Playing IPOD mini after charging battery

Afternoon all,
I have just recharged the battery on my IPOD mini on my computer at work and now when I go to play it. The apple sign appears followed by a folder with an explanation mark and www.apple.com/support/ipod
I have gone to the website and followed all instructions. I have even found myself being in disk mode on the ipod, yet still I cannot play anything from the music list.
Could someone tell me whether the computer I am using to charge to battery on needs to have necessary software (i.e. itunes etc.) in order to charge the ipod and all in all, can anyone help me get it working again please?!
Thanks
Damoredodno

Sometimes (only) charging your iPod from a USB port causes problems. My suggestion is:
1) Play your Mini until the battery dies (unless that has already occurred)
2) Charge it completely from via the wall charger
If it doesn't return to semi-normal after this, your battery may be shot. No, you don't have to have iTunes loaded on a PC to mount (and charge) your Mini as an external USB drive.

Ipod touch 3rd generatio, after charging I turned on the device and it show to connect to itunes and is frozen will do nothing, any suggestins what might be wrong with this devise?

I've had a similar problem with my older 3rd gen ipod touch. It could be the hardware. Try holding down the home button and on button at the same time for a couple of seconds or connect it to itunes for a bit. I also leave it alone for a while then it seems to unfreeze itself. Are you saying it's still frozen after you connect it to iTunes?

  • Ipod mini ac charger and ipod nano

Nice and easy but i could not find the same exact question elsewhere.
I have an ipod mini that has battery problems, i have just received a new nano and noticed that it does not have an AC charger. Now, the question is, will my ipod mini ac charger and the firewire cable charge my new nano or do i have to go and spend 20 quid on another ac charger, and i'll be mighty hacked off if i do.

Cheers mate. Yeah i figured on the usb sync thing just wanted to make sure i wasnt gonna blow up my nano with the Mini ac charger.
    Thanks again,
    Ian.

    Hi soethatnaing,
If your iPad won't turn on, I recommend trying the steps in the "Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off" section of this article under Power/Battery:

  • Ipod mini sometimes charges and sometimes doesnt. Is software the problem?

I am having problems with my ipod mini. On some days it charges and on other days it "fake charges".
By "fake charges" I mean : leaving it to charge on my computer via usb cable overnight and it did not completely give me the charge sign. I would unplug it seeing an almost fully charged icon of the battery on the top right hand corner of the ipod. But as soon as I unplug the ipod I get the message that it has no more battery power and tells me to please plug it to a power source. Then it resets and when I reboot it the battery icon shows me that it never really charged and the icon is exactly the same before I tried charging it.
When it does charge the battery it would usually lasts up to 6 hours+ depending on the volume I put it at. Therefore I know that it isnt a battery problem but still clueless. On occasions the ipod would just shut off by itself after continious play and it was untouched + on hold.
I have tried charging on my own laptop and on several occasions used different versions of itunes. The newest itunes did not charge my ipod after many attempts so I used an older version which suprisingly worked and my ipod was able to charge fully. Then it stopped working not knowing why but I also tried other versions of itunes. They worked for awhile leading me to suspect that this maybe a software issue. After that I decided to give itunes 7.1 a try and it was fine.
I have tried restoring it many times with 7.1 itunes. They worked for awhile and allowed my battery to fully charge but I see no permanent results. My brother told me that constant reformatting of the ipod hard drive will eventually cause it to fail like any other hard drive but I am not sure if this information is true or not.
I have also tried charging it on the iMAC. My school owns a couple of iMACs so I tried charging it for an hour. Once again it "faked charged". Then I tried charging it on another iMAC and surprisingly it charges. I left it there for 2 hours and took it off the iMAC and the battery life would remain 3/4 full while playing songs. I am not sure what the difference was but the current iMAC I used had 7.1 itunes version not the 7.11 one that newly came out.
I am wondering if anyone has the same or similar problem like mine's. I am stumped at what is causing the problem and I am sad to say that itunes and quicktime has damaged my dell laptop to the point that my computer freezes every 10 minutes. It basically killed my computer and I have a program that tells me that the problem is caused by not finding the registry for itunes and quicktime making it freeze and sucking my CPU usuage to the max of 100%.
I am also quite diappointed at Apple's support because they just told me that it is the battery that needs to be replaced. I dont think that is the case. It can hold a charge but wont charge!
I am in an awful situation I think I'm going insane. the ipod that I orginially thought was a good idea is causing chao in my surroundings. I now have to fix my ipod and computer. I would be happy for any replys and suggestions. I am indeed sorry for my long post but I just wanted to make sure that I address all the problems with the ipod.

If you restored to factory defaults/new iPod (you did not say the type of restore your performed) and are still having the problem that indicates a hardware problem. An appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order..

  • Problem w/ipod mini reseting/charging

I've been having a problem with my ipod mini (2nd. gen 4gb) not fulling charging even after 8 hours and then shutting itself off and reseting after a few minutes of use. I've read some of the posts and couldn't really find a solution yet. I've tried reseting manually while plugged in to my computer (I don't have a wall plug-in adapter) I made sure I'm fully updated (v. 1.4) and have not yet reset it to factory settings, I'm hoping not to have to do that because I have a huge library of music on my computer and do not want to have issues reloading some of it onto my ipod. I have started the process to send it in for repairs but an afraid I will be charged the diagnostic fees (I can't afford the possible $100) I've got a dark spot in my lcd screen in the upper corner and a few scratches on the case from being transported in my purse with my keys but other than that it hasn't been traumatized in any way (never dropped etc.) I'm thinking about going to my local apple store tomorrow to see if they can help. I just want to know that if I cancel my repair order before sending in my ipod that I won't be charged anything and also if I do end up sending it back that it won't be sent back with a bill unrepaired. Please help me I got this a few months ago for my birthday and cannot afford to buy a new one if this ones broken and not repairable!

Ok so I charged it all night and took it off this morning and as soon as I turned it on and toldit to play a song so I could try calibrating the battery it said low battery and shut off again! It showed it was still charging on the screen, I unmountedit from my computer showed an almost full battery then jumped to half full then shut off. I'm getting so incredibly frustrated with this thing, somebody please help me out here!

  • Why dosen't my IPOD mini stay charged anymore?????????????

*I have had my Ipod mini for about 4 years and it will say it is fully charged while it is connected to the charger, but when i go to use it it wont even play a song. The battery dies instantly. Am i able to get this fixed by apple? Or is my IPOD shot?!

D19, while I'm sure you're trying to be helpful, I'm going to label you as a troll. Plus, not all people live in Europe.
To the topic creator: After roughly 400 charge cycles, the battery is only able to retain 80% of it's charge, and this percentage declines more and more as the battery ages. Depending on use, a battery usually lasts a satisfactory amount of time for 12-18 months.
If you live in America, then you have a few options:
    1) Send it to Apple. For $59, they'll replace your iPod with a refurbished iPod with a new battery installed.
    2) For somewhat cheaper than Apple's replacement service, you can send it to other companies (such as iPodjuice.com) to have them install the battery. These batteries typically last longer per charge, have much better warranties, and allow you to receive your actual iPod back.
    3) The cheapest method is to buy a battery on eBay. You'll have to install the battery yourself, so you may need to buy tools as well, but the battery is far cheaper than any other route. The cons are needing tools as I mentioned, skimpier warranties on the actual battery, and if you mess your iPod up during the change, you're **ed.
Personally, I repair iPod's so I always choose the 3rd method. But you'll probably be best off with the 2nd method.
Whatever you decide to do, good luck!

  • Got new ipod mini, wont charge! Shows ipod w/sad face

I just bought a 4GB ipod mini. Whenever I charge it [i use the charger on the "iHome" dock] it first shows the apple logo, then after a few seconds it shows the little ipod with a sad face, and it says "apple.com/support/ipod" then after displaying that for a few seconds, a little picture of a battery and an exclamation point next to it flashes really fast, then it repeats the whole thing over again. I have never used it before that is why i am worried!! has this happened to anyone else?? I know that it isnt the iHome charger because my sister has used it on her mini ipod and it worked perfectly!

AH! sorry wrong section to post it in!

  • Ipod mini- 3/4 battery shutting down with "no battery power remaining"

After fully charging my ipod mini, while it still has 3/4 battery on the battery meter in the corner will shut itself down due to "no battery power remaining" if i push the NEXT button too many times in a row. This is a consistant problem and always happens when i have a half battery power or more. I do keep it in Shuffle mode, and i am fully aware that will drain the battery quicker, however there should be no reason a freshly charged ipod with 3/4 battery should not be able to shuffle a few songs without shutting down. Has anyone else ever had this problem or knows of any solution for fixing it? Any help would be appreciated!!

my ipod is doing the same thing...except when I turn it on it will say i have 3/4 battery for only about 10 seconds, then it turns off. All the other forums I have read say to get the battery replaced, but Apple can and usually does send a faulty battery so it might be time for a new ipod.

  • My ipod mini shows full battery life...but it keeps saying that its dead.

hey I just took my ipod off its charger, I have an ihome...and it was on it all night and most of the day charging. I went to turn it on and it showed that it had full battery and then I started playing a playlist and on the first song it played it stopped the song and said that it didnt have any battery life left. then just now I turned it back on it looked like it had almost no battery life. then after a song had played a lil bit it goes back to full battery. Then later after its been played for about maybe a half an hour if that it dies again for good. untill I charge it back up and start the whole thing over again. now I know these things last longer then a half an hour, am I right? its also like 2 years old.
please! some one help me or tell me what I should do because Im about ready to trash the thing and buy a new ipod! and its past warrenty.

you can replace your battery for like 30 bucks. There are instructions on the web and quite a few websites that sell replacement batteries. Check the web for an hour or two. Don't spend another 250 when you can have it back ready to rock for a lot less. Apple just wants your 250, don't give it to them. It's highway robbery, look at cell phones, they need replacement batteries every 2 years or so. And $30 for a replacement li-ion battery is a total steal these days...

  • Ipod mini gen and battery test?

where can i see what generation my ipod mini is? and where can i see this battery test thing?

What is a “Battery Failure?" A third-generation iPod has experienced battery failure when “the capacity… to hold an electrical charge has dropped to four hours or less of continuous audio playback, with earbuds attached,” while first- and second-generation iPods have failed when they get “five hours or less of continuous audio playback, with earbuds attached.” Surprisingly, the definition does not mention whether the numbers need be reached with or without your screen’s backlight on. Regardless, your battery must have failed within two years of the date of purchase.
How do I know for sure if I have a Battery Failure? Run the test provided in Apple’s Notice, part IV. Reset your iPod, then update it with the latest Software Updater, fully charge the iPod, go to the Settings menu and turn on Repeat, then turn on a timer and play a song from an album. The song will replay until the battery runs out. If your iPod falls below the times specified above, your battery has failed.

  • How to turn on 6th gen iPod Nano after charging?

Hello, could anyone help me with this issue:
My iPod Nano was completely drain out of battery so I was charging it this morning, I want to ask is it normal when your iPod doesn't turn on quickly after charging after completely out of battery? is it different from iPhone (in iPhone it will show charging sign)?
What should I do to check if my iPod is charged correctly? or this is a sign that my iPod was broken? please help, thanks
I left my iPod at home and still charging it for the next two hours.hoping it will turn on again.

    Hello greenmous,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
If the iPod's battery had fully drained, it could take up to at least half an hour before your iPod begins to show any signs of life, depending on whether you have it plugged into a USB port on your computer or connected to an external power adapter.
For now I would let it be. If still no signs of life after a while, try resetting the iPod.
    To reset iPod nano:
First, make sure iPod nano is charged. Then press the Sleep/Wake button and the Volume Down button for 6 seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
