Playing Counter Strike Global Offensive on Macbook Pro Retina 15"

Hello,
I have a Macbook Pro Retina 15 2.3GHz 16GB ram. The moment I start to play the fans turn up and when I take a look at the processes looks like the game takes 100% of my CPU. Is this natural?

Yeah what Jon P D Said. You have 4 cores for a total of 400%. 100% is using one core at that 100% or 2 cores at 50% each or 3 cores at 33.3333333333% each or all for cores at 25% each.
Which one of the above I have no idea. Nothing to worry about, really. The fans are trying to keep the system cool and is normal when playing a game.

  • Playing Counter Strike Source on Macbook Pro Unibody crashes constantly

I'm running Macbook pro with the 2.8 ghz processors and 320gb 7200rpm I've boot camped my mac with a xp 32bit cd installed all the drivers from the mac os cd then installed the rest of the drivers and updates from windows update then once that was finished i went to apple.com and downloaded bootcamp 2.1 update for xp. installed steam then bought and downloaded CS. I'll load up counter strike and i turned all the visual effects to as low as they go the resolution is not high same as the ratio which is set at normal.I'll be playing counter strike and within 10 seconds of joining a server to about 4-5 minutes my computer screen will go black sounds will repeat like it froze then i have to hold the power button. At first i thought it was the laptop overheating. XP runs the fans at full speed and my laptop is sat on top of a laptop cooler with 2 fans spinning at 2000rpm. I didn't think this was enough so i put a pretty powerful house fan up next to my computer and put it on full blast. The unibody didn't even get warm it was so good at cooling but yet again 2 minutes playing CS I crashed again. Can anyone help me out? Other then the crashing and having to reset my laptop the game runes at 150fps average even the video stress test said i did 190 fps.

After several more tests I’ve arrived at a solution.
There seems to be a random element in Boot Camp’s installation process that creates an IRQ resource conflict in Windows. The BSOD I was getting indicated that “IRQL not less than or equal to” and a BCM.sys file was responsible for the conflict. This file is related to the Broadcom Ethernet driver.
Reverting back to Boot Camp 2.1 actually made Counter Strike crash even sooner, but suggested to me that Boot Camp drivers were responsible. I performed a complete uninstall and reinstalled to Boot Camp 3.0. Hours of game play later and no crashes or BSOD.
If a complete uninstall and reinstall doesn’t fix it for you the first time, try it again. I think it just has to “randomly” assign the IRQ correctly. Manually assigning the IRQ probably won’t work as Windows apparently cannot detect the conflicts until it fails.
Direct X 10 is not responsible for the problem. I tested this by running CSS in 9.0c mode via an advanced start command and it still crashed. Oh, and I also discovered that Direct X 10 is integrated into Vista and cannot be uninstalled or rolled back.

  • Having some troubles while playing Counter Strike: Source

    Hi guys,
Currently I'm using the Macbook Pro 13.3" 2nd version ( 2.9GHz, etc.). It's from Mid 2012 I believe. Anyway, I got it for passing my finals, so I've got it for less than a month now. And the thing is, I'm not really satisfied with the way it works. Please note that I'm not talking about the operating system. I feel that the performance is pretty poor, the battery dies on me really quick and it gets extremely hot. Not warm, but HOT. I could fry an egg on the bottom of my laptop.
I would expect something that costs so much, to work perfectly.
My apologies, I'm going off topic.
Whilest playing Counter Strike: Source, which should work perfectly fine on a MacBook Pro, I've noticed a rather poor performance. It shocks a lot. It's not "lag", because I have it on all the servers, even where my internet connection is around the 15 ( which is really good, the lower the better).
This is my very first laptop so I'm not sure what to do and how to use one properly. If all these symptoms are considered normal, then I would like to apologize in advance.
    Kind regards,
    Patrick

  • I would like to play an audio cd on my macbook pro. on either the mac or MS parallel window as I have that installed but can't

I would like to play an audio cd on my macbook pro. on either the mac or MS parallel window as I have that installed but can't

iTunes is part of OS X, which implies that iTunes was deleted, or that your OS X installation is corrupt.  In either case, the easiest approach usually involves downloading the combo update for OS X — the so-called combo update, and not the delta update — and installing that.
Applying or re-applying the OS X combo update won't alter your user files, but will reload all recent OS X changes, and should also cause iTunes to be re-loaded.
If you are running Mavericks 10.9, then download and install the OS X Mavericks 10.9.5 combo update.
You'll want to have a backup of your system — updates don't fail often, but they can fail.  If you don't have Time Machine or some other form of backups running, get that going first; before further changes here.

I have been playing whole movies before from VLC without problems.
    Any Ideas?

Yes it's network issues or settings that cause these types of problems most of the time.

  • MacBook Pro Retina 13" fan very loud/overheats when playing full screen video/games

    Hi,
Just purchased a MacBook Pro Retina, refurbished (because why not - the same product for a cheaper price) around a month ago. It's the 13 inch and is the model before the most recent one came out (4GB of RAM instead of 8GB - late 2013). From the very first day, playing a full-screen video on any site (be it YouTube, Facebook, etc) just makes the fan much louder than usual (so loud that you can almost hear it more over the video itself). Thought it may have been just a thing with Flash Player being buggy, but the problem has persisted for a while now. I'm not even pushing the CPU to any limits - literally playing a full-screen video on Facebook (not even in HD) makes the fan go crazy.
Just last night I tried installing Borderlands 2 and it was the same thing - FPS rate was fine, no lag, just the fan was so loud that I actually got scared for my computer and turned it off. After closing the app and checking out the fan temperature, it was at 91c.
Never happens when browsing/surfing or doing my usual work.
Should I go give it back to Apple? The thing is I start university in less than a week (and hence will be traveling), so not sure if I can afford to give my laptop in to them for a long period of time (I know it should be free though since mine is a refurb item). May it just be an issue that is quickly repairable or is this worse?

During processor intensive activities—such as processing HD video or playing a game that makes extensive use of the graphics processor—the    fans speed up to provide additional airflow.

  • Battery Count on MacBook Pro Retina?

How do you know how many cycle counts are on a MacBook Pro Retina 15.3" ? On eBay there are some like new ones for sale and it states" 244 cycles" ?
Do different models have different battery charges before you need to replace the battery?
    How about iPads?
    Thanks.

I don't have one yet. I was looking on eBay at a 15.3"MacBook Pro Retina with 16 GB Ram and a 768 GB hard drive. It is a June 2012 model. Any help?
Thanks for your reply. If I had one I would look it up. Will keep data for future use.

  • What is the reasonable battery count cycle for a new macbook pro?

what is the reasonable battery count cycle for a new macbook pro? I just bought it and i found that the count cycle for the battery is 6, is that normal?

First off, a MacBook Pro is not a Power Mac.  Power Mac is the nomenclature for Apple desktop machines prior to mid-2006.   Mac Pros also are desktops, but later than mid-2006.    http://www.apple.com/batteries/ covers Apple notebook batteries and other battery performance.  I've asked this thread be moved.

I am getting this error whenever I try to play its file type on my MacBook Pro,"The document “VN622195.WMA” could not be opened. The movie's file format isn't recognized."

The mac has no native way to read .wma files (these are Windows Media Audio files).  Do a search on the internet for playing wma files on a mac.  You will find several links to solution (one is to use flip4mac).

  • How are you supposed to play a photo cd on a macbook pro?

how are you supposed to play a photo cd on a macbook pro? when i put it in my drive, it says something like disk type not supported when i open up the dvd player. please tell me if theres some kind of software i have to download..please and thank you

when you insert the disk it should be in the side bar of finder. double clickt he disk and you should have some sort of file in it. I'm not sure what softwware was used to create the slideshow but if it's a movie you'll have to figure out what type of media it is. I think VLC media player will be your best bet to play this CD/dvd though.
