Playing a Logic 7.2 song on Logic 7
I have an Intel Based MacBook and im running Logic 7.2 on it and at College i am using a power pc mac which has Logic 7 on it.
Basically my problem is, i can record something at college and take it home as a logic song and play it, but when i try and take something i have made at home into college it says that it is not a logic song! Is this because i have a more recent version of logic and run on intel? is it possible for me to resolve this problem!? Help!
Can songs made on 7 or 7.1.1 be played sucessfully in 7.2?
I'm still ****** that because I've gone from Panther to Tiger that the stuff I made in Panther plays like **** in Tiger. Bass tracks have piano coming from it. The pans are all backwards, some audio doesn't play even though I can see the file!!!!!
So I have to keep Panther on a separate drive for my old songs. Are they working on this for the future, or am I gonna have to have 8 drives all with previous versions on them to pull up older sessions?

After downloading and installing additional content, no sound will play. Logic has no connection to sound library. No level meter activity.

A small update to this issue....
I have been trawling the forums to find an answer but to no avail...
And... I've tried exporting and bouncing individual stems and the full session, either by muting all bar the stem or soloing the stem.....and still nothing.
Same problems.....everything is audible in audition but nothing plays on playback.
Since the 'prelisten' channel strip is Solo safe this would indicate that you have a track or channel strip soloed somewhere else, out of sight. Are the Mute buttons on your channel strips blinking?
To view all objects in your mixer, click the button. You may have to scroll sideways to check the whole mixer. -

However, the latest Mac build which i believe is v4.2.x.. has restored some of the stability... but still not enough to prevent such issues happening from time to time.
The release notes for it are as follows

Fixed a temporary hang when loading projects in Logic Pro X, or when a dialogue window is triggered

Sorry, not what you wanted to hear I'm sure but your best option is to update Play to the latest version and then say a prayer... Hopefully it will restore some of the stability that is apparently currently and sadly missing... on your system.

Getting RMX elements to play on Logic 7.2 tracks
Hi all
I have built up great sounding drum and percussion layers in the mixer part of Stylus RMX 1.5. I now want to import these to L7.2 transfering the RMX elements (layers) via drag and dropped midi files to separate tracks on L7.2 so that the files can be manipulated as drum layers as I hear them when played in the mixer of RMX, as one stereo mix.
I can't get the separate track midi files talking to the right RMX elements to get the right sounds. It is something to do with the set up of the environment (I hate going there, and I do wish Apple would make this area a bit more 'logical'), but after extensive searches through L7 and RMX manuals It is just not happening for me, can anyone guide me please?
thanksThere is a video tutorial on your RMX install disks that shows you how to set up RMX with Logic - go and watch that for some ideas.
However, to keep this really easy, and supposing you've got RMX on audio instrument 1:
Create 8 tracks all assigned to audio instrument 1 (easy way is to select one track on audio instrument 1 and hit "Create Track" another 7 times).
Now in RMX, go to the browser for part 1, and drag the MIDI file onto the first of your 8 RMX tracks. Go to part two, and drag that to the second track etc.
Because each MIDIfile incorporates the MIDI channel info, playing back Logic will send the correct MIDI info for each of the 8 RMX parts, on MIDI channels 1 to 8.
This will get you going.
Note - it's not the recommended way of setting RMX up - see the video tutorials for that, to save me retyping out the same info - but if will get you going and do what you need initially. -
Can jampack sounds be played in logic pro 8?
I upgraded to logic studio from logic pro 6 and now all my jam pack sounds are in garageband, but not in logic. I installed the jam packs to an external drive. Can the jam pack sounds be played in logic or do I have to play them in garage band?
seems like your instrument library folder for garageband has to be on your system drive, loops however can be on an external drive, but software instruments can not. I moveed the instrument library from my external drive back to the system drive into HD/library/application support/garageband

have iTunes Match, but some of the music I loaded from CDs and I can see in the iTunes store won't play. It recognizes the album but is playing literally the only 3 songs I don't want to listen to.

Initially your music should be in your iTunes library on your computer. Once match completes its scan, your music will have been matched or uploaded. I suggest that you add iCloud status column to song view. This will tell you what has been matched, uploaded, purchased, inelligible, duplicate or waiting. What is the status of your tracks that are not playing.
If space is not an issue, I suggest that you keep the music on the internal hard drive otherwise you can delete the tracks and play from cloud. In both instances, you should maintain a back up of all your music on a separate hard drive.

I have an apple tv 3 but when i use Home Sharing from my Windows Laptop the Apple TV shows all my music on the TV but it will only play 1 or 2 songs and then stops!!! Annoying, so I have to re-start iTunes on my Laptop and it will play 1 or 2 more songs then stops again!!! still annoying.

Next, plug the Apple TV into your computer with a micro-usb cable (most phones today use these) and start up Itunes. It should detect the Apple TV in recovery.
After that, hold down Option on Apple or Alt on Windows and click Restore. This should open a window that allows you to select the software update you want to apply. Select the one you downloaded earlier.
It will then go through the restore process, which takes only a few minutes, and then you will be able to plug the Apple TV back in to your display and set it up again.
I recently ran into a similar issue with a bunch of these things and after restoring them all to the previous software version they are working again. -
I just downloaded a song and it only plays the first 50 seconds and then moves to the next song in the list. How can I get it to play the rest of the song?
If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copy of the track and try redownloading a fresh one. See the following document for instructions:

Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the item, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item. -
I am very disappointed with iTunes. I have 1200 songs and I can’t play them. I try to play them and before one song finisha song starts playing. This then results in hearing two songs at the same time.I will like to know if you can fix this. I feel like listening with the iTunesplayer is useless.

I purchased a song off of itunes and it said it downloaded successfully, but when i try to listen to that song it only plays 2 seconds of that song and i cant figure out how to download that song again. What can i do.

ITunes is SO confused: refuses to play 89 of my 1000+ songs
I backed up my iTunes library to DVD-ROM and had to reformat and reload my entire computer (Windows XP). Reloaded entire computer and reinstalled iTunes 8ish. Restored iTunes library from backup.
(It isn't smart enough to restore all of my artwork, only some; and it forgot which songs were checked and which weren't. Different problems, but poor functionality nevertheless.)
Now, iTunes refuses to play 89 of my 1000+ songs, saying my computer isn't authorized to play them. Stupid, since it's apparently authorized to play all the rest of them. It says I have to authorize the computer with an old AOL ID I apparently used to purchase those songs. Although, many of them were not purchased from the iTunes store, but imported from CDs I own.
So I go through the steps it's forcing me to take. I sign on to the old account, at which point it tells me I have to upgrade to an Apple ID or I can't go any further. Fine. I already have an Apple ID, and there's no way to inform iTunes of that. So I go through the motions to create yet another new Apple ID. Says the request cannot be completed. No explanation.
So I'm stuck. It still refuses to play those tunes, which played fine before I reloaded and restored the computer and library. Now it thinks I have two computers authorized to play iTunes music, and I only have one. Yes, one. It may have been reloaded, but iTunes should be smart enough to figure out that it's the same one. Duh.
So I'm stuck not being able to play music I own and am authorized to play, and it refuses to allow me to transfer or reorient my songs to my normal Apple ID.
Is there anyone who can fix this? I hope I don't have to tell you how ridiculous this problem is, and how iTunes/Apple is forcing me to take steps it won't allow me to take.
Thanks.You can Prevent automatic syncing one time, without changing settings: Open iTunes. Then, as you connect iPhone to your computer, press and hold Command and Option keys (on a Mac) until you see iPhone appear in the iTunes sidebar.

My iPod shuffle periodically skips across multiple songs...playing a song or two in full and then jumping forward or back multiple songs after playing only moments of a song. Please tell me what I can do to fix this situation. Thank you very much.

I find that regardless of which windows-based pc i use (either my xp laptop @ home, or my win2000 desktop @ work) windows and itunes refuses to recognise my ipod. In windows explorer it will show it as a removable drive, but if i click on it, windows freezes. If I try to disconnect it, I cant because windows keeps reporting that 'the device is being used, try disconnecting later' and so then i shut down my laptop to disconnect it safely.
Lately, like you, i've also noticed that clicking sound it makes. It happens when i connect my ipod to my computer - like the drive inside it is constantly restarting or something, and i get it when i'm playing / charging it in my dock. I've also noticed that when it's playing whilst charging, it just freezes on a song, then skips a couple of songs.
I've just discovered the disgnostic tools on my ipod, so i think i'll run a couple of tests (ie HDD scan) and depending on the outcome, i'll go visit the apple store. -
Wont play just scrolls through all songs
i took the songs i put on my ipod at my friends house, off my ipod and now it just scrolls through the Now playing screen of all the songs really fast ,like 1 sec per song without playing the song.What the heck?
It sounds like something became corrupted on the ipod.
Have you tried resetting the ipod first. Just to reboot the ipod.

When I go to play one of my itunes songs in my iphone 5 "Music," about a fourth of the time it will skip that song and go to the next, or skip 2 songs and play the third. Is the new phone defective or is there a setting I need to change? Thanks...

This is a known issue and at this time there is no fix. The workaround is to disable iTM on the iOS device and sync the mismatched songs via USB/Thunderbolt then re-enable iTM. This way you will be assured of having the "correct" version of the track on your device.

I'm afraid I don't understand what you mean. Do you mean you have music stored on your iPod Classic that is not also in your iTunes library? If that is the case, then of course those songs won't be matched or uploaded. A song must be in your iTunes library for it to be processed by the iTunes Match service.

I downloaded a song to from iTunes, but even after the download is complete it only plays one second of the song and then it ends. Any ideas?
Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting that track from your iTunes library and redownload it via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes
