Playing music in car with iPhone is not easy!

I'm still using my old iPod Classic when in my car as I find the physical 'press' of a button easier (and safer) to use than having to look down to my iPhone to locate the correct area of the screen to touch to get to the next song or playlist etc.
But, maybe I'm missing something? Surly lots of people are using their touch screen phones in the car these days to listen to music via iTunes or Spotify. So does anyone know of a simple way to move forwards and backwards through songs without having to take my eyes off the road?
THANKS

Ah Shucks.  Sorry, obviously you can use the remote control on any standard headphones to skip forward (you double click the centre pause/start/stop button), everyone knows that right? ....but when I connect it to a headphone doubler to allow headphone control whilst still piping the other output to the car stereo it fails.  This is because my doubler/splitter only doubles the left and right audio channels, not the third prong* which mediates the remote control.  Find a headphone doubler which has left/right AND the third prong and you'd probably be set!!
So I guess>>>> you could just wear headphones and use that remote control whilst you drive!!
*technically the standard old fashioned headphone socket had left/right and "earth" or "common", but the newer iPhone type have left/right/earth AND an extra one.  The extra one can do various things depending on the usage, but relaying mono microphone and/or simple remote control functions is the most common.

I purchased music on my computer with old email address, same computer new email address, but I get play music becasue it tells me computer not authorized...how do you authorize???

I have almost the exact same problem. I have a bunch of music, ringtones, TV shows, movies... stuff that I purchased that I can't authorize. All of these items were purchased with the same account I'm still using now. The difference is that I've changed my email address. I don't have the original email address from when I made those purchases and I'm unable to authorize them. I can see that when I view info on one of these purchases the "Account Name: " has my old email address... not my iTunes or Apple account. So, if I'm authorizing my iTunes using my new email none of these older purchases will work.
I'm really curious how to fix this. I've got quite a few purchases from years back that I'd like access to, but I can't authorize using my new email/iTunes or my old email (the one used for the original purchases).
Take a look at the info and tell me if you see "Account Name:" on one of your purchases. And is that associated to your old email address? There has to be a way to fix this or 'transfer' older purchases, especially if it's all under the same real 'account'.

  • I want my iPad to play over my car speakers  I do not want a frequency transmitter device.  Do I have any alternatives.  I am not sure about adapters.

I second what Thoma said. If there is the little headphone in, then you can buy a cord to plug the headphone out of your ipad into the input in your car.
Failing that, see if you can pair via blue tooth.
Or the fallback is an FM transmitter. I've used one of these for years. In fact, the one i use was meant to go with a MP3 player that broke years ago. They're very simple. the transmitter sends the music out of your ipad 'out' on a specified frequency (due to radio stations these transmitters often have many frequencies to choose from) you then tune y our radio to that specific frequency and you hear your ipad.
Occasionally, if you're driving cross country, you may need to tweak the frequency (if you get within range of an existing station using that same frequency) but they're very easy to use.
I often take motorpool cars, so I just carry with me the transmitter and a 1/8-1/8 cord and I'm set for any situation i find myself in

  • My iPod shuffle could be seen on iTunes, but it cannot be charged and don't play music. The battery light do not flash at all.

Like what I mentioned, the iPod do not work, it won't play music and the battery light do not flash.
But it shows in iTunes, and I could sync music into it.
I tried to reset all the settings of the iPod, and installed all the new software, but it does not work.
I don't know if it works before, my friend left it to me. I erased all the data she used before and syncronized all my music inside.
But it just never worked in my hand...
I really appreciate all feedbacks! Thanks and please answer this question if you have the similar situation!!

Are you using the USB docking cable that came with the iPod?  There are separate contact points for power and data, so it is possible for the cable to connect for data, but not for power.  Some third-party replacement cables may be of lower quality, if you do not have the original cable
However, it seems to be getting power, since the shuffle is operating when connected and you are able to sync when it is connected.  So I think your USB docking cable is working.
That leaves a problem with the USB port or a problem on the shuffle.
For the USB port, it may not be supplying sufficient power to charge the battery.  As a test, you should shut down (power off) the computer and disconnect all USB devices, including hub, except for standard keyboard and mouse (if normally used).  If the Mac is a laptop, connect its power adapter (so that it's not running on battery power).  Do this to reset the shuffle

Start up the Mac, run iTunes, and connect the shuffle to a direct USB port on the Mac.  Any difference...?
If that does not help, it may be a problem with the shuffle, such as a worn out battery.

Is anyone having a problem with iPhone 5 not backing up to iCloud. No problem at first now it says it will take 35 hrs, etc to back up.

Thanks for the swift reply, I have been looking online and a loose plug seems to be somewhat of an issue with many, I hope mine is actually a problem and not what others are experiencing. It's taken me this long to even reach out for the simple fact I HATE being a complainer but this is just horrible.
Do you have an iPad 3 as well? And is yours not experiencing any issues close to mine?
    Thanks again!

  • Photos uploaded through icloud control panel are only synced with iphone but not with ipad

Photos which are uploaded through icloud control panel are only synced with iPhone but not with iPad. Photos taken with iPhone or iPad are synced with all devices. So, why I do not get the uploaded photos from my pc to iPad? I alredy disabled photo stream on all devices - same failure

If only one device is not getting updated data, you need to troubleshoot that device and not photostream itself.
Verify that ipad is connected to wifi, charged over 20 percent, camera app is closed and take a photo of the screen (or anything else, but then close that camera app).
Open photostream folder on that ipad and see if picture shows up. If you network is good, should not take long.
Don't forget that while your phone can use wifi and cellular (even it suppose to use wifi for photostream, cellular networks got much better since original photostream was implemented) - you ipad is probably wifi only.
If picture shows up - you ipad and photostream have no problems and you can go to other devices one by one.

  • Having a party - How can we play music from other people iPhones using apple tv?

We are having a party and want people to be able to play music from their own iphones/ipods using our apple tv. is this possible?

either mirror the iphone on to your apple tv or when they are logged into your internet via wifi. If they open their Itunes, the airplay button should appear for them. Just make sure they are connected to your network.

  • Why can I not play music in car utilizing aux jack?

I have a new IPhone 5 that will not play through the AUX jack on my 2010 Honda Accord.  Any ideas?

Trouble shooting here so please don't take offense at what might seem to be basic questions.
Can you hear through your earbuds when plugged into the phone jack on your iPhone?
Is the sound turned on on the side of the phone?  If you can see orange on the sound switch it is turned off.
Have you tried to restart your phone?  Press both Home and Sleep/Wake buttons at the same time and wait for Apple logo to appear? (LIke rebooting a PC)
Can you check the jumper cable you are using in car with another device to make sure it works? (We had to buy a  male to male adapter with a smaller diameter tip to connect my wifes iPhone 4S to the Aux port in her car because the tip on the actual cable was too wide at the top. But that was because of the size of the opening in her case)

  • Purchased music with iphone but not seeing on my macbook

I purchased a song from iTunes with my iPhone 4 ( Verizon - 4.2.8) but it is not showing up on my MacBookPro. Is it because the iCloud Beta is not active with the Verizon iPhone?!!

I have  the same issue with a Verizon iPhone 4s. bought a song with it a couple of days ago. Still hasn't shown up on my Macbook Pro running Lion. Automatic downloads is turned on on both devices. I notice that in iTunes on the Mac, under "Stroe" on the left side, my iPad, my wife's iPad and my Apple TV are listed, but the iPhone is not.

  • Playing music in car and using phone

Sorry if this thread exists, I was not able to find it
Currently using AUX for iphone music playback in my car but have to unplug it when using the phone.
What's the best way for me to be able to play music in the car and be able to use the phone without having to unplug it everytime?
If I get a BT headset can I plug iphone to AUX and llisten to music and answer a call?
    so confused....

Michael, i've heard different experiences with this. The bluetooth idea may work or may not. That just depends on whether the iPhone still recognizes your AUX line as the "headphones". In that case, it won't work.
See if you have a friend with bluetooth earpiece that you can borrow and try this out.
Perhaps some 3rd party company like Belkin or someone else will come up with a solution to this. Only time will tell. And the iPhone economy will grow exponentially
