Played Podcasts return

Hello everyone
Is anyone experiencing the same issue as me, using Podcasts on a iPod Touch with latest software update.
When I listern to a podcast, it shows as being played, then if I turn off and on again (holding the switch for period of time or just suspend by pressing the on/off switch) the podcast is marked as unplayed, and what makes is strange is it is totally random, it can happen on a podcasts then not again, or another it totally random. I turned on today and all my podcasts are showing as unplayed? even though I'd listerned to them all
I listern agian let it complete and it is makred as unplayed then switch off, on again and it might not show as unplayed, but another could show as unplayed to be played, its driving me crazy.
I've reset, restored defaults everything, resubscribed to feeds everything still happens.
Anyone see similar?

Yes, I am too.
Found this thread in the iPhone forum that seemed to cover the same issue:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7013430#7013430
Following one of the suggestions there I reset the 'sync history' (Edit > Prefs > Syncing > Reset Sync History" (button at bottom of that tab), which seemed to update the list straight away - will see if this continues to be the case over the coming days though!

  • Played Podcasts, return as not played

    Hello
My iPod Touch has an annoying problem, I listen to podcast(s) they show up on the iPod as being watched. I turn it off (press and hold the on/off button).
Turn it back on a later and the podcasts I have just watched / listened too are no marked as not been played, this is rather irritating feature of my iPod Touch and was wonder if any experience similar.
Its not only just turning it off, that cases this if I sync to my computer it often does not mark Podcasts as being played thus, and will not delete them, and re-sync from iTunes so they reappear as not being played.
I can end up listening to all my podcasts, then switching off or docking hoping it will erase the old Podcasts and sync a bunch of new unplayed podcasts that have ben download, but to my dismay it does download new podcasts but marks the played ones as unplayed.
I have resulting in manually managing my Podcasts as iTunes ans iPod seem incapiable of managing it themselves.
I am running the latest iPod update 1.1.4, I've restore to default settings and no joy.
    Any in a simiar boat?

I am having this annoying problem also. I listen and some show as played others not. It seems to be especially bad if I turn off the iPod after listening. I have a long list of podcasts, and try to eliminate those I have listened to before syncing, which I do periodically. Has anyone found a solution or do I just have to remember the date and title of all podcasts I listen to when syncing. Having to create a playlist to continuously listen is also an annoyance, my iPod classic 40 did not have either of these problems, just a short charge battery. I don't watch movies on mine so I don't think that is the sole cause. I hope there have been some ideas on this since the original post was in March. Thanks

  • ITunes does not play Podcasts in a row

    Hi everybody.
Why is it, that iTunes does not play Podcasts in a row like it does in individual playlists. It stops after each episode of a subscribed Podcast and I have to manually trigger the next one. Even more so, the iPod returns to its main menu after each episode in a Podcast. This is annoying, especially when I am driving or jogging.
Do I have to organize my Podcasts in playlists or is there another trick or tweak?
    Thank you!

Playlists are a possible workaround, but I just drill into the genre -> Podcast -> "All" -> podcast name to get to a list that plays straight through.

  • Nano stops playing podcasts after apx 30 mins.

Each track I have is apx. 1 hour long. My nano will just stop playing them after about 30-33 minutes and return to the default main menu. On rare occasions it will go passed that point but if I touch any control, such as the volume, it stops playing.
Each track plays the full 1 hour+ on problem on iTunes.
    Any information is good information.

I have a nano 2g, 8gig and it stops playing podcasts when there are still 45 seconds left. It doesn't do this all the time but it happens frequently.

  • IPod no longer removing played podcasts

Please help! this is driving me absolutely insane. I have my iPod sync settings set to: automatically include all unplayed episodes of selected podcasts. It used to work just fine, only syncing unplayed podcasts, and removing played podcasts. now it just adds the new unplayed podcasts but doesn't remove the played ones. i make sure that i listen to the podcast all the way through. i am not doing anything differently than i have ever done. help!!!

This just started happening to me.  I discovered after much playing around that the podcast will stay on the device even after being played if it is also listed on a Smart Playlist for which the rules don't include a rule based on the number of plays.  So, for instance, I recently added the Smart Playlists called "today" and "Recently Added".  If you command-click these, and Edit, you will see that the rules that define them do not include anything to filter out played episodes.  To each one I added "Plays is 0" and that fixed it.
Alternatively, with the device plugged in, click on the device name on the left side of iTunes, click Podcasts from the iTunes options (across the top, i.e., Summary...Info... Podcasts...), and on the Podcasts page, uncheck all Smart Playlists that may be checked.
    Hope this helps.

  • HT1689 How can I play podcasts on my iphone without using data?

How can I play podcasts on my iphone without using data?

I used to sync my podcasts to my phone individually, but found out that the Podcast app works better for me.  It continously downloads the podcasts (not really sure when, that's the only thing, when its downloading it may use data depending on where you are) and also deletes the ones i have listened to.  Hopefully that will help you out!

I recently purchased the new nano (7th generation) and I love it except for one issue.  On my old 2nd generation nano, when I played podcasts, it would play podcasts one at a time. So if I had 20 episodes of a podcast on the device, it would stop at the end of each one.
With the new nano, I can select and play a podcast, but when it’s over, it goes straight to the next one without prompting.  It keeps on playing all of the episodes of any podcast until you stop it manually.  Setting the repeat function differently does not prevent episodes from being played automatically.
This can be very irritating when I only want to listen to one podcast.  I’ve often fallen asleep listening to one episode of a podcast, only to be woken up hours later by the iPod working its way through all subsequent episodes.  It is also annoying that any podcast which has started automatically in this way is marked as ‘played’ – even if you stop it within a few seconds.  This makes it hard to keep track of what you have actually listened to.
Is there any way to set the iPod to play all the podcasts individually? I have read the User Guide from cover to cover, and can’t find a way of doing this.

    Dude or hot-spur,
Not fishy at all!!!! You really think I would have taken any more of my time to post a bogus rant? We'll no, it is unfortunately all true. I want to hear from anyone who is experiencing such problems not anyone else that wants to put there two cents in. I really don't need anymore hate or negativity. Just people's experiences because I feel like I am the only one having so many problems. Thank you
Yes, I have had some unfortunate bad luck to have so many problems at the same time, but some of them are just things you cannot do on the new OS.
    Thank you again

  • IPod Plays Podcasts one at a time

I just updated my 4G iPod to V3.1 with the current updater & I am using iTunes 4.9.
Currently, I am only able to play one podcast at a time.
It will not go to the next podcast on it's own. Pressing FWD (>) to what should be the next podcast instead takes me back to the main menu. I then have to go through the the menu to get back to play the next podcast.
My iPod was able to go the next podcast both on it's own & by pressing FWD (>) before I updated the iPod but not know.
My iPod does play songs one after the other as it always did.
It looks like this is the way it is as I can not find any settings to get it to play podcast's one after the other.
    Can any one help?
    Rich

    Thanks for the guess.
    Shuffle was already off.
Only 1 of several podcasts show up in the Genre "Podcast" despite the fact there are other podcasts with "Podcast" as the Genre as listed in iTunes.
So I am now only able to play podcasts one at a time. After each one, the iPod takes me back to the main menu no matter what I do.
This situation is new, & only started after I updated to V3.1. With the previous version, I was able to play podcasts one after the other.
All my Podcasts do show up in the Podcast play list.
I think we need another solution.

  • Can no longer play podcasts downloaded on itunes on 2nd generation shuffle, is there a fix?

Ever since the latest version of itunes was unleased (Apple is so going downhill if this is any indication) my ipod Shuffle 2nd generation (I have 2) will not play podcasts downloaded on itunes. I get orange, green, orange, green lights and then nothing - because the ipod cannot recognize the files apparently. They both do the same thing, I load, they show up as loaded on itunes, I press play, the lights. If I download the podcast from the originator site directly, they play no problem. I have the latest update for the Shuffles, have reset them numerous times and yet the problem persists. I only use these Shuffles to load podcasts daily. I remove them as soon as I listened and then put new podcasts on the next day. Why do I have 2? Because I bought a second one when this started and I thought the Shuffle was broken - now both act exactly the same. Even old podcasts that played fine months ago will not play on the shuffle any longer. Is there any fix? I assume someone else is a podcast listener and is having this same problem and maybe has a solution.

Switch the mode to single plat, not shuffle.

  • Played podcasts no longer removed after iOS5 upgrade on iP4. Why?

I have iPhone 4 and my podcast sync is set to "all unplayed" and yet it doesn't delete played podcasts from the iPhone. It used to do that but no longer since iOS5. Help?

I am having the same problem.  The issue also occurs with Safari on Mac OS 10.7.  I work for a school and I am sure that other schools are using smartfilter too.

  • Auto-removing played podcasts from a smart playlist

I'm wondering if anyone can help me figure out a way to do this. I have two smart playlists for podcasts. The first contains my favourite podcasts and they are removed from the playlist once they've finished playing. This works and I accomplished it like this (using two smart playlists):
Smart Playlist 1 - Favourite Podcasts Helper
    - Album is "Podcast A"
    OR
    - Album is "Podcast B"
    OR
    - Album is "Podcast C"
    etc
Smart Playlist 2 - Favourite Podcasts
    - Playlist is "Favourite Podcasts Helper"
    AND
    - Playcount is 0
As I say, it works great. It's annoying to have to have an extra playlist in there (necessary because you can't mix AND with OR conditions in a single smart playlist) but I prefix it with a "z" and it drops out of sight to the bottom.
Now, here's the problem. I want a playlist for all the other podcasts that DON'T appear in my favourites list and which ALSO removes played podcasts. I don't want to name them all because I don't want to have to remember to add each new podcast to the list because there are a lot of them and I always forget to add them when I load a new podcast onto the iPod.
    I tried to do this:
Playlist 3 - All Other Podcasts
    - Podcast is true
    AND
    - Playlist is not "Favourite Podcasts"
    AND
    - Playcount is 0
It works in so far as it collects all the right podcasts but it won't update, leaving played podcasts in the list. It WILL update if I remove the "Podcast is true" condition but that makes it useless. I tried splitting it up as in my Favourites playlist, moving the "Podcast is true" condition out into it's own playlist but that doesn't help. It seems that as long as a "Podcast" condition is in the chain somewhere, it stops it from updating.
Maybe this is a bug that will get squashed in the next firmware update. Until then does anyone have an idea of how to make it work without listing every single podcast album?

    I had previously tried
    Smart Playlist - all podcasts
    . podcast is true
    Smart Playlist - unheard podcasts
    . playcount is 0
    AND
    . playlist is all podcasts
And that didn't work, I guess because the first playlist won't update. After reading your post I thought that it ought to work the other way around if the playcount is being analysed first:
    Smart Playlist - anything unheard
. playcount is 0 (this works fine)
    Smart Playlist - unheard podcasts
    . playlist is anything unheard
But that won't work either. While the first playlist updates fine, the second one never updates and continues to display content that no longer appears in the playlist it is built on. Frustrating. I'm sure there must be a shortcut that hasn't occurred to me yet.

  • Removing played podcasts from iTouch

Does anyone have any advice on the best way to remove played podcasts from my touch? I have my synch settings set to sych only all unplayed. If I just delete the podcasts, they get added back in because iTunes doesn't see them as having been played. However, iTunes is not automatically deleting the podcasts that have been played from my touch. So now I'm in a situation where I have no space left on my touch because it's filled with podcasts that iTunes refuses to remove.
I'd be very interested in hearing how I can address this problem.
    thnx,

  • Car bluetooth no longer able to play podcasts through stereo interface after 8.1

I have a 2012 Scion Tc (with the pioneer touchscreen audio interface) and an Ipad Air. Since upgrading to 8.1, I have lost all functionality to choose and play podcasts (and specifically podcasts, music works fine) through my car interface. I can navigate my selection of podcast to play but when I pick the one I want nothing happens. If you manually use the podcast app on the ipad and press play, it works fine but cannot navigate to say the next podcast in line. You must select everything through the Ipad, which is not possible when driving.

It appears that the printer is OK and is on the network.  Eventually you may want to set a static IP address for it, but let's get things working first.
The first thing I would try would be to reset the printing system on all the problem Macs:
    - Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
    - Right (control) click the print queue area and select Reset Printing System.
    - Select the plus sign to re-add it. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.
If this does not do it there may be something going on with the router.  I have a few ideas if this is required.  Let me know.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • Playing podcasts in iTunes....not working

I am under the impression that I can play podcasts in my iTunes. I have a particular podcast that will not go onto my iPod nano and will not convert to a movie. (it's a video) Is there a way to play it in podcast form on iTunes. I've tried double clicking it and it won't work........

Sounds like you have a video that is not supported by iTunes / Quicktime.
Right-click the entry in iTunes and select (hmm, forgot exact option) 'show in Explorer' or something like that. That should open Windows Explorer and highlight this particular file. Right click the file and select Open With... QuickTime Player. If QT won't play the file, then you have almost no chance of playing it on an iPod. You would have to convert the file using some other utility to WMV or MPG so that iTunes & iPod could handle the file.
