  • Talking to New People on Playbook Video Chat : App Idea

    Hi,
I had this idea to create an app that can help you discover people with similar interests and connect to them via Playbook video chat.
There will be no registration necessary. The application will manage discovery of people. This would be great for meeting new friends, business contacts or just someone to video of voice chat.
    Your thoughts?

That could be good, I look forward to seeing it

  • New OS2 Playbook Video Chat

    Hi,
After uploading all my contacts in new os2 playbook ,
I surprisingly got all - who have playbook - in my videochat without any confirmation?
Thats not only friends I have in my contacts, its some business contacts and so on,
and I dont want those people in my videochat  at all.
Now - if you try to delete a contact from videochat - it deleted automatically from contact list as well
    ????? Very frustrated.
I need contact in my contact list, but dont want this person to be connected to my videochat .
Looks like some logic is missing here.

Same BBID will not work for video chat.
you will need to wipe and have a new BBID to vid chat

  • Playbook video chat service error

Had no problems up until yesterday and now can't connect. have tried powering down and restarting but to no avail, any ideas?

    Hey AuntieKaret,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
Are you currently connected to a Wi-Fi network?  Also are you trying to connect to another BlackBerry PlayBook or a BlackBerry 10 smartphone?
When was the last time you could successfully connect to video chat?
I look forward to your reply.
    Cheers.

  • Blackberry Playbook Video Chat Connection Problems

    Hi
trying to use the Video Chat App, i have found that almost that the app is not working 50% of the time due to the way it is designed.
Most corporate environment will provide a tight security on their network and are very unlikely to open their firewall to peer to peer applications.
considering that RIM always aimed at the corporate, this is rather disappointing.
Even if some companies were to open their firewall. there is no guarantee that the person you want to talk to will
i have this in home network, corporate network and some hotels HSIA and only succedeed to have it working on home network.
I hope that RIM is working on an alternative method of connection that do not require port opening on firewall.
Should someone from RIM read this, comments will be appreciated.
    thanks

    Dear Cpts
    Thank you for your reply.
However, as it stand, I have not found one corporate network that allows by default Video Chat.
This means that all your corporate client (including ourselves) cannot use the application.
Other Web based application such as Skype, Messenger, both providing Audio and Video are working natively.
Wether a company decides to allow the use of those, or block those is then a matter of choice.
Providing a service to the Corporate Market that does not work, is in my opinion less than useful.
Great App... but cannot use it. as I will never know if our users are within a Wi-Fi network that will allow them to use it.
Imagine if BBM was in the same predicament.. Can only use it is port xx are opened.
Video Chat is the next level to BBM but cannot be used.
Our corporate users are travelling worldwide using a multitude of Wi-Fi network, and I cannot rely on this application for effective method of comminucation.
I sncerely hope that RIM will rethink the communication method, in a more transparent manner.
    Thank you
    Kind regards

  • PlayBook Contact & Calendar Sync/Video Chat - can't get them to work

I love my PlayBook ((OS 2.1.0.1088) and as a BB9790 user had never bothered to try to use native contacts/calendar applications until recently when a couple of relatives bought PBs and asked me questions. I have a number of GMail accounts which work brilliantly for mail receiving and sending on the PB, but have failed totally to get contacts and calendar to sync despite selecting that option for one of these. In desparation created a new Hotmail account, imported some key Outlook contacts and tried to sync them with my PB. Nothing. If I try to create a new contact I always get the message after tapping to enter the contact information: "Application was interrupted. Please close and open it again to continue." If I do that and restart contacts, nothing changes. I tried deleting all my email accounts and starting again with a GMail as the primary email with sync for contacts and calendar, but the problem persists. This also impacts Video Chat as it uses the same contact application so is unusable. If I search Contacts it appears to do a remote lookup but never finds any contacts.
The Calendar application when opened just shows the Calendar app icon in the top left corner with 31 and no calendar. Swiping down to show the settings, indicates 3 GMail calendars from different accounts are in place and if I press refresh it suggests a sync is taking place but no calendar framework ever appears, let alone entries.
Would appreciate any suggestions as I have read all the related PB contacts' forums which haven't offered a solution to this particular issue. Thanks

  • Can't find the Video Chat application on my PlayBook

    Hey all,
I live in Saudi Arabia, I'm only stating where I live cause I have a feeling that this might be the reason of my problem. Anyway I can't find the video chat application icon on my playbook although I've updated its software to the latest OS 1.0.7 ---- I hope some1 help me with that cause I need this application desperately.
    Thanks

it may not be available to customers in saudi Arabia, if so do security wipe setting up with a proxy server in the US or Canada. This way you will have the video chat software.

  • Video Chat plus other apps not on new Playbook - IN CANADA

I am trying to do some research on this one.  I bought a new 16GB PB from Best Buy a couple days ago.  I signed up for a BB ID, and then setup the PB with that ID.  Everything's working, but I am missing Video Chat, Twitter, Youtube, Facebook among other things.  I have tried security wipes.....a full OS recovery from the DM software......tried creating a second BB ID# with all the same results.
I know that some countries can't have those apps.....but why is my PB thinks I am not in Canada.  I run no proxies or anything on my home network.  I just want to know if anyone has ideas.  If I call into support, will it be something that can be fixed.  Maybe the PIN on the device is showing the wrong country or something like that.  I dunno.

I had the same problem. Called tech support and was on the phone for an hour and a half and they still don't know why it is happening. I returned the playbook figuring it was a problem with the device itself. My husband bought me a new one and the same thing happened. He bought one for himself and it has everything on it. I don't understand why mine is screwing up. Good luck and if you find anything out, please post

  • Video Chat from my PlayBook to Z10

    Hi,
I have a Playbook and a Z10, both of which are on separate BBID's. Till about 2-3 months back, I was able to video chat from my Playbook  to my Z10. However, I am not able to do that now and I get the message 'COntact's unavailable'. But, I can still do a video chat from my Z10 to the Playbook using the notifications. This is only happening with my Z10. My brother also has a Z10 and I am able to call him from my Playbook.
    Can you help resolve this
    Thanks

    Dear kulpreet
I know that you have been waiting an exceedingly long time for a reply.
Today I made my first attempt to use the video chat application for my BlackBerry PlayBook, only just minutes before this post.
If you are still unable to receive your video chat between you and your loved one, I suggest that you add details to both your phone and PlayBook again.
I have just experimented with my phone and PlayBook, at that using my phone as a hospital for my PlayBook, I was still able to get a connection between the two.
My playbook did complete the connection but when I replied from phone to playbook, playbook did not seem to connect.
Maybe due to having the same connector had to do with it, but it did attempt.
I believe the connection is made through your BB10 via your BBM.
I hope this will help you and others in the near future.
    Yours sincerely

  • Video Chat via Playbook PIN's, having problems...

I have two Playbooks on OS2.0 sharing the same Blackberry ID. I'm trying to use Video Chat via Playbook PIN's and I'm not having any luck. Call attempts fail with "The person you called is not currently available".
    - both Playbooks have Accept Calls On
    - both Playbooks are on the same home wi-fi network, i.e. same router
    - the router has firewall enabled (Toggling off the firewall doesn't seem to help and I'd rather have it on. Skype works from the desktop computer with firewall on.)
    - in Contacts, both Playbooks show each other with green video chat icons. Turning off Accept Calls will actually change the state of the video chat icon to gray, as expected. (The state change doesn't update immediately, but after a failed call.) This tells me that the Playbooks are talking to RIM's servers?
    - I'm not getting the "A Firewall is preventing Video Chat from connecting" or "Unable to Connect to Server" error messages. http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB26845 This leads me to believe that the Playbooks are able to see RIM's servers?
    - Some people have reported that putting the Playbook in the DMZ (DeMilitarized Zone) of the router works, but it's risky security-wise (The Playbook is open to the general internet.). My router only allows for one IP address in the DMZ, which isn't useful with my two Playbooks.
    - The alternative to DMZ is port forwarding, which is more secure. My router only allows specific IP's to be used and since the Playbook IP's are dynamically allocated, setting this isn't helpful. http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB26816
Could someone with two Playbooks sharing the same Blackberry ID's please try to use Video Chat via Playbook PIN's and report whether it works or not? I'd like to isolate out whether it's a problem with Video Chat or my router/home wi-fi.
    Thank you!

It won't work since they have the same blackberry ID.
I have tried many time and it won't work. Only the playbook that last connected to app world can use video chat.
