Playing movies in itunes

I can't figure out how to play my DVD's in Itunes. I put them into the player, but it doesn't read them. I'm trying to put them onto my Ipod. How do i do this? Or is there another way to go about this?

iTunes doesn't read, rip, or play DVD's.

  • Organizing and playing movies in iTunes

    Hi!
I've experimentet a little with putting all my movies into iTunes and use that for all my movies and songs. Movies ripped with HandBrake is playing fine, but .mpg files lacks (or whatever it's called) when the control panel is visible (the one where you can pause the movie, rewind it etc.), but plays smoothly when it disappears. And .avi files can't open at all.
Can you give me some pointers about using iTunes for more than just songs?
    Thanks

The same thing is happenning on my latest iTunes software. I cannot move the Diamond on the scrub line to advance/rewind my video. And using the next or back button indeed goes to the next movie and not to next chapter within movie....

  • Problems playing movie from itunes

when showing a movie from itunes on my LCD projector I receive the following message This movie can be played only on displays that support HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection).

    Greetings out2sea5,
In order to play HD video content purchased from iTunes all the components of your system, including your projector, must support the HDCP standard. See this article for reference -

  • Hope this helps those trying to play movies on itunes since last update.

after sept 12 update, i could not play movies or tv shows on itunes.  did the uninstall/reinstall of itunes and quicktime.  did the uncheck 3d video acceleration under quicktime perferences advanced tab.  NONE OF THAT WORKED!!!  finally saw someone's post about just dragging and dropping your movie over the quicktime icon.  got a error message and then waited for my cursor to stop spinning (which it didn't) and after saying WTH, I just went ahead and clicked on the play button.  GUESS WHAT?  it worked and i was able to watch my movies without any hiccups or problems.  FINALLY.  and btw, this post was on a quicktime support community.  thanks apple.

  • Jumpy playback when playing movies wthin iTunes

I just downloaded iTunes 7 and a movie purchased and downloaded successfuly. When playing it within iTunes 7 The picture is very jumpy and skips frames. Also when playing within iTunes 7 it generates or uses a lot of my resources 50% to 60% and veriates. I did figure out that I can watch the movie by opening my QuickTime player and find the file of the movie and it plays fine, flawless awesome quality of picture without jumping and my resources stay under 2% even if I run other aplications at the same time.
My question is how do I get it to play the same within iTunes 7 so I can enjoy the full screen option and avoid jumping through all the hoops just to open and play the movie? I did try fix tool within the instal program and it did not fix the problem. Thanks for any help you can give!

I am having exactly the same problem--my movie and TV shows are very jumpy. It gets significantly worse at loud or fast-moving sections. I've not found any solution.

  • Apple tv so slow playing movies from iTunes

What can I do to speed up my ATV when I play movies stored on my Mac Book (iTunes)?
This never was an issue, and now it loads and loads.  rebooting, unplugging and restarting the router/modem/ATV/Mac still doesn't work?
I saw a similar thread, but no apple experts added any comments so I thought I would try again.

That would indicate an issue with your wireless network. I would check for interference using istumbler as that is the most common, and especially since the one connected via Ethernet is fine

  • Apple TV Cannot Play Movies with iTunes Extras

For some reason, when I click on a movie in iTunes (downloaded from the iTunes Store), it plays the iTunes Extras by default, not the movie. I noticed the problem when I could not get my ATV2 to show these movies via Home Sharing. The affected movies do not even show up on my ATV2 via home sharing. Does anyone have any idea what is causing the iTunes Extra file to be the default playback file for a movie? Movies in my iTunes library that don't have iTunes Extras play just fine in iTunes and on my ATV2.

Go to your itunes library on computer and highlight the Movies category, try to find the movie - then right click and 'Show in Finder' (or Windows equivalent to view the actual movie files).
For each movie with extras you should have:
    MovieName.m4v     (main feature)
    and
MovieName - iTunes Extras.ite     (extras files)
You should actually see an entry for each in itunes grouped together.

  • How do I play movie in iTunes on my TV?

I don't have Apple TV but in the past, I've been able to play a movie I made myself on my monitor that also is a TV (i.e., my Sony Trinitron TV). I tried out the video rental thing in iTunes and I canNOT get it to display on my TV monitor. Yes, I have the right cable and I can play stuff from my iPod on my TV but not from my Mac. I want to use my Mac to be able to use the remote control that came with it. This is really frustrating. What's the trick or is it impossible? I don't have the budget to go buy Apple TV and I don't have the modern up to date type of TV it requires. Help!

Check out this Apple article -> Using AirPlay
Enabling AirPlay from iTunes on your computer
To stream music or videos from your computer to an Apple TV or AirPort Express:
Connect your computer and Apple TV to the same Wi-Fi network.
    Open iTunes (10.2 or later).
Locate and click the icon in the bottom-right corner of the iTunes application.
Select your Apple TV, AirPort Express, or AirPlay-enabled speakers or receivers from the list of available devices that appears, and begin playback.
Note: The images of a TV screen or speaker next to each AirPlay device in the AirPlay menu indicate the type of media content you can stream to that device.
Do you see the Denon when you click the AirPlay icon in the lower right corner of iTunes?

  • Audio and video are not in sync when playing movies in iTunes

I have downloaded several movies from the iTunes store, and also ripped two digital copy discs into my iTunes library. When I try to play them, the audio is not in sync with the video. Very frustrating when you see the characters lips move, then about a second or two after, you hear what they were saying.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. I am running most current version of iTunes, and QuickTime.

I have looked a little bit more, and it seems as though the video is lagging behind, not the other way around. Video seems choppy, but the audio is playing perfectly. Music Videos are suffering from the same problem as well. Also, when I sync to my iPod Touch 16GB, audio & video match up perfectly.
I still have no idea how to fix this. Please help.

  • Can not play movies without iTunes

I purchased several moves and downloaded them onto my MacBook Pro 10.9.5.  The plan was to be able to watch these movies when I lost electricity.  Well, it happened today and when I try to play them with QuickTime Player (or anything else I have), it tells me I must use iTunes to play them.  But when I open iTunes, it tells me I have no connection so I can't play them.  Help!  They are stored on my MBP - 1.8 GB each (TV shows).  How can I play them when I have no power?

movies.  I purchased movies not moves.  ;-)

  • When I try and play movies from iTunes, iTunes shuts down

When I go to play a movie, iTunes stops working.  I've uploaded all upgrades and the latest version of iTunes...any thoughts?  Windows XP desktop.

  • Playing movies from iTunes store on another computer

I am admittedly new to iTunes, but I was wondering if I can access my purchases on another computer? Or is what I downloaded from the store only downloaded onto one specific computer and inaccessible again from the store without repurchasing it? I downloaded a few movies onto my mac but I wanted to burn the movies from my Dell onto a DVD. Can I do that without saving the movies from my mac onto a flash drive and transferring the files to my Dell?

To view on another computer you need to transfer the file to the other computer. Add the file to iTunes on that computer. If iTunes on the second computer is authorized with the same account as the first one, the file will play.

  • Can't play movie in iTunes

    Hi,
I am experiencing the following problems regarding playback of movies I purchase through the iTunes Store.
    1) Most often I make the purchase from my iPad, the movie is then downloaded to my iPad and to my Mac Mini next time I run iTunes after the purchase. The movie can be viewed on the iPad, and (through the iTunes Home Sharing) via my AppleTV.
However - the movie cannot be played in iTunes on my Mac Mini. The error (translated from Norwegian) states "This movie requires QuickTime not supported by this version of iTunes."
    2) Just the other day I made a movie purchase directly from my Mac Mini. After the download has completed, I get the same message as mentioned earlier. But I also cannot copy the movie over to my iPad, with iTunes giving me this message (again translated from Norwegian): "<the movie name> was not copied to the iPad <name of iPad> because it cannot be played on the iPad unit".
This movie too, can be viewed via my AppleTV (Home Sharing).
I have tried converting the movie via Advanced > Create iPad or AppleTV version, but this option fails simply with this message (from Norwegian): "There was an error converting the file <movie name>. There was an unknown error (-4)."
The Mac Mini is running all available updates of OSX (10.8.2), iTunes (10.7 (21) 64 bit) and QuickTime (10.2 (603.6).
My iPad and AppleTV are also updated with the latest available versions.
Does anyone know how I can watch the movies I purchase?
I am using the Norwegian edition of the iTunes Store.
    Sincerely,
    Robert

"This movie requires QuickTime, which is not supported by this version of iTunes" - https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3832288 - switch iTunes to 32 bit mode.
iTunes 10.4 for Mac: Older media files may require iTunes to reopen in 32-bit mode - http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3771 - "iTunes 10.4 or later on OS X Lion opens by default in 64-bit mode. However, some older media files in your iTunes library may still rely on QuickTime to play, and QuickTime only runs in 32-bit mode. In order to play media that encounters this issue, you will need to open iTunes in 32-bit mode first."
