ON MY MAIN IMAC G4 COMPUTER, with rules configured for each - main rule is mostly - if sender is a member of group "A" (for example) move the message to group "A" mailbox.... Needless to say - I have these different member groups configured in my addressbook.... Also in a few there are more rules like "if subject line contains this key word - move it to this mailbox" etc....
5) I then set up the EXACT SAME mailboxes and rules ON THE .MAC SERVER (meaning on the giant cyberspace mailbox in the sky where everything is supposed to go)
to repeat - I have 16 mailboxes under the little "on my mac icon," and the exact same 16 mailboxes under the little earth globe icon on the server - the .mac icon.... and I did it from scratch - I didn't drag anything down to copy it - it's all original, set up each one and chose the pull down menu bar "set up on server" when it asked "where do you want this mailbox stored."
SOOoooo - when I open mail I have 32 little mailboxes down the side of my mail window........Everybody with me?
6) I then configured the rules to ALSO say - if sender is a member of group A - MOVE message to this group A mailbox stored locally on the computer, then ADDED THE RULE - if sender is member of group A - COPY same message to group A mailbox ON THE SERVER....
ok. I get mail - sometimes correctly, sometimes not... Sometimes the mail I get on a local mailbox doesn't always seem to copy to the same mailbox stored on the server.... Sometimes I don't get the little number flag on the side (the one that says you have 1 message unread etc)- occasionally a piece of mail just shows up in a mailbox without saying its there... Its just weird where things are showing up....
obviously - I'm on the wrong track here....

FINALLY - (for you blessed blessed persons who might actually have stuck with me thus far) this question is also another aspect of the above --- when I try to SYNC my computers - I keep getting a message that the synchronization is failing, something didn't log on....
So, basically, nothing between the 3 computers is syncing correctly - and I have crucial info in address book, calendar and email I need on all three....
Getting divorced was less easier than this, I swear to God...
Oh please, please please please, I hope someone can help.... Classes start in two days, and so far I have been unable to prep effectively because this hath driven me mad, mad - I tell you, mad mad mad....

What's wrong about telling you where is the information that you were missing? How was I supposed to know whether you had read articles that you hadn't mentioned when some of your questions are clearly answered there? And even if I knew you had read them, what's wrong about telling you what you were missing there?
If it's the last sentence that you have a problem with, it seems to me that you missed the smiley at the end. Your post was very long and confusing. Thoroughly reading and understanding it all requires way more effort than usual. My last sentence was just an humorous comment about the fact that I couldn't deal with all of it and I might have missed something.

My daughter forgot her password and we took it to Apple for a restore. When they did that it wiped it clean except the email address and password attached. Now, she can not remember her id and password for login to even go through set up. So, does anyone know how to get passed this and reset that so we can start over completly? ty

I tried setting this up on entourage but it's asking me to subscribe to the premium account.
I'm now trying to set it up on the mail account with no joy. At this rate the wife is going to make us go back to the PC... Help!You need to install the HTTPMail plugin.
It seems to not work for some hotmail accounts. If your account is one of those, there is as yet no work around as far as I know, except maybe using MacFreePOPs -

It sounds simple enough, right? I just want to change the view order in my email to put the oldest emails on top and the newest on bottom.

Hopefully Apple will pick up on this and help with our frustration.
Having looked through the forums here and elsewhere I will try a new phone restore on it to see if that helps and report back.

I had the same odd behavior about two weeks after I updated to iOS 5.0 as well.
Updates to 5.0.1 and virgin restores still didn't help. In fact 5.0.1 seemed to make the signal loss and battery drain worse.

The Email Support Team Are Rubbish - Someone Help Please?

My name is Freja and I'm having a complete nightmare! Please help me.
I have two accounts with iTunes, one very old one and my current one. I plugged in my iPod Touch last week and for some reason it asked me to authorise my old account, which I dont know the password for. I was advised to use the iForgot site, which did not work and because I did not know the password, my iPod Touch and all my music I bought with my old account has been frozen (which is a lot of music!).
I was told my account had been deleted (which I wasnt told about) so created another account with the same Apple ID hoping I could trick my laptop and sign in as if my account had never been deleted.
However.
When I type in my password to authorise my account, iTunes tells me my laptop is already authorised with the account and still wont play ANY of my music or play my iPod!
Any ideas guys?
I'd really appreciate it as no-one one the support team seem to want/be able to help,
