Playing and external device, such as a radio

Previously I could play my Sony radio (ICF-SW1) on my Apple Computers, but after getting a MacBook Pro w/Leopard I am unable to obtain output of the radio signal via my computer. The cables are connected properly. I can see in the sound properties that a signal is being received, but in the Audio MIDI setup the "Thru" button is greyed out and I cannot check it.

It worked!! Thank you so much! I'm wondering why Apple decided to take the sound-thru function out with System 10.5. Strange. They should at least include Rogue Amoeba's Line-In on their software downloads site.

Sometimes, while playing back my software instrument songs, I get an intermittent pop-up error message, saying "Error while trying to synchronize audio and MIDI. Sample rate 42804 recognized. Check conflict between Garageband and external device."
(Sometimes the five digit number is different, but remains a five-digit number beginning with "4".)
Simultaneously, the song stops until I press the "Okay" button in the pop-up window.
When I continue to play the song, the sound is jerky and clipped, and the playhead doesn't keep up with the song, and then suddenly jumps to the part of the song currently being played.
There's also a sound of static.
The issue seems to occur whether or not I have my MIDI controller turned on and plugged into my desktop Imac.

Conflict between Logic Pro and external device error in Logic Pro X./cpu problems

hi Logic users,
using a MacBookPro 15 inch Retina, 2,7 GHz intel Core i7, 16 GB Ram, OSX 10,8,5, Logic X 10.0.4.
i am wondering if you can help me out with the following problem i cant solve:
when starting logic x with a not too big arrangement, lets say using one third to half of cpu, i open u-he plugin Diva and the cpu is going up on full range and the following error appears: "sample-rate 39299 (number always changes) reconized. Check conflict between logic pro x and external device"
as external device im running a VirusTi and as audio-device Apogge Duet. when dis-connecting both devices, i have the same problem.
putting the sample buffer up to the highest rate, doesnt change anything.
same arrangements on friends computers dont show that problem, so it has to be something wrong in my set up.
anybody has an idea?

Have you used Diva's preset Accuracy system to reduce CPU load?

Click on the Main button at the bottom of the window. To the right of the Master section are two selectors called Accuracy and OfflineAcc. In the current version of Diva these are global parameters i.e. they remain fixed across all presets, per loaded instance:
draft........CPU-friendly, but FM will sound rough and resonance is primitive i.e. NOT zero delay! fast......... Fine for older computers and/or when you need more polyphony in acceptable quality great...... The best compromise between quality and polyphony on high-power computers divine..... Top-quality zero delay feedback filters... but can your computer can handle it?
OfflineAcc only has two options – same or best (i.e. divine in the current version).
Some host applications may have problems rendering to audio at the selected accuracy, but the
better ones include an “inform plug-ins of offline rendering status” or similar.
I typically work in draft mode and then switch to Devine or best when freezing the track or bouncing the entire project...

Music app and external devices

I'm using the standard Music app that came with my S4. I connected my S4 to my Blu-ray player utilizing WiFi direct. From the music app I select the Blu-ray as my playback device, and it works fine. Problem is that for some reason the 'shuffle' icon disappears from the app when connected to an external device. I've looked at other apps, but I'm having trouble finding another one that will connect to an external device, let alone connect and have the shuffle function.
Does anyone know a way to bring back the shuffle function on the standard app when connected to an external device or know of another music app that will do this?

Logic and External Device

I've read alot about this and I've understood that alot of people have similar problems but I really cant solve this. I have a Macbok Pro ret. with 128 Gb HD, wich isn't very much memory. Since the harddrive is so small, I want logic to save everything on my external device, but I can't find where to change that, the ohnly thing I can do is to manually change location everytime i save a project. I want to chage the standard for all the files and audio logic saves in my library.
Secondly, I want to install apple's jam packs to my external device and when im in the installation window and choose my external harddrive, the "next" button turns grey, indicating that it isn't allowed. How can I solve this?

CCT says that there shoud be a file called "com.apple.MusicApps" after going into "/private/var/folders/", but I cant find "com.apple.MusicApps". I can find similar files though, if i for example click

Flash and Mobile devices such as iphone

I have some html and some asp vbscript pages that run a swf flash file.
It wont run on a iphone etc.
? can I use javascript or something to tell mobile devices that dont run flash to use another file such as animated Giff etc.
? Or should I be using a different media type.

I don't know why a moderator would move this from where you posted it. It is not a Flash question, but moreso a "what instead" question. I realize it is not a Dreamweaver specific question either, but from what I see of the DW forum, only a percentage of what gets discussed in the DW forum(s) actually relates to using DW. Alot of discussion there revolves around general web design issues, like the one you are raising in your posting, not DW issues, so it's surprising they wouldn't/couldn't deal with it there. There is a general web design forum as well, but it doesn't get the amount of attention that the DW forum(s) do.

that kind of stuff I managed to do some tests pretty fast
with a trial
of Glue32 and an USB interfacecard from belgium's Velleman
Takes a bit of reading in the docs of Glu32 and the Visual
Basic
examples that come with the card and you are up and running
in a jiffy!

Starz Play and portable devices

I've been using Starz Play on my Windows PC for about a month now. In addition, I've been trying to use it on my Sansa E250 media player. The E250 never seems to connect. Any suggestions?

I've had a small keyboard - M-Audio Ozone - hooked up to my Mac Mini through a USB and it has worked well through Garage Band until now. It tells me there is a conflict there is no sound at all coming from the keyboard. What can I do to correct this problem?

Have backed up my I Tunes music on external device, downloaded Itune program on my new laptop, transfered from external device, but music wont play without external device plugged in, it askes to locate original file when i try to play music without external device plugged in, please can you help

It sounds like you restored the library in a way which has the library assoicated with the tracks on the external rather than the internal drive. Did you perhaps use iTunes to consolidate to that drive before the transfer and copy the library files over independently?
I have script called FindTracks that can usually repair broken links, alternatively I might be able to guide you through some steps that would make the library on the external drive work as a self contained unit, and having done that you should be able to copy the library files to the internal drive to repair that one. See make a split library portable for details.

Is anyone elses iPod making a echoing sound when you plug in headphones or an external device?

Please help me I notice when I plug in an external device such as headphones or a car accessory my iPod makes this scratchy echoing sound and you can just hear back up music

Problem with external devices

I am having a problem with FCP and external devices. I have FCP 5.1.2, and a Sony DCR pc100 handycam, which I use to capture and record to tape all my projects. Some time ago, however, the program simply stopped outputting to the camera. I am able to capture, and the program recognizes the camera, but nothing is returned to the device. At first I thought that it was the camera, since it´s old and all, but I tried with different, newer ones, and the same thing happened. I have changed the settings in FCP, and also changed the firewire cable to see if that was it, but nothing....not only am I not able to record to tape my projects, but also I´m not able to see my work on an external monitor. If you have any ideas, I´d prreciate them....

I know that is of no help, but I have the same problem with a Toshiba harddrive. My wifes Macbook Air recognizes it. No problem with the hd I guess. The cable available in market are having can be plugged to the device having female connector.I will need converter in between as my device is having male connector. Can i get such cable? If yes can i establish communication in between my app and device over these cables.I am not passing any audio/video data or photos.I am sending data frames. My device is having firmware and it sends data frames in firmware understandable format. Let me know can i have two way communication in between over USB/BT?

HD-DVD won't play on Satellite P200-123 Unable to output to external device

I bought a P200-123 yesterday. One of the first things I tried after the Vista installation initially completed was running an HD-DVD. I know the disc is fine as it works in my Xbox 360. Unfortunately, it didn't work with the supplied HD-DVD player software - the play icon lights up and then I get this error message:
"Unable to output the video to an external device. Please switch your display device by pressing the Fn + F5 keys after ending the application."
I don't have an external display connected to the laptop. I tried different discs but all gave me the same error. I then carried on updating drivers and installing a bunch of Windows updates. I repeatedly tried the HD-DVD player throughout the countless updates and reboots but I always get the same error. Out of frustration I bought PowerDVD Ultra. That plays the movie for about one second before giving me an error:
"Cannot initialize secure display session - (Error Code = 0122)"
The error dialog goes on to say that the error could be caused by an incompatible graphics driver or beccause I'm using a dual-monitor setup. The reference to dual monitors is common to each player application so I'm wondering if the problem is in that area. I haven't connected a secondary display but when I look at the standard Windows display properties dialog or the ATI Catalyst control center app I can see a disabled secondary display. I'm assuming that's normal - there's no obvious way to remove the disabled secondary display.
Can anyone help me get HD-DVD playback working?

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I downloaded that and tried it yesterday but it didn't help :-(
I noticed that a couple of other unrelated things stopped working after the last batch of Windows and Toshiba updates - for example, the Event Viewer snapin wouldn't load and the built-in .NET Framework 2.0 installation appeared to be corrupt until I ran sfc to repair it. I was getting pretty sick of the whole thing so I took the drastic step of nuking the C: drive and installing Vista Ultimate from my own retail DVD.
One hour later I have a working Vista Ultimate installation and, interestingly, I installed the Toshiba HD-DVD player and it now works!!!
It was a pretty drastic method to get it working - and not everyone is going to have a retail copy of Vista just lying around - but at the moment everything looks good. I still don't understand the original root cause (or which software update messed up Event Viewer/.NET Framework) but I guess it's kind of a solution...
