Playing DVD Audio disk in iTunes

I am running iTunes v 7.0 for Windows. When I load my DVD audio disk in my PC, it doesn't appear in iTunes. Can iTunes play such disks? If so, can anyone tell me how to do please? Thanks.

  • Playing DVD-Audios with an MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum

I have a system built around an MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum motherboard.  I'm using the motherboard's onboard sound, and I have it connected to a 5.1 speaker system.  Using WinDVD 6 Platinum, I can play regular DVDs just fine, with awesome surround sound.  However, when I try to play DVD-Audios, I only get stereo sound.  Anyone have any suggestions?
    A.J.

DVD video sound format AC3 5.1 and DVD-Audio sound format is not the same .
DVD-Audio disks has also a video AC3 5.1 track and stereo track , set yor sw player to use AC3 and see if it helps.
E.g a soundblaster Audigy ZE , or X-FI can render DVD-Audio , but not the onboard sound on Neo4.

  • How to play dvd-audio or dvd-a discs on iMac?

How do I go about playing dvd-audio encoded discs on my iMac? I have been unsuccessful in finding a decoder that will recognize this format. I don't want to invest in ripper software unless I KNOW it will read and convert this format. Many thanks.

I can play my DVD Audio discs on my MacBook Pro. On all my DVD Audio discs it shows DVD Audio and Dolby Digital. When I insert a DVD Audio disc the DVD player opens and plays the disc. Rou will only get Dolby Digital sound quality though and not DVD Audio sound quality.

  • Audigy 2 ZS Platinum - Can't Play DVD-Audio Di

    Please help!
I have a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum set up. Everything about the card works great - with one exception: the only DVD-Audio disc I can play using the Creative MediaSource DVD-Audio Player is the demo DVD-audio disc that came with the card!
I have tried playing a couple of DVD-Audio discs that I bought, but I can't hear anything.
Is there anything I can do about this?

First is to set the Recording device to MIC2. The front panel device is considered the second microphone. Basically whatever program you use, I would assume it has to recognize this second microphone. Make sure you ahve it selected under the sound mixer (task bar Icon) "Line in 2/Mic 2" underneath "REC" on far right side. Then you can go from there.
    |)O( Try this, if not use the old Hamer to Front of PC method, lol.

  • Playing/Importing Audio CDs on iTunes

For some reason, I have had iTunes for 4 months and it has yet to be able to recognize an audio CD, play it or import songs from it. Can anyone help me? E-mail me at [email protected] Thank you!

    Hello Steve,
When you click on the song that is on your desktop, it is not coming from where iTunes stores the music and therefore imports the song every time. iTunes typically keeps your entire library organized and copies the song to your Music folder. If you want to stop that, you can either open iTunes, find the song to play or you can use Spotlight search the songs to open. I would make sure that the song is removed from your desktop before you search.

  • How to play DVD-Audio with Mac mini?

I tried to search the forums but didn't find any answers...
Mini is my only machine on living room I'm using for music, videos etc.
Apple's DVD Player won't even open the disc, but says it's "invalid format".
VLC does open the disc, but only outputs 2ch stereo in dolby surround I think.
I have an DVD-A disc with DTS 6.1 ES mix.
    Thank you for any help!

Got a partial solution by ripping the DVD with MactheRipper and then opening with Apple's DVD Player. This of course means that I have to burn a copy or keep the ripped version on my hard disk...

  • Audigy2 ZS DVD-Audio Probl

I have just installed my audigy 2zs sound card. I have figured out and fixed the assorted bugs except one. I am having trouble getting DVD-Audio disks that have CMMP encryption to play. I have been to this forum and others like it and it seems that either windvd or the creative have a problem with the CMMP encryption.
Has anyone found a fix for this?
Those that are able to play dvd-audio disks what dvd dri've are you using?
I currently have two different dri'ves that I have tried it on to no avail.
    NEC ND-3520A
    Lite-On SOHD-67T
I have also tried a different software DVD player, PowerDVD, it didn?t work either but it reported that it could find the CMMP keys and then went and played the Dolby Digital part of the disk.
I would appreciate any insight into fixing this problem.

Hey , maybe a silly idea , but did you try it with another DVD-rom/ram. (oops you already did that)
    This because with my older Asus E66(not the p & p2) i'd also a won't play encrypted dvd-a (won't even read , get a 0MB disk). I've solved it by bying a new DVD-rtom(they ain't that expensi've nowadays) and i can play DVD-A perfectly.
I play them with the Creative DVD-Audio player. But when i want to make copies i use PowerDVD6, and record from what you hear , because with creative DVD-A player it's impossible to record from encrypted DVD-A.
I'm so satisfied about DVD-A , that i boycot SACD already, LOL DVD-AS offers much more , but it's more expensi've for record companies to make , so they prefer SACD , but we want ... MORE
My DVD-A on my original Creative software and PowerDVD6 :
    REM-Automatic for the people.
Iron Maiden-Dances Of Death (88KHz !!!! kicks asses)
    Gary Numan-Anthology
    The Crystal Method-Legion Of Boom
    Linkin Park-Reanimation
lol and the Creative DVD-Audio Sampler Disc , with o so decent music
But here in Holland they're hard to find but there're about 600 DVD-A titles , record companies wants us on the SACD , but i want DVD-A, i'll never by a CD-Audio again, 2channels = like mono , i want da 6 channels with real sample rate Message Edited by www_96KHz_tk on 03-02-2005 03:59 PM

  • DVD-Audio Pla

Hi?I have a XtremeMusic card, with the latest drivers installed (and yes I also have the Digiatla i/o problem after rebbot). The problem is I installed the DVD-Audio player. The player plays but there is no sound, if I use the mouse to move along the track I then get sound until I stop moving the mouse. I can play the same Audio-dvd in PowerDVD v7. The dvd is one of the new released REM cds, that include a dvd of the cd in 5. surround sound. So what is the problem with the Creative DVD-Audio player, if on the same hardware other programs can play the audio. I usually don't like having too many programs installed that offer the same feautes, but i just wanted to try out the player, and it should work. I am getting annoyed at the poor quality of the software, I keep on emailing support and all I seem to get are automatted responses with no solutions to my problems.

Are you using digital speakers? If so, then you will need to switch to the analog outputs for a true DVD-Audio output. The DVD-Audio standard does not allow for digital output and forces analog.
Your PowerDVD may be picking up a Dolby Digital or other such encoded copy of the music. Many hybrid DVD-Audio disks contain both. True DVD-Audio is not compressed at all and is 6-8 channels of unencoded audio.

  • DVD-A tracks to iTunes...

    hi guys
some friends gave me a couple of DVD-A & i would like to extract the audio to get into my iTunes library...i've looked around for suitable software but couldn't really find anything. could anyone point me in the right direction ? many thanks
    Nuno

If these disks are copy-protected, as many DVD Audio disks are, then breaking the copy protection is illegal here in the US so we are not allowed to discuss such matters here even though it may be perfectly legal in Portugal. Sorry, but you'll have to look elsewhere for assistance beyond this option: you can use a utility such as Audio Hijack or Wiretap to capture the output of DVD Player and save the captured audio in a format that iTunes can import. Since that method doesn't break the copy protection, it's not illegal.
    Regards.

Hi, I'm having the same problems with playing dvd-audio as others have experienced, the greyed out play button, recognized tracks and durations but no progres in the creative player and windvd, powerdvd plays stereo only. I st noticed this after updating to the newest drivers. I've tryed re-installing everything in every way but had no luck. Has anybody came up with a solution to this yet? Hi pmhs teacher:
    Welcome to discussions!
If the audio is out of sync on the DVD, do this:
    http://www.danslagle.com/mac/iMovie/audio/1001.shtml
If the audio from another movie is playing on the DVD, then do this:
When I burn a DVD, the audio that was used in my slideshow, and played correctly in 'Preview' isn't the audio that plays on the completed DVD. What am I doing wrong?

  • DVD-Audio Player - Please H

I installed Vista, and unfortunately lost the ability to play DVD-Audio. I have been following a lot of threads and information on the net, but I am still unable to play them.
+ PowerDVD and WinDVD: I cannot play DVD-Audios with CPPM encryption.
+ I used to play all my DVD-Audio with Creative's DVD-Audio player using Xp. I read that it is possible to install it in Vista. I follow the instructions (Run as Administrator, XP/SP2 compatability mode), but I get a -6003 InstallShield error.
    Can anyone help me?

    MiG_Anubis wrote:
If I try to install it this way I get the error "I-00".
If you get this error, it means some needed files are missing. So what to do?Go to the Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information folder and try to find the subfolder of the failed installation. We need to read the fileINSTALL.LOG from that folder and see which files are actually missing. (Alternati'vely you can search for that file and select the one with the latest date, assuming you try this exactly after the failed installation attempt)?Usually the missing files are called CTShared, which is the folder containing them. You can find this folder in the root of your original CD, just copy it in the folder where your run your Installation from. Offcourse it could be other files as well, but the procedure is the same.
PS:? For the first part, you will need to make sure you configured Explorer to show ALL hidden and system files.

  • DVD Audio Player - Where is

I am using an Audigy 4 card with Windows XP Pro SP2 and I cannot for the life of me locate the MediaSource DVD Audio Player. The Creative site has the MediaSource Player, Organizer, and Converter, as well as an update to the DVD Audio player, but it does not have the DVD-A player itself. Also, the installation CD that came with my card has every component of the MediaSource package except the DVD Audio player.
The Creative product page for the Audigy 4 confirms that the card is capable of DVD Audio playback, and the update for the DVD Audio Player on the driver page suggests I should somehow already have the player. The only way I can think of acquiring the software is by downloading installation CDs for other Soundblaster cards, but this isn't really a route I want to take. Does anyone have any ideas as to where I can find the MediaSource DVD Audio Player? Any help would be appreciated.

I downloaded the Audigy 4, 4 Pro, and 2 ZS install discs and performed the full MediaSource installation with each. Still, the MediaSource DVD Audio Player is not listed in MediaSource Go!, in the start menu, or in the MediaSource folder. Furthermore I've run a series of searches on my hard dri'ves to be absolutely sure the DVD Audio Player isn't installed and just hidden away somewhere.
I did manage to find MediaSource DVD-A Player installer elsewhere, but it refused to install. It gave the same message as I get with the DVD-A update currently on the Creative drivers page, saying that the required components were not detected. I assume this installer was looking for Audigy 2 drivers, while the DVD-A updater was looking for the DVD-Audio player which isn't there.
I've tried InterVideo WinDVD for playing DVD Audio, but it is not fully functional. If I disable 96/24 decoding, I can play the stereo tracks, but I just get silence on the 5. tracks. With the 96/24 decoding enabled, I get a lot of noise with the desired music slightly audible. I am using the analog connections from my Audigy 4 card.
My card itself is an OEM Audigy 4 SE. I don't think the card differs from the normal retail version other than that it doesn't come with a box or a remote, but I could be wrong. Still, it is listed as being capable of playing DVD-Audio, and comes with the same installation CD as the normal Audigy 4. The information about the card can be found here:
    http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=7936&vpn=30SB06000000&manufacture=Cr eative%20Labs
All I want to do is to be able to play DVD Audio discs without having to purchase any additional software to do so. I would like simply to have the Creative MediaSource DVD Audio player installed on my computer. This should not be at all difficult to accomplish, yet all I've gotten in my attempts so far is aggravation.
Again, any feedback would be very much appreciated.
Edit: Here's the ID of my sound card in the Device Manager

  • Problems Playing DVD Au

    Hi There,
I've just got an Audigy 2 ZS for my setup and I'm having problems when playing DVD Audio.
The track will play perfectly fine for a few seconds, and then there will be some sqeaking/funny sound and the HDD light will light up...the position in seconds of the DVD audio player will also halt..until the track sound continues to play again, and the seconds will continue counting
this does lead to crashing of my system and it is the same for both the DVD audio disc, and when playing the sample DVD Audio file on the welcome menu
There are no problems with playback of AudioCD's, mp3's and no problems during a short test on World of Warcraft.
Has anyone experienced the same problems or know any work arounds? I have reinstalled the drivers on the cd twice already
my setup is Athlon XP 2700+
    Asus A7N8X-E Nforce2
    GB Geil Ultra Platinum PC3200
    ATI Radeon 9700 Pro

I have concluded that the creative software just plain sucks. It doesn't buffer correctly, but other programs do. I tried Intervideo WinDVD 6.0 and it's handling it beautifully. AT 96Khz 24-bit as well! Not a single hiccup. If you have dri'ves that are fast enough, and the cards that support it . . .
I doubt it's your computer, but just that the creative DVD audio player isn't written well enough to either support the hardware you have . . . or to work at all! (I wouldn't know if it works, because I haven't seen it work, but you'd think it would, or they would have fixed it.)
So, if you're dying to hear the DVD audio, I'd say try out some other software DVD players, see what they can do for you.
and I would challenge Creative to fix this problem! Don't advertise a feature, and then not fully implement it! (true, the driver interface is there, but giving us crap software is worse than not giving software at all. We'll think it won't ever work, even if it does!)

    Amen Brother,
I'm having the same problems. I've downloaded the installations and applications CD three times. I've tried the SID72 twice. Another freaky problem I'm having is the Creative Diagnostics screen won't show me or give me access to the next button or if I click diagnose it takes me to the next screen and says to click on the start test button...but guess what? There is ne f'in click next button! If anyone out there have an answer please drop me a line. What ever happened to plug and play?

  • Audio drop out while playing DVD

I import a quick time file from Final Cut Pro into DVD Studio Pro. I burn my DVD and it plays just fine in my MacPro. However, when I play it in my home DVD player (and other people's home DVD player), the audio drops real low when there are not two channels of audio playing.
For example . . . At the start of the piece when just music is playing, the audio levels are real low. But when the voice track comes in, all audio channels come up to their normal level.
I would love any assistance with this problem. Thanks!

I too have been experiencing this problem recently. It does sound like my hard drive is falling a sleep and then has to start up again every few minutes. I'm running the latest version of iTunes and have a 300GB internal hardrive in my G4 Tower running the latest 10.4 OS. I though it was an energy saver issue and turned off "put hard disk to sleep" as well as turned off the screen save and everything else. Not ideal but am in the process of testing it to see if it's related.
    Strange this would happen.
