Playing CRAM Format

Does anyone know how to get the new QT with Leopard to play .avi with CRAM format. I know it is old, but I have files I need to be able to play from old screen vid capture software. I have tried Perian with no luck.
Any player or CODEC for QT that can play would be fine. VLC does not work either. Thank you for any help.

Believe CRAM is the fourCC for Microsoft Video 1 and is supposedly identical to the MSVC fourCC (also Microsoft Video 1). You may need to find an old Windows '95 or '98 system for playback. (Don't use such myself.)

i have installed fobs4jmf & all its codec are added in jmf registry.
also is there som multiplexer that has to be added as i am already using a demultiplexer given along with fobs4jmf.

Hi everyone, I am actually trying to make a media player using
JMF and FOBS4JMF. My problem is that I've followed all the procedures to
install fobs4JMF and it all works fine until I try to register jar files using
jmstudio. In fact, it works when i open runjmstudio.bat. The movie is played
fine, jars are correctly registered ... but when I close it and I open jmstudio
again it fails and I get the error : "Failed to realize: input media not
supported: XVID video, mpgelayer3 audio" plus codecs, demultiplexer ... are not registered anymore. In fact, it works with fobs_jmstudio.exe (the one in the fobd4jmf folder) and not with jmstudio.exe (the one in the jmf folder). When I try to add them manually into the second one, I get the error : "Could not add Item". I wonder if you had any idea of what type of problem it could be.
I've posted my problem in many forums but nobody seems to have the solution. Thanks a lot.

You can't watch any trailers at all from the purchase page, but you can play them all from the trailers page.
Your movie has completely downloaded but won't play and the tv reports it is in an unrecognised format.

I would have considered that you could have simply had your movie corrupted in some way during download if playing it was the only problem. I wouldn't have thought that the preview from the purchase/rental page would have been from the same source as the trailer page (but I could be wrong), which makes this rather strange.
Indeed. Previews on purchase page are in standard resolution and none of them play. Both HD and standard resolution cinematic trailers play no problem.
Do you have any issues playing your own content, podcasts or you tube.
I can play music, see photos, play audio and video podcasts (HD included). Youtube works too.
How is the tv connected to the internet, how is it connected to the tv.
The device is connected to the TV via HDMI cable and over wifi to internet.
Instead of just restarting it, have you tried pulling every cable from it leaving it for 30 seconds and then powering it up again.
This is exactly what I did when I restarted it.

Why can't continue play awb format file after call...

Need a help!
When I use most of S40 phone to playing awb format file,if playing be interrupt, music player can't continue to play from where it stopped.Is that normal? Or this relate awb format?
Proconditon: Had connect headset (phone support)
Step: Activate Music player to play awb format file > Answer a call or interrupt by alarm > Press play to continue play this file > The awb format file can't continue play from where it stopped, it play from begining.(others format file,like mp3,wma,can continue play)

I did take a look at the Jira issue you referenced. It suggests that the MediaPlayer be set to null in the MediaView after the last media file has been played and nullify the MediaPlayer reference. However, all this relies on GC to cleanup the resources. (In fact, the sample code in Jira shows a call to System.gc(), which, I understand, is not guaranteed to run immediately.)
All the same, I tried the suggestion, but it didn't help my situation. So I am stuck with my alternative.
It is rather disheartening that there is not a clear cut API for cleaning up media resources when you are done, instead of being dependent on GC.

QuickTime supports many different file types & codecs, but not all. In many cases you can lookup, download & install specific codecs if you need them.

Quicktime playing Windows format media

I am new to the Mac world but after having my Windows laptop stolen I decided to switch to Mac. My problem is playing media files (.wmv) in Quicktime. Is this a no win situation or does someone know what I am doing wrong. This is frustrating for the sales person said I could play the format just doesn't know how to do it.

IPOD reboots when playing AAC format material

Bought the G5 IPOD two weeks ago and everything about it is great except... it will not play any AAC formatted material. I copied my purchased iTunes music and audiobooks to the IPOD and every file causes a reboot at some random point during playback. I purchased an audiobook and ripped it to my iTunes using the current recommended rip methods (Join tracks into one session, change extentions from m3a to m3b for bookmarking capability)and if fails as well. The only way to get audiobooks or spoken word to work on the IPOD is to import in the mp3 format. Podcasts, music, photo, etc. all work as expected. Ready to return the IPOD for a refund if this can't be fixed. Is anyone else having a similar problem and if so what was done to correct it. Thanks! -JeepSc8

These are the ‘standard’ fist steps to this type of issue:
Try Resetting Your iPod to correct this problem. It may take several attempts.
If that does not solve the problem, then Restore Your iPod and put the music back on your iPod, from iTunes.
Post back if the above did not work for you.

Playing AVI Format Movie Clips?

I'm having problems when i try to play movie clips that i've shot using my digital camera.
I can save the clips onto iphoto and when i open one, it does play the actual footage but not the sound.
The other thing is that when i play each clip it opens in Quick Time which i guess is the default.
So how do i get the sound to play?

avi is a container format for a lot of different codecs, and not all of them are part of Quicktime. Installing Perian adds codecs to Quicktime and may help. Other than that, go to your camera maker's site and see if they have a codec you can download.
The other thing is that when i play each clip it opens in Quick Time which i guess is the default.
iPhoto has no ability to play videos, it simply catalogues and stores them. They are played in the QT player.
