Playing Diablo on a MAC

Problems with playing Diablo II:
have used a blizzard link to install the game with no problems, can see the "preview film", also with no problems, but then the graphics choke up and we cant play. Havent installed expansion disc as of yet - thought we would get basics going first. There are references to "patches" on the blizzard site - what are these - and do we need them too? Any help would be welcome

If you have a newer macbook/pro, then it won't run. There seems to be a problem with drivers or perhaps firmware. Blizzard (this supposedly happens with other older games as well) has spoken to apple about it and feel the ball is apple's court atm. Hopefully there will be an update that addresses this.
I'm in the same boat. I repurchased DiabloII to run on my new mbp, and have the same issue you have.

I have the Diablo III install DVD - it's both Mac & PC install.
But warning - many players (on a PC board) dislike the game & stopped playing it already...
I played thru all the chars on 'normal' and started playing the 2nd difficulty, but running away (=being chased) by enemies is NOT my style of playing a game...
Check some youTube videos & see if that's what you want to do...
The ratio of hit points (HP) for enemies is:
1. normal - 20 HP
2.nightmare - 6000 HP
3.**** - 150 000 HP
4.inferno - 1 000 000 HP
This is for the same enemy...
(I have the Diablo 3 walkthru guide).
So this game is't for me...

Diablo II on Mac

Hi, I recently decisided that I wanted to try and play Diablo II on my macbook pro, and so I checked to make sure the game was MAC compatible and it said it was on the box. So, I went and tried to install it, ut the disc in, clicked on the install icon and it opened a window, and I clicked on install and it said the game was not MAC compatible. I don't understand why that is,but I was wondering if someone might be able to tell my why, or even how to get it to install. Thanks in advance.

Download the MacOS X specific installer directly from blizzard. http://www.blizzard.com. That should solve your problem.

Diablo 2 on Mac OS X Version 10.5.2

Is there a more recent installer and patch for playing diablo 2 on a mac OS X version 10.5.2, then the one on the updates posted on 2005? None of them are working for me. I am able to download them and I get the diablo 2 icon on my computer, but when I click on it, it says it "quits unexpectedly" instantly! Maybe it's my computer (even though it's brand new)?

Should I play Diablo 3 on my MBP?

I'm relatively new to the Apple world and I have started to play Diablo 3 with a friend.
My MBP runs it almost prefectly even with the quality pushed all the way up.
However the Mac does become quite warm and I was wondering if this is a notorious problem and if it usually leads to damage?
I'm not running on pushed up settings just to keep it down a little bit but I would like to know if it's fine to push back up.

Fact - a computer under heavy load will generate a lot of heat. Items like CPUs, RAM chips and so forth are designed to operate at quite high temperatures (your MBP's Intel CPU's are designed with a maximum on-die operating temperature of 100C).
Your MBP has a cooling system designed to deal with the heat generated up to its maximum load capability. If, for some reason, the cooling system is not able to maintain a safe operating temperature, your machine will automatically shutdown to prevent damage.
Make sure to use it in a setting with good air flow around it (elevate it a bit if possible to allow better airflow under it). As long as it is running without shutting down or generating errors, you are fine.

MacBook Pro getting extremely hot playing Diablo 3

Hello, is it normal my Mac (mid 2014), i5 + 8 gigs of ram to become EXTREMELY hot when playing Diablo 3 ? It literally blows extremely hot air from the little holes that are near by the folding mechanism. I mean 1)I guess that is not good for the Mac 2) it is very bad for the part of the display that gets the hot air. So is there anything I can do to stop this ?

Ah, well I'm away from home at the moment so no DVD.
However, it is the UK trading standards act that tells me that any product is supposed to last without fault a reasonable time, based on the amount you paid for. So a £10 toaster isn't exactly good for 3 years, but a £1,000 Macbook Pro would be expected to last more than a year.
At the moment, the way this is going, I'm seriously damaging my CPU lifespan, it's constantly at 70c, the fan is constantly spinning, and the battery is constantly draining. I had 1 tab open on Firefox 4, it was a forum, with no ads, no flash, just text and basic pictures and my CPU is 70C.
So I think something is wrong with my Macbook.
I'm going to ring up Trading standards, get them to advise me what to do, then ring up Apple and tell them from the get go that I know my rights as a UK customer and that I expect a repair, replacement (of equal or greater value) or a refund. Either would be good.

When I try to sync my iPhone 4s it no longer works. I have a bunch of songs that now show up on my iPhone with a red circle with a box inside of it and they won't play, yet I can find them and play them on my Mac. What do I do?

My iphone 4s will no longer sync music from my music library on my Macbook Pro. I also have a bunch of songs that now have a red circle with a box in it next to the song on my phone and those songs will not play. They are present in my itunes library and I can play them on my Mac but they will not play on my iphone. I have tried unchecking all the music and applying those changes and syncing and it does nothing. All the same music remains on my phone, unchanged. Help! What do I do? I have read to uninstall iTunes and reinstall it but will I lose all my music?

DVDPlayer not recognizing DVD. I have an IMAC (10.7.4) using DVDPlayer (vers. 5500.26.11) and will not recognize/play a dvd movie...it thinks it is a blank dvd. The dvd movie plays fine on my Mac Book Pro (10.6.8) on the Pro's DVDPlayer (vers.5.4).

When the DVD is in the drive (and DVD players is open) click on File>get disk info.

Has anyone heard or tried an app called Vilisoft? I read good things but I am not sure if it will do what I want.

Then use multipel 99 picture slideshows.
You can have up to 8 or 9 slideshows per menu. If you add a sub menu reduce that by 1 and add 8 more to the sub menu. The top menu can have links to up to 8 or so submenus (depends on the theme) and each submenu can have up to 8 or so slideshows.
However, converting a very large slideshow to a QT movie as Terence suggested does not envoke the 99 slide limit in iDVD. It just becomes a single video/movie file. So you should not have a problem with exporting at the large size, 720 x 540,
and dragging the resulting file into the iDVD menu being sure to avoid any drop zones.

stevie, a third party app called airparrot will give you the pretty much the same as mirroring and forks on Macs too old to mirror.

Adobe Muse with Edge Animate components plays great on the Mac but images don't show in Windows. Any suggestions?

You're in luck! We just added in a feature to the latest version of Edge Animate CC (3.0) to enable the CDN option for OAM publish (what we call the "Animate Deployment Package"). This means that your Animate compositions can now references jQuery and the Animate runtime from the network instead of from the project directory. (Please note that this will only make sense for Dreamweaver and Muse integration with OAM and won't make sense for InDesign.)
To turn this on, launch Animate and go to File > Publish Settings. Then select the Animate Deployment Package on the left and click "Host runtime files on Adobe CDN." Save and publish, and you should be good to go.
