Playbook Support from Blackberry (RIM) poor

I must say I am very disappointed with my new 64 gig wifi BB playbook. I see many posts regarding users not being able to acces their files through bridge (pictures , music , docs. No printing option on the playbook , When you want to save from email to your plybook ,mine only gives me an option to save to my phone. My biggest problem at present is Bridge files which is not functional at all. Just displays . Ther are no files .........
Rim must really get to the party and fix this as they are dead quiet. We have no such problems AT ALL with our Apple IPAD 2.

I saw so many complaines in the forums, but never has any solution from RIM.
You will probably never see any solution from RIM in these forums.  The only feedback you'll get from RIM is if you call their support line and even then, there are probably people that know more about the Playbook in these forums than the people answering RIM's support line.
RIM is too busy trying to figure out why their stock price has dropped so much to waste any time worrying about their customers.

    Hello,
There is nothing new with what you describe. BlackBerry has NEVER provided direct-to-user support. Rather, all support follows the formal support channels -- which start with the carriers, authorized resellers, and authorized service centers (it varies by region and by issue), each who can escalate cases into BlackBerry if needed.
This site has NEVER been an channel for any formal communications with, escalations to, nor support from BlackBerry for any purpose whatsoever. This site is a user-to-user community of volunteers who try to help each other out with various situations. But it is not a replacement for formal support, for that is (contractually) available via only one channel, and it's not here.
    Good luck!

  • Lack of support from Blackberry in Australia

I have been trying to get my hands on a BB Passport since it was released last year so I can see what it feels like in the hand before I part with my money and buy the phone but it has been near impossible. The only carrier to carry the Passport in Australia is Optus and even they are pulling out of selling the device because Blackberry has been a right royal pain to deal with. None of the stores have a demo device you can check out and unless you commit to buy the device, they will not order the device for you.
Here's what confuses me ... Blackberry are behind the 8 ball in trying to salvage some degree of company pride and needing to rebuild their business. It would make sense to make these devices more available to more carriers so that people like me can buy them and "fly the BB Flag" but on the contrary ... BB are playing hard to get and making it had for people like me to stay with the brand. Poor, poor marketing. I am very dissapointed in the way the product has been launched in Australia

Who told you BB is a "royal pain to deal with?" My guess is it's just the opposite. The carriers are the royal pain to deal with. They delay software updates, they decline to sell or carry devices, they deny people the escalation to BlackBerry support when needed, etc.
I can assure you if the carriers would allow it, BlackBerry would put more devices on their shelves. They only want to make room for Samsung and Apple.

  • No Direct support for BlackBerry PlayBook tablet - why not I just bought it?

I've just bought a playbook. It says it comes with complimentary technical support for 90 days form the date of purchase. I have attempted to register the device using the S/N number as required and I get the following:
Unfortunately, your BlackBerry® PlayBook™ tablet does not qualify for Complimentary Support. You can, however, get assistance using incident based support from Research In Motion.
    Why? grrrrrrrrrrrr

It should be. The complimentary support is just for help setting it up.
If you visit http://blackberry.com/support and follow the link for PlayBook you should get a phone number you can call, and RIM support will be able to help you.

  • Here's a tease from a RIM PM on the status of BB10 for the PlayBook

This is a table scrap of positive news from a RIM Project Manager that something is in the pipes for the PlayBook for sure...when it will arrive is the unknown factor though. The question was: "So hows BB 10 for the PlayBook coming?" The reply says: "My lips are sealed! Good things to come. John" (If you right click on the image below and select view image it will enlarge in the same window in FireFox - most likely IE or Chrome too.)
I mean, we've heard nothing for quite some time officially that BB 10 was coming to the PlayBook. So, to me at least, this states that something is indeed coming to the PlayBook and reinforces that fact. It doesn't say anything else obviously. But reassurance is comforting.

RIM has stated all along that BB10 would be coming to the PlayBook sometime AFTER the launch of the BB10 for the smartphone devices. They've not been silent on that, and John's is just the latest in confirmations.
Thanks, can't wait to have it on the PB!

  • RIM Playbook Support

As the tablet market continues to evolve, we continue to evaluate how to best support the market and where to focus on our resources.  Because of this,  Adobe has decided to end its support of the  RIM QNX Playbook devices in March 2012.  This means the ability to create new applications for submission to the RIM store will no longer be possible in Adobe Viewer Builder as well as the ability to rebuild existing targets for new releases of Digital Publishing Suite. Any existing QNX targets will be removed from the manage view inside Viewer Builder.
Existing applications in the RIM store will continue to function and content fulfillment to those applications will continue. Additional content authored for those applications will continue working.
It is important that you download existing QNX applications from Viewer Builder prior to March 16.  After March 16, you will no longer be able to access these applications.

    Very bad
But is better improve the resources to Android and Apple. The mainly stores market.

There's no formal method of doing so. You could PM a mod and request it, otherwise just don't post or show up anymore.

I've contacted the Lenovo Support in Poland and they tend to tell that this is because Microsoft has invalidated my codes for unknown reason. Contacting Microsoft they told me that it its vendor's (Lenovo) problem and they are not responsible - shall I obtain new licence key from Lenovo. The Polish Thinkpad support is working on the problem since January the 9th, with no success.
The Windows grace period is already over and I cannot use my ultrabook now without activating the licence.
Is this the famous Thinkpad support quality? I already own 4 Thinkpads and sorry gyus but I'm considering swithing to some other vendor.
When I called them, the solution provided by the Thinkpad support was... "would you please reainstall the OS once more to get another grace period?" I was thinking it was a kind of joke, but it wasn't... Asking for the responsibility of the Lenovo for the Windows OS they provided I was told that Lenovo is not responsible and I was given the advice to buy the hardware with no OS next time, have box licence from Microsoft separatelly.
I'm really disappointed. This is my last Thinkpad I believe. It seems even having the warranty it is not enoug to get support from Lenovo - I'm on my own...

    P.

    Solved!
Finally I've got another DVD recovery set from Lenovo. Now it works. Seems that the first DVD set was invalid .

  • PGP Support for BlackBerry Update

    Hi,
Are there any plans, dates or details for an update to the PGP Support for Blackberry package?
Also, what is the process for logging & tracking feature requests relating to this package?
The particular feature we desperately want to see is:
To give a user the ability to send an encrypted e-mail with attachments from a BlackBerry device that is operating the PGP Support for BlackBerry package.
Currently the package can receive (decrypt) emails with attachments and only send (encrypt) emails without attachments. There is no workaround for this and it is a mayor limitation of the PGP Support for BlackBerry package. It is holding back the package from being rolled out to a larger market audience, and limiting existing users tremendously.
This feature request has now been logged with Symantec:
    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/ideas/pgp-support-blackberry-encrypted-e-mail-attachments
    and emailed to [email protected]
Any advice, comments or thoughts are welcomed.
    Thanks,

I too would love to see this update! I feel most of RIM's resources are probably being put into getting BB 10 and infrastructure ready for launch?
My workaround for this issue is to install the SMIME support package and have users send encrypted attachments via SMIME. PGP support package has been updated to work with the SMIME package (to a degree). It automatically looks up certificates attached to the PGP users keys and encrypts and decrypts based on those public/private certificates.
Unfortunely the SMIME package isnt as user friendly, users contantly have to hit the blackberry button and then more or more all to load the entire message for longer messages and messages with attachments.
So far I can't seem to get AES Encryption working with the SMIME support package, only have managed to get 3DES and a few other inferior encryption algoriths to work with the SMIME package.

    hello,
I think you'll have much more answers if you post in one of the three discussion boards "Blackberry Development" :
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/rim?category.id=BlackBerryDevelopment
Anyways, RIM has a website for people who want to start developing, it's here :

  • Need to access EM 12c from Blackberry OS 7.1

CT is unable to access 12c console from Blackberry OS 7.1.
Is there any estimated data when it will be supported?

OS 7.1 is a leaked version at this point. Installing a leaked OS is risky if you run into problems because your carrier will only support versions that they've released.
Plug your phone into and revert back to an earlier OS using BlackBerry Desktop Software. Once you've done that, post back and we'll help you.
    We await your reply.

  • Need help from Blackberry - Can't register 9860 in BB network.

Yesterday I have bought a 9860 torch from an online auction site in Romania. The phone is looking great, working great, except I cannot register it on the blackberry network, in order to use an internet data plan. As soon as I turned the phone on, the yesOPTUS carrier logo appeared on the screen, indicating that this device once belonged to someone in Australia. My carrier is Orange Romania and I am using it on a pre-paid SIM card with the "blackberry unlimited 4" internet option that Orange offers in Romania. When I try to go to Host Routing Table in the phone's menu, there is nothing displayed there. I tried to send the registration message and remove the battery (while the decice is ON) and put it back in, with no result. I have spent a day on the phone with the data plans support team at Orange Romania, virtually troubleshooting every possibility to connect the device to the bb network - they even created a bb access point specifically for my phone number - everything without result. When I tried to create a blackberry account on blackberry.orange.ro with my PIN and IMEI, the page replied that my account is disabled and that I should contact my carrier. Which I did. And they said that I should either talk to Blackberry or yesOPTUS, as there is a possibility that my device is already registered with the BB network on the yesOPTUS, from it's first owner back in Australia, and that my PIN may need to be erased from a database in order to be re-synced with my carrier. The way I see it, it's either that, or Orange does not carry the 9860 in their network (yet?). The certain fact is that I ended up with a beautiful device that I can't use to it's fully potential. Any help from Blackberry is fully appreciated. Thanks.

Optus is in the only one that can remove the PIN/IMEI from their system. You need to contact them.
If the device has been reported lost or stolen, they won't remove it.
