Playbook & Virgin superhub Please help

Hi i have just bought a blackberry playbook and started to set up all going well until it stated to update software to complete my set up. I did this and the playbook completed step 1 but would not install the update (step 2) and just keeps restarting and retrying to no success
I have looked online and have seen a few posts saying the playbook doesnt work with the virgin superhub or i need to change my superhub wireless channels from g to n or n to g im unsure as im not really tech minded but have followed a few of the guides and all seem to make matters worse. mainly just stopping my internet altogether
Can anyone help me with this or will i accept defeat and take this back ?

I'm going to assume you have no data on the PlayBook at this point since it's brand new.
Install BlackBerry Desktop Manager to your computer.
This can be downloaded for free from www.blackberry.com/desktop
Unplug your PlayBook from the computer and then push and hold down the Power Button until the unit Force Powers Off.
Open Desktop Software and while Desktop Software is open on your computer and the PlayBook still Powered Off, Connect the PlayBook to your computer.
You should see an error screen from Desktop Software pop up that has the options to Retry, Update, or Cancel.
QUICKLY choose the Update option.
This will erase all the information off of your PlayBook and Re-Write the Software back onto it. Once it's complete your PlayBook will need to go back through the setup wizard, and you can then try the setup again.
Post back with your results.

If you're receiving the flashing green LED light, it sounds like the BlackBerry PlayBook battery is completely drained. I suggest plugged the BlackBerry PlayBook into the wall charger for several hours to get a charge again.
Let me know if the issue still persists after charging it after several hours.

PLEASE HELP flashing light and playbook doesn't switch on!!

Hello,
I have my tablet won't switch on and when I try to turn on, the red light and green light flashing 5 times. And then nothing. Unable to turn on.
I tried a reboot by pressing power + volume - and nothing!
I tried to update with BlackBerry Desktop Manager (latest version) and when the update reaches the end error message comes to me and it there was a problem: "A connection to the tablet Could not be ESTABLISHED. Please connect your tablet and try again. "
I also tried to charge it with a 2000mA charger for several hours and still nothing.
I no longer guarantee
Please help me, I do not know what to do.

Same thing happened to me yesterday. After the error message, I plugged in the charger. It took quite a while but the tablet started charging. It reinstalled the update when it reached the 20% level. Another update error came up to change my setting. I checked my setting but didn't change anything and just reinstall update again which this time was a success. Hope this would help.

HP Laserjet 100 color MFP M175nw does not connect to Virgin SuperHub

Spent the last day trying to connect my laptop wirelessly to a HP Laserjet 100 color printer.
I've uninstalled and tried to re-install the software, both from the disk supplied with the printer and from the less than useful HP support website.
The installation process gets to the point after 30 minutes or so, where it decides "An install operation took too long to execute. This is preventing product use" - so I cannot install the software. Despite during the process connecting the laptop via a USB cable.
This happens on two laptops (both HP one with Windows 7.1, the other with Windows 8.1, the result is the same in either case. This is extremely frustrating. So would appreciate a view as to how I might fix this.
The only thing that has changed is upgrade to a Virgin Superhub - but I do not see why this would cause the issue.

I see by your post that you are getting the error message of "An install operation took too long to execute. This is preventing product use" on Windows 7.1 and Windows 8.1. I can help you with this issue.
I am going to provide some steps so we can get the printer configured on the wireless network and then worry about the installation after that.
On the printer's control panel, touch the setup button, network setup menu, wireless direct, turn it on.
On the Windows 7 computer to play it safe, go to the wireless icon in the bottom right corner and select the printer's network name.
Open Internet Explorer and type in the IP address (192.168.223.1) for the printer in the address bar.
This will load the Embedded Web Server for the printer.
Select the networking tab, wireless on the left hand side.
Fill out all your network information, select infrastructure, select your network name, put in password and type of encryption.
Apply settings.
Now the printer should be configured over the wireless network.
Then go to the wireless icon in the bottom right corner again and select your network name.
Run the uninstall from the CD software to remove any registry files.
Disconnect the USB cable if it is connected.
Go to start, computer, right click on the CD and left click open, double click on uninstall.
Then disable all the start up programs and temporarily turn off the Antivirus Software. How to use MSCONFIG .
Click on the start up tab and click disable all.
Then go to start, computer, right click the CD and left click open, right click install or setup and run as administrator.
Select the option for wireless connection.
Test the printer now.
Then you will need to go back in and enable the start up programs and turn the Antivirus Software back on again.
Please provide in detail the results if you are still having issues.

Airport / Virgin Superhub

Hi everyone - can some please explain to me the benefits of getting an Airport Extreme/Express/Time Capsule if I already have a Virgin Superhub?
How do the two products co-exist, exactly?
Our Virgin Superhub is located in an upstairs bedroom and the signal downstairs can sometime be less than perfect (certainly not 100mb as advertised...)
We have in our house a MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, iMac, 2 x iPads, 2 x iPhones and an Apple TV device. They don't all run at once but there's certainly quite a demand for bandwidth at times.
Should I notice a considerable performance difference if I were to purchase one of the Airport products? What would I need to do to the Virgin Superhub to get the best strength?
Networks have never been my strongpoint...

Once you have put the superhub into modem mode, you connect the AirPort Extreme or Time Capsule to it by ethernet cable. The best location would be to place the router in the middle of the house to get the best signal, but you will be limited by whether you can or happy to run the ethernet cable back to the superhub.
I believe the new AirPort Extreme and Time Capsule broadcast a stronger signal than the Airport Express - whether you will need to extend will depend on the strength of your signal and this will be affected by construction and background noise. I suggest you start with the one device and then use something like Inssider to measure the strength of the signal in various locations around the house. If you need to extend the network you could use an airport express but bear in mind you lose some wifi overhead so you lose some speed. The best set up is to connect the device you use to extend to the original router by ethernet cable - this is called a roaming network. Search on Airport and roaming on the apple site to get a detailed overview of networking.
The AirPort Extreme and Time Capsule are probably the way to go, but at a cost. As you say Time Capsule has the added advantage of the backup facility. The other key advantage is that the WAN and LAN ports are 1Gb, the Airport Express is only 100mbps qso if you use ethernet you will be constraining yourself.

Playbook DEAD! PLz help.

My Playbook died yesterday and i have tried so many things but it just won't start up.
When i plug the charger into my playbook, all i get is a red light (stays on for about 1 min) then it turns off and then shows a red battery icon which stays on for about 1.5 mins. It then goes away and then a light green led comes and stays for 10 seconds....this process continues as long as i'm charging it.
I also tried pluging the usb cable into my playbook and connect it to the computer. As soon i connect it to the computer the red light comes on. However the problem is when BlackBery Desktop Software tries to repair it and install the lastest official OS 2.0, the Playbook auotmatically turns off and then i get this message:
"There was an error updating your software.
Unspecified error encountered. [A:0x000000A2]"
Please help.
Should I contact RIM? I'm still under the 1 year Warranty.

Yes, you can contact contact RIM for warranty support.
Meanwhile I'd suggest that you leave it connected to a known good charger for several hours and after 4-5 hours with it still comnected, press and hold the power button about 20 seconds. It should show the same LED light blink and eventually restart. Keep trying, keep it it plugged in.

There is nothing wrong with the OS update.
Delete ALL your email accounts.
Restart Playbook
Put the accounts back and ensure they are all set with PUSH ON. Manual (push off) will burn battery.
Similarly delete your wifi connections and add back when required.
Turn off wifi is not connected to wifi.
Any "hunting for connection" in email or wifi will burn up battery.

Virgin Superhub settings to allow Airport Extreme to broadcast at 2.4 and 5Ghz

I have a 120Mb Virgin Superhub (SH) installed in my home but its wireless performance is terrible. The SH router can work in wireless or modem mode at 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz but not simultaneously. I'm therefore going to place my SH in modem mode and connect up my Airport Extreme which can broadcast at 2.4 and 5Ghz simultaneously which will allow me to use all my tech at their best frequencies.
My query is what do I set my SH to? 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz to enable my Airport Express to broadcast both frequencies. Hope you can help.

Hi - if you configure the SH to be just a modem then all it should be doing is providing internet to the Extreme - the Extreme can be used with almost any cable or DSL modem without having to touch the modem so 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz would have nothing to do with the dual band capabilities of the Extreme - I would check with the SH manufacturer or ISP to make sure that this is the case - since you already have the Extreme, it won't hurt to try it.

Please help username problems!

My blackberry curve9300 has a username attached to the device which isnt even a email address so i cant change it! I have tried accessing my blackberry id to update my apps but i cant as my username is incorrect! I have created a new blackberry id on my laptop but my blackberry wont accept it as it isnt linked to my device! please help i will be eternally grateful!

We Can reset our BBID password and even the Username , but if the username or the email is incorrect or invalid then you have very limited Options. Have to create a new BlackBerry ID but in this process you will loose access to any of your paid apps.
Changing the BlackBerry ID on web itself will solve this issue.So first do a Backup of your device using Desktop Software or refer to this helpful article : How To Backup Your BlackBerry
When you are done follow this Knowledege Base to resolve the issue:

How to extend Virgin Superhub broadband using Apple Airport Express

I need to extend my Virgin Superhub broadband (Which is downstairs) using Airport Express as my playstation looses connection (upstairs) when I'm online (especially when playing Fifa!) any ideas on how to do this as I keep getting a message saying it was unable to extend? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you are trying to configure the Express to "extend" using wireless only, unfortunately that feature is reserved for use with other Apple routers. It would be extremely unlikley that it would work with a product from another manfacturer.
To have the Expesss provide more wireless coverage, you will need to connect it to the Superhub using a wired ethernet connection and configure it to extend that way.

Upgrade to 2.0 is stuck and won't finish...please help

I downloaded OS 2.0 (originally had 1.0.8 installed) and after download PB wanted to restart so I clicked restart....
Now PB is stuck and just displays 'Blackberry Playbook' and the background color changes ...but nothing happens....I left it for a few hours but still no luck....I tried restarting it but when it boots up it's still stuck on the same page...
I tried to connect it to Device manager 7 and reset it to factory setting or downgrade the OS but Device Manager deosn't recognize the device.
Please help...what should I do now?

BT Broadband - IP Profile 500K - Please Help!

Good Evening Everyone,
Have BT broadband up and running just under a month now, using a home hub 3, which is connected to the master socket, have also tried running in the master 'test' socket even with no telephones connected (these are all cordless with filters in the extension socket) but I can NEVER get a download speed greater than half a meg. Have tried connecting at various off peak hours but makes no difference.
I can use speedtest.net to test the line speed but not the official BT site, I can never get past the assured throughput test, an error message is always returned - however using a site to test the ping of the line I always achieve below 50ms and most of the time it is around 24ms. My question is this - Virgin provided the previous broadband to our home and we had the same problem and I note the IP profile which was 500k has been carried across to BT broadband - does this need resetting and how do I go about this ??? The home hub 3 spec are below if you can pick anything out from them - please help!!!!

Please help me. Cant install

Can someone please help me with my problem. I'm currently using a blackberry playbook and for some reason it won't let me update my Adobe Flash player. Everytime I click the button that says update it gives me a message saying I currently already have the required software. I've clicked everything possible to try and fix the problem. I'm starting to think that maybe my playbook can't hold the software but I don't no. This is really frustrating me. Can someone give me another idea on what can be done? Please and thank you!!
