Playing home videos on ipod

I would like to know how to play videos that i made on my Cannon A80 on my ipod. I have been messing with it all day and can not figure it out. It is really starting to iritate me. Is it possible at all? I read some other posts but they were of no help. The videos I have are in AVI format. The most current version of iTunes is not even allowing me to add to the library let alone convert it. Someone please help me. Here or through my email at [email protected]
thanks in advance

Modify your work flow. Use an intermediate player/converter to either change files directly to an iPod compatible (MPEG4/AAC or H.264/AAC) format or convert them to a QT comatible format so they can be added to your iTunes Library. (First option would likely save time.) You might try MPEG Streamclip (http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-win.html) as a free alternative to Videora.

Can I play home video on my ipod touch?

So, the only way to watch home video in ipod touch is via itunes? Because in fact i'm trying to use my ipod touch as a video monitor for my DSLR camera while i use it for filming. I thought i could use the hdmi adapter for ipod touch, but everyone tells me that it might not be possible, so i wont buy it without knowing if it is possible or not. I wonder if it is phisicaly possible, so all we would need for that is someone to develop a softare to use the hdmi adapter to watch a video into an ipod. I say this because my camera has a hdmi video out, but it could be with simple RCA cables too. Someone think it is possible?

  • No audio when playing YOUTUBE videos on ipod touch via a docking station

Hi there, when my ipod touch is docked on its docking station, it will not play audio on youtube videos, it will play the video but not the audio through the docking station speaker. It used to play audio without problems before, but recently it has stopped. When i take the ipod touch off the docking station the audio on the youtube video returns. any ideas why this has happened? it plays the youtube audio through the head phones too, i can play all other audio through the docking station speakers with out a problem.

There are no setting to change on the iPod.
Have you updated either the firmware on the car or on the iPod since they last played in the car?
    This may work:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Playing Home Videos from iTunes

    Gday All,
We are new to Apple TV and are still working through exactly what we can and can't do. We have several Macs in the house and 1 PC all with iTunes 9 installed. The Apple TV can see all the shared libraries (ie the computers running iTunes) and we have been able to play music from iTunes using the Apple TV as the 'output' device.
I would like to know if it is possible to create movies (like home movies from a video camera) and import them into iTunes so that they can be played on the Apple TV. Basically this question came about because my daughter recently took some video while on holidays and thought that if she put them into the movies folder in iTunes she should be able to play them via Apple TV on our plasma TV. Unfortunately Apple TV doesn't even see the videos.
Does anyone know how to do this?

Yes you can watch home video on the tv. Your video needs to be in the correct format which is:
    Video formats supported
H.264 and protected H.264 (from iTunes Store): Up to 5 Mbps, Progressive Main Profile (CAVLC) with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps (maximum resolution: 1280 by 720 pixels at 24 fps, 960 by 540 pixels at 30 fps) in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
iTunes Store purchased video: 320 by 240 pixels, 640 by 480 pixels, 720 by 480 pixels (anamorphic), or high-definition 720p
MPEG-4: Up to 3 Mbps, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps (maximum resolution: 720 by 432 pixels at 30 fps) in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats
If the video file is imported into itunes, you are pretty much well on the way. Ensure that after adding the file to itunes that it is tagged properly (ie as a movie) and that the library has been synced. If the video still cannot be seen or played by the tv, select 'convert selection for apple tv from the advanced menu.
If this doesn't work, you may need a third party conversion tool, but try the above first and we'll take it from there.

  • Loading home video to IPOD

Does anybody know if you can take a home video/DVD and put it on your IPOD, if so,...HOW? Thanks!

Look elsewhere (via the search at the right).
MPEG-2 component and MPEG Streamclip are what you need.

  • Putting Home Video On Ipod with Video...

How do you put your own video onto your ipod? I keep trying but just can't figure it out! Help!

You need to use a converter to convert the home video from its current format to the format recognized by the 5G Video. I currently use Videora iPod Converter and it works perfectly fine for me. Use Google to find the location of this. Once done, you add file to library and goto Videora's Video folder and select your home video. You can now drag it to your iPod. Remember that the iPod uses mp4 (mpeg4) as its recognized video format.

  • Playing Own Videos on Ipod Classic?

Hey, I was just wondering if it is possible to play a video that is on my computer from like a camera or something. Is that possible? Let me know please!

If you use iTunes I believe it imports it automatically. I have used Videora (free) for home movies made on a Sony Cybershot and it works. You just have to drag it to iTunes and you may have to fiddle with the "get info" tab to direct it to the place you want it to appear.

  • Playing Home Videos on Apple TV

    Hi,
I have a few movies on my laptop in .mp4 format which I can easily watch on iTunes on my laptop. I recently purchased Apple TV 3 and tried to play those videos via airplay with no success. I tried plying the video file on my laptop iTunes and then selecting airplay to have the output as Apple TV but the spinning busy logo just appears before my request times out, and then I tried directly playing the video using the apple TV remote and going into Home Videos but once again, all I receive is the spinning icon.
So using HandBrake I converted the file, firstly by selecting the Preset function and then Apple TV 3. The m4v file has finally downloaded and I have added this to iTunes. It plays fine on my laptop but when I try to play it on Apple TV I get the same issues.
Occasionally when I watch the video via iTunes and the select airplay, the last video still appears on the TV but nothing further plays and a spinning busy icon remains in the bottom left.
Should I change the HandBrake preset function or am I doing something else wrong?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi griff,
Thanks for taking the time to look at my query. Unfortunately the troubleshoot didn't help.
As mentioned, the video plays fine in iTunes on the mac and the AirPlay option is always there, but when I select the Apple TV option it just goes straight to a loading screen and then after two minutes the Apple TV screen goes back to the menu as the request times out. My mac's iTunes is completely up to date, as is the software on the Apple TV.
I have tried a variety of video files, all of them work on iTunes and half of them I have used Handbrake to attain Apple TV and Apple TV 3 friendly versions - but Apple TV just cannot play them.
Do you have any other suggestions I could perhaps try?
    Cheers

  • Home video on ipod nano will not download to itunes

I took several home videos on my ipod nano under "video camera" and when I try to sync to itunes, they are not showing up. I have an older ipod nano ((the tall one, not the  newer version.)) Any suggestions to get these videos downloaded to my computer??? I have a project for school and need them desperately....
    Thanks!!!!!

    Hello Ben
My suggestion would be to try and put the iPod Nano into Disk Mode and then go forward with the restoring the iPod Nano. This should make the iPod Nano be recognized in iTunes.

  • Can't play home videos made on ipod touch 4g  through apple tv 2

The videos downloaded from itunes work, but I bought the apple tv so i could watch my personal videos made with the ipod touch 4g, 1 out of 10 tries it works after exiting the camera and going back in but it only allows one video to be watched.

LOL OK for some odd reason now I can't access my videos made with ipod touch 4g through the photos icon. The "Albums" title sits on top of the "camera roll" folder making it impossible to touch and access it. Anyone else have this problem? I think I will just return my apple tv 2, it's just been frustrating.

Does anyone know what formats the TV recognizes, or if there is anything I can do to play movies straight from my external? Thanks.

  • ITunes 7 won't play sequential videos on iPod

So before I upgraded to iTunes 7 i had my TV shows as playlists and I could select that playlist on my iPod and hook it up to the TV and when it finished playing one episode it would start playing the next episode.
Now when I play an episode off the iPod it just plays that one episode over and over unless I select another episode off the iPod and play it.
What's the deal? Anybody have a remedy?
Also when I use the remote with the dock to advance to the next episode it just plays the current episode again from the beginning.

same problem with me, in my case if I disable Shuffle (I know that makes no sense) it works properly.

  • When I play certain videos on iPod, all I see is a black screen

WHat does this mean? I have converted the files to mp4 before transferring to the ipod, and they played perfectly in itunes. What could be wrong? Thanks so much!

Derrick, if you use a Mac you may want to try iSquint, which I've had quite a bit of success with.

If you're on PC, the defacto standard that I see people using is Videora.
