Playing AVCHD videos in iPhoto.

It's great to see that apple have update iPhoto to allow the import and watching of AVCHD videos. However, when I play mine, the quality is very bad. Almost like the frame rate cannot keep up. There are horizontal lines in the video as movements happen. Does anyone know how I might fix this? Is anyone else having the same problems?
Thanks for your help!!!!!

Maybe this will help: Using AVCHD video with iPhoto '11

  • PSE13: no sound when playing AVCHD videos

In the PSE 13 Organizer I'm not getting any sound when playing AVCHD files:
These files play just fine in PSE12
These files play just fine in Premiere Elements 13 and 12
The files are from various cameras (Sony RX100M3, Sony and Panasonic camcorders)
Other video formats work fine (e.g., .wmv, .mov files from an iPhone, .avi etc)
Any ideas? A quick search indicates this problem has occurred occasionally over the last several years across various versions of PSE.
    Thanks

    Hi Anewsha
    I use .mts.
To clarify : The problem occurs in the organizer part, where sound
disappears after palying 30 seconds. I run a fairly powerful computer, Core

  • I took some videos using my iPhone 5c and uploaded them to my computer.  I can play the videos in iPhoto, but when I open them in QuickTime, they are dark and silent.  Why can't I see them in QuickTime?

I took some videos using my iPhone 5c and uploaded them to my computer.  I can play the videos in iPhoto, but when I open them in QuickTime, they are dark and silent.  Why can't I see them in QuickTime?

Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • I can't play  my videos in iPhoto

I can't play  my videos in iPhoto, doubleclicking them doesn't work anymore. Is there s solution, what can I do?

    Hello, Terence!
My version of the program is iPhoto'09 8.1.2 (424), my operation system is Mac OS X, version 10.6.8.
As far as what I was doing when the problem arose, I actually don't know. I have watched some of the videos I have imported from my camera on my computor before, that I do know. But it is now that I have started to make movies in iMovie that I really noticed this problem.
The video format is IMG (strangely enough) and there are no error messages. I have not been able to import these videos to iMovie, either. I have unsuccessfully searched the iPhoto and iMovie manuals for solutions.
I have installed a lot of programs on my computer, including Parallels Desktop and Windows 7 (which I put in from the start).
Thank you so much for your kind help!
    Regards, Joslif

  • I want to play AVCHD videos in ipad from my JVC camcorder.which is the best tool for converting the avchd videos to formats that ipad can play?

I have a JVC HD camcorder that creates videos in AVCHD format that ipad cannot play. Which is the best tool to convert these avchd videos to the format ipad can play?

Airplay is a wireless streaming protocol. It allows content to be pushed from the iPad through the Apple TV onto your connected HDTV.
If she wants to see the iPad displayed on the big screen and/or play games that involves mirroring. As long as it's an iPad 2 (or later) then you will be fine. More info on both has been referened below

  • (OSStatus error -54.)  when I try to play a video in iphoto

I get this error message when I try to play my video " the operation could't be completed, (OSStatus error-54). I am sorting out my albums and was putting all my videos on on cd, There are about 10 that won't play or get transferred to the cd, Our they just blanks or are there anything on them? These are all done on a 2012 MacBook Pro 15",and updated to the latest OS X  10.10 , Same with iPhoto. Ia it because the speed of the ones left behind is to high. and I need a DVD instead of a CD?. I about to just skip these blank ones and try with a DVD. Thank You.

If you have Perian and 3ivx, these could be the ones guilty of the error. I had the same problem so I installed 3ivx and Perian. I'll install Perian again to test if it works, but I won't place 3ivx on my Mac again. This link helped http://forums.cocoaforge.com/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=23502

  • IPhoto '11 no longer plays any video

Hello, I"ve searched the forum and not yet found a solution to this problem.  I recently upgraded to OS X Lion and iLife '11.  I am running iPhoto 9.2.1. on my Macbook Pro and iMac and can no longer play any videos in iPhoto.  iMovie seems to be plagued byt the same issue.  I remember having to delete a couple files from the Library when I upgraded iPhoto.  The files were 3ivx files.
Can anyone please help me or point me to the solution elsewhere in this forum.
    Many thanks,
    Tim

First try installing   Perian and see if that fixes it. If not then look in your Home/Library/Quicktime folder to see if there's a 3ivx plugin there.  If there is remove it. It's not compatible with Lion and usually crashes iPhoto.  With that in mind I doubt you'll find the plugin.

  • Viewing or working with videos in iPhoto

I downloaded a bunch of pictures and 1 video from my Canon camera and I can't play the video in iPhoto. How do I play it and how do you work with videos?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. When you installed Snow Leopard did you select the option to include Quicktime Player 7 in the installation? It would be in the Applications/Utilities folder. If it's not there then do a custom install of SL and select just QT Player 7.
If it's there then it could be a codec issue as Roddy has already pointed out.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: The new rebuild option in iPhoto 09 (v. 8.0.2), Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" makes this tip obsolete.

  • Playing GoPro Video 120fps - defaults in slow motion

Is there a way to change the speed of play in Photos?  My GoPro videos that I took at 120fps are played in slow motion by default and I can't figure out how to change it to play at normal speed.  Ideas?

With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a solution.  We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
is this when you play the video in iPhoto? Yes
what version of iPhoto are you using? The latest
what system version are you running? The latest
where is the video from? Camera
does it play correctly if played outside of iPhoto with Quicktime Player? No
what fixes have you tried? Running Quicktime which shows Slo-mo; unchecking it and then saving it
where is your library located? On my startup drive in my docs
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring? No
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library? Don't know; do not have this screen in iPhoto
what type of Mac? Mac Pro
how much free space on your boot drive? 200 GB

  • HT202465 AVCHD video clips

    Using Yosemite 10.10.2
All of a sudden, I can't import video clips to iPhoto.  I believe it is since I updated iPhoto to new version.
I have tried drag and drop as this site says... Using AVCHD video with iPhoto '11 - Apple Support
and tried all 3 ways... and still won't work...
To get only the AVCHD files, you can import PRIVATE, AVCHD, or BDMV.
Please help and thanks in advance.

    Dont know.
What about the slow down workflow?
I suppose dealing with hundreds of 60p clips interpreted at 23.976  could have something to do with it but then again, this issue didn't seem to happen until the last few months. I can't remember if I saw it happen prior to the last update. But it definitely didn't happen in CS6 when I wasn't GPU Accelerated (I was Software only due to the AMD GPU). Could all this be GPU related because why else would it not have occured before? Our workflow hasn't changed...only the program. The only other thing I think that was changed in the last few months was that I checked the media cache box that puts the clips with the original media. Other than that, no changes really.

  • Skip importing video in iPhoto

Is there a way to skip importing video in iPhoto?
My camera records AVCHD video and I import videos to iMovie. It is annoying to deselect videos manually in iPhoto.

With iPhoto 9.3 you can import AVCHD video into iPhoto
the only option is to imported selected rather than Import all

  • When I double click on videos in iPhoto, they don't play

I have a problem on that now I have installed iLife 09 (and don't even go there suggesting I install iLife 11), it will not play videos in Quicktime anymore, even when downloaded from my iPhone 4 camera roll.
I have Quicktime Player 7 Pro installed....
    What to do?

Are you able to play these video files form outside of iPhoto?  If you can't then the problem lies with the system or account. If you can play them outside of iPhoto then the following may be helpful:
Launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new library.  Import a couple of video files into it and see if you can play them.  If so then the problem lies in your main library.  If not then it's an account or system wide problem.
To test to see if it's system wide log into another account and try from there with iPhoto.  If not then it's system wide and I'd try reapplying the Mac OS X v10.6.7 Update Combo. I would also boot into Safe Mode and try there.  If it still won't play that pretty much pins it down to system.
If you can play videos in the other account then there's something in your account that's the culprit.

Videos on iPhoto no longer play. All was fine as I was organizing photos, but suddenly no more videos would play. What has happened?

Something went wrong. Now for a useful answer...
Before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Basic stuff:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
    - Did it ever work properly?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.
With this kind of information somebody can develop a starting point for troubleshooting the issue.
Posts that consist of "iPhoto doesn't work. Help" or "iPhoto won't print" or "Suddenly I have no photos!!!!!!!!!!" mean that any helper is simply guessing. With information, s/he may be able to get your issue resolved sooner.

  • Playing videos in iPhoto

Whenever I try to play a video in my iPhoto library, a Quicktime window comes up but doesn't play the video. When the window comes up, it is a window filled with advertisements for iTunes and things like that. Any idea how I can get my videos to play?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Where are the videos from? It may be a codec that isn't supported. Try installing Perian (get it from VersionTrcker.com) and see if that will help.
Export one of the videos to the desktop (use Type= Original in the File export pane) and try playing it from the desktop with Quicktime Player.
