Playbook OS v.1.0.6.2390 Upgrade

Available for download 304 mb

It technically cannot have its own BBM without a blackberry data plan. Mainly because it doesnt have access to the BIS network. Thats why Bridge is needed, to use your phones BIS connection.
I would assume that native BBM would be in the future models with a sim card (3G,4G)
but thats my speculation however.

  • Bridge Messages will not load messages after 1.0.6.2390 upgrade

After I updated to 2390, messages will not load, after about 5 minutes it will display content of last message but left side message list will not populate. I just keep giving me the GREEN CIRCLE WAITING and will not load messages. This is the first time I've had any problems with bridge messages. All the other bridge apps (calendar, notes, contacts, bridge browser) all work. I un-installed bridge from my phone (ver 1.0.0.93) and re-installed it, still no luck. I re-booted PB, no luck. Is anybody else having a bridge message problem since 1.0.6.2390 update.

Knottyrope, I deleted all bluetooth profiles, phone and PB, did battery pull on phone, playbook reset. paired phone with PB and after 8 minutes I can see the header of 1 email message and under the All messages list on left side it is blank and the GREEN CIRCLE of WAITING is still spinning.
Calender works, contacts works, Bridge browser works, bridge files works, but bridge messages will not load.
I never had any problem with bridge messages working through all the previous OS upgrades.
If you did all of that, then maybe there is an issue we cant help with, please call support to get your PlayBook logs, so RIM can address it in a future release or maybe they have a fix we dont know about.

  • Catch-22'd, can't connect PlayBook to desktop because I can't upgrade the OS because I can't connect it to desktop.

Hi. So, bit of a story here, but my blackberry is officially "Property of Research in Motion", and it arrived as… a PlayBook in a padded manialla envelope, and nothing else. I started it up, reset the system because I didn't know the password, and now I'm at the problem where it asks me to agree to something in the setup, but it won't tell me what and won't let me advance or retry.
This video is an example of the problem I'm having, only with more options in the menu near the end. My menu has no options. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3NpMA6YsBAM
So, according to my research, the solution to this is to download the latest desktop manager and use it to upgrade the PlayBook OS so the bug stops happening.
So, when I attach the PlayBook to my computer it makes the little USB-plugged-in noise, pops up the Blackberry Manager thing. However, it just says 'connect a device' on a grey background. I've waited, and the message doesn't go away. (I'm using Windows XP sp3 here, btw, and I downloaded the manager today, version 610_b038.) So, I tried another cable, because that's what might be wrong. One shopping trip later, we know it's not the cable.
Looking up the solution to the manager not recognising the PlayBook, I find that I need to turn WiFi off, restart the tablet, and then it's all good. Well, that'd be nice, but since I'm in 'setup' mode I can't seem to do that. When I turn the wifi off (disconnect button) and restart, when the tablet turns back on it reconnects the wifi.
So, I need to upgrade the tablet software to be able to complete the setup process on it. I need to have completed the setup process in order to upgrade the software.
    What do I do?

isnt there a go bak button to get to wifi setup again?
also have you rebootedyour WiFi router? I had to do this at my house for an upgrade as the Routers DHCP server got confused and after reboot it worked fine.

  • Playbook Browser won't work after software upgrade

Having upgraded to the latest version today, the Browser on my device will not work.
When you click on the browser it opens briefly and closes after about 5 seconds.
This affects other applications that rely on the browser to connect to the internet of their source.
    Any ideas?

Thanks for your prompt response.  I am able to use the Dolphin Browser so it's not the end of the world, but the Blackberry browser has my favourites etc loaded, so would prefer to use it day to day.

  • .bbb; "tasks" and "memo"; Curve 8520; Playbook

I have a BlackBerry Curve 8520 and a BlackBerry Playbook.
Short context: Destroyed phone but salvaged the SIM.
    Curve was synched to Playbook.
Playbook contains thesis information that I NEED to recover: Specifically, “tasks” and “memo” items.
Used BlackBerry Desktop Manager ver. 7.1 to backup Playbook bbb files.
Ver. 7.* of software will let me specify “organiser” function to isolate the files I need.
Uninstalled, reinstalled, uninstalled, reinstalled…yadda yadda yadda…  various archived versions of the software tried, but none work.  Currently have active on PC ver. 5.0 – PC is Windows XP).
Have tried to recover the Playbook data in .bbb file.  Have tried BlackBerry Backup Extractor (cannot find *any* files).  Have tried “PhoneMiner.”  Have tried “Magic Berry.”  Have also tried renaming .bbb files as .zip (all “copies” – not the original backup file). 7-Zip recovers .tar files, but all refer to applications.
So…I’m thinking that in the ver. 7.1 of the software, it might not have actually backed up “memo” and “tasks” files.  However, ver. 5.0 doesn’t seem to recognise the Playbook.  When connecting Playbook to PC, I am prompted to upgrade software from the “Playbook directory.”
So, BB Desktop Manager ver. 5.* doesn’t recognise Playbook.  Version 7.* of BB Desktop Manager gives me the error message
But, in so doing, the software (ver. 7.* of BlackBerry Desktop Manager) doesn’t allow me to specify the “memo” and “task” in the “Organiser” tab.  Instead, I get an error message, and the prompt to www…/docs for support.
BlueTooth is not yet reconfigured and set up (but I am having a great deal of difficulty setting up the WiFi on my Curve, despite manually entering PSK when autodetect fails) but I am in no rush about this as I have not yet synched Curve with Playbook.  I’m afraid that the Curve will overwrite the Playbook (and purge the “memo” and “tasks”).
I am making the assumption that the files are still on Playbook, but I can’t confirm this as a) BB Desktop manager using versions that recognise Playbook will not let me specify “memo” and “tasks” files in the “organiser” function, b) there has been no synch yet with an “empty” Curve.  There has been no auto synch either as lauching “memo,” for instance, on Playbook, prompts the search for a connection to the Curve, which it cannot find.  Once connection is established, will Curve automatically overwrite the Playbook files effectively deleting “memo” and “tasks” files?
Bottom line is this: I need to get “memo” and “tasks” from Playbook.  How can I ensure the retrieval of “memo” and “tasks” files?
Sorry for “too much info” as I wanted to offer as much as might be necessary.
Sincerest thanks for 1) reading this post to the end; 2) considering my issue; 3) offering a solution, and 4) offering a solution that works!

    Woops.  Sorry forgot this detail.
    I have a new Curve 8520 -- not the Curve 8520 destoryed.

  • Broken Links

    Greetings,
I'm reading the Style 9670 pamphlet from BlackBerry, and I noticed that the following links no longer work:
    http://www.blackBerry.com/style9670support
    http://www.blackBerry.com/style9670accessories
I hate it when a company deletes web pages like this.
    Shane.
    Z10 STL100-3 (version 10.3.1.2708)
    LTE Playbook (version 2.1.0.1917)

The upgrade document appears to be "missing" (working on that), but the other issue has been resolved. Thanks for reporting.

  • Can't transfer files from PC to PB

    Hi,
    I just bought a 32gb playbook, software version 1.0.6.2390.
The whole purpose of buying a 32GB device is to store stuff from PC into the PB for mobility. However, it can't be done.
I've tried using desktop software, but it kept on saying "A problem occurred while attempting to connect to your Blackberry device".
I've tried to open the folder and copy files directly into the PB (Windows 7 Pro), but it says "You need permission to access this device". I am already an administrator on this PC yet I have no permission?
Rebooted PB, this time as I connect, PC asked for password. Entered the password, same thing happens.
Can someone please assist? If it can't be done, I'll stop wasting time with it.
    Lai

Why not just using the USB connection and Windows explorer, I know that on my computers, when I connect the Playbook, it get the Z: assigned and it can be access as any other drive on my computer
And also if you enable the WIFI sharing you can also access the Playbook from a computer, and it appears as a network drive.
Both of those option  work very well over here
Using the Playbook and the Z10 and the Z30 and loving them
    Martin

  • Screen sensitivity loss

I'm experiencing screen sensitivity loss on my wife’s playbook wifi 64g. I had just upgraded to OS version 2.1.1088 a couple days ago when suddenly the problem first started. Trying to fix it, I cleaned the screen (even the narrow space between the screen and the external contour of the device) and made a hardware reset. None of these solved the problem. Then I made a security clean of the device and a re-installed the OS. The problem persisted. I found that sometimes changing the finger I use when typing does overcome the problem, although just for a few types (two or three) until it arises again. I need to wait a few seconds before continuing or hard depress the screen more than once until I get any response from the tablet. Is there any way to tune screen sensitivity or is it a hardware flaw? Can anyone help me here?

A security wipe is not the same thing as a fresh OS re-install. Security wipe only deletes files/programs on the PB but doesn't touch the OS level. You need to reinstall the OS completely from the Desktop Software. If you search these forums there are lots of threads on how to perform this. Google is full of tutorials too. I have posted several myself...if you search for these kinds of threads you will find instructions on how to do this.
As Jarviser says though, if that doesn't solve your problems, then it's hardware related and you should contact RIM Technical Support via telephone for your options. If you are not in your 90 free phone support window, then you will have to pay for the support call - usually via credit card.

  • Upgraded Playbook to 2.0.1.358 and can no longer sync with PC

I upgraded to the latest software version for the PlayBook via wi-fi. I had no issues until I attempted to sync my PB with my pc to copy over pictures and videos from my PB. I do this sync about every 3 weeks or so. When I first plugged in the Playbook to my pc (Sony Vaio w/ Windows 7) I received a message about drivers being installed. When my Playbook was acknowledged by  BB Desktop Manager it incorrectly read that my PB software version was 0.0.0.0 and prompted me to upgrade. I downloaded and installed the software (again). All looked successful again, however when I attempted to access the Media Sync options I received a message that "media services are not available" and that "your blackberry device is not compatible with this features". Now, when I connect my PB to my pc via USB cable it does not even trigger DM to open. If I manually open DM then it recognizes that a PB is connected and starts a full back up. If I let the back up complete then it triggers me to do an update to the latest software version (which I already have installed but DM continually shows that my PB software version is 0.0.0.0). If I install the upgrade as instructed then I am prompted to disconnect and reboot the PB. When I do this loop starts all over again. A full back up starts and I am prompted again after that to install the latest PB software. How do I get out of this loop and back to being able to sync all my media from my PB to my pc. Also, when I have my PB connected and I look at Windows Explorer, it does not list my PB as a drive. However, if my PB is connected to my wi-fi network I can see it on the network. I copied my pictures/videos via the network (turned on sharing on the PB) as a workaround but this is not how I wanted to manage my file transfers. PLEASE HELP. I spent all day yesterday googling for answers and similar experiences by others and I don't know how to fix this. I am tempted to create an incident request with Blackberry/RIM to resolve this but thought I would try here first. Appreciate any responses.

I to have exprianced this problem.  I upgraded my os and now when I try to connect my Playbook to my computer, the Desktop Manager does not connect and prompts my to upgrade.  After turning off my Virus Protection, firewall, trying several times, rebooting both playbook and computer, I started to install the upgrade through Desktop Manager.  After a few minuites I decided this was probably counterproductive so I canceled the install.  Not sure but since the upgrade, my computer will not connect to the Playbook.  Ideas?

  • Help! Playbook OS upgrade blew me away - cannot connect to Desktop SW anymore

I got notice of an OS upgrade and accepted it.  After upgrading the OS and upgrading the Desktop and Driver on my Win 7/64-bit laptop, I can no longer successfully connect my Playbook to the Desktop Manager on my laptop.
    OS is 2.0.1.358
    BB Device Manager is 7.0
BB Desktop SW is 7.2011 (Bundle 38)
I have done everything I can thing of, rerunning the process 12 times without joy.   My Playbook says, "Connected to Computer" and I can see the CD directory, but the Desktop SW says, "Disconnected" no matter what I do.  I have tried multiple USB cables, rebooted both the PB and the laptop numerous times, yet each time I attempt to connect, the Desktop SW says "Disconnected."
I am hoping, since I made sure not to check the box to delete everything when I reinstalled the Desktop SW, that the pictures and apps I had installed on the initial version of 2.0 have not been tossed.  Apparently, the AppStore does not keep track of what apps I have bought or installed previously, so I think they are all lost forever.  I can reload many of the pictures I had on it before, but some I haven't transferred may be lost forever.  I am not seeing a "safety net" - heck, my Amazon account remembers everything I put on my Kindle.
I had been doing a full backup via the Desktop SW every week, just in case, but if reinstalling the Desktop SW dumped everything I am going to have to find a safer and more reliable means of backing up in the future.
If you have any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate hearing them.  I really would like to get my PB back into working order, preferably with all the apps and pictures I had on it before...
    Mikey

Can you start the "firmware recovery"-mode  ? (Connect  playbook powerd off to pc, then a message for recovery will appear?)
My W-Lan is completely secure. Wether I nor a hacker would use it with a playbook

  • Playbook won't boot after upgrade to v2

I did my OTA upgrade this morning, and it downloaded and appeared to apply successfully.  I hit the "restart" button and the playbook has been stuck at the shiny lights splash screen since.
I've even done a hard reset - still stuck.  I can't get it to boot up.  Upgrade FAIL.
Anyone know how I should begin troubleshooting this?  This is my one and only Blackberry device (not encouraging).
If I haven't backed up in a few days (I know, I know...), can I redownload recently purcahsed apps? How can I even find them? Will they show in App World if they aren't installed?
    Thanks in advance,

Mine took over 15 min to reboot.

  • Playbook - Appworld Fails to Open after 'Upgrade Required'

I've un-installed, and re-installed the Playbook OS from desktop manager, as well as wiping it from the security settings and re-updating the playbook. 2 times each way.
Everything goes AOK, until I opend appworld. A prompt appears stating that  an upgrade is required. When I upgrade it closed Appworld, and when I re-open it, it's stuck on a colorful 'loading' screen and won't load.
If I deleted my wifi connection and re-add it, I can then select updates, it finds a 3MB update, which I run and then I'm right back to square 1. Open appworld, and it prompts for an upgrade.
