Playbook (or Bridge) causing drops between BB Phone and Handsfree car stereo

I have my Playbook bridged to my Storm 2. In my car I have my Storm 2 connected via bluetooth to my hands-free stereo for making/receiving calls and I'm always streaming music from my phone to the stereo.
With the old bridge/OS, the music (connection) would drop or be interrupted for just a second every time I received an email. Annoying, but not a big deal. Sort of let me know I had new messages. Old problem.
Now with OS 2.0 (or new bridge..who knows) the interruptions occur every minute, AND when I get a new message. Its terrible. I have to shut off the Bridge on my phone in the car now in order to stream music.  If I have my tablet suspended it doesn't help. If my tablet is not in the car or off, the problem is not there.
What's odd is that with bridge off, I will still get the little pauses when a new message arrives. I don't get it!
Any one else witnessing this? Any fixes?

I don't know how many people reading this particular forum (PlayBook) have a Curve.  You could also try asking the question in the BB Curve forum at the link below:

I notice the BB Curve forum has threads involving Bridge so someone there may be able to provide help.

  • How can i keep the music pushed to all of families devices but the calendar and notes just between my phone and my mac using icloud?

Ok, so my whole family has the same apple ID so that we can all get the same music, and we want to be able to use icloud so that when one person buys a song it will push to all of our devices. But the problem is when I want my calendar on my mac to also be pushed to my phone it pushes to all of my familys devices. How can i keep the music pushed to everyones but the calendar and notes just between my phone and my mac using icloud?

Oops my bad...I see that during my troubleshooting I inadvertently left Ringtones unchecked in iTunes.

  • My messages are linked somehow between my phone and iPad. I need to make space on my iPad so I want to delete the messages off my iPad only. If I delete my messages off of my iPad, will they also be deleted off of my iPhone?

    Welcome to the Apple community.
If you delete messages on one device they arent deleted on others.

  • Are you able to view contents of text messages between your phone and a particular phone number

I am trying to figure out if you are able to get or view the contents of text messages between my phone and a particular phone number....aka, what we talked about. Is there any way I can do that? Any input would be helpful!!!

    Yes, look on the phone???
I suppose you are someone of who deletes your messages on a regular basis without backing them up in any fashion which leaves you NO other way to view these messages. For future reference, if you feel you may need to review messages in the future, DON'T DELETE THEM.

  • Random, frequent connection drops between Airport Extreme and MBP

I've had my Airport Extreme (on 7.6.1) and MacBook Pro (on 10.5.8) for a bit over a year.
    Never experienced any connection issues.
4 days ago, connectivity issues started out of nowhere (no updates etc). MBP would sometimes not find the Airport at all in Airport Utility (and then of course also can't find the network), and the connection will just break up intermittently - sometimes every 5 minutes, sometimes every half an hour.
Interestingly, other devices work flawlessly, particularly Xbox and PS3, without connection issues. My DSL modem is just fine, so the issue must be somewhere between the MBP and the Airport Extreme.
    WHAT DID HELP (so far)
    - Turning WPA/WPA2 security off entirely, but I cannot have my WPA off forever as neighbours will use my connection and we don't have flatrates in Australia
WHAT DID NOT HELP (so far)
    - Switching from WPA/WPA2 to just WPA
    - Changing the radio mode
    - Switching Connection Sharing from "Share a Public IP Address" to "Off (Bridge Mode)"

  • Can I create a report to show all usage between my phone and one other iphone only?

Is there a way for me to view all iMessages sent/received between my iPhone and another in my contacts?

    Hi Jiangfan,
You cannot insert an image in a post. Hence, use the external link to your website, where the image with the architecture is found. I am sure that anyone wanting to help, will have the patience to put together and understand all information you supply.
Just for reference, some formatting options (not shown in the sidebar) are on the Oracle Discussion Forums FAQ.

  • Can't send imessages between my phone and daughter's phone

My daughter and I were using one login for our iphones. I created a new id. We're unable to send each other imessages. We have restored both phones. When I logged in to this forum using MY apple id, the email was addressed to my daughter. I spent an hour in the phone store yesterday with nothing but a restored phone and lost pictures. Would it help if we just trashed our ids and started over fresh with new ones?

Her phone finally activated imessage. Just took about 30 minutes to do it. Still unable to send imessages to each other. Works fine for other contacts. I just went to update an app on my phone and when it came up for me to enter my password, it was her ID not mine. When I go to settings and look at my iTunes and apple store, it shows my ID. Why would it show up with hers when I go the app store?? This is so frustrating. I feel like there is still something linking them either through email or apple ID but have no idea what it could be.

  • Palm, please fix phone use through car stereos!

I'd been loving using the pre as a hands free device when taking my calls hooked up to the car sound system out of the headphone jack. 1.3.5 broke this, and I was hoping 1.4 would re-engauge it. No dice.
Palm, please-- many of us use this feature (check out precentral and everythingpre). It's also a matter of safety-- in many states (here in California as you well know) it's illegal to use the phone without an earpiece. As many of us use the phone for tunes in the car, fumbling to put on an earpiece and disconnect the audio cord when a call comes in is more dangerous than just pressing a button on an already-connected phone.
We know it wasn't the best quality, with some bounceback to the caller, but it sure was a nice feature and if you're going up against iPhones, my wife's iPhone can still do this just fine.
    Please bring it back.

kiltedtim: that is not good news...
I have a Kenwood car stereo that I plug my iphone 4s into via USB. Stereo interface was working great for 9 months. After updating to 6.1.1 it is has become wonky. Main problem is I cannot access playlists through stereo anymore. Rather, I can select them but the stereo then indicates "No Music."  So I have to select playlists on the iphone to play from them. I can still select all music or specific artists/albums through stereo interface. Also had some difficulty finding way through podcasts using the stereo interface.

Please use the link be low to collect cucm traces and use the advanced editor on the forum (located on top right hand corner of the discussion widnow) to attach the trace
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-29901
Ensure you collect the trace from the folowing
    1. the server that the phone is registered to
    2. If this server is different from the server in the cucm group of the sip trunk, then you need to also collect traces from the server (s) in the cucm group assiged to the sip trunk that connects to the 3rd party cluster...
NB: If you have three servers in the cucm group of the sip trunk, you have to collect the trace from all three servers. This is because calls are dsitributed in a round robin fashion to servers in a sip trunk...
FInally before you send the trace over, please ensure the calling and called numbers are present. Also include the time of the test call

  • Contacts transfer between Motorola phone and Nokia...

    Hi everyone,
Proud owner of a new 8800 in black, i want to transfer my contacts from my old Motorola U6 PEBL to the new phone...I can always transfer them one by one with a bluetooth connection between the two phones but will take me forever..I tried to do it through a PC (backing up contacts from the U6 and trying to restore it on the nokia through PC suite.. but can't find the back up file from Motorola).
    any help much appreciated!!!

I don't think the manufactureres of different phone model support each other for hand overs.
You could try to syncronise your contacts from old Moto to Outlook (I think there is a software called Mobile Phone Tools or something available for that)and from Outlook then sync your data to Nokia

  • Difference between Soft Phones and Hard Phones

What is the difference between a frame sent by an IP Communicator (for example) and an IP Phone 7960? What is the difference of the frames sent by these 2 devices. Thank you!

There is no difference, they work exactly in the same way. The softphone sends the same packets than a normal phone. You can take a sniffer trace on both to verify that.

  • Bridging the gap between Mac Mini and iMac

Does anyone agree that Apple needs to add another model between the Mac Mini and the iMac? I think they need something like a Mac Mini Plus. Two models, one with the 1.83GHz Core Duo and one with the 2.0GHz Core Duo. The unit itself would be slightly larger than the standard Mini and include a PCI Express slot with several video card options and a faster (7200RPM) hard drive. Personally, I hesitate to buy an iMac because of the built in monitor. I would prefer to buy a separate LCD flat panel monitor that I could keep for years and use with different Mac models as I upgrade. As for the current Mac Mini, it's video and processor options are on the low end, albeit perfect for the casual user, but for someone that wants to do some gaming or video editing, they don't quite cut it.
Don't get me wrong here, I love the elegant design of the iMac, but I think Apple needs to offer something that allows us to have the iMac equivalent computing power without the built in monitor and without having spend a thousand more on a PowerMac.
Athlon XP 1800+   Windows XP Pro

Yes, I'd love something in the form of a Mac Mini that was closer in spec to the iMac.
Honestly, the only reason I won't buy an iMac CoreDuo is the built-in monitor.
And, the only reason I won't buy a new Mac Mini is that they are underpowered.
I have owned two iMac G5 systems, and both had serious faults with their built-in LCD panel.
The first would permanently etch in anything on the screen for every hour of intensive use.
It wouldn't etch it in in normal use. But, if I did any of my audio work, it would heat up the system so hot that the image on the screen would literally cook into the LCD panels plastic surface.
It literally looked like you took a razor blade, and precisely carved the exact image into the surface of the screen. Pretty nasty looking. Nothing would get rid of it, and it would happen every time I did my audio editing / processing work for an hour.
Naturally, the more work I did, the worse it got. I only got two editing sessions out of an LCD panel before having it replaced.
After going through that for a while, I sold the system after having a fresh panel installed under warranty.
I got tired of damaging the screen after every hour of work.
The second iMac G5 was purchased a year later. That one also suffered permanent damage to it's LCD panel. But, not quite as noticeable.
I know that there are a bunch of people getting ready to hit me with the "Image Persistence" explanation. But, trust me, I know about Image Persistence, and this wasn't it.
I was seeing actual permanent screen burn-in (which is not supposed to happen on LCD panels).
The service tech was absolutely amazed at the appearance of my screen. And, yes we verified it was the actual panel that was damaged. He wouldn't replace it without verifying that it was the panel itself.
Anyway, I called to arrange service on the second system again, and before I could get it in there, the backlight started flickering. And, I had already had tons of other stuff fixed on the machine. So, I sold it and bailed-out.
Now, after all the problems I've had with the built-in screens on the iMac G5 systems, I don't want another Apple product with a built-in screen. I want to use my own LCD panel.
I have an LCD panel that I'm using now. It's about 3 years old, and only cost me $200. And, it doesn't have even the slightest indication of image burn-in or image persistence. I use it every day, and use it just like I did the iMacs.
So, what I want now, is a machine comparable to the iMac CoreDuo, but without the built-in screen.
The current Mac Mini's cost way too much for their very low specifications.
I already have a Mac Mini G4. It's underpowered as well. But, no worse-off than the current Mac Minis.
Now, if Apple produced a Mac Mini with identical specs to the iMac, I'd gladly buy it.
Even better for them, I'd pay the same price as the current iMac to get it without the built-in monitor.
Yes, that's right, I'd pay the full price of the iMac to get a Mac Mini without a monitor if it was of the same specifications otherwise.
The current Mac Mini is obviously stripped-down to prevent competition with the iMac. But, I think they'd find that they would simply expand their user base if they offered a better Mini.
With their product line as it is, the current Mac Mini is not a compelling machine, and the iMac is not an option because of it's built-in monitor.
Get me a high-end Mac Mini and you've got a sale.

  • Troubleshooting VPN drops between 871 client and 2811

My small company uses a 2811 ISR for VPN services (among other tasks such as internet access, p2p circuits to a second site, etc). I have a couple of remote users that have 871 routers that have occasional problems with their routers dropping their VPN tunnels to the 2811. I'm not really sure where to start with the troubleshooting. There are other clients (such as my own 871W) that seem to maintain a connection for weeks. These remote routers that do drop the connection usually reconnect at their next schedule attempt (180 seconds or so.)
Most of the previous questions I've seen similar to this involve software clients but these are hardware routers as the clients and as such I'm not sure how to enable or retrieve logs for the VPN sessions.
