Playbook won't backup anymore.

I keep getting an error every time I try and back my playbook up. My Curve 9360 works just fine when I back it up. I have reinstalled the OS and Desktop software a gazillion times and I am getting to nowhere, Any help would be appreciated.
THE WAS AN ERROR BACKING UP!!!! It's driving me nuts.

I just goy a new Palybook and ran into the SAME THING. I traced it down by doing a complete reset, then installing each new app and backing up immediately after. (Using selective Backup -> Apps only) When I ran into the one app that caused the problem, I had my answer. I did a RESTORE, and tried the backup again, without the offending app, and it worked. I reinstalled the app and it wouldn't backup again.
Not sure if it is the app or the size of the app. The name of the app that killed my backup is: PC Recipe Box. This is too bad because I like this one. However, it opens the door to rather MAJOR problem: apps from appworld can cause a problem!
I tried the above on a PB 16GB and a PB 32GB and had the same results each time.
So to be safe, do a backup before you install an app. and only install 1 app at a time.

    I had the same problem as some other people where the initial back up took about 12 hours. However, now I'm facing a new problem where TM just prepares for 2hours (still going) and won't backup any of the new stuff. What's the point of going into the TM and you can't even go back in time because all I have is the "Today" screen? Does anybody know how I can get TM to keep backing up my stuff consistently?

    UPDATE: After quite a few attempts, I concluded there is an issue in SL with TM backups to a password protected Airport Disk, so I reverted to using the Airport password.
    What was odd during all of this is that when I was using a disk password, I could mount the disk (and the sparse images) from both my iMac and my UMBP, and TM would work from the UMBP but not the iMac. This was despite my deleting the TM plist, restarting, disconnecting the disk from the Airport extreme.
    When I reverted back to using the Airport password, I did it from the iMac. TM then worked fine from there, but not the UMBP. It took a combination of restarts, selecting None as the TM disk, and I don't remember what else to get the UMBP backing up again.
    So, in my case at least, the Mac that changed the PW type worked fine, the other one either never worked or required hoops to work. Other than that, kind of lost, but I do have it working at least.

    So twice now I've had to security wipe and restore OS 2.0 on my Playbook (glitch wifi during the first OS reload, which led to glitch OS).
    Both times I've done a "full back-up" in Desktop Manager 7, and both times upon restore my locally saved contacts, my email accounts, and my locally saved mail messages never made it back on to the device.  The first time I restored the data immediately after I reloaded the device, and the second time, just to make sure, I re-added my email accounts manually before restoring the data... Both times I had the same result - the frustration of realizing that I was going to yet again have to manually re-type and re-add photos for the vast majority of my contacts; as I keep them locally on a work BlackBerry, rather than in various cloud email services...
    RIM: am I doing something wrong, or did you forget to add a back-up feature to the most important apps that people are likely to have on their tablet?
    Can anyone help me figure out whether I'm doing something wrong,  RIM won't talk to me because I bought my Playbook on release day, so now  my 90 days of "free" technical support are up.

    You're not doing anything wrong.
    I've noticed a number of features that are now in 2.0 don't get backed up. Hopefully that will change with a new Desktop Manager and software updates.
    I don't know what RIM's plan is - as they seem to be focussing on syncing contacts online rather than backing them up locally. Maybe that's the way that they think it should be from now on.

  • "Failure to complete backup" - Time Capsule won't backup anymore

    I've been using my TC for about 2 months with absolutely no issues whatsoever. For the last 3 days I have been unable to complete any backups, which is seemingly random - I can't think of any precursor event to this series of failures.
    Time Machine Buddy offers this - I just don't know what it all means:

    Okay, I dragged the .sparsebundle file over to DiskUtility and verified and repaired it (in that order). No luck, I still can't perform a backup.

  • New HD, restored using time capsule, won't backup anymore

    I just put in a new HD in my MBP. I booted from the old HD using an external enclosure and did a 'restore lion' from time capsule.
    Things are working well on the computer front, but back ups and time capsule are screwed up.
    - Time machine is trying to back up the entire drive again. I could live with that, except it keeps stalling at 186MB of transferred data (It was left for hours to see if it could transfer more)
    - I thought I'd just see if I could re-format the drive and start over fresh... Unfortunately, this isn't going well. The drive does not appear in the disk utility. I can see the sparsebundle, but can't erase it. This is wierd since I can see the drive as a part of the shared network.
    So how do I start over again with my back ups? How do I reset the time capsule drive without being able to see it in the disk utility. OR, how do I make the time capsule drive appear in the disk utility.

    You cannot erase the Time Capsule drive using Disk Utility.
    Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
    Click Manual Setup
    Click the Disks icon
    Click the Disks tab below the icon
    Click Erase
    The "Quick Erase" option will only take a few minutes

  • IPad won't backup. It keeps getting stuck

    My iPad won't backup on iTunes on my computer. It used to work fine then one day it stopped. It starts backing up and it barely does anything then it freezes. The bar won't move any more, even if I leave it for like an hour. iTunes still goes to different pages, but it won't backup anymore. Then when I cancel the backup, my iPad stops doing it but the iTunes backup bar stays there and iTunes won't close unless I restart my computer. I do have the latest version of iTunes.
    What should I do? I can't just NOT back it up.

    You can go back by restoreing your backup of the iPhoto library from the previous version a installing the previous version for its original source

    Do you use iPhoto? What version are you using and have you sent photos using it from the iPhoto and used the older templates?

  • My USB external hard disk won't work anymore after I updated to 10.4.10

    As I said in title since it's quite urgent to me. ALL of my files is in my external hard drive. It's format as FAT or FAT32 I can't remember since I use it between mac and PC. More than that IT IS WORKING FINE UNDER PC. Before updating to Mac 10.4.10 I used my hard disk fine till I updated to this version. I plug in my usb port and after a hours it still won't be detected. I can find my hard disk in finder or desktop. I have tried plug my hard disk to other MacBook or Mac Pro but still won't work anymore. However it's working fine under PC or when I started my MacBKPRO as WindowsXP under bootcamp, my hard disk is working fine, too.
    I have search this forum and seems someone have got the same problem as I face. I don't know what to do...and I feel so disappointed to Mac.

    As Mac OS X has no known viruses in the wild, that leaves you with one of three possibilities.
    1. When connected to the Windows machine, a virus has written over a critical boot block area which allows the drive to become crossplatform. Get the latest Windows virus detection software and make sure the drive is clean of Windows viruses.
    2. The firmware that allows it to communicate driverless has become corrupted on the drive case. Replacing the drive case itself will eliminate that problem, as suggested earlier.
    3. The directory damage is just enough that the boot block itself is damaged. Backup any critical data from the drive onto the Windows machine first, and run Alsoft Disk Warrior 4.0 to repair the directory and see if that works.
    The fact that Mac OS X 10.3.9 won't read it basically eliminates this as a 10.4.10 problem. Only a boot block or firmware issue like this could make a drive not readable on one platform, but readable on another.

  • HELP! suddenly .llb won't open anymore?!

    I can't access the .llb file I was working with anymore.  I get the message:  'Error occured while listing contenst of c:\......\filename.llb.'
    I've used this file a lot during the last week.  No problems at all.    It's an instrument driver, now located in the instr.lib folder.   The last thing I did, was making a pallette for it.    After restarting Labview, I noticed that on the pallette, all icons changed to questions marks.   So I tried to open the corresponding llb file, and it won't open anymore.     What's going on?
    Any way I can still open the llb file?  There's a few days work in it.   (Not backupped... .Yeah, I know.....  )  
    It's on Labview 8.     Attached the llb file, for anyone that wants to have a go at it.
    More importantly, how did this happen?    I can't remember that I ever had this problem in the past....

  • Everytime i sync my ipod touch, the apps that i don't have running won't work anymore

    When I connect my iPod Touch to my computer, the apps that aren't running won't work anymore. The icons are still there but the app itself doesn't open. I tried syncing it to my backups but it's useless. Please help!

    Connect the device to your computer, open iTunes, restore the iPod to factory settings.

    I upgraded to the new OS 2.0 today and now my playbook won't boot up?  What's going on??

    You need to follow these instructions to "debrick" your PlayBook:
    You should have the Desktop Software version 7 installed on your PC, can be downloaded from http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/
    1. Make sure your PlayBook is powered off (sounds like yours might already be) press and hold down the power button until the unit forces the device off.
    2. With the Desktop Software open on your computer and the PlayBook powered off, connect the PlayBook to your computer.
    3. You should see an error screen from Desktop Software popup with the options to Retry, Update, or Cancel.
    Very quickly choose the Update option.
    4. Once this is complete your PlayBook will go back through the initial (as if new) setup wizard (entering the BlackBerryID, etc.), and then you can perform a restore using Desktop Software to return your personal data from the backup. Applications which you downloaded from AppWorld won't restore, but they can be easily reinstalled using AppWorld >  My World section of AppWorld.

  • Playbook won't power up after software update

    i downloaded the OS software update and clicked restart when installed. Since then the playbook won't work at all and can't switch on even though the screen feels warm as if it's working but not displaying. Anyone else had this problem?

    LEAVE it connected to the wall outlet charger (not the USB > PC charger).
    Leave it connected for 24 hours... every 3-5 hours, press and hold the power button only for about 20 seconds. Eventually it will boot on up, but first must reach a certain charge level.
    You will see the blinking red and perhaps yellowish LED light, and perhaps a symbol on screen of "no battery". That means the battery is drained, but it must reach a certain charge before powering on.
