Playing GoPro Video 120fps - defaults in slow motion

Is there a way to change the speed of play in Photos?  My GoPro videos that I took at 120fps are played in slow motion by default and I can't figure out how to change it to play at normal speed.  Ideas?

With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a solution.  We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
is this when you play the video in iPhoto? Yes
what version of iPhoto are you using? The latest
what system version are you running? The latest
where is the video from? Camera
does it play correctly if played outside of iPhoto with Quicktime Player? No
what fixes have you tried? Running Quicktime which shows Slo-mo; unchecking it and then saving it
where is your library located? On my startup drive in my docs
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring? No
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library? Don't know; do not have this screen in iPhoto
what type of Mac? Mac Pro
how much free space on your boot drive? 200 GB

When I click on a link within a site (MSN) to play a new story the video runs in slow motion. This started to happen suddenly. I have tried to refresh Firefox and updating some add-ons but still have the same problem. What can I do to fix it. When I try it in IE it works fine but not in Firefox. Help!

  • Video controls in Aperture: slow motion? 1/4 speed? Reverse?

Hi.  I don't use Aperture for video, but might.  My search of the User Manual and the forum turned up nothing.  Is there any way to play a video in Aperture in slow-motion?  At any speed but normal?  In Reverse?
    Thanks.

    I don't believe so.
Video in Aperture is  extremely limited. Apart from trimming the length of the clip there is't much else you can do with it.  I think it's meant mostly as a place to store the clips and integrate them with your stills. For any real video work you need to export to a real video editor.

Right click one of yur clips in the event browser and choose Transcode Media. Make a test project and playthat clip. See whether that solves your lag.

  • How do 1990's stand. def digitally shot videos have such good slow motion?

So I have some older 1990s sporting videos on vhs that I am pretty sure were shot digitally, and they are 4;3 aspect ratio, but my questions is, most of the video is shot in slow motion, and it is soooo smooth and slow, I mean almost as slow as my 60p HD stuff I can shoot on my EX1. Were they shooting 60p in the early 90s or is that software just doing a good job of slowing it down?
    Thank you.

it is a motorcycle video. couldn't have cost that much to shoot.
What makes you think that? (Hint: I shoot a lot of pro motorcycle racing stuff).
I doubt it was film. no film grain or anything...
You would have a tough time discerning film grain on a VHS tape's 240 lines of resolution.

  • Flash player plays online video and games extremely slow

I had my pc reformatted two days ago  but prior to that I never had problems like this. playing streaming videos and games gives me extreme pain! especially watching videos on youtube, the video loads fast but it plays like in slow motion and almost frame by frame, so I waited for the video to load completely but when I played it, it's still the same it was annoyingly slow and the play buttonl sometimes is not responding! I install and reinstall the latest version of flash but nothing happened I used IE8 and Mozilla Firefox 3 but both have problems.... but when playing games and videos saved on my hard disk all is very much fine, it plays fast and no fuzz. I also noticed that  sites that uses flash also have lags and plays animations slow... I need help badly! Im using windows xp, pentium 4, 2.80 ghz, 512ram and nvidia geForce 7300 SE / 7200 GS internet connection is 100.0mbps dsl connection, I still have 30gb free space on c: so I wonder why is it like that!  Please help!

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

  • How about using a 60fps video for a smooth slow motion effect in a 30fps project ?

    Hey all,
I happen to have a video camera that is able to shoot either in 720p/60fps or 720p/30fps.
As you guessed it, 60 fps mode is very useful for action sports when you want to do some slow motion effect running very smoothly.
I have few questions I would love to be answered, and I was not able to find answers till now.
    Here they are :
1/ If I want my final video file to be, let's say, 25 fps, is it mandatory that my project is 25 fps too ?
What will happen if I do a 30fps project and that I export to a 25fps file ? Does Premiere simply remove some extra frames ? Or will it lead to a longer video ? What consequence on the final result if frames are removed ? I mean, will I be able to see any difference or will the difference remain theorical ?
2/ Let's say I have both 30fps and 60fps videos. I set my project to 30fps. If I import my 60fps video to the timeline, it will be adjusted to 30fps and some frames disappear to keep the duration the same. Okay, this is clear to me.
But now, what if I import my 60fps to the timeline, but set the speed to 50% ? Will Premiere apply the 50% to the original file (therefore I should have all the frames displayed on the timeline : 60/2=30 fps), or to the 30fps-adjusted file of the timeline, leading to some jerky footage?
3/ If I want to use my 60fps for slow motion purpose in my 30fps project, would it be a good idea to right-click on this file in the project windows, going to the "modify" menu to set the image frequency to 30fps ?
Because while doing so, if I drag the file to the timeline, I noticed it would last 2 times longer (resulting in a slow motion video) Does that mean that ALL the frames of the original video are displayed ? Can someone tell me what exactly does Premiere ?
I would be very grateful if someone could tell me what are the correct settings to chose in order to realise the best slow motion videos as possible.
    Thanks in advance !

With due respect... this does not answer my question and does not help me that much , but anyway, thank you for the very constructive answer ^^.
I'm not sure I would even have considered doing this by myself...
I hope I do not get this kind of answer because you feel like my question was silly or unpolite... To my mind this was a pretty serious question.
Shooternz, next time you need to go 150 km far away from where you are, go by feet rather than with a car, I'm sure you will have plenty of satisfaction too. Just cross the fingers for you not to be in a hurry while it's raining outside.
Well, I may be naive but i thought some experts already had the answer to this (I guess I'm not the only one who intend to do some slo mo), and would have been kind enough to share this knowledge with me. That's what sometimes happens in communities.
Please note I do not intend others to do the job for me, I'm just asking if someone already knows the answer.
I asked this question because I couldn't find any documentation about this, and I guess asking on internet was the next step, as testing would be like the last resort, being very time consuming.
It was easy to check the effect of dragging a file to the timeline to see if it played normally or not, but it's definitely not to count and compare each frame of some sample file to find if some are lacking, or have been doubled or what....
I assume I would be very happy with just a simple theorical answer either...
So once again, if someone already has been into such questions, I would really pleased him or her to share or report what they experienced. Thanks in advance.

  • How do I view a video on iPhoto in slow motion

Is there an easy way to view a video in slow motion imported from either an i-phone or camera?  I have no problem viewing the video I just want to slow it down to see the action.  Thanks.

In iPhoto or your iPhone or on a Mac?
On your Mac you could install QuickTime Player 7. This lets you step a movie using the arrow keys (in slideshow mode) or play the movie at half the speed.

  • Video shot specifically for Slow Motion playback

I thought I might try starting a thread for sharing video shot specifically for the purpose of playing it back in slow motion. For the first example, I shot this flag flying on a perfectly clear day. We have had a lot of really clear blue days lately much to my delight.
My Panasonic DMC-GH3 can shoot 1920X1080 at 60 (59.94) frames per second. That is frames, not fields. So interpreted at 29.97 frames per second it plays half speed. This was taken a step farther and played back at 24p. So if my math is correct, it is playing at 40% (close enough).
Funny, but the camera actually has a setting to shoot video to play back at 40% but it seems redundant to me. Perhaps if the video was never going to be edited, just played back, that could come in handy.
I used a recording from the US Army Band because I was in the Army and I am just used to hearing it played by the Army Band. I thought of adding the lyrics since I really like them. All four verses. I just didn't have enough footage to do it right and I love the sunshine and blue skies. So here is a link to the four verses for those who want to play the video four times and sing along. Nobody? Are you sure? I did it. Couldn't help it.
I am probably going to put up a couple more copies. One with the Pledge of Allegiance and one with the first verse of the National Anthem.  In the meantime, I am enjoying all that blue sky.
If your camera can shoot at a higher frame rate to play back at 24p, please post some examples.  If you are particularly good at using Premiere Pro to modify the playback speed of video, let's see what you've got.
The camera was siting on a GorillaPod shooting at approximately a 30 degree angle. The lens was my 100-300 set for 183mm, the equivalent of 355mm on a 35mm camera.
ISO 200. This video has not been modified in any way other than interpreting it to play at 24 frames per second, to trim off the beginning and the end (to eliminate the shaky setup and take down of the shot), and I also added cross-dissolve transitions at the beginning and the end. No color correction of any kind and no stabilization. This is what the camera saw.
I really love the flag of the United States. If you live in the United States I hope you do too. Today is Washington's Birthday. So Happy Birthday to the Father of our country. Our first President. This is my present to our founding fathers on this day, and I chuckle to think about how shocked they might be at the number of stars on the flag, and I am sad when I think how mad they would be if they knew how far we have strayed from the principles they fought and died for.
(I'll bet old Ben Franklin would love the Internet though.)

Steve, regarding my request getting inside flag and changing shutter speed etc..
I have to admit right off that I don't understand this myself as I should...and I don't have a motion pic camera OR the DSLR ....which I can get in April ...at which time I will be off to the races trying to figure out how to use it.
But the gist of what I was getting at ( though hazy and not understood by me ) I'll try to explain...
Motion pic film cameras with the mechanical gizmo that pulls down the film ( frame by frame ) have a rotating shutter ( the gizmo is typically called a mitchel movement I think ). The rotating shutter has a mirro on the back side which allows a person to 'see' via some magic stuff ( prism ? ) what is in the frame ( eyepiece ). I guess it's similar to a SLR mirror but this one spins.
This is what it looks like
So, a normal setting for that shutter is 180 degrees... and it spins so that each frame gets 'exposed' by the open part of the shutter. Then when the shutter is spun to the closed side ( no light getting to film frame ) the 'next frame of film' is dragged down into place to be exposed. So that happens typically 24 times per second.  It is pretty fast.
Some motion pic cameras can shoot even FASTER ( amazingly )...and you can therefore increase the FPS. Then as you know when it's played back at 24 FPS in projector, it looks like slower motion.
Unfortunately if the FPS is increased the 180 degree shutter may not be letting in enough light to get a good exposure anymore... so that shutter can be adjusted ( called the shutter angle ).
So a 45 degree shutter would let a lot more light hit the film ...cause it lets more light through its rotation time.  This is the part where I can totally confused....and hopefully I'll learn more when I get the DSLR how this is handled with modern digital camera.
Cause, if you let more light hit the film by adjusting film motion pic shutter it stands to reason there will more " blur " from the longer exposure. However, this is offset by the faster FPS speed... so this is why I am curious about it...
As a point of fact motion pic cameras can be synchd to CRT screens using a mechanism that times the shutter to coincide with the horizontal 'lines' of the CRT ( timing of frames of interlaced signal )... and the shutter has many 'angles' it can be adjusted to ..
So, anyway, I guess this is something to explore when I get that DSLR...
I was thinking it might look cool to have slo mo with more 'blur' to make something look a little ghost like...kinda like my flag picture with time exposure...
    crazy idea...

  • HELP - Make video clip go in slow motion?

I can't seem how to make part of my video go in slow motion, I've tried looking for tutorials everywhere and it won't tell me how.
    Please help!!
    I use iMovie '11

Drag the clip that you want to adjust from the Event to a Project.
If it is already in the Project, start here.
There should be a small gear icon on the clip in the project. Click it to open the Clip Inspector.
Go to the Clip tab of the inspector. Here you can select your speed adjustment from 12.5% to 800% (I think).

  • How do i get my video to work in slow motion or sped up?

I'm trying to use iMovie on my iPad to play/post movies online (i.e. FB, YouTube). So how do I speed up my videos or slow them down (editing) prior to posting? I've researched with iMovie for said information but have been unsuccessful in finding any resolutions...Any advice would be most appreciated!

GET A SIM CARD FROM AN AUSTRALIAN CARRIER.
AND IT WILL NOT WORK WITH 4G IN AUSTRALIA. IT WILL BE 3G.

  • Play slow motion videos recorded with an iPhone on a Mac

    Hi!
I have the following problem. Yesterday I was recording some videos with my iPhone, some of that videos were recorded on slow motion (120 and 240 fps). Today I download that videos to my Mac but I have a problem. When I play the videos with VLC I see it normally, not in slow motion. So, how can I see it in slow motion? Doing some tests I saw that the video it's always follow for an .AAE file. Is there any way to have this two files in one?
    Thank

  • Music puts video in slow motion

I love the fact that I can get online here and seek help. IT has always helped me before-so hopefully I will get lucky now. I am using Imovie 9-- am new user and so far have learned how to use it-compared to the later versions-- a few learning curves but not bad.
My problem is when I import a sound effect or music clip- the video portion goes into slow motion. Quite simply- when I remove the sound effect-it resumes to regular speed? what am I doing wrong or how to I just add the music and have the video play as is?
    THanks so much!

There is no output when I start smplayer from the console. In vlc there is no problem. In smplayer the video playback slows down when I maximize the window using maximize button of the window itself. When I resize the window to its maximum manually or use the full screen button of smplayer, then there is no problem. It appears to be a problem with smplayer, because in mplayer there is no problem when I maximize with the window using the maximize button.
I tried nvidia-304xx yesterday, but that didn't help.

  • Slight slow-motion for music video with Canon 6D

    Hello.
I'm wondering how I should capture and edit my video to get slight slow-motion in a music video I'm creating. Obviously I would need a proportionally sped up track, like 120%. That I can do.
The question is, what frame rates should I be using? Shouldn't it matematically fit? Like capturing in 29.97 FPS with ~120% track and editing in 25 FPS. How can I do this so the result is perfectly smooth?

Warning: You're going to get lots of contradictory answers because I (we) love to offer advice on projects where my (our) money and time are not at risk. That's part of the elitist attitude around here.
Is it best to shoot green/blue screen, or shoot high contrast footage, make into B & W and use the luma key? <</div>
I'd plan on shooting on a chromakey stage. If you shoot on white cyc, you are stuck with the white. If you shoot on a properly lit key stage, you can do anything. This depends on your ability to shoot on a suitable format and use a crew that knows how to light a key stage. You need a really good camera and good tape format. DV is out of the question.
Use FCP or AE? If AE any other way than the Animation codec for preserving transparency?< </div>
Why do you want to use something other than Animation? You can use a proprietary codec system that supports alpha but you did not mention access to specific cards.
    Can AE's keylight be used with B & W footage? <</div>
Dunno, try the AE forum at adobe.com.
Is there a kaleidoscope filter for FCP? I know motion has a good one.< </div>
You're not going to be doing your effects in FCP.
