Playbook won't charge or turn on

I have read through many post here about this problem and nothing is working for me.  I have not used my playbook for a while (it is an older model- I've had it 4 years), and when I plug it in I get the red battery with a lightening bolt through it then the screen goes black.  I have tried holding the power button, I even left it plugged in overnight and still nothing.  Twice I have seen the red led change to yellow, but then it goes black again.  Any suggestions?  Thanks!

Did you read about stack charging and try it? If not, search on stacked charging and stack charging. You will read what has happened, I think, as well as the solution that may work for you. Good luck.

  • My BB Playbook doesn't charge and turn on. Nothing can solve this problem. Please help!!!!

    Hi everybody!
My BB playbook doesn't charge and turn on.
When I tried to charge it,  at first ,the red color appears for 10 seconds and after the green color starts blinking several times. And that's all. Every time when I am charging it the same thing is repeating. What should I do in this case???
If someone knows how to solve this issue please HELP!

    Hey LM344,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
If you're receiving the flashing green LED light, it sounds like the BlackBerry PlayBook battery is completely drained.  I suggest plugged the BlackBerry PlayBook into the wall charger for several hours to get a charge again.
Let me know if the issue still persists after charging it after several hours.
    Cheers.

  • My 4th gen iPod touch has been plugged in for hours but it won't charge or turn on

I have a 4th gen iPod touch. It has been plugged in for hours but it won't charge or turn on. I cannot restore it because it won't show up in iTunes. I have tried pressing and holding the home and/or the power key but that does not work as well. I have tried restarting Apple Mobile Support. I have updated my iTunes. I have tried EVERYTHING but it will not turn on at all. Any suggestions?

  • Playbook won't charge

Bought a refurbished playbook. The playbook won't charge! the mini usb cable dosn't go in the port of the PB all the way. I have tried using a differnt cable - and it dosn't work. the cable is ok as it is charging my cellphone right now. Can you help my? Is ther a hardeware problem? What to do?

Did you purchase the playbook with some type of warranty?   Normally refurbs come with a 30-90 day.
Did it power up and work fine when you received it?  I ask because if it did I would assume that whomever you purchased it from utilized what's referee to as a "rapid travel charger" on Amazon (as well refered as a charging pod, extra at places like Walmart...ect...just Google "Magnetic Charged for Playbook").
It quite honestly sounds like a common issue Playbook has in that the connection inside the playbook for the chargef has broken.  As well, housing cannot utilize the USB port connecting it to your computer to charge as the connection is not strong enough to charge the playbook via the computer.
You are left with one option (besides sending it back from where it came, which I highly recommend because it obviously WAS NOT refurbished like you were told) that option is to purchase the Rapid Travel Charger - Amazon is way cheaper for this item.
My first Playbook was a Playbook 16gb.  First the connection went out like yours.  Rapid chger fixed that issue, then the whole unit went dark.  All this after approx 15mths (remember, mine was new).
I just purchased a new Playbook 64gb.  The whole unit seems better made.
The issues you and I had were normalwith the older units.

Apple Does Not recommend that. Please Read.

    "Portables with built-in batteries"
Current Apple portable computer batteries are pre-calibrated and do not require the calibration procedure outlined in this article. These computers use batteries that should be replaced only by an Apple Authorized Service Provider.

Apple recommend calibrating the battery when you buy a new Macbook and then every few months, or monthly if it used on mains all the time. This, as Apple says is to keep the battery operating at maximum efficiency. When the battery discharges and shuts the macbook down, it still has reserve power for a good number of hours. There is also a logic board battery to hold various settings.
I rather think I will take Apples advice on using their equipment not yours, but I would be intrigued to discover what is it you know that Apple doesnt about its batteries?

  • Ipad won't charge unless turned off

My iPad 2 won't charge unless turned off and in some cases not at all.  It does this off and on.  Typically, it'll stop charging when turned on and I can turn it off and charge it to over 40% (or so. . . .it varies) and then it will charge the rest of the way while turned on. And then, I can go through long periods --maybe a month-- where it will charge as usual (while on) but then suddenly it will stop charging while on and will only do so when off.  This back and forth has gone on for several months. Today it stopped charging even when off.  Given history, it might kick in and start charging suddenly but I fear that the battery could run out this time and I'll not be able to charge and restart it. I'm at 20%.  I am using the iPad 10W charger and I have a new one so the cord is good and it works to charge my iPhone as well.  I have also tried rebooting the system, holding down the home and start button.  Anyone have experience with this and a solution?

you can also try the universal troubleshooting step of resetting your iPad. No data is lost so don't worry.
You can reset your iPad by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears.
Try again to see if the problem persists.

  • Playbook won't charge, light won't turn on: Solution.

I like many others have been having problems charging my playbook. It was dead, wouldn't turn on, tried everything! From rapid charger to connecting and disconnecting the USB port. I even opened the playbook and disconnected the battery. Finally, something worked.
    Solution:
I pushed up on the connector with a tiny piece of metal, plastic, (whatever works for you) so the connector that charges the playbook is in the middle. Simply, I reversed the connection, so when I plugged the connector in, it plugged in upside down. I immediately got a charge, the red light came on, from a completely dead playbook and the charging icon flashed.
The problem as I am guessing is that the connector is very flimsy, if you pull the USB cord out of the playbook, it will bend the connector down. By lifting it to about the middle and reversing the connection, it works again.
You can test this simply by observation. On the top piece of the end of the USB, the side which connects to your RIM Blackberry Playbook, you will see two prongs on the outside, clasps. If you look inside the connection of the Playbook, you will see two grooves which these prongs fit into. When you fit the USB into the Playbook, if the prongs on the USB are on the wrong side, you are connecting it upside down. Move the small metal piece in the Playbook up or down to fix.

Try a hard reset with it plugged in...press and hold the power and volume +&- until the device restarts...worked for me.

  • My BlackBerry PlayBook won't charge when connected to the computer via the micro-USB to USB cable

Can anybody help me? I don't know why but lately, when I try to plug my BlackBerry PlayBook into my Windows 7 laptop using the micro-USB to USB cable, it connects to my computer without any problems but it won't charge. Instead, I get a notification in the top left corner saying "Unable to charge battery with connected sorce". I have four USB ports and I'm positive that they work just fine because I plugged in some of the USBs I own into each of those four ports and they recognized the USBs without any issues. Does anybody know how I can resolve this issue? Thanks.

The notification is by design and was added to clarify that USB charging is not to be relied upon as a main method of charging. Instead RIM's good intention has caused confusion.
USB (by design) can not provide the amount of power the device needs while it's being used. Technically, it is still trickle charging but the screen has to be off (and I'd turn off Wi-Fi too) since they are high power draining items.  I have verified that the PlayBook does indeed still charge but it takes much, much longer than plugging it into a wall charger or rapid charger. In a crunch it will work but the computer has to be on the entire time. A full charge would take many hours.

  • Since downloading ios8 iPad 2 won't charge or turn on! help!

    Hi guys,
i updated to ios8 last week, since then my ipad2 has done nothing but run terribly slow, two nights ago my battery went low and cut out all together. I put the iPad on charge aand it just won't charge up or turn on at all now.
I Have tried pressing the two buttons together many times. It's been on charge for two days straight, I've plugged it into my laptop to see if the greater power source could boot it up. None of this worked
Tonight i went went to the Trafford centre Apple store and got no help at all. qued for half an hour to get my iPad plugged into a laptop and forgotten about, felt like because I wasn't buying anything they didn't want to know! So going into a store hasn't helped me either.
I Was just wondering has this happened to anyone else? I don't know what to do about it and am lost without it! If anyone has any advice please help!!

    1. The most efficient way to charge an iPad is with the charger that came with the iPad and having that plugged into a wall outlet. Trying to charge while connected to a laptop often doesn't work because the USB port may not provide enough power.
    2. Once an iPad battery has completely drained it may take an hour or more on the wall charger before the iPad responds. So after an hour on the charger reset the iPad. Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button continuously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the button and let the device restart. You will not lose data doing this. It's like a computer reboot.
    3. If the iPad still does not start up make an appt at the Apple store. It will be far better if you have an appointment rather than just walking in because those with appointments will be taken care of before you are.

  • My iPad 2 won't charge or turn on anymore

My iPad 2 was working then went dead and now won't charge or even turn on. I have tried different chargers to make sure it wasn't the charger it self. I have been told it might be the port or the battery it self. Or even maybe something called a ghost app could have made it crash, how can I fix this? Can I do it myself?

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • IPhone 5 with IOS 7.0.1 won't charge or turn on

My iphone5 has no battery and won't charge up, both chargers I have are Apple brand and work perfectly with my iPad but won't work in my iPhone, even when I try turning it on the dead battery symbol won't show up, I cleaned the lightning socket but it still won't work and tried holding lock and home buttons while the charger was plugged in but still no response. Can anyone help please?
Btw the phone is still under warrantee

Mine is ok, so it seems not to be a issue of iOS.
Call AppleCare and let them check the availability of your Apple account.

  • IPhone4 iOS 4.0.1 won't charge when turned off

I had a 3GS that when placed in the dock (connected to my iMac which is always on) and was turned off (the iPhone that is) would charge normally and was completed in the normal amount of time (a few hours for a complete charge). When I upgraded to iOS 4.0.1, the iPhone would only charge in the dock if it was left on.
I upgraded to the iPhone4 (4.0.1) and the same thing is occurring: the iPhone won't charge when it is turned off; only when it is left on will it completely charge.
Because it happened with my 3GS after upgrading to iOS 4.0.1, I am assuming that it is a software issue with the new operating system.
I have tried a restore as recommended by tech support, but that did not resolve the issue. Has anyone else had the same problem? Any idea how to fix it so that the iPhone4 can charge when placed in the dock and is turned off? Thanks.

    1) stop being impatient.
We are all users like yourself... reposting one minute later is not going to get a lot of sympathy from us.
    2) Clean the dock connector with a soft, dry brush
    3) Try a different sync cable or charging device.

  • IPod will update on iTunes but won't charge or turn on properly

    Hi,
I've just downloaded iTunes 7 and now my ipod won't charge or fully turn on. When i plug it into the computer it updates normally but as soon as I try to turn it on while it's not connected or charge it in a powerpoint it displays the folder icon with a warning sign on it and shows the ipod support website on the screen. I've tried updating the latest mini software, restoring factory settings, and re-formatting but it won't work. When I restore it it says to complete the progress I need to plug it into a powerpoint but when I do this I get the same folder with warning sign icon. Please help!!
    Thanks
