Playing iPod connected to 24/7 power

Hey guys,
I need help. My iPod mini displays "no battery power remains connect to power" or watever but the simple fact is that i actually have heaps of battery power. I found the iPod useless to me, and decided to get a new one. My dad paid for the new one and he said that i would not need to re-inburst him if he could have my old one for his business. What was purposed is that he would leave it connected to power all day and night long and leave it playing during the day.
How long will the iPod last before dieing of overcharging? Or what is the lifespan of the ipod when its doing that? I have had it for 1 year and 7 months is it gonna last long?

  • How do I select which bluetooth speakers to play out of? My iPod connects to both kitchen and living room speakers. My old iPod had a selection icon on the now playing screen, but my new one doesn't.

    Hi,
    Our setup
A new iPod Touch 5 with iOS 8.3.
Living room speakers that use a Logitech Bluetooth Audio Adapter.
Kitchen speakers that use an AmazonBasics Bluetooth 4.0 Audio Receiver.
The iPod connects to both but always wants to play to the kitchen. To play in the living room, we have to unplug the power to the kitchen speakers. Bluetooth settings screen doesn't let you select between Bluetooth connections. All I seem to be able to do is forget the connection.
We also have an old iPod Touch (not sure of the generation, but it has iOS 6.1.6). On that one, there is a little icon on the now playing screen that would open a little pull-down menu to let you select which Bluetooth connection to use for playing audio.
I don't see the "select output" icon on the new now playing screen

PS the iPod seems very aggressive in connecting. I hear the living room speakers activate when my wife gets out of the car in the driveway. Then as she comes into the living room, the sound switches to the kitchen.

Thanks, this was the clue I needed to figure it out.
From Settings you can pull up Control Center.
In Control Center you can enable "Access from within Apps" (also "Access from Lockscreen")
Now when I'm playing music, I can swipe up from the bottom and a little control center window slides up. Neat - this is new since my old iPod. On this window, the name of the current Bluetooth connection appears. Tap on that, and a list of connected Bluetooth items appears. I just tap on the one I want to connect to and I am now playing through the speakers I want.

  • Should I be able to play my ipod connected via a 3.5mm analog in?

So I have a 3.5mm male to male connector. I connected my ipod to the audio in jack on the mbp. When I play music from the ipod, I don't hear anything from either the internal speakers or a pair of usb connected speakers...
Is this configuration suppose to work?

The "line in" on an MBP is just that - an audio line in, which 'expects' line-level input. The headphone output of the iPod does not have sufficient power for a line-in port. A microphone port (which the MBP does not have) is what you'd need, or an amplifier. Since the MBP is a 'pro' computer, the line-in port is designed to work with audio devices which provide line-level output.
Having said that, there's no need to use the headphone port to play the music from the iPod. Just connect the iPod to the USB port (via a dock connector). Do NOT sync it (decline the option if offered), select the iPod in the devices list on the left side of iTunes, tick the box to "manually manage music..." Then, click the little triangle to the left of the iPod in the devices list, and you'll see your music. Click on a playlist, then double-click on a song in the main window to start playing it.

  • Ios 4 3gs Now will not play through my usb/ipod connection on car stereo

With new ios4 I cannot get my 3gs to play through my car stereo's ipod connection (usb)anymore. os3.1 or whatever the old os was worked fine. The car stereo controlled the tracks, artists, etc.. Now I plug the phone in and get a message saying it is not optimized to work with the stereo and may be subject to noise and interference, then the only option to click is "dismiss" and will not work. Any ideas? I tried the re sync and still will not work.

The method used to recognize the USB device has a clever bit of code in the firmware to improve the connect time once the initial handshake with the device has been established. So after the update to iOS4, the host device (Car Stereo) still thinks that it is connecting to the un-updated client device (iPhone prior to updating to iOS4) The updated client device (Your iPhone with iOS4), must fool the host device (Your car stereo), into believing that it is an entirely new device. This is done by connecting your iPhone to the stereo head USB port with the iPhone switched off completely. This is achieved by holding down the top power button on the iPhone until the red slide bar comes up and prompts you to shut the iPhone down. Do this and then with the car stereo switched on, plug the iPhone into the USB socket and wait till the iPhone starts of it's own accord. If it does not start, press the top power button on the phone until it starts. This will force the host device (Your car stereo) and the client device (Your iPhone) to re-negotiate the handshake between the devices and get you back to where you will once again be happy.
Now we can all stop beating up both the Car Stereo manufacturers and Apple and focus on being civil gentle folk that enjoy discussions about how clever we all are to be able to use amazing technology to get ourselves over-stressed and irritable.

  • Here's the exact scenario with it: 1) Ipod connected successfully to iTunes. 2) Drag song from Library(in AAC format) to My Ipod. 3) Song plays successfully in iTunes. BTW: This is one of the songs from my cd. Not bought. 4) Eject Ipod. 5) Find song in

Here's the exact scenario with it:
    1) Ipod connected successfully to iTunes.
    2) Drag song from Library(in AAC format) to My Ipod.
    3) Song plays successfully in iTunes.
BTW: This is one of the songs from my cd. Not bought.
    4) Eject Ipod.
    5) Find song in Ipod and press play.
    6) Display for song and time appear.
    7) About 1/3 of a second of the song plays, then it cuts out and restarts itself. (boots me back to apple logo)

Nope - and it was set to not look for them.
The final clue came when I tried hooking the drive directly to the computer, instead of to the airdisk. iTunes still hung. Then I disconnected the drive and tried to run it, and iTunes came up right away - but with an ! next to each song. Clearly it was trying to find/touch every file in the library on first startup.
I didn't try plugging in the drive and leaving the hanging iTunes running for more than a few minutes, so it's possible that it would have recovered and launched. But after removing the XML file, restoring the library to my pre-7.7 version, I could hear it accessing the directly attached drive (and see it in disk activity in the monitor) for a few minutes (less than I'd left the hanging one trying), before it came up.
    Conclusion:
    1) 7.7 is definitely trying to touch/see all the files in the library on first launch (proved by the ! when they are missing).
    2) Disconnecting/interrupting the touch/see MAY have corrupted something (can't prove it).
    3) Since touching 10,000 files takes a LONG time even at 802.11n speeds (let alone b or g), it's worth the hassle to plug the drive in directly for the first time.
    4) Patience is a virtue

  • Playing ipod thru car stereo with no mp3 capability

Is there a model that you can connect to your car audio (thru cigarette lighter) that will play clearly? My stereo is older and does not play mp3 nor do I have an ipod connection. Thanks for your help!

Yeah, they make FM transmitters that use the ciggerette lighter's power to power the transmitter. Cigarette lighter sockets are 12v only no audio in there.

  • Ipod Mini only runs with power adapter

Like the title says, I cannot figure this problem out..
The battery has been replaced and is brand new. Yet the ipod mini 2nd gen will only play songs and turn on when its connected to a permanent power source. For ex, the wall charger or the car. If it is disconected, it will turn off and there is no way to turn it back on unless its plugged back in.
    Please help!
    Dell   Windows XP Pro

    Try to reset it.
Press and hold the MENU and CENTER buttons - at the same time - until you see the Apple logo. This should take about 6 seconds. Also, you want to do this procedure while your iPod is connected to your computer. Ipods are supposed to work with USB port cable and AC Adapters, not only car chargers.
If this doesn't work, then try to update it using iPod Updater software. Open iPod Update, plug in your iPod to your computer and wait until the software recognizes it. Once it does, you should be able to click on the "Update" button. If you can't, click "Restore"

  • ITunes/iPod connectivity and battery issues

I have been having several issues with my iPod, but I know for a fact that it all comes back to my battery charging/connectivity.
    1. Whenever I connect my iPod to charge it, *my computer recognizes it* but *iTunes does not see it* at all.
    2. Instead of charging, my iPod does the *exact opposite*; power is being drained from it as quickly as it would normally load.
    3. As the battery drains, the large *battery image shows Red* and the *20% message comes up*, but the small battery icon in upper right has the *"Fully Charged" sign* on it.
    4. Whenever I plug in my iPod, the *screen flickers*. Nothing any more complicated, but the screen incessantly flickers *only when the device is "charging"*.
    5. This also happens with my *wall charger*, so I am sure it is not my computer.
I have reinstalled iTunes as well as installed an older version that previously worked, but unsurprisingly nothing helped. I tried to find out what may have caused it, but I hadn't done anything new or added anything in a few weeks.
I am very tempted to use my warranty to my advantage and either get a new one or my money back.
    This is ridiculous.

I am having the exact same problem with my computer sucking the power out of my 5th Gen iPod. I've bought new cables, restored it, tried every USB port on my Mac and my USB expander. It just keeps sucking the power from my iPod. I can charge it on a wall charger or my car charger but I can't leave it hooked up to my computer for longer than 2 or 3 minutes or the battery will be completely dead, even if it was fully charged when I plugged it in. It's just my computer that is doing this.
Is your wall charger an Apple charger or a Belkin charger. Both my wall charger and car charger are Belkin so I wonder if that has any affect on it.
I'm at least glad to know that I'm not the only one. Hopefully this will not be a problem on future models.

  • Ipod connected with VW part to my car: right speakers crackles with music

It only crackles/buzzes with music and not in silent gaps and only my right speakers. I have checked and my my PC files play without any noise. My ipod plays fine with headphones and via hifi connect. My ipod connects at the base with the VW radio/cd player. My VW radio /CD plays correctly with radio and with CD so i presume its not my right speaker. All music is from CD sources and none from any downloads. NOte also it is the same whether the car is running or not. SO does anyone know why the right channel/right speaker has a crackle/buzzing when i listen to my ipod in my car. VW have not come with anything. I am new to the ipod. Any one have any ideas please?

Do you get normal stereo sound from your Nano when using headphones?  If so then the problem is not with the iPod but with the car's sound system, or more likely the cable connecting the two.

  • Will Wifi-sync on iOS5 start if I have my iPod connected to my car when I pull onto my drive in wifi range?

Will Wifi-sync on iOS5 start if I have my iPod connected to my car when I pull onto my drive in wifi range?

Well iOS 5 helps you sync with your computer wirelessly when connected to a power supply and on wifi.
iOS 4 should allow you to have automatic downloads from your account with iTunes rather than from your computer.
Just go to settings>store and turn on automatic downloads and it will do what you want whether it's plugged in or not as long as you're on wifi.

  • Playing iPod through iTunes without syncing - is this possible?

My iPod is sync'd with my laptop at home, but I would like to connect my iPod to my laptop at work and use it through iTunes. I don't want to sync them because I don't want to install 2,000 songs onto my work laptop. Is it possible to leave my iPod connected through USB and play the songs through iTunes? Currently when I try this all the songs display in my iTunes library but are greyed out and will not play.
    IBM Thinkpad   Windows XP

"Currently when I try this all the songs display in my iTunes library but are greyed out and will not play"
Grey text when you look at the content and lock symbol at the bottom of the screen simply shows that your iPod is set to automatically update. If you want to access your iPod directly, drag songs to it, play it through your iTunes, connect it to a second computer etc. you just need to change the update method to "Manually manage songs and videos" in the iPod Summary tab and click Apply. The text will change from grey to dark and the padlock will disappear: Managing content manually on iPod
One thing to be aware of with manually updating is that the iPod also has to be manually ejected before the "Do Not Disconnect" message will go away. Safely disconnect iPod

My ipod will connect to any wi-fi but it will not connect at home. how can i fix this?

Does the iPod connect to other networks?
Does the iPod see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?

Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
