Playbook won't accept a charge

When I plug my PB into a wall charger that I know works (it charges my Torch just fine), I can't get my PB to charge at all.  The lightening bolt symbol doesn't appear nor does the indicator light do anything.  I've tried a USB charger and a second wall charger; I've tried to hold the power button for 20 seconds and the power + Volume up/down buttons for 20 seconds.  Nothing seems to work.  Anyone have any ideas??

Is this using the OEM PlayBook Charger?
A normal, similar BlackBerry smartphone charger does not have the power to charge a PlayBook.
So, use the OEM charger shipped with the PlayBook.

  • New Playbook won't accept file transfer from blackberry or computer

I bought a Tablet 3 days ago and spent an insane amount of time searching for an answer.  It bridges fine with my 9700 and I can go back and forth, my wifi connection / bluetooth are fine.
When I try to send photos from my 9700 to my Tablet, I get a message saying tranfer failed unable to connect.
When I plug it to my computer via USB, I cannot transfer photos or music either - connection failed.
What is going on?  It is not my connections or bluetooth or wi-fi.
    Is it a defective Tablet?

I spent a total of 9 hours on the phone with 3 different Tech Support people and finally worked but what they had me do totally messed up my computer.  The Playbook does not work the same way as your cell phone so a lot of computers / servers won't accept it.
I had enough and returned it, got an iPad instead and never had any problems.
Main reason: it finally worked on my computer but still didn't work on my laptop or my boyfriend's computer.
Apparently it's a huge problem across the board and they are aware of that.  Too late for me.

  • Playbook won't switch on, charge or reboot!

    Hi All
Can anybody help with my playbook. It won't switch on via the power button, just the initial red light then nothing.
It doesn't respond to either it's own charger or my curves charger.
I have tried to reboot by holding the power and + and - buttons down simultaneously but I get the red light then a few flashing yellow lights then nothing, back to dead.
    Please help.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Connect it to your PC with the BlackBerry Desktop Software running and then repeat the three button reset., that should force the Desktop Software to load/install to the device.

  • PowerBook dropped, now it won't accept a charge

My mother just dropped her 15" PowerBook (oops!). It had a little zip drive in the USB port two spaces down from where the power cord plugs in, and the computer landed essentially on top of that. As a result, the outer case is dented a little, the USB slot looks bent (inside, where things slot in), as does the slot where the power cord goes. We can still very easily plug her adapter into this slot, but no light comes on at all. We've tried using her adapter with my computer, my adapter with her computer, etc, so we've narrowed it down to it being a problem with her PowerBook (not really surprising). Does anyone have any ideas of what might be going on? Is there anything we can do about it here at home? If we have to take it in for repairs, how much might this cost? Also, are there any chargers out there on the market that might let us use her computer without having to use the power cord slot?
Many thanks in advance, I've always received lots of help from the users on this board, and I thank you all for it.

    The powerboard may be damaged.
The place where the AC adapter plugs in is actually a small riser board. If this is damaged it can be replaced, but needs the bottom case, and shield removing so is a laborious process.

  • Ipod acts like battery's completely drained, but won't accept charge

Ok so, I've had my iPod nano for over five months now. I got it for Christmas 2008. The unit is telling me two different things: when its plugged into anything, it says the battery's fully charged, but when I unplug it, it says "battery low, connect to power source'. So basically my ipod's acting like the battery's completely drained, and when I try to charge it, it won't accept the charge, telling me its full up.
I've been trying everything I can think of to alleviate this problem. I even restored my ipod completely, and put all my music etc. back on. It didn't work.
So I'm thinking that maybe this is an internal problem... something with the battery.

    Hi Wafflemonster,
Have you used your iPod with any 3rd-party accessories, like a car charger or dock?
Try resetting the iPod by toggling the Hold switch and then holding the Play/Pause and Menu buttons until you see the Apple logo, as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1320
If the issue persists, try restoring the iPod from iTunes as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1339
If restoring the iPod does not resolve the issue, the iPod may need hardware repair. Make a reservation to have a Genius take a look at it or call AppleCare.

  • Lumia 800 not accepting a charge

Well the really bad experience I've been having with the phone's WP7 os has been joined with the phone developing quite a large problem. If I plug the phone in to charge it I get the symbol to say that it is charging (the heart on the battery) but it puts no charge into the battery. As the phone auto turns on when the charger is connected it emptied the battery by trying to recharge it. (still don't understand why you can't turn the phone off to charge it quicker like you can with pretty much every other phone). When I'd let the battery drain totally before, then put it on to charge you get a big picture of a battery with a red line at the bottom, but once there is no power left it won't even do that.
My issue really is that if I plug the phone into the laptop, the laptop recognises that the phone is there and try's to install it as a disc drive but it still won't accept a charge. Is this a common problem with the phone, it is just over 1 month old and I wouldn't expect it to have this kind of problem yet? It's just that if this is a known problem then I don't want to have the same phone again and will push the retailer for a different one.

When plugging your L800 to you PC, you need to install the program Zune. There's no PC recognition for this phone every thing is synced w/ the Zune program. I suggest you update your phone firmware using Zune, to fix all the bugs on your phone. Charge your phone on a wall charger for a few hours. Another thing to do is install the diagnostic tool, to do this on your dial keypad press ##632# and the tool will be added to your app list. You can check your battery status along w/ other tests on this app.

  • Playbook won't charge

Bought a refurbished playbook. The playbook won't charge! the mini usb cable dosn't go in the port of the PB all the way. I have tried using a differnt cable - and it dosn't work. the cable is ok as it is charging my cellphone right now. Can you help my? Is ther a hardeware problem? What to do?

Did you purchase the playbook with some type of warranty?   Normally refurbs come with a 30-90 day.
Did it power up and work fine when you received it?  I ask because if it did I would assume that whomever you purchased it from utilized what's referee to as a "rapid travel charger" on Amazon (as well refered as a charging pod, extra at places like Walmart...ect...just Google "Magnetic Charged for Playbook").
It quite honestly sounds like a common issue Playbook has in that the connection inside the playbook for the chargef has broken.  As well, housing cannot utilize the USB port connecting it to your computer to charge as the connection is not strong enough to charge the playbook via the computer.
You are left with one option (besides sending it back from where it came, which I highly recommend because it obviously WAS NOT refurbished like you were told) that option is to purchase the Rapid Travel Charger - Amazon is way cheaper for this item.
My first Playbook was a Playbook 16gb.  First the connection went out like yours.  Rapid chger fixed that issue, then the whole unit went dark.  All this after approx 15mths (remember, mine was new).
I just purchased a new Playbook 64gb.  The whole unit seems better made.
The issues you and I had were normalwith the older units.

Playbook won't turn on, boot, or charge. LED flashing red.

Try this, while connected to your charger. Press and hold the Power key, up and down volume (-/+) all three buttons simultaneously, for about 10-12 seconds. You should the red LED blink and that should allow a reset of the PlayBook and to power up.

  • IPod won't accept charge. Bizarre mechanical noise.

A coworker came to me today with a 2005 30gb iPod (Model: A1136). He says his iPod was working just fine, then stopped accepting a charge. I am trying to see if I can help him out in getting it back up and running. I have tried using different USB cables, adapters, ports, and plugs, and thus ruled out it being an outside problem. I am assuming that either the charging port on the iPod has gone south, or possibly the battery all together. I have managed to carefully pull apart the iPod to take a glance. No severed connections. I did notice that being completly disconnect from everything, there is absolutely no sound coming from the iPod. However, upon plugging the iPod into a functional power source, I am able to hear a very quite, high pitched sound that continues with a high-pace pulse sound to it. The sound immediately halts upon removal of the power source. Any ideas as to what the problem might be? Any solutions or recommendations? Thanks!

  • Itunes 10.6.3 won't accept my iPad2

I downloaded itunes 10.6.3 today. I was receiving an error message when I plugged in my iPad 2 to charge. But nothing has changed. My laptop won't accept the download to my iPad. And my iPad won't charge. What happens next?

An iOS device running iOS 6 requires iTunes 10.7 in order to sync. Start iTunes on your computer and use the menu to check for updates. If your computer OS can run iTunes 10.7 you will be given the opportunity to update iTunes. If your computer cannot run iTunes 10.7 no update will be available and you'll have to update the computers OS first.

Or did you purchase a new battery and try it?
Do you have the right battery for this series phone  and is it an OEM Blackberry battery?

i upgraded to OS 6 on my iPhone 4 and now it won't accept my password

    Hello Nikmuz,
It sounds like your screen is either black so it looks like it is not on, or it is just plain not turning on at all and it is also not being recognized in iTunes. I would recommend the followng troubleshooting from this article to help you determine whether that is the case or not, named:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
Toggle the ringer switch to see if the unit vibrates. If it does, it could be that iPhone is getting power, but is not displaying any image.
While connected to the iPhone charger, try to reset the iPhone.
My issue is still not resolved. What do I do next?

  • IPhone 5 won't take a charge & won't restore from backup

My iPhone 5 stopped taking a charge. So I updated to 7.whatever & backed it up. It still would take a charge so I went through recovery mode. That seemed to complete (I've done it twice now) However, the phone still won't take a charge and it won't restore from my backup. (Since the initial run through recovery mode it has never accepted the backup. It alway errors out saying the iPhone disconnected. It never disconnected physically and I've tried mutiple cables so which worn on my other iPhone so they are not the problem. If I plug the iPhone in it will cycle between on and off and never accept a charge or allow me to get through the backup process without "disconnecting" Any suggestions?

    Hello GreenLantern17,
It sounds like you are unable to charge your phone and it keeps disconnecting when you have it plugged into your computer, even though you have tried mulitple cables. If you have not already, try charging the phone with the wall adapter that came with it. If it works there,  into I recommend starting with the following USB port troubleshooting for your computer:
Remove any third-party battery packs or cases from the device and ensure that the USB cable is connected directly to the port on the device.
If your Lightning or 30-pin cable is connected to a keyboard, display or USB hub, try plugging it directly into a USB port on the computer instead.
Close any virtualization apps (such as Parallels or VMWare).
These apps may interfere with your computer's ability to communicate over USB if they aren't properly configured, or up to date. If this resolves the issue, contact the developer of the app to see if an update is available.
    Restart your computer.
Restart your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch.
If you're using an accessory or third-party cable to connect your device, try using an Apple cable with the device instead.
Update to the latest version of iTunes if you have not already.
Disconnect other USB devices from your computer, except for your keyboard and mouse. Then, reconnect your iOS device. If the issue is resolved, reconnect the other USB devices one at a time. Make sure your iOS device is still recognized by the computer after adding back each device.
If one of these steps resolves the issue, but it comes back later, make sure you haven't changed how the device is connected. For example, check to see if you plugged the device into a specific accessory, or used a specific cable that reintroduced the issue.

This darn thing WON'T TURN ON! No lights come on or anything either.
Connect to your known good wall outlet charger.
Leave it connected for several hours.. even 24 hours.
Every 4-5 hours WITH THE CHARGER STILL CONNECTED, press and hold down the power button for 20 seconds.
If you see any LED red or yellow activity, that is good. LEAVE it to continue to charge.
REPEAT this:  Every 4-5 hours WITH THE CHARGER STILL CONNECTED, press and hold down the power button for 20 seconds.
