Playing a film on the TV

Hi. I am trying to play a recently purchased movie (thru iTunes) to play on my TV. It is on my iPad and I have connected it through the iPad cable. My tv shos that have been purchased the same way play perfectly well, just not the movie? I don't have apple tv.
The message that comes up is that the film is not authorized on the device. Is there any way around this?

Check the System Preferences to make sure mirroring is setup.

Make sure your additional display is properly connected and powered on.
From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
From the View menu, choose Displays.
Click the Arrangement tab.
Enable (check) "Mirror Displays" in the bottom-left corner of the Arrangement pane.

It happens sometimes. Delete the current copies, don't hide from iTunes in the cloud if prompted, close iTunes, reopen, download from iTunes Store > Quicklinks > Purchased > Music > Not on this computer.
While downloading click the download icon at the top right and uncheck Enable simultaneous downloads. You may find it more reliable that way.

You cannot go back to an earlier version of iOS.
If you are having Wi-Fi problems I suggest going to some location that offered free Wi-Fi. Your library or a Starbucks perhaps. Does your iPad connect there and work well?
If your iPad works well there you can eliminate the iPad and it's iOS as the cause of your problem.
If your iPad still acts up when connecting to the other Wi-Fi sources I'd suggest a visit to an Apple store to help discover the problem. Be sure to make an appointment prior to going to the Apple store.

Itunes will no longer play any film?

I have recently reinstalled and authorized Itunes on my computer but i can no longer play any films which i have previoulsy paid for and downloaded?

You get this message because iTunes can’t find the file. This can happen for a number of reasons:
The song file or a folder in its path was renamed
The song file or the folder it is in has been moved
The song file has been deleted
The device containing the song files e.g. external drive is not accessible or the drive letter has changed.

I hope someone can help me!!!
I recently purchased the a new Macbook pro (13inc) and having trouble watching videos. After downloading two applications (Dixv Player, and Flash player) in particular after reading the forums here, I can now watch Youtube clips, and films. HOWEVER - I went to go onto a tutorial on the apple website and it wouldn't play. I can hear the audio but there is no picture When I click the video tutorial it opens the video in Dixv.
Really hope someone can help!

The main problem I got is that I want to be able to play all videos from Apple tutorials, to other downloaded items / videos from various sites. I have deleted the Divx programme as suggested, however, I then cant play other films.
Im in a bit of catch 22 situation, ay? If I delete Divx I can watch apples tutorials but cant watch a load of other videos.
Ideally (hence why i got the Macbook Pro) I would like the play all videos!!!???

When I film something the sound isn't recorded... why?

When I try to film something, the sound isn't recorded only the images. Does anybody know what is the problem? In the begginning it used to record everything but after I don't know what happened and when I play the movie in the top of the screen appears like a line showing the fragments of the whole movie and a bar goes passing over the images like a timeline....

The same thing happens to me. But in my case my 12yr old son noticed that I cover the phone's speakers with my hands while filming, not that thats your case. I just thought to tell you cause its funny is all. Hope some one can assist you. Good luck.

Protocol for network storage for remote playing music/films

Hello, i want to make network storage, where i will store music, films and other stuff.
Can any one help please to choose protocol/technology (FTP, CIFS, NFS....) wich let me play music/films from this network storage without copying it to harddrive of desktop.
I whant that it be like in windows network neighborhood.
I used FTP, CIFS(samba), NFS as protocols in network storage and GNOME and KDE4 in desktop, deadbeef as player and audio file with 432 Mb size. When i try to play it on mounted folder it just does nothing.

Since you do not mention anything about real streaming (e.g. real streaming server as NAS which servers video streams to corresponding dumb streaming clients) pretty much any file network protocol should server your needs.
You can easily mount parts of a Linux systems directory tree even via ftp or ssh. There are implementations for Linux which let you mount them as part of your directory tree (ftpfs and sshdfs).

Both have some overhead and are a bit slower since they are implemented via fuse but in general even a 10 MBit should be fine for full PAL DivX playback. For 1080p or multiple HD streams 100 MBit are somewhat nicer.
Make shure that the NAS box has enough CPU power for handling the SSH-load if you use sshfs. Beside this of course Samba or NFS will do the job with higher performance but also require additional services on your NAS box.
All protocols will "integrate" in the desktop environment you use since they are simply part of your directory tree.
As empthollow already mentioned the playback issues are more related to the file itself or the player. You can easily find out by either trying out another player with your audio file or try another audio file with deadbeef.

Does anybody know why my film says the file size is only 96kb?

Does anybody know why my film says the file size is only 96kb (when right clicking on my mac and selecting get info) surely it should be in megabytes its a 50 second film with a few effects on it. Have i maybe clicked on something and changed it all - i moved it to the trash accidentally and then moved it back to my desktop could this be something to do with it?

So, just to confirm, when you double-click on the 96kb file, it opens and plays your video?
If you accidentally created a shortcut ("Alias" in Mac terms) it would likely be larger than 96kb but to check, does the icon have a tiny black arrow in the lower left corner? When you right-click or CTRL-click on the icon to bring up the menu, is there an option near the top to "Show Original"?
If you have another hard drive avaialble, try copying the file to that and re-confirm file size.

Can't play Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

When I try to play Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, it gets through the FBI warning and the "view presented are not the views of the movie studio" disclaimer and then freezes with an error:
DVD Player encountered a system error
Error: -36
I tried this with several different copies (courtesy of my local library) and they all did the same thing. What gives? Can anyone else watch this?

Hi, I have Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (region 1) and just tried it in my ibook - it worked just fine, it went to the root menu easily, and scanning through the chapters worked perfectly. I think either your DVD is messed up (try a friend's or rental?) or it's the beginning of a drive problem. Anyway, I wish you luck in figuring it out...it's one of my favourite films.

Playing a film simultaneously on two ipads

I have two (2) ipads and i was hoping to use them in the car for my two (2) chilldren to watch. I am hoping to play a film from one of the ipads and have it broadcast the picture to the other so they are playing simultaneously but the film is only playin from one (1) ipad.
I was hoping airtime would allow me to do this but it appears not
Does ayone know of an app or a way of me being able to achieve having a single film playing simultaneously

I don't know if the streaming of the movies would be simultaneous - unless he could do it manually like you say. And certainly syncing the movies to both iPads would cost a whole lot less than one of these HD's, but with a set of earphones for each child and a whole selection of movies from which to select, each child could watch their own movie and mom and dad could drive along in silent bliss if they would care to do so. According to the specs, you can stream 3 different movies at once.
I was merely expounding on what Macology suggested by pointing the OP to the website for the HD in case he had any interest. If it was me .... I would opt for syncing the same movie to both iPads, give both kids earbuds and not worry about whether the playback was simultaneous!

I play any films on my ipod but it stops play half way and goes off. It seems the battery caused the device to switched off. Music is great to listen too but, do I need to replace the battery? And how much will cost to replace from the apple shop?

N95 8gb playing videos/films

Hi guys,
Whenever I play a downloaded video/film in the video clips section, it plays fine for about half an hour then the screen goes black and won't come back unless you exit the application - the sound carries on fine, though.
Anyone got any ideas what's wrong?! Cheers!

You are using Nokia Video Manager.
Solution:
Don't use Nokia Video Manager. Use another tool to convert videos.

If you go to the Now Playing screen, the Repeat control is the the arrowed racetrack icon on the left side right below the scrubber bar. Tap the icon to change. It is white when Repeat is off.
