Playing music in car and using phone
Sorry if this thread exists, I was not able to find it
Currently using AUX for iphone music playback in my car but have to unplug it when using the phone.
What's the best way for me to be able to play music in the car and be able to use the phone without having to unplug it everytime?
If I get a BT headset can I plug iphone to AUX and llisten to music and answer a call?
so confused....
Michael, i've heard different experiences with this. The bluetooth idea may work or may not. That just depends on whether the iPhone still recognizes your AUX line as the "headphones". In that case, it won't work.
See if you have a friend with bluetooth earpiece that you can borrow and try this out.
Perhaps some 3rd party company like Belkin or someone else will come up with a solution to this. Only time will tell. And the iPhone economy will grow exponentially

Playing Music via Airtunes and using as a repeater simultaneously
Id like to use Airport Express as a repeater and a client for playing music via Airtunes simultaneously. Is this possible anyhow? I do only have two choices using the airport-assistant: 1st Connecting to use Airtunes and bonjour printer; 2nd using as a repeater. This can´t be everything!
alterkram, Welcome to the discussion area!
Regardless if you configure the AirPort Express (AX) to join a wireless network or as part of a WDS, both Airtunes (music streaming) and wireless printing are available. -
I have no sound when playing music but ringtones and speak phone works!
I have an iPhone 4s and all of a sudden I cannot hear any sound when playing music or watching tv etc via my phone but I can hear my ringtone and text etc and I can also hear calls if I place them on speakerphone!
I have performed a hard reset and also plugged my phone into iTunes but this still hasn't solved the problem.
Unfortunately my phone has a cracked screen....totally unrelated to the sound problem as everything was working fine after I dropped the phone, however, as I have been informed, this has now invalidated the warranty from apple, even though I am not asking them to fix the screen, just the speaker, therefor I am not entitled to a new phone from apple! Anyway.....if anyone out there can help me in anyway, or can suggest anything that I can try to fix this problem, please, please let me know.
Many thanks in advance. My headphones work by the way.
Also, when I try to increase, or decrease the volume when playing music or trying to listen to something....even my videos, the buttons on the side do not adjust the volume or attempt to adjust it. I have gone into settings and sound and made sure my phone is not on mute and made sure the setting is checked so that the buttons on the side control the volume! I just don't know what to do! -

IPhone 4 won't play music in car when through USB when connected to Bluetooth aswell.
Hi Guys
Could someone help me. My iphone connects to my car through a USB connector and works fine. When I also connect to my car Bluetooth the sound dissapears after a minute or so. My display still shows the song playing but no sound. I can still go through play lists change track etc but no noise. If I unplug the cable and plug back in again it will work again and after another minute or so the sound cuts out again. Sometimes it won't play at all.
It seems to work fine if the bluetooth isn't connected although I have not tested this extensively.
I have tried in 2 other cars to make sure it isn't a fault with the car and I get the same result.
It isn't linked to any software upgrade.
Has anybody else heard of this or know a solution????
Thanks
Michael.Hi
Just to update for the last time. I have realised that if the bluetooth is paired to the car the music sound either does not play or plays for around a minute then cuts out. This still happens even if I disconnect the bluetooth connection. However if I delete the phone completely out at the car and cancel the pairing, the music plays fine no issues.
I guess somehow it is therefore based around the bluetooth. I have checked all menus I can find on the car and the phone to make sure there is no setting wrong somewhere. I cannot understand why it plays for a short time and then stops, seems like an intermittant fault ???
Thanks

Since updating my Iphone to ios 8, my hands free in the car (Radiosat) is not working correctly. The phone pairs ok with car, and my phone is recognised but then it cuts off the radio and says that I'm in a call, I can't cancel the call or do anything. I have taken my car to my local dealer but they say the Radiosat is working ok?
Hello there stidhambr15,
I was researching the issue you are having and recommend a couple of things. First it might be a good idea to reset the device following iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting found here http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't quite get the device going again, I recommend restoring the device.
iTunes: Restoring iOS software

Might even be a good idea to turn off the phone, reseat the SIM card, and turn it back on.

I have just purchased a 2006 Volvo with Bluetooth. I have paired my phone with the car to make phone calls. I don't have a way to play my iTunes music through the cars audio system. Is there a special auxiliary adapter that I need to buy?
Nobody have notice this problem or have a tip for that?

Hi I use my phone for conference calls and use the microphone jack to connect to speakers. It doesnt work when making phone calls but when i play music on the phone the jack works with the external speaker.
Happy to have been of help. Hope all goes smoothly.
BTW, for the sake of others who may help you here, it's usually most polite if you mark the post that answered your question as being the one that "solves" it, not your own post. That's how people get points here, if a questioner marks their post as either "helpful" or "solving". It's not an issue for me, but for those just starting out in the forums it may be important to them. See:

Is there any way to have my iPod Touch automatically start playing music when it connects to my car stereo via Bluetooth?
Also, I would like the option to connect to my car stereo as media only and not as a phone. My car stereo supports the ability to connect to a phone via Bluetooth simultaneously with another device such as my iPod Touch as a media source. The problem is that if my iPod Touch connects first it will force out my phone from connecting via Bluetooth since it connects as a phone as well as media. I have been able to make this whole setup work by turning both my phone's Bluetooth off and my iPod Touch's Bluetooth off. Then turning my phone's Bluetooth on first and allowing it to connect. Then changing the Bluetooth option on my phone to only connect as phone. Then turning my iPod Touch's Bluetooth on and that works just fine. Both devices respond perfectly but for that to work I have to do that process everytime I get into my car. Is there anyway to set this up so I don't have to go through all of this hassle?
Btw my iPod Touch has been updated to version 4.3.5.
Any suggestion, comments, or concerns would be helpful.
Thanks,
JonIf you store itunes andn iphoto library on the TC you could be in trouble. The TC has no auto backup mechanism.. it is simply unable to work as a true NAS. It has no media servers. It is slow.. it is very easy to corrupt libraries especially in connection over wireless. In general we recommend people do not do this.
If you go ahead anyway.. apple have specific instructions for moving the libraries.. do follow it.
I am not sure if the SONOS can play directly from itunes library or has to use an itunes server.. remember the TC is a dumb as a board router with no media servers. Apple TV also need an active itunes to work AFAIK.. you cannot play files.. unless you JB the ATV.
Also be careful as SONOS does not like apple names.. use all SMB compatible names.. short, no spaces pure alphanumeric.
Finally yes,.. at last .. you can extend the wireless in the TC using another apple router.. you cannot extend wireless using any other brand. -
My ipod wont play music solely through ear phones it will only play through the main speaker and the earphones together. Is this able to be fixed??
I am also experiencing some problems with the new software version, I bought the Belkin TuneBase for my car 25 days ago it had been working fine since I upgraded my Ipod 2 days ago, you know that sometimes if you don't get good reception you can change to a diferent preseted station on this Belkin Transmitter but since this Ipod upgrade I can't change to a diferent station and also i can't disconect it like before because before it said you were ok to disconect and I'm afraid to return because perhaps afterall is a software problem.

IOS 8 update and playing music in car
SSince I upgraded to iOS 8 yesterday, my iPhone 5 no longer plays music in the car. It connects and I can make and receive calls via Bluetooth and it shows my phone on the screen but then just says Play underneath. I can't get the music to play.
Glad you found a solution...I upgraded to iOS8 on my iPHone 5, didn't have any Bluetooth issues, but still have plenty of USB issues with my vehicles I hope we get a solution soon.

I keep trying to play music and it just randomly stops, and when I don't want to play music it randomly starts playing! Why is this? Is this because of iOS 7? or is it because of the phone itself?
Try to do a reset. Hold down on the Hold and Home keys for about 10 seconds until the shows.
If that doesn't work, you should try to do a restore. A restore re-installs the operating system. Plug your phone in and go to the phone preferences screen in iTunes. There is a restore option. After restore iTunes gives you an option to restore from backup or use as a new phone. I would first try to see if the problem vanishes if you do the restore from backup option. If the problem still exist, you might want to restore again and opt for the use as a new phone. This is because maybe a file in the backup is corrupt and you cannot use the backup. This means all of your saved texts, photos, settings, etc will be gone. You can resync most of the data back if you have them on your computer (not your text messages though). So think twice before restoring as a new phone. Also, there is a risk that restoring won't resolve your issue so think twice. I can tell you that I have everything on my computer and I can get most of the data back even if I restore as a new phone but everyone is different. -
Any ideas how to play iPad music via tv and use ipad at the same time?
I am using ArkMC app to play music from my iPad on my sony bravia tv. But when I come out of the app to say use safari, the music stops streaming. I really want to play music and use my iPad together. Any ideas?.
the app have to support background play or when one move on it will stop playing
if you use an appletv you can use airplay but it will not just play the music it will play any sound your ipad would otherwise play so if you start the music and expect to be able to play a game on the ipad while the music play you will be disappointed -
IPhone 4 stops playing music through AUX and/or Bluetooth
I recently updated to 5.1.1 and my phone will stop playing music through the headphone/AUX jack. Pulling out the cord and plugging it back in reinitiates the music, but it will stop soon afterwards again. The song is still playing (becauseplay icon still up). Thought it was a problem with the cord, but other iPhones (not updated--friends phones) work just fine for long periods with no interruption.
I checked out the headphone jack looking for lint or debris and did not find any, so I did a restore. After restore of phone same problem, random cutting out using the headphone jack.
This morning it is doing the same cutting out while playing music with my Bluetooth Bose speaker... so I tested it with my physical stereo system dock, again, music cuts out...
What is going on with my phone?
(Keep in mind that I've tested all my music devices--Bluetooth speaker, physical stereo dock, and car aux jack/cord with other NON-updated iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S with no problems like the one I am having.)
Thank you.I can confirm that I have exactly the same issue - music cuts out when using headphones. Sometimes it goes from play to stop and I can click play to start it again. Other times it stops (but is still playing) and I have to unplug and plug the headphone jack in again. Seemed tgo start after turnign on iTunes Match - Although the songs that stop are not in the cloud - they are on my phone. I have disabled itunes match to see if that will help and will report back...
