Same to my Playbook 64GB, those 20 seconds reset is not help. I don't think is the hardware. Manage to accidentally boot before but after turn it off then never boot again. This should be some issue with the software. For Blackberry phone normally remove and replace the battery will solve this but not for this Playbook.
is yours tunring on at all?
do you get a LED lit or blinking?

• PlayBook Won't start up after Upgrade!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello,
While syncing up my PlayBook to my LapTop which I do about every week, an upgrade process took over and part way through the process I was told that the upgrade could not be completed. After that I get NOTHING!!! I was getting a red blinking light and that has stopped.
I have spent the last 2 days on the internet researching everything I could find to help me. I have tried the 3 button test, charging it for 2 minutes then off for 15 seconds did that one over 30 times, charged it over night...Still NOTHING!!! I know that both charger work I have tried it out on my Curve.
I finally got on line to see what support I could get and all I could find was that I need to call RIM and give them my Credit Card #. I have to pay for this piece of junk that I did NOTHING wrong with. Now I have to pay for this junk..As for as I am concerned this thing is DOA and all I want is an RMA to get this fixed so I can sell it and get a REAL tablet!!
Can anyone tell me how to get an RMA or do I have to pay for that one too.......
Please any help will be appreciated......

You need to follow these instructions to "debrick" your PlayBook:
You should have the Desktop Software version 7 installed on your PC, can be downloaded from http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/
1. Make sure your PlayBook is powered off (sounds like yours might already be) press and hold down the power button until the unit forces the device off.
2. With the Desktop Software open on your computer and the PlayBook powered off, connect the PlayBook to your computer.
3. You should see an error screen from Desktop Software popup with the options to Retry, Update, or Cancel.
Very quickly choose the Update option.
4. Once this is complete your PlayBook will go back through the initial (as if new) setup wizard (entering the BlackBerryID, etc.), and then you can perform a restore using Desktop Software to return your personal data from the backup. Applications which you downloaded from AppWorld won't restore, but they can be easily reinstalled using AppWorld > My World section of AppWorld.

• Playbook won't start and won't keep charge

I am having problems with getting my Playbook to charge. I have used 2 different cords that worked before. I've tried the 2 minute plug in and unplug which got it up to 30% then wouldn't go any further. I was able to start it yesterday with the cord plugged in but after 10 minutes (approx) it turned itself off. This morning I can get the startup screen but when it reachs the point where it should be fully up, it quits. This happens when unplugged or plugged in. I've tried holding the power button and >ll button andi get a red light for a few seconds then once it goes out I push the power button where it gets to the point previously mentioned.
Any suggestions as to what to do next?
Any help would be appreciated

@kc_bbforum
Thanks for posting your stacked charging method. I did this, but only got up to the part where:
the "'red battery charging icon with a lightning symbol' appeared in the middle of the playbook."
After this part, my playbook (while still connected to my charger, which is in turn connected to my power bar, which is plugged into the wall socket) would cycle through to following sequence:
1. The red LED light would go on for about 15 seconds, then go off
2. For about 6 seconds, everything would be off, then
3. the 'red battery charging icon with a lightning symbol' would appear on-screen for about 1 second, then go off
4. then everything would be off for a split second, then loop back to event 1 above
This cycle has been going on for over an hour at time of this posting with no change.
If someone has experienced this loop and gotten out, please let me know how you did it. Thanks!

• Playbook won't start and solution

Hi all,
I would like to post my experiences and potential solutions for dead batteries:
1. Playbook suddenly wouldn't start up when I pressed the power on button. Nothing showed up on the screen; the "charging" light didn't light up; totally no reaction. Weird thing was that the battery was still 2/3 charged the last time when I used the playbook. Not sure why the battery suddenly went dead.
2. I then connected the playbook to my laptop via the USB port. The "charging" light went red for about 15 seconds, it then became green/yellow and blinked for 5 times and then stopped. Nothing on the screen. Pressed the power button, playbook didn't turn on.
3. I then connected the playbook to the wall trying to charge it. The red light again showed up for about 15 seconds and stopped. Nothing on the screen. Pressed the power button, playbook didn't turn on.
4. I then tried stack charging both to the laptop and to the wall. Tried both 2-min-charging-and-2-min-off and 2-min-charging-and-8-seconds-off, both for 10x repetitions. As usual, during the 2 min of "charging", the "charging" light was only red during the first 15 seconds or so. After spending hours on stack charging, I still couldn't turn on the playbook. At this point I wasn't sure if the playbook was actually charging during those 1 min 45 seconds intervals when the red light WAS NOT on.
5. So I tried something different. Instead of plugging the charger to the wall directly, I plugged it to a SurgeMaster(which has a Reset/off button). One end of the charger was connected to the playbook, and the other end to the SurgeMaster. Then, I did the stack charging again. This time I kept the charger attached to the playbook as well as to the SurgeMaster the whole time, but turned on and off the power supply via the Reset/Off button on the SurgeMaster - I turned on the power supply and the "charging" light became red on the playbook for about 15 seconds, I then cut the power supply and immediately turned it back on(via SurgeMaster Reset/off button), and the light on the playbook because red again. Initially during the first 5-6 repetitions, nothing showed up on the screen on the playbook. Then all of a sudden the "red battery charging icon with a lightning symbol" appeared in the middle of the playbook. The "charging" light then turned green/yellow continuously. At this point I knew the playbook was in fact charging continuously. After 10 min or so, I was able to turn on the playbook.
6. After the playbook was back on, the battery level remained at 0% for 20min but was still charging. It then slowly moved back up to 2%, 4% etc.
7. So my thinking is that during stack charging, unless the "charging" light is on, it's not in fact charging. To me at least, the 2min charging intervals didn't work because the light was only on for the first 15 seconds or so. Using a surgeMaster helped because I could then immediately turn on the power supply after cutting the supply. It also shortened each interval to only 15 seconds(for as long as while the charging light was red).
Hope this helps.....

• Playbook refusing to start up, HELP PLS!

Hello there,
I own a Blackberry Playbook for a couple of months now. Never had any issues with the device
till yesterday. After dying (battery was nearly 0%) my playbook won't start up anymore.
All the playbook does is flash the red (through the LED) light when i connect it to the wall charger. Connecting it
to my laptop also doesn't help it will simply flash red and green a couple of times.
I bought the Blackberry Rapid Charger this afternoon to resolve the issue and to charge up the battery quiker then it used to. Sadly enough this doesn't seem to help. When connected the device doesn't even react.
Is there anyone who can help me out with this problem and tell me how to prevent this prob in the future?
Thanks in advance

Have you left it hours and hours on the PlayBook charger to see if it will charge enough to boot?
Search on "stacked charging" and give that a try if it looks like you fit the situation described.
If the device is under warranty you might want to just contact RIM right now.

• PlayBook froze upon launching Music app and won't start again

Hi,
My PlayBook (latest OS update) just stopped to respond, I was using Browser, and when I launched the Music app, the whole system stopped to respond, it stayed on the blue launching screen of the Music app, I pushed the power button and the screen went black, now it just won't start again, I tried to plug it to charge and to usb, all to no avail...
Long pressing the power button had no effect...
So I just don't know what to do, did this happened to anyody? Is there a way to reset the tablet?
Thanks, any suggestions will be welcome!

Well, my PlayBook finally rebooted and responds normally again...
I'm still wondering about the reason for such a crash, it is the first time such failure happens on my PB...

• Playbook won't boot - Completely unique problem

Ok before anyone blasts me for posting before researching I would like to say that I have done my research and this post is my last hope.
I recently bought a second hand Playbook that was advertised as not working for $20. Me being a BB freak and my Wife and I just having a new baby (so no ex tra $) I said to myself "oh they just don't know what they are doing" well apparently neither do I.
This PB was won at a Christmas party this past December and the woman who won it, was never able to get it to turn on.
Now here's the weird part, this PB does not do what 99% of the other either bricked or drained PB's do. This one shows no signs of life at all if it is not plugged in, I will say here that I am only using the charger that came with the PB and no third party or uniusb's. Once I plug the PB in the red led comes on after about 5 seconds and stays on for exactly 10 minutes. From the hundreds of articles I could find I could not find one that showed the same symptoms.
Here is what I have tried so far.
#1. Just letting it charge for 24 hours
#2. Several different Stack methods (as a matter of fact, every single method that I came across)
#3. Trying to get the computer to recognize the PB by hooking up the USB cable, and trying several different ways to get the DM to recognize the PB. No luck, not even for that glimmer of a second like others have reported.
#4. Removing the back casing, after going online and making sure that there was no longer a warranty, and disconnecting the battery from the mother board for about an hour and then plugging the battery back in and hooking up the charger to see if there were any signs of life. NOTHING
#5. Disconnecting all of the pin connections from the mother board, then once again after an hour replacing the connections and trying to charge. Nada
#6. Removing the connections again and placing insulators between the mother board connections and the ribbon connections then placing the display with the batteries in a freezer bag, removing all of the air to stop condensation, then placing it in the freezer for about an hour and a half. Then letting it warm up to room temp and plugging in the charger. Nope
#7. I saw a post about "jumping" the battery by Knotty Rope. Turns out he has a different version PB than this one because the battery connector is completely different than the one he had. Could not trace the circuit enough to find a valid place to apply a 5V source to trick the PB into thinking it has the proper voltage.
Now after all of that I finally (don't ask me why I didn't start with this) tested the battery with my VOM and found that the battery only seems to have 0.91Vdc.....
I know that 0.91V means that the batteries are stone dead and probably have to be replaced and I'm ready to give up.
Update 1: After charging the battery again for about 12 hours I found that the battery has gone up to 0.98V. I just realized though that with the battery being this low the LED is probably using about 80% of the power being put into the unit, so I have disconnected the ribbon going to the LED indicator and I am going to try and charge it for the rest of the day and see if the battery can get a little more power.
Update 2: Ok I finally gave up on trying to charge the battery using the USB port and I carefully exposed the main battery connections and found that the batteries actually had 1.7V. After watching a YouTube vid I then cut the end off of an only USB cord, found the + and - power leads and attached an aligator clip to each. I then hooked up the leads after making sure what the polarity was and began to manually charge the battery. I charged the battery up to 3V and then checked it 2 hours later. The battery was still at 3V so I took it up to 3.5V. I thought this was going to be the answer but apparently not. Still has the same symptoms described below and shows no signs of life. I think I'm going to have to call this unit FUBAR and wait until I can afford a new one
Update 3: I have tried a few more things to no avail but I figured I'd list them here. Since I charged the battery manually the battery has not discharged by more than .3V. So my problem doesn't seem to be a power issue. I have now tried to use a rapid charger and plugging in the USB cable to see if I could make the computer recognize the PB. That didn't work so I removed the mother board and carefully cleaned and dried it using alcohol and a blow drier. That also didn't work. Apparently I'm the only person to ever have this problem happen and even Blackberry themselves are at a loss as to what could be wrong. So I guess I have a shiny paper weight with a good charger for my 9810 and a new BB USB cable. I can't complain after spending $20 on it but I am really disappointed as I was really hopeful that I would finally be the proud owner of a Playbook.
Update 4: As a complete "why not" effort I bought a dock charger for $15 and am trying to stack charge with it but after a few days it still hasn't done anything.

Have you checked the power button on the top. I did see a post where the button was stuck in the down position and the PlayBook would not start. Eventually the poster fiddled with the button using something small until the button popped up again.

Hello frenchguru and welcome to the BlackBerry® Support Community Forums.
Thanks for your question on synchronizing your Contacts and Calendar.
Currently the BlackBerry® Desktop Software does not support data synchronization with the BlackBerry® PlayBook™ tablet.
If you have this data in a supported email account, you can use Wireless sync to add this data. See KB30038 for the supported email accounts types.

• SAP won't start after recabeling sap system

Hi,

I have recently recabled my sap system (from wireless to wired) and now my sap instance won't start anymore. The weird thing is that nothing major was changed. When i read the logs from the work directory it seems it cannot load dbsdbslib.dll. I have updated to the latest version of the kernel and maxdb (kernel=7.00 patch 221, maxdb=7.6.06.07) and i made very sure i got the right kernel (NT AMD64). I also checked the environment settings for the <sid>adm user. The weird part is that it seems SAP cannot connect to the database, but the databse starts just fine and r3trans -d also returns no errors. Does anyone
have an idea what could be wrong?

To answer your questions:

1. Did you create the SAP ticket, where this problem is
reported?

I didn't report it to SAP because it is just an IDES test
system. I can easily do a reinstall, but i would like to know the cause and
solution to this problem.

2. Do you have dbsdbslib.dll at this location? What version?

Yes, i have the dbsdbslib.dll at location
D:\usr\sap\IDE\DVEBMGS00\exe and also D:\usr\sap\IDE\SYS\exe\uc\NTAMD64

My Iphone 5 won't start and tells me to connect the phone to ITunes but nothing happens when I do. The phone doesn´t show up in ITunes. What to do?

Apologies, 11.0.4 is the most recent of course...
You'll need to enter DFU mode.
Connect the iPhone to your computer and launch iTunes
Turn the iPhone off (hold down the power button at the top of the iPhone)
Hold down the sleep/power button and home button together for exactly 10 seconds, then release the power button
Continue to hold down the Home button until a message appears in iTunes telling you an iPhone in recover mode has been detected
Hopefully this should work, with you being able to restore the device in iTunes.
However, be warned that this will erase all content on the iPhone, content you can restore if you have saved backups on your Mac/PC or on iCloud.

Did you download the new iTunes update that was also released this afternoon? That might be the problem. The new iTunes update came out today as well as the new iOS 7 update and if you haven't downloaded the new iTunes update it may be a compatibility problem so if you didn't, first update to the new iTunes and try again.

• All of a sudden Photoshop won't start [on a Macbook Air]

Dear all,
I'm on a MacBook Air with OS X 10.10.2, and I use Photoshop about once a month, but now I really need it, and it won't start:
- Immediately after I click on the Photoshop icon I get "Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 cannot be opened because of a problem." And when I click on the "Report..." button I get a very technical message (see below).
- I've used Photoshop on this machine for about a year with no problem, but recently I had a problem and needed to restore from my TimeMachine backup.
- I don't know if the problem occurred immediately after the restore or not.
- I've read innumerable threads on various forums, but nothing describes my problem exactly. I suspect a problem with my paths and permissions (since I read a report that restoring from a TimeMachine causes such problems occasionally), but I don't know which path is corrupted/missing/unreadable.
- I've tried creating a new admin account and starting Photoshop from there. It didn't work.
- I don't mind reinstalling, but I don't have an installer image. I started with Photoshop 6, then updated to CS2, CS4 and eventually CS5. I do have all the serial numbers but not all update-images.
I would appreciate any hints on how to further diagnose and some the problem.
Thanks a lot in advance!
Bojidar

• X11 won't start anymore!

Hello,
this is a desperate call: I am at a conference with my MBP, (10.6.7, all updates done). I need Matlab for my presentation, which needs X11.
X11 (and XQuartz) decided that they won't start anymore: the icon bounces in the dock for a while, then sits there without the little light underneath, and X11 is "non responding".
The logs show something like this.
I have googled and searched: similar problems once in a while appear but no posted solution.
I tried:
1) reinstalling XQuartz (I would reinstall X11, but how? I do not have the disks with me, I am away!)
2) from an admin account
3) create a new account.
4) repair permissions.
5) reinstall the font update from Apple that was recently issued.
HELP PLEASE!!!

Here is the solution: there was nothing wrong with x11 per se!
The problem was that about 30 files in /usr/bin (like gzip, egrep, hexdump etc) had been hosed (they had 0 file size). The puzzling messages was due to the fact that startx uses hexdump, which was simply silently doing nothing (since it had 0 size!).
I do not know what or when these files were zeroed: I suspect a recent OSX update which did not complete and I had to forcefully reboot.
I have fixed it enough to work (copying those files from another mac), but who knows what else lurks beneath the surface of apparent serenity!
I am actually surprised that the whole system did not stop functioning completely.
MORALE: if something looks strange in the logs with x11 or other apps, check the file sizes in your /usr/bin, you may be surprised too!

• 24" iMac won't start when iPod is connected

My 24" iMac won't start up/restart if my iPod is already connected to it. If I restart with the iPod connected, I just get a gray screen (with no apple logo) forever. Has anyone else experienced this problem? If so, any solution? I have Windows installed with boot camp, don't know if that's the problem, but I tried reseting the p-ram, but to no avail...
Intel iMac 24", 7600 GT, 500GB, 2GB. Titanium Powerbook 667 MHz G4, loaded. Mac OS X (10.4.7) 30 GB iPod Video

My suggestion would be disconnect the iPod. That's just me though.

I'm guessing Boot Camp is the culprit. Whatever emulated BIOS it's using doesn't like the iPod as a startup disk.
