Playing Part of a song

I am making a play list for a Halloween party and I am including some scary sound effects. Some of the sound-effect files are rather lengthy, so I want to play only part of them at a time. What I have done is to put the same scary song on the list several times. What I would like to do is to play the first minute of a song, then later in the list play between the first and second minute and so on. The porblem is that when I modify the start/stop time for a song it affects all of the copies.
Hoping for help.....

Hello scp1usa,
And welcome to Apple Discussions!
I was in a similar situation once. I realized that changing the start/stop time would affect each copy in the playlist I was building. So in order to make it work, I had to create several copies of the one track in iTunes, and change each according to how long I wanted it to play. It worked quite well.
At least that is one way to do it.
Hope this helps.

My iPhone 4S is only playing part of a song and then stops, sometimes plays whole song but for the most part it just stops randomly

Now it's Wednesday (2 days since I originally posted) & my iPhone appears to have finally restored all my apps, but it still says it's restoring from iCloud backup.  If all my apps are restored, what else could it be restoring?  IS it actually restoring anything at this point, or is it still in 'glitch' mode???  I've tried turning it off & back on & it continues to say that it's restoring.

  • Only plays part of first song.

i have everything updated and everything but after the first part of a song it goes back to home screan

    Thats a bugin the software.
You can solve it if you restart your device.
If this doesn't help you have to restore it, unfortunately

  • Ipod mini only plays part of a song! I need help!!!

Whenever I'am listening to a song my ipod will just play 1/3 of that song and restart or turn off. It's really annoying. If anyone knows what to do please tell me!!!!!!!!!!

I have the same problem on many songs in my 8GB NAno.
Many Songs in my Nano do not play completely. These songs played ok on my PCs and on my 20G iPod. The bad songs would play for several seconds to couple of minutes, then the play back would stop and my Nano would jump to the next song. Those bad songs were ripped from my own CDs and not downloaded from the web.
Note that I have used 2 versions of iTunes (7.0x) and 3 version of iPod software. They are all in MP3 format and less than 5 minutes long.
I have reset & restored the Nano and reload all the songs (about 7.4G in my 8G NANO). The problem remains. I have purchased another 8G Nano and reload all the songs. The problem remains. I have reset the new Nano and reload the songs using the USB cable from my iPod, the problem remains. All the 'bad' songs would play OK in my PCs and iPod.
As this is my second Nano and third USB cable used to transfer the song, the only remaining causes of the problem is the Dell PC or the Nano firmware/ software.
Out of the the 7GB of music in my Nano, I estimate there may be over 100 songs that are bad (as I have not play thru all of my songs). I do not think it is worth my time to re-rip all the bad songs from my CDs, so the only 2 things left to do is to restore the Nano and reload the song from my desk top PC; Or return the Nano to Apple.
    Any ideas or suggustions?
    Thanks

  • Only plays part of a song

song plays fine on computer but only plays the begining on ipod.anybody else have this problem?

This has happened to me once, it turned out, for some strange reason, the song that I downloaded was in MP3, but it was as a podcast..Which was very weird, whenever I play it it plays from the middle or something, so I had to download the actual song again... Go to ur itunes, and go to podcasts from ur ipod that is, and make sure that the song is there or not... then delete it if it is :- )
Dunno if this helps but I tried :- )

  • HT1725 Only plays part of a song

I purchased a song, and it says that the entire song is downloaded, but it only plays about 30 seconds before going to the next song.  This happens in both iTunes and on my iPod.  Any suggestions?

Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past music purchases, delete the broken tracks from your iTunes library, close and then reopen iTunes, go to the iTunes Store home page, click the Purchased link from the Quick Links section in the right-hand column, then select Music and Not on this computer. You should find download links for your tracks there.
While downloading select Downloads in the left-hand column and make sure Allow Simultaneous Downloads is unticked.
If the problem persists, or that facility is not yet available in your region, contact the iTunes Store support staff through the report a problem links in your account history, or via Contact Support.

  • IPhone plays part of a song then starts next

So i was listening to a song then all of a sudden it switches to the next song, when it happened to be right in the middle of the song. In iTunes the song has worked perfectly, and on other iPods, but on my iPhone it does this to a variety of songs. WHat i can do is go to the song and seek past the point it skips and itll play, but thats a hassle. Anyways i tested converting the song from mp3 to acc on iTunes, that seemed to fix the problem, however acc files are about 2x larger than mp3s so its hard to manage on an iPhone. Advice?

    You're welcome.
I don't know if there is another way to resolve this. All my music imported into iTunes from a music CD was imported using AAC High Quality (128 kbps). I have no problems playing any of this music on my iPhone.
SO acc could be 2x the size depending on the quality.
No - a music file should be smaller in size using AAC - comparing the same song imported using MP3 Good Quality (128 kbps), which is the lowest setting for importing using MP3, to AAC High Quality (128 kbps) which is the lowest setting for importing using AAC.
All music purchased from the iTunes Store which includes DRM protection, is imported using AAC High Quality (128 kbps).
Copied from this link under - Get the best quality compression when importing music.
    http://www.apple.com/support/ilife/tutorials/itunes/it1-2.html
+When importing CDs with iTunes, iTunes will save your songs in a near CD quality format known as Advanced Audio Coding (AAC). *AAC is the format of songs purchased from the iTunes Music Store. AAC provides higher quality with smaller file sizes than another popular format known as MP3.*+

  • I just downloaded 15 songs, almost half will only play parts of the songs. Some only will play 2 seconds!! How do I fix this? Apple doesn't exactly have a customer service number and I've already paid for my purchases. This has never happened before.

I just downloaded 15 songs to my ipod and only about half will fully play. The others only play a minute or two with some only playing for seconds. I have never had this happen before. There isn't exactly a customer service number for apple so I'm not sure what to do. I'm pretty irritated sonce I've paid for all of them. Please help!!!

I would delete them from your library and then redownload them from the iTunes Store.
Steps/instructions on how to redownload them can be found here:http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519

  • TS1362 downloaded song stops playing part way into song

A song I downloaded stops playing about 80 seconds into the song - what can i do to fix this?

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copy of the track and try redownloading a fresh one. See the following document for instructions:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the item, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.

  • How come itunes only downloaded part of a song?

I bought a a couple of albums off of itunes and on one song (that i know of) on each album only plays part of the song. For example: if you have a 3:45 song it will only play 2:35 of the song and then it cuts off and moves onto the next song on the album. Can anybody help with this problem. I want my moneys worth. Thanks.

Delete the tracks from the iTunes library, allowing iTunes to move the track files to the Trash. Then download the tracks again from the iTunes Store via this procedure:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519
That fixes the problem for many people. If problems with the tracks persist, go here:
    iTunes Support
and follow the instructions to report the issue to the iTunes Store.
    Regards.

  • Only parts of my songs from itunes match are downloading onto my phone.  The full song plays fine on computer but not on iphone

I recently purchased Itunes match to download some of the songs from my library onto my phone.  Everything downloaded fine.  At least I thought, until I tried to listen to my music on my phone.  I found that some of the songs that were downloaded from the itunes match are not fully there.  The full song plays fine on my computer, however on my phone it will only play a part of the song and then immediately cut off and skip to the next song, while the display still says the other song should be playing.  I tried turning off the itunes match and just re-synching the music from my computer itunes library to my phone but still encounerted the same problem.  Is there an easier way of fixing this, or do I have to basically restore my whole phone?

Did you let the scan in iTunes finish before you enabled the service on the iPhone? If not you need to. Disable iTM on the iPhone, then launch the Music app and let the content clear out. Once the scan is complete in iTunes re-enable iTM on the iPhone.

  • When unlocking an iPhone while a song is playing in iOS 7, the player skips to a different part of the song, has anyone else experienced this problem?

If I am playing a song in iOS 7 while the phone is locked, unlocking the phone seems to cause the Music app to skip to a different part of the song.  It seems to be a random placement, sometimes ahead; sometimes back; sometimes very close to where it was, but rarely a continuous feed.  Anyone have a clue what might be happening? Shake to Shuffle is off, only the Home Button has been touched.  I also noticed that the display on the lock screen may be indicating where the playback will go once the phone is unlocked.  Thanks for your help!

In reading other threads, I found a few that recommend a hard reset to solve the issue.  I have tried it, and thus far haven't expereienced the problem again.  Hopefully that's it then
