Playing movie created in iMovie on PC

Hello,
I have a client I'm making a marketing presentation for. I wanted to do it in iMovie instead of PowerPoint so I can integrate video & sound with the still photos and text. The big question is if I make it in iMovie can my client open it on a PC? If yes, is there any special formating/save options I need to use.

iMovie can export (aka "Share") QuickTime movie files. QT player for Windows is a free download. Download the installer and include it on the CDR or DVD with the QT movie file you are giving to the client.

There is no iDVD on my mac.
There is NO alternative. But iDVD is very easy to get.

Movie created in iMovie won't play in IPad

I have a 45 minute video made on iMovie that plays on my iMac, MacBook and iPhone (haven't tried iTouch), but iTunes will not let me sync it to iPad because "it will not play". At first it was a .mov file, then I changed it to .mp4 and .mv4 (just by changing extension). I have it in my iMovie Media Browser but can't seem to get to that through iTunes. Any ideas?

After reading several other threads I want to clarify that I do not have the iMovie app on my iPad. I created the movie using iMovie on my MacBook and simply want to be able to watch the finished product on my iPad. The finished product has already been successfully viewed on an iMac, MacBook, iPhone and a 2-year-old iPod nano and has been converted to DVD using iDVD and played on TV screens.

Quicktime Movie created in iMovie plays in FCP timeline but NO AUDIO

I don't get any sound out of the Quicktime movie I made in iMovie when I drag it into Final Cut Pro. I get the red line indicating that it needs to be rendered, but even after I render, there is no sound.
Can this be remedied?

I got the movie into FCP a couple of different ways, hearing no audio the first way then trying to bring it in another way to see if it gave me audio. First I imported the QT movie that resulted from my iMovie project. I found it in my external drive where I had it stored, and I imported it.
When I detected a problem, I undid that and opened Finder, selected the external drive, found my movie and dragged the icon into my bin.
In either case, when I opened it in the canvas, it played -- video only. When I dragged it into the timeline, it separated the media into one channel of video and two channels of audio. It would play -- video only. There was a red render bar that I eliminated by rendering all, to no effect for recovering audio, and then by rendering 'audio only,' which also didn't work.
I then tried dragging in a second iMovie QT project to see if the same problem existed. It did. With that project, however, responding to the red render bar by hitting 'render all' gave me a window saying it would take two hours. Why that wasn't the case for the other movie, I don't know. Perhaps it's the only one that might have worked, should I have had two hours to wait. It freaked me out a little 'cuz it didn't even appear to start working on the render after several moments of watching my cursor turn into a rainbow on and off. So I just closed it out and posted my question.

How do I convert a .mov created in iMovie to an .mpeg?

I am trying to post a slide show/movie I created on a website's Media Gallery. They need the file to be .mpg or .mpeg. or .wmv. (The web master said the coding isn't as important than the file type when I asked if mpeg 2, or mpeg 4 was ok. I don't understand the difference between coding & file type) I exported it to my desktop from imovie and it's a .mov. I've tried ffmpegX converter to create a .wmv but only the first 30 seconds gets converted. I have QT pro, but that's about it.

Playing .mov files from iMovie with Quitime for Windows

Hi,
Been searching but cannot seem to find a straight answer on this in these forums. My wife has a mac, we import all movies on to that using iMovie 08. I want to simply play the same movies on my PC. I copy the .mov files over, run them in quicktime and get audio but no video, just a black screen. Same for any other player. Quicktime Movie Inspector shows the following:

The PAL sized QuickTime file is in its "raw" codecs found in iMovie.
To view it on any other machine it should be compressed with "delivery" codecs like H.264 video and AAC audio. Do this directly in iMovie.

Panasonic lumix avchd wont play movies correctly in imovies

Does anyone know why when i import a movie recorded in avchd from my panasonic lumix camera, into imovies 09 , it plays the movie really fast and skips frames etc.
The sound doesn't match either.The sound is played at normal speed but the video is playing at double the speed,.
If you know how to fix it , could you please explain it like your talking to a 5 year old. The camera and the computer are both only purchased july 09. Cheers. Brendan

This may or may not help you, but I have read that the ZS3 records at 30fps but it outputs at 60fps through frame doubling. I am not sure exactly how it does this but I believe it is a flag.
I have also read that iMovie does not read the flags correctly to frame double the clip which is why your 39 second clip is outputting at double the speed and completing in 20 seconds.
I also read that it is possible to get iMovie to correct this, but I can not remember the precise steps. You may google for it. Basically it goes like this. You import the movie using iMovie and save it. Then close iMovie. Then you select the movie and (and this is the bit I do not remember) somehow modify a frame rate setting to correct it from 30fps to 60fps. Then open iMovie again and apparently it plays correctly.

Trouble getting iDVD to burn a movie created in iMovie?

I am running OS 10.4.11 on a PowerBook G4 with SuperDrive that has been updated with iLife '08. I was able to create and burn several home movies to a DVD last year and at least two since performing the iLife '08 upgrade. But now when I double click the _Create iDVD Project_ button I always get the message _There was an internal iDVD error during the last action. This is not a movie_.
I tried to burn a DVD with one of the movies that I had previously burned and I got the same error message. After searching the web for a solution I tried repairing the permissions, deleting the .plists from iMovie and iDVD, and later reinstalling the operating system along with iLife '08. When I read that iLife '08 might be a problem I reinstalled the older version of iDVD (but not iMovie since iLife '08 is not compatible with Tiger) and I still get the same message. Can anyone offer a possible solution to my problem?
PS Just once while working with one of the older movies I was able to start the burning process. After that I was not able to repeat this action a second time with the same movie.

I have tried every solution suggested by Apple and others on the web (where there are many) but nothing has worked. I am convinced this iMovie to iDVD problem is caused by Apple's own software. Now if this had been the only problem I think I would have kept trying a while longer --- but my PowerBook G4 17" is one that has a serial number starting with W85 (with nasty lines which now number over 30), plus it has one broken key top (which Apple reps tell me will require that I replace the complete keyboard). My Apple care having run out some time ago, I now have to pay for all repairs. So I have taken the path of least resistance and purchased a new computer. I will not say which one but I am confident I won't end up with the same problems. I guess one could say that in one way my question has been answered but I am not at all happy.

Can i save a movie created in imovie to a usb?

I have made a movie in imovie with photos and now want to save it to a usb or even disk..... preferably usb because i can put that in the tv. I have tried turing it into a quicktime file and putting that on a usb but it wont work once it is in my tv ..... please help!

Are you using an Apple TV?
Or does your TV have a non-Apple media player? (brand, model, etc?)
Do you know what are the specs for it? (the media types it can play)

How do you burn a movie created in iMovie 10 to DVD?

I would like to use the new iMovie with Maverick but I don't know how to take the finised movie and export it onto a dvd. Any suggestions?

Go to File>Share>File, choose the size (probably should choose either SD or Large) then click Next, give it a name, then click Save.
Go to iDVD. Go to File>Import>Video and select the file you just created. It will bring the video into your iDVD project.
This was always the way I did it in the previous version of iMovie. Works just fine.

My web hosting company, dreamhost.com, offers a Darwin streaming server for to post streaming QuickTime Movies. My problem is that their documentation uses links/examples for QuickTime Pro, not iMovie which is what I have.

No. iMovie '11 (actually version 9) cannot read iMovie 10 events and projects. You could import into iMovie '11 a shared movie created in imovie 10 then edit that (but with the risk of quality reduction).

I just wanted to know if it was possible to save a video/movie file to your iPhone4, that was created in iMovie'11 and then email it using the phone's wifi capability to contacts? I created the film in iMovie'11 and then shared it to iTunes and now i'm stuck. Please help. New at this and we're trying to figure this stuff out.

I did try that BUT the DVD will NOT play in my dvd player. The large size 'share' option converted the imovie file into a m4v format. TOAST burned it okay but it won't open in the player.
Any other suggestions will be appreciated...
