  • Revolution won't open attachments

We have two Revolutions with the same problem. Neither will open any attachment that comes in email. The exact error wording you get is "attachment is too big to download." This happens on pictures, pdf, word, excel files, nothing will open.
This problem started happening straight out of the box. Neither phone had a ton of apps loaded (as I know sometimes some apps don't play nicely together),  We did try countless apps that claim to help with this but the reality is they only either help with your gmail attachments or they only help send attachments (not receive).  Even after trying them, the phones still won't sent attachments.
Also the other issue is that I found was the skype feature will not do video chat. Both of these phones are intended for business use so attachments and video chat were two features that would be most useful.

This could be due to the accounts size restrictions, try downloading a app called "Download All File" from https://market.android.com/details?id=com.hwkrbbt.downloadall&feature=search_result

This is Skypes issue, they havent made their software compatible for a number of devices front facing camera..
Heres the list of supported devices that Skpe has tested on..  http://shop.skype.com/phones/#mobiles

  • PlayBook won't open Word Document

Recently my PlayBook will not open any Word Documents. It sometimes attempts to load, and then it just disappears from the screen.
    Please can anyone help?

You may need to make a full backup and then do a security wipe on the device.

  • Word won't open attachments in Mail

    Hi,
I'm using Mail to get my email via POP. When attachments come with a message, I have problem opening them when they're Word documents. I get the error "The application “Microsoft Word” failed to open the attachment “Chasteen Resume SEPT 2007.doc”. Would you like to save the file to disk?"
When it's a PDF, and I click on it, Preview automatically opens and opens the attachment without a problem.

    Hi Ernie,
Yes, if I save them, they open without issue.
In fact, if I choose "open with" and choose "MS Word" then it opens in Word. However, there are two entries for "MS Word" in that list of available applications -- one works and one doesn't. So it appears that Mail thinks that my MS Word application lives somewhere that it doesn't, but if I manually tell it where Word is, then it is fine.
I'm not sure what you mean by "Is you copy of Mail located in the Microsoft Office folder (2004?) in the Applications folder?". Both Mail and the MS Office folder are located in the Applications folder. Should I put Mail inside the MS Office folder?
"In Mail Preferences/General what are your setting regarding the Download folder?"
It's set to the default "Mail downloads" folder. When I change it to a particular folder (eg., a downloads folder in my Documents folder" that doesn't help.

  • Ipad2 won't open attachments in mail app

I have an iPad 2 on 5.0.1. I am unable to open photos, docs or PDF files that are sent to me via email. These same files open fine on my iPhone and Mac.
On the iPad the attachments have an arrow on them. One click on it and a fast wheel spins but nothing opens. A click and hold does nothing.
    What am I missing here?

How about something really crazy and unheard of?
I have two email accounts with Google Mail.  Both are the only ones set up in the Mail app inside my iPad2.  One would load everything: .jpeg, .docx, .pdf, and everything.  The other would not.
I tried hard reset multiple times, deleting both email accounts and hard resetting.  I cut all processes using SBSettings and killed all processes related to mail.  So I have nothing running now, and I deleted all of the readers (Adobe Reader, Goodreader, Doc to Go, Quick Office), and other apps I had added.
Now I have nothing running and no apps installed.
Then I set up mail again from the bottom, as if the iPad came in the mail today.  One gmail account still automatically opens and previews .jpg attachments, and show .doc, .pdf attachments with their respective icons.  THE OTHER GMAIL ACCOUNT IN THE SAME iPAD MAIL APP DOES NOT OPEN THE SAME MESSAGES I HAVE FORWARDED TO BOTH.  I would see an arrow pointed down in the icon inside that "faulty" mail account, and the name of the attachment below the icon.  I have pressed my finger a gadzillion times on those icons, only to see the spinning wheel briefly and nothing.  Holding them down would do nothing, and i can't open in other apps.
The wackiest thing is... when I hit forward (by tapping the curved arrow at the top), I get a drop-down choice list: "INCLUDE" and "DON'T INCLUDE" attachments.  When I tap on INCLUDE, .jpg files immediately load and show in the reply message, only two of four .pdfs load and open, but no .docx attachments would.
How would we be supposed to troubleshoot or fix something like this?

  • How do I overcome it when Adobe Reader says "Memory Full" and won't open attachments?

When I try to open email attachments with adobe reader it refuses with the comment, "Memory full". Hoqw do i fix this problem? I have tried deleting some things I scanned in as Adobe but this has not worked.---mintpie---

What is your Reader version?  What is your email client?  If it's web-based mail, in what browser?
Is the message really just "Memory full"?  Can you post a screenshot of that message?
Can you download that attachemtn to your local disk first, then open it from there?

  • Still can't open attachments.

Hi I posted a thread a while back about not being able to open attachments on a uses BB curve. I reviewed other articles about how to resolve this issues; firstly resent the service book, which didn't work. I've now just performed a security wipe and re-authenticated with the BES.
Now, it's solved the problem of not being able to reply to emails, but it still won't open attachments. Am I missing something or is there another way to resolve this isssue?
    many thanks..
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Don't think I saw this solution here.  The year is now 2011 and the device being used is 8900 os 5.
Could not open attachments. Went to options>security options>firewall and check for blocked messages due to incorrect encryption key or mismatched key. (this is good to check on a regular basis)
if there are any issues then go back on menu to security options and choose "information" then scroll down to and highlight "Desktop".  Use the menu key and select "regenerate encryption key".
I performed all these steps in a matter of 1 to 2 minutes and immediately went back to my message to see the downloaded/opened attachment that was previously sitting and 0% for over 20 minutes.
Please save yourself time and effort by trying this first before wiping your phone.

  • PDF Opens Fine in Acrobat Reader (Windows), Won't Open in Acrobat Reader (Playbook)

Hi.  Anyone have a suggestion for a PDF file that opens fine in Adobe Acrobat Reader on one platform (in my case, both Windows Vista and Windows 7), but won't open on another (in my case, Blackberry Playbook)? This is a camera operation manual from Pentax: I have downloaded it from Canadian, US and Japanese websites (different file names, same file size), but always get the same result.
Here are some of the details:
    1. I can see the PDF file on both platforms, and it's the same size on both platforms (i.e. it's not a copying error creating a null-sized file on the Playbook).
    2. Technically, you could say it "opens" on the Playbook, because Adobe Acrobat Reader launches... but the document reads like a zero-page blank file.
    3. All the other PDFs I've ever used on the Playbook are fine: I have PDFs with hundreds more pages than this one, and they read and open OK.
I would get around the problem by saving the PDF in a different format, but password protection is preventing me from doing that.
Any suggestions you can offer will be welcome.
    Thanks.

Hi Kenneth, I am having this same issue but I am in a domain controlled environment.  What I discovered is that I had to go to the actual exe file in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 10.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe then right click on the exe, run as local administrator.  Then I got a pop-up talking about this protected mode that I have seen in other places.  I chose to ALWAYS open with protected mode disabled.  Then my reader opened and worked perfectly.  UNTIL I closed it and tried to open it again as my user.  My problem is that I can't even get to the settings as my user to be able to disable protected mode.  It seems the setting change is user to user not system wide.  I hope this helps.  Hopefully though I can get some help on being able to disable protected mode for the whole system.  I currently can't find a registry key...there must be one!!

  • Attachments in e-mails won't open

Yesterday all was fine but today, when I double click on attachments within e-mails, they won't open. Clicking 'save to computer' also doesn't work.  Any ideas?
    Thanks
PS I am using btinternet as my e-mail provider

Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folders. In OS X 10.9 there are two sandboxes, while in earlier versions there is only one.
    Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder — not just its contents — to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Log out and log back in. Launch Mail and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window. If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.MailServiceAgent
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combinationcommand-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • Aipad air 7.1.2 won't open some attachments on the mail app. Sometimes when hit the "download full attachment" long messages even simply disappear from the e-mail

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

  • Pdf attachments to windows mail won't open correctly

pdf attachments to emails won't open. I'm using Vista Ultimate 64. The attachments want to open in system 32, and error message says to "set associations." Set asociations is already set to reader 9.1 (which I just updated to 9.2 in an attempt to get it to work). It shouldn't make a difference whether the document was created on a 32 bit or 64 bit computer. I tried saving the attachment but something converted it to a .doc format. When I tried to open it I got pages full of code (in WordPad) not a formatted page.  Current documents saved in pdf open as they should as long as I open them from the document file. I don't know whether it is windows, windows mail or some other program that is responsible for this. Documents downloaded from websites work fine. Has anyone else encountered the same problem? How do you fix it?

  • Jpeg email attachments won't open in OS 10.10

Picture attachments to Mail won't open when in OS 10.10, but same message opens okay in iOS

Look at Mail>preferences>accounts. Highlight the account>advanced. Look at the attachment settings. That may help.

  • Word and PDF Attachments Won't Open in Mail

I bought my iPad2 in September 2011. have upgraded it to iOS5. I cannot open any PDF, .doc or .docx document. I have tried opening the PDFs in Adobe Reader and the Word documents in Pages or Dropbox but they won't open. All my apps are up to date.
What seems to be happening is that Mail is having difficulty downloading the attachment. I had a 4MB PDF attachment and when I tapped on the icon it began to download, which took several minutes. I saw the byte size change from 0 to 4MB. Then I tapped on it again to open the file but the byte size dropped immediately to 0 again and the file won't open. I tried opening in Adobe Reader but got the error "The document is empty (size 0KB)" . I have gone through several cycles of downloading the file and seining the seesaw from 0 to 4MB and back again. Just won't open the file.
Same problem when I tried opening Word documents in Pages or Dropbox. Also, I reproduced this issue with my colleague's iPad (version 1, iOS4, Pages).
Just to ascertain there's nothing wrong with the file attachments, I downloaded the same PDF in Outlook, placed it in my Dropbox, and opened it in the iPad without any problem.
    Anyone else having this issue?

Have you tried pressing the attachment to get the "open in" message and open in VLC, iBooks, or other apps?

  • Word attachments won't open into Word application

My dad complained that his iMac G5 opens Word attachments automatically into the trial version of MS Office Word.
Eventhough he purchased a copy of Office, Mail continued to open Word attachments to the trial version. Because the trial version of Office is expired, the attachments wouldn't open unless I dragged the docs unto the desktop and changed the Info on the documents to open with the purchased version of Word.
In one attempt to resolve the problem, I trashed the trial version, Mail popped up the dialogue box that asked what application did I want to open the attachment with. I chose the purchased version of Office, but Mail won't do this automatically. It still asked to choose the application to open the document.
I went into his Documents folder and picked one Word doc to change the Info @ "Open With" and chose MS Word app and checked the box "Use this application to open all documents like this." Still didn't work. I then manually changed the Info in all of his Word docs to open into the purchased version of Word. Problem still not resolved.
Found out that his PDF docs won't open into Preview automatically too! I get the dialogue box... "Choose application to open document."
I looked through Preferences and couldn't find a solution.
I'm the family IT, and I need help.
I need Mail to open attachments automatically into their correct applications.
    Thanks, Joe

Per this link, you must uninstall the Office 2004 trial or Test Drive version before installing the full purchased version.

Since you have already uninstalled the Test Drive version, I suggest uninstalling the full purchased version and then re-install it.
