Playing iTunes HD Movies in Boot Camp

Is it possible to play HD movies purchase from iTunes in Boot Camp?  I have a Mid-2010 21.5" iMac and when I try to play them on my Windows 8.1 partition with either the ATI drivers from the Boot Camp package for my system or with the latest Catalyst drivers through iTunes 12, it throws an HDCP error stating my monitor must either be built in or support HDCP.  The same movies play fine on this computer using Mac OS X.  Any thoughts on how to resolve?  Thanks in advance.

Perhaps you downloaded the videos some time ago.  This might help:

  • Western Digital HD live - how to play iTunes TV & movies already on WD Pass

I purchased a WD HD Live media player to play my authorized iTunes TV & Movie downloads from the WD Passport 350MB portable drive. I normally play them with Quick Time from the WD portable drive -

Which iPad are you using? Mine (First generation) simply crashes to the desktop--I don't get any error message, however, I am able to stream movies flawlessly with my iPhone 4s in both wireless and 4G modes.

  • Playing iTunes rental movie on Macbook air

    Hi there
I have downloaded an iTunes rental movie on my windows desktop.  Can I access it on my Macbook Air??
    Thanks
    Megs

Mine handles iTunes videos ok. Be aware that when you buy the HD version you also get the SD version. The combination is normally 5 gigs or better. If you're going to view the movie on the MBair, SD is probably good enough weighing in at slightly over a gig.

  • Playing itunes rental movies

when I try to play a movie that was downloaded to a computer, that I have given away, on my new computer, it says this movie has been authorized to play on another computer and cannot be played on this ( my new ) computer, Is there anyway I can play the movie that I rented and downloaded on my new computer, The rental period has not expired. thank you joanlvh

    Can't do it.
You can only move it from the computer you rented it on to an iPhone, touch, iPod or Apple TV.
To do this, you need to be connected the internet and sync it using iTunes. Simply copying it over will not update iTunes DRM to allow it to play on the other device.

  • Can iPod Touch 4g play iTunes' HD movies?

I want to know whether, with the retina display, you can watch the HD movies available on iTunes on the iPod Touch 4g.

    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3209
HD videos feature a higher-quality picture, but are designed to be played only on your iPhone 4 or later, iPod touch (4th generation), iPad, iPad 2, computer, or Apple TV. HD content is offered in either 720p or 1080p.
    Should be fine. good luck

  • Why cant iPad 3 play iTunes purchased movies?

So I've got an iPad 3 or not so new 'new' ipad with retina dsiplay and haven't ever had issues before in syncing or playing HD or SD movies on it.
Recently, I'm guessing after one of the recent updates I can't sync a purchased movie or TV show such as "Anchorman" or "Game of Thrones season 3 - Ep1" to my iPad 3.
I get an error msg saying that these movies or TV shows weren't synced to the ipad because the ipad can't play that file?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but an iPad with Retina display should be able to play any downloaded purchased movie wetc from the itunes store.
This is really irritating as the main reason I have this thing is to sync movies and TV shows to watch while travelling on planes etc.
And yes, I realise I could probably download them straight to the iPad through ym purchased link in the itunes store or something but that sort of defeats the purpose and takes much longer than a sync.
Please help its driving me nuts......
P.S - I'm no iPad nor iOS or OSX noob, and have had an iPad of some sort since the first day they were released.

The only thing that I could suggest is the really basic stuff which I'm sure that you already tried, reboot the iPad, quit iTunes, restart your computer and try again ....
I understand the principle behind being able to sync as it should, but sometimes trying to get to the bottom of something like this can be like beating your head against the wall and you never get anywhere. My point is, you may have to just "bite the bullet" and delete the show from the iPad and download it again.
I have had to do that a couple of times with purchased movies that would not sync or play correctly on the iPad.

  • 1st Gen Apple TV won't play iTunes purchased movie

I purchased a movie (not HD) on iTunes and cannot play it on my 1st gen Apple TV.  My older movies are still there to be viewed.  Any thoughts?

Does it appear in the movie list on the AppleTV1 but won't play?  Does it give an error?
Try purchasing something on AppleTV1 direct - check in iTunes you may find a free episode of a TV Show or similar.  I had an issue last year with new content until I purchased something else on AppleTV - i assumed it was some kind of authorisation getting updated.

  • Itunes 7.1.1 crashes when play Itunes purchased movie/video

I have Vista Home Premium running on an HP Pavillion M7790Y. I just installed Itunes 7.1.1, music plays fine but when I play a movie purchased on itunes, it begins then gets stuck and then ultimately crashes. Any ideas?

I personally can't see how iTunes would work
differently with SATA drives or IDE drives - the OS
does that. Then again, strange things do happen!
You're looking at it the wrong way, most likely.
It isn't that iTunes works differently with SATA. It's that something in the SATA drivers doesn't like the way iTunes (really QuickTime, actually) is accessing the disks.
But yes, I have Vista Ultimate, iTunes 7.1.1 and SATA
drives. As will nearly everybody else who has bought
a new PC in the last two years or so. I'd assume this
    to be a widespread problem!
Actually SATA drives in typical home PCs are a relatively recent phenomenon, and Vista is obviously brand new. That said, most new PCs other than the lowest end ones now have SATA drives and run Vista, so if this really is a SATA + Vista problem (and again, no one has definitively proven that it is) it will begin to affect large numbers of people soon.
Edit to add... I just copied a downloaded video onto
my FreeNAS box, which uses a CIFS connection. I
opened the video in Quicktime and - it plays
perfectly fine. So there you go, it looks confirmed.
    How silly! Fix it Apple!!!
Yup, doing something like that would have been one of my suggested workarounds. In my case I have both IDE and SATA drives in my system, so I put my iTunes folder on my IDE drive for now.
Gotta tell you, this drove me absolutely nuts for nearly two weeks when I first upgraded to Vista, which is one of the reasons I post about it a lot - so others doing a Google search will find these posts and know they're not alone.

  • Error message when trying to play iTunes purchased movies

    Hi,
I have purchased a TV show from iTunes using my Apple TV 3rd generation and whenever I attempt to view the purchased item a message appears on the TV saying "An error occurred loading this content. Please try again later".
I have tried power cycling, restarting the router, resetting and restoring, without any success.
    Any ideas?
    All help appreciated.
    Thanks.

After fiddling around with it, I have managed to fix this by adjusting the Internet speed preferences in the Apple TV settings menu.
Hope this helps someone else with the same problem.
