Playing ACC files in Windows ME

I have an old windows ME box that's connected to my soundsystem\HDTV and I want to be able to play songs in unprotected ACC format (would love protected too!) that are stored on another machine over me network. I can already play the few MP3 files but I would really like to get the ACC too without converting all of them! Upgrading the OS is not an option iv'e tried, and I am looking for a free solution. Any help would be apreciated though!

I'm assuming you want to play AAC files? Like ones downloaded from iTunes? I do not myself know of any programs that will let you do that, although I am sure something out there exists that will let you play possibly unprotected AAC files. I am sure someone will know the answer to that. There was never a supported version of iTunes for WinME. It was the worst OS Microsoft ever put out anyway. Hope this helps some....

  • How to play MOV files inside Windows Media Center Edition

I've installed QT Pro, but am not able to play MOV files inside Windows Media Center Edition (MCE). Under "My Videos" from the MCE main interface, I can see the files, but once selected, error message indicates unknown/unplayable file type.
How do I get my MOV files to play inside Windows MCE??

I don't use MSI's MC application so I can't directly answer your question.
However both Win DVD 6 and PowerDVD6 play them just fine by launching the ts.ifo file.
Yes, I know that, but that means that I should use at least two applications. I need only one front end to launch all my media files, inluding ripped DVD files, not as separate VOBs but as whole movies decribed in IFO files.

  • Why won't Quicktime 7.4.1 play .wmv files when Windows Media Player will?

I am running OS 10.4.11 on a Power Mac G4 Quicksilver 2002. When I try to play .wmv files, the following message appears: "The movie could not be opened. The file is not a movie file." However, I can play such files using Windows Media Player. I have installed Quicktime 7.4.1. That hasn't helped.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I already had Flip4Mac installed. However, I re-installed it, but I get the same disappointing message when I try to open .wmv files from Flip4Mac's "Quicktime Player." Perian doesn't work either. At http://lifehacker.com/software/quicktime/download-of-the-day-perian-mac-204423.p hp I read the following: Perian is a freeware plug-in designed to enable the playback of almost every popular video codec in Quicktime.
In fact, pretty much the only major codec not supported by Perian is Windows Media Video files (WMV), but previously-mentioned Flip4Mac should take care of your WMV needs.
I'd appreciate additional comments and suggestions.

  • Trouble playing .mov files in windows

I used iMovie 08 on a Mac to import some videos from a Sony AVCHD camera. It created a .mov file for each clip (veery heavy ones, though short). They can be seen perfectly on a Mac, but in my PC Quicktime tells me i need to download some codec, and I dont know which one. I have lots of codecs though. What do i need to play the files in Windows?
    Thanks

it never gave me any options. when importing the video from the camera i cant choose which codec to use. anyway, i no longer have access to the mac i used. Im stuck with the files in my pc and cant read them.

  • Why can't JavaFx media player play .m4a file on windows xp sp3?

    Hi All
Why can't JavaFx media player play .m4a file on windows xp sp3? I got an exception that 'Decoder is not available' when I played m4a file on windows xp sp3(it didn't work on vista either), but it works fine on windows 7 , so I guess Javafx media player needs some system dependencies or resources when it plays media files, do you have any suggestions for this ?

To allow playback on Windows XP, you need to install the correct software in addition to JavaFX.
Once the system has been upgraded to meet the minimum requirements for playback of a particular type of video encoding, then playback should work fine.
See the JavaFX Media portion of the JavaFX 2.2 System Requirements:
    http://docs.oracle.com/javafx/2/system_requirements_2-2/jfxpub-system_requirements_2-2.htm
Note, m4a is just a container file and data streams inside the container format need to match a supported JavaFX format for playback to work:
    http://docs.oracle.com/javafx/2/api/javafx/scene/media/package-summary.html
    Some approaches you could take:
    - additionally encode the media in VP6 format and fallback to VP6 playback if H.264 playback fails.
    - use a 3rd party player like VLC.
    - don't bother supporting Windows XP video playback.
    - direct a browser to a divx install page if playback fails (http://www.divx.com/).

  • Play mp3 files from windows explorer window

From time to time, I would like to select multiple mp3 files while within Windows Explorer, and play them...
But, if I press ENTER, iTunes only plays one of the multiple files...if I right click on the files for options, selecting either PLAY or OPEN does nothing...
How can I get iTunes to PLAY multiple files selected from within Windows Explorer?
Newest version of XP pro sp2 and iTunes, etc...
    Thanks

Make sure you know the folder(s) where the MP3s reside.  Depending on your setup, it might be "My Music."  Then go into iTunes and use the command File > Add Folder to Library, and navigate it to the folder.

  • How can I play .caf files on Windows desktop computer

I have a voice/sound recording program called Recorder Pro on my iPhone5.   It generates .caf files, which can be transferred to my desktop computer while the phone is connected, using iTunes/Apps (where the bottom left panel upon scrolling down has two apps, Recorder pro and Garage Band, and on selecting Recorder Pro, the .caf files are listed in the bottom right panel, from where they may be copied.
However, none of the software on my desktop would play the .caf files, so following the solution in another post
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/22299971#22299971
    I downloaded Audacity 2.0.5.
Now, to complicate the issue, I have had two versions of Recorder Pro on my iPhone.  The first version (let's call it V1) had an icon with a big oval mid-gray microphone. It was (as far as I can remember) free of charge.  It seemed to have a constraint of 3 min recording time, so I replaced with a second version (V4.1.2) purchased for about $2.  "V4.1.2" has an icon with a red sphere on a black background.
Both versions produced .caf files, but Audacity will only read the three files I recorded with V1 (6 to 15 MB).  The two files I recorded with V4.1.2 (3-10 MB) will not play.  (Import RAW in Audacity does not work either.)
I am not sure what the relationship is between the Recorder Pro programs, as they bear no resemblance in design. They both originated from DAVA Consulting. The first one was I believe from here:
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/recorder-pro/id503031635?mt=8
and the second one says it is 4.1.2.
(A further complication - which could conceivably be relevant - is that V1 appeared in the bottom left of iTunes but the files did not show in the right panel, and I had great difficulty downloading those 3 files - in fact I cannot understand how they ended up copied to my desktop,  since the procedure that was supposed to work was impossible due to the non-appearance of the .caf files in that panel!   Then, when I did find them on my desktop, the files were truncated at less than 4 minutes .... which was the reason for purchasing V4.1.2.  The question then occurs:  is it critically important to download those caf files from your phone in a particular way?)

    Have you tried Vox? https://itunes.apple.com/jp/app/vox/id461369673?l=en&mt=12
It plays FLAC files (and just about anything else) - though not in iTunes. No need to convert anything.

  • MuVo V200 - Need advice on how to play recorded files using Windows Media Pla

    Hi
    I bought a V200.
Transferred the recorded audios to my hard disk but can't get windows media player to play it. Error message of: codecs needed.
It was recorded as a WAV file.
    Please advise.
    Thanks.

Apparently you are committed to certain hardware.  There is no question that the SSD should be installed in the current HDD bay.  Should you choose to have a second HDD, it should be installed in place of the DVD drive.  Note that some early 2011 MBPs had SATAII connections to the DVD drive and some had SATAIII connections (presumably later production models).
I do not run Windows on my MBPs but I do know that parallels is a resource hog.  On that basis, I suspect that it should be installed on the SSD where you can take advantage of the faster processing.  The SSD will be electrically more efficient than than a HDD.  If you have concerns about battery run time, then do not install the HDD in place of the DVD drive.  I do not know if there are third party applications that allow user intervention for controlling a HDD in the DVD bay.  You might search for same.  If there is, then the argument of installing it there becomes a stronger one.
You will have to assess your own work flows to determine what impact it has on the configuration options.  Since I do not know them, I cannot comment on that.
    Ciao.

  • How to Play f4v Files

I am using FMLE 3.2 to save to a file.  Video is H.264, audio is mp3, file extension is f4v.  I can successfully place the file on my FMIS for playback, but is there a way to view the file locally before placing it on the server?  I've tried a number of players (VLC, etc.) that claim FLV suppport, but none seem to recognize these files.
I'm coming from a Windows Media background where I use the encoder to create a file, and instantly play the file with Windows Media Player - no server necessary.  Do I *have* to put my file on my server just to view it?

You have to flatten the file using the f4v post processor (available for free on adobes site) it’s a command line tool you run the file through, takes while but not too long, you can then play the file with vmc, quicktime etc.

You probably have not seen anyone reporting the exact same problem as you. All three crash reports have the same crash signature and as currently ranked 67 it is not the commonest of reasons for a crash.
I hope you enter your email contact information when reporting crashes. I note you see this crash when using videos, others may possibly see this crash in other circumstances.
You have already tried the obvious, attempts at a fix so it is now down to wait and see, maybe developers working on the bug will report something or fix it.
Did you try my suggestion of installing portable ESR ?

  • Windows Media Player Doesn't play video files or DVDs (Windows 7 Home Premium)

    Hello,
I recently purchased a new hard drive and installed Windows 7 Home Premium on it. Since then, Windows Media Player has not been able to play any kind of video files or DVDs. I have tried using the Fixit tool and turning the WMP off and on with the Windows
Features menu, but it has not solved the problem. I have also made sure that my video and audio drivers are up to date.
The errors that come up say:
Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or a required codec might not be installed on your computer.
    and
Windows Media Player cannot play DVD video. You might need to adjust your Windows display settings. Open display settings in Control Panel, and then try lowering your screen resolution and color quality settings.
Any help with this would be great, because I like using WMP better than other media players.

    Hi,
Firstly, please try to use the Video example in C:\Users\Public\Videos\Sample Videos if it could play normally.
Secondly, try to reinstall Graphic Card driver for test.
If problem persists, try to remove WMP in Windows feature and add it again for test.

  • Cannot see files in Windows Explorer, but iTunes still plays 'em

    hi all,
I have all my music files on an external hard drive. Up until this morning, I could browse the files on the external drive using Windows Explorer. Now the iTunes Music folder appears empty when I click on it, and even says 0kbs when I right-click Properties.
But ... iTunes still plays the files fine, and when I right-click Get Info in iTunes, it gives me the correct file path to my external hard drive. When I right-click Show Song in Windows Explorer, it shows me the correct file, yet when I click back up on the root iTunes Music folder, it still shows up empty!
Any clues? This is most frustrating, as I just got a new laptop and am trying to get my iTunes library back on there.
    thanks

    Sorry for the double post.
But i should also add that when i go to Edit Preferences and go to iPod and change anything i want to change. Once the ipod is disconnected, it doesnt save and it all goes back to the normal settings.
    Thanks again.

  • Why are my .avi files extracted using PE3 only playing audio when using Windows Media Player?

I extracted a lot of my old movies using PE3 that came from my 8MM camera. They played fine on XP.
I now have Windows7 64 bit and when I play them in Windows Media Player, they only play the sound.
I'm guessing that this is a codec issue.
Should I re-extract them using a different product that uses a more standard codec?
    Thanks!

It depends on your workflow. So we'll need more details.
How did you digitize the video from your 8mm camcorder? Many devices capture as AVIs, but do so while using codecs that aren't universally playable.  Also, do make sure you've got the latest version of Quicktime on your new computer. It can add some important video functionality to your computer.
You say you used Premiere Elements to "extract" your movie. How did you do this? Did you use a device like the ADS Pyro AV Link or Grass Valley Canopus AVDC?
Finally, are you trying to play the raw files or did you create a project with them in Premiere Elements and then Export/Share your video? And, if the latter, which output settings did you choose?
Meantime, try downloading VLC Player to your new computer and see if it can play the files. It is a much better player than Windows Media Player (or Quicktime Player, for that matter). And let us know yoru results.
As I've said, the more details you can give us, the more likely we can help you.
