Playing audio CD tracks in iBook

Hi there,
I recently bought an ibook which comes with accompanying CD tracks. Within the book itself there are shaded rectangles bearing the number of each of the tracks. My understanding was that you simply press down on each shaded area to play but this does not do anything. I phoned up Apple Support today and they offered two solutions, neither of which worked. The first was to push down on the home and power buttons simultaneously to re-set the device, and the second was to delete the ibook from the library and download it afresh. Can anyone advise? Thanks for your suggestion. I tried the recommended link from my e-receipt but the link didn't work, so I decided to contact Apple by email. I have been exchanging emails with an advisor for the past hour but unfortunately no solution as yet. I'll post the outcome in case anyone else is experiencing the same problem. Thanks again

After moving files to new iMac, an iMovie project won't play audio music tracks

I bought new imac. Transferred files using target disk method and firewire - drag and drop. All files appear to have moved OK to new imac. But when I try to resume working on an imovie project that I had started on the old imac, the itunes music clips I dragged into a series of clips does not play the music, even though the green bar appears under the clips and the audio adjustments appear to be the same as in the old imac, which I still have. The audio that is "built in" to the original clips when the videos were made on the camera are still there and play. Help, please ? Thanks.

*Not knowing the origin to Your problem - General approach when in trouble is as follows.*
• Delete iDVD pref file - *or rather start a new user/account* - log into this and re-try
iDVD pref file resides.
Mac Hard Disk (start-up HD)/Users/"Your account"/Library/Preferences
and is named. com.apple.iDVD.plist
While iDVD is NOT RUNNING - move this file out to desk-top.
Now restart iDVD.
• Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk if it is less than 10Gb should rather have 25Gb
• Hard disk is untidy. Repair Permissions, Repair Hard disk (Apple Disc Util tool)
• Program miss-match. iDVD 5.0.2, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK - DON’T work under Leopard
• Program miss-match. iDVD 6.0.4, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
• Program miss-match. iDVD’08 v. 7.0.1, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
• iDVD (08) v7 Locate theme folder. Move out iDVD1, iDVD 2 and eventually iDVD4 folders to desktop - re-try
• Try a Cleaning CD/DVD that cleans the laser lens on the DVD burner/player
iDVD 6.0.4 and iDVD 7.0.1 are compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard

I deleted every iDVD application and folder from my boot drive,
emptied the trash and then installed iDVD 08 using the customize option
and I am up and running.
If You do a re-install be sure to get rid of all iDVD old parts AND then EMPTY the Trash-basket !

Start a New Clean project - or delete project assets

Does it not play at all or cannot you get the audio in the timeline?
Did you copy the entire card to the hdd and then imported the file via the Media Browser?
Did you source patch the audio tracks?

How can I code to play audio continuously from page to page in iBooks for reflow ePub

Hi,
I have tried and successfully completed the iBooks ambient soundtrack option in Fixed Layout ePub. It works fine.
But while trying the same in Reflow ePub, it is not working in iPad iBooks. I have latest iBooks version and latest iOS version in my iPad.
Please let me know how can I code to play audio continuously from page to page in iBooks for reflow ePub?

That's how it works in all cases.
the book is a read aloud book.

Logic Pro 9 When I open a file which contains a composition of many midi and audio tracks, no sounds play or some tracks are playing the wrong sounds. The project was working perfect when it was saved and closed down.

Does anyone else understand what is happeneing, its like all the tracks and plugins are confused and are playing all the wrong sounds if at all. I've checked the audio setting which seem fine but cant understand where it all goes horribly wrong. Thanks

Is it just a Logic problem; can you for-instance play audio in iTunes trough the Tascam? And what about new projects; you get audio there?

Audio tracks playing audio when there are no objects...!?

Hi. I would be really grateful if anyone could help me with this problem as I have spent days and nights tearing my hair out so far.
Basically, all my LSO's were created in Logic 6.4.3 and were working fine until (I think) I upgraded to 10.4.8. Since then I have just bought the upgrade to 7.2.3 to try and rectify this problem but still to no avail.
What is happening is that in all my songs, I have tracks playing audio there is no audio object there. I also have audio objects that are not playing at all.
The strange thing is that I have tried in Logic Express and there are no problems with the same songs.
I have been using Logic since version 4 so am a relatively experienced user; I have tried all the obvious stuff (trashing prefs, permissions etc) as well as checking all my inputs, outputs etc in Logic itself. However, what has happened has ultimately changed all my songs in one go and has not been caused by any mistake in use.
As I said, I am really desperate here and would be so grateful if someone can suggest how to overcome these issues.

Everything is in order in the Mixer and Arrange window. I have checked the Environment and even tried building an Environment from scratch.
I have removed all plugins to see if that is causing it but still nothing.
As I say, exactly the same arrangements are playing fine (just as they used to!) in Logic Express but if I try in either 7.2.3 or go back to 6.4.3, I have this problem...
Please keep the suggestions coming as I really don't know how I can sort this out and it affects all of my work (3 albums +)

Cannot play audio CD with Creative MediaSource Pla

Hi All,
I recently installed an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum soundcard and the Creative MediaSource Player software. I also purchased Creative 5. Analog speakers. Have everything configured pretty well now and really enjoying the enhanced sounds!
My problem is that I cannot play audio CDs using the MediaSource Player. I can see my DVD Player and CD Player in the MediaSource Player 'Source' column and a list of all the tracks on the CD. (no track info, just track numbers and length)
When I double-click on a track it cycles through all the tracks and then places an 'X' next to each one in the 'Now Playing' list window. If I have other music files from my harddri've available, it will start playing one of them.
I've tried different CDs with the same results.
I can use both the DVD and CD dri'ves to play an audio CD if I use any other player (Winamp, Windows Media Player, etc.) and use both dri'ves everyday for loading software and reading files. It will also read the demo DVD Audio disk that came with the card using the DVD-Audio player they provide so I'm pretty sure there's nothing wrong with the hardware or drivers.
I've read all the info that came with the card and on the Creative Web site and have been through every configuration screen multiple times but haven't found a switch that turns this feature on.
Would like to get this working so I can standardize on one player that allows me to use all the advanced features of my new card.

A good way to see what kinds of things you might need for something like vlc is to look at the optional dependencies for the package. So if you do pacman -Qi vlc if the package is installed on your system already, or pacman -Si vlc if not yet installed, you can see in the output what kinds of optional dependencies there are. 2nd Gen (Touch Wheel) won't play audio book from iTunes Music Store

I have a 10GB Touch Wheel iPod (2nd Gen). Software version 1.5.
I recently purchased the unabridged version of The DaVinci Code from the iTunes Music Store. The 7-part audio book plays just fine on my iBook and on my daughters' Nanos but it does not play on my older iPod.
What happens when I choose the first part on my older iPod is that you can see it cycle through parts 1-7 without playing anything and then returns to the main menu.
I don't have problems with other music or previously purchased audio books.
Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.

I figured it out on my own... somehow my device got switched to "shuffle" mode. I have no idea how that happened, but there you go. Since I never use it in that mode, it never occurred to me to check that. Sigh. I switched it back to 'play in order' mode and now it is just fine.

ITunes wont recognise Audio CD Track format files (No answer in Archive)

I have a 60GB iPod. Have downloaded the latest iTunes and iPod drives. I usually copy all songs on a spare removable mass storage disk drive, and then add the entire folder made up of hundreds and hundreds of songs.
Now. All songs with MPEG format, and the ones that already have names somewhat, as long as it is not named with Track, do get recognized and get applied in iPod. But no songs named Track and a serial number, that is in Audio CD Track format do. They get instantly copied, as they are 1KB each, both in CD and where they are copied. But nothing more than that happens. It wont be played in Windows Media Player neither. I renamed it from Track to anything else, thinking perhaps in an attempt to keep files organised iTunes deliberatly doesnt recognizes them, but that didnt worked also. The songs can be played from the CD, but arent recognized when they are copied on a disk.
How do I put the songs named Track with Audio CD Track format on my iPod. Thanks in advance.

IPhone 4S keeps playing audio from a video file that is no longer on my phone.

If I'm listening to music and try to change tracks or pause with the earbud buttons the music fades out and starts playing audio from a video file. It will only play about 3-4 seconds and then stop. This also will happen when double clicking the home button to try and change tracks. When I do that the track skipping buttons won't work and there's no title for the short bit of audio that plays. The only way to get music to start playing again is to go into music and press play again. The music I had been listening to is sitting there paused. The audio from the mystery video file still sometimes plays even when you're in music and the only way you would know is the little play icon at the top right part of the screen. I have removed every video off of my phone and it still does it. This is really frustrating.

Sounds like a bad battery. You'll need to bring the phone into Apple for evaluation.
I'm sure you've been using your phone as designed and properly backing up your data, so you should have minimal, if any data loss should the phone need to be replaced.

Video Podcasts Playing Audio Only

I'm trying to play some video Podcast's that I DL'd from Itunes, I made sure they were Ipod Compatible and not Apple TV, they show up under Podcasts but play audio only. This is a Brand New 30gb 5.5g

You say you get the audio only. What do you see when you play the podcast: Does it look like when a song is playing from your music library? If so, you may just be accessing the Podcast from the wrong menu. Make sure you go through the Videos menu.

Can't play audio cd

Hi,
This is probably a very basic thing, but I'm having problems playing an audio cd. I know that for audio cd's you do not mount them like you would a regular cd-rom, but I just can't get XMMS to play audio cds.
I have the directories in the XMMS Cd module set to /dev/cdroms/cdrom0 and /mnt/cd; I've also tried using /dev/hda with no success. Cdtool reports that theres "no disc" in there, even when there is.
The drive reads cd-roms, dvds all fine.. but I don't know whats going on with audio cds. Any suggestions?

Click on open file.
Go to /mnt/cd. You should get a listing of the tracks.
Click on "Add all files in directory"
Click on "Close"
Click on Play. The tracks should be in the playlist.

What is the source of the videos and movies? Downloaded from the iTunes store or did you convert them from other sources? If the latter...
QuickTime expects video files with separate video and audio tracks, but many MPEG formats used a muxed (multiplexed) single track that contains both. Therefore, iTunes & the iPod (both of which use QuickTime) only show the video and no sound.

"Autoplay" doesn't work for playing audio in mobile Safari (iphone)?

QuickTimeKirk, thanks a lot for your answer, but I'm interesting in Mobile Safari, not IE, FF or Opera This is these problems appear only for iphone browser, for others ones it works fine, even in Safari for Windows. So, autoplay still doesn't work... And please consult me about quicktime player browser's plugin, I mean why I cannot play sound with javascript function [documetn.getElementById("qtplayer").Play()] without opening sound track in plugin window? I really need playback in background. Or is it feature of quicktime?
