Playing Ping-Pong ... aka Verizon Won't Support the "Verizon WiFi" Service Activation App

This post concerns the Verizon service called, "Verizon WiFi," which is introduced at the following web-page:
http://www.verizon.com/wifi
The service is explained in the following page:
http://www22.verizon.com/Support/Residential/internet/highspeed/networking/setup/wifi/124612.htm
The so-called "quick and easy" process to register and activate has occupied more than sixteen hours of time - so far - and regrettably, shows no signs of ever working. Two chat sessions, six (mostly marathon) CS calls, and I still can not find anyone who is inclined to fix the real problem, namely:
The "WiFi Activation" application (or wizard) will not accept as valid any user name that I type.
No matter what I enter into the User Name field (including the random strings provided by technical support in India), the application reports, "User name contains one or more invalid characters." Tried it 15 to times on multiple PCs ... always with the same results, "User name contains one or more invalid characters."
Telephone support is frustrating ... at best. Verizon DSL Dept. transfers me to VZ Wireless Dept., who eventually transfers me back to VZ DSL, who the transfers me to VZ FIOS Department, and then back to Wireless ... and so on. As y'all know, several of these transfers were to India and back.  Last night (28 May) the trouble-ticket was escalated for action, and I was assured that I'd be contacted with the problem resolution..
I was not contacted.
This evening, I tried again.  After lots more 'customer ping pong,' and repetition of yesterday's experiences, I was eventually told that the ticket (VAHM01NN**) had been closed. What gives? Why would an unresolved problem ticket be closed?
How about it, Verizon reps who read this?
Can one of y'all VZ reps help solve the problem with activating WiFi service so I can "Enjoy nationwide Wi-Fi access in select areas at over 5,000 hotspot locations -- at no extra charge" as trumpeted on the web-site? What office is responsible for technical support of the "WiFi Activation" application (named like the following, VZ.WIFI_2013_2013_29_10_12_44_8741ghu.app)?
Please help a brotha' out!
BTW.  Every technician wants to dick around with my DSL modem ... instead of addressing the real problem.  Please fix the flow-chart so that "Verizon WiFi" and "Verizon commericial WiFi hotspots" are addressed correctly!

I have this service running and it was not a simple setup.  I cannot make a particular suggestion right now for your case, but I thought this link might help:
http://forums.verizon.com/t5/FiOS-Internet/TRYING-TO-REGISTER-FOR-WI-FI-FROM-Ipad/m-p/580463
Perhaps between the two of  you, you'll encounter a resolution.  Good luck.
Edit:  After submitting my post on your issue, I discovered that you have initiated 3 separate threads on the same subject.  Of course I had no way of knowing this prior to posting, and I found this confusing.  Subsequently I realized that I'm unlikely to be able to help.  In any case, best of luck.

I asked if AVCHD files can be played on Mac and the support site says to simply click on the icon and quick time will play it. A big lie. Just say it won't support the file type and tell us what apps to get. anybody?

I also had issues opening AVCHD files on case-sensitive filesystems.
You can try these steps to solve the issue:
Right click on the AVCHD file and select 'Show Package Contents'
Right click on the BDMV file and select 'Show Package Contents'
Rename index.bdm to INDEX.BDM (it seems that all files in the BDMV folder should be in UPPERCASE for Quicktime to open the AVCHD file).
Go back twice and try again to double-click on the AVCHD file (Quicktime should open a window showing the multiple clips, as expected).

my 3g won't see the available wifi networks. What do i do now? The phone is recieving texts but won't see my wi fi and says I'm not connected to a cellular data provider

    Try the following:
    1. Turn router off for 30 seconds and on again
    2. Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    3. Reset iPad; hold the Sleep and Home button down until you see the Apple Logo

  • Part II - Playing Ping-Pong ... now with KaLin?

    Just call me flummoxed ...
I went to my "profile page for the forum" by clicking on my name. (So far so good)
I looked "at the top of the middle column," (Puzzled, I search for KaLin's promised support.)
THERE IS NOTHING REMOTELY RESEMBLING "an area titled "My Private Support Cases," nor any selection that leads to "My Private Support Cases."
THERE IS NO LINK to "the private board where you and the agent may exchange information."
And thus, it seems like the ping-pong game continues ...
I used to wonder why nobody responded to their original posts with updates.  It appears that moderators prevent this from happening.
Eager for assistance, I remain yours sincerely,

  • Meters are playing ping-pong. Argh!

I know I'm missing something very simple. I am trying to acquire voltages in parallel from 2 Agilent 34401, serial ports 3 and 4. I'm only triggering 1/sec, but the meters acquire back and forth, ping-pong style. I don't understand this. Both are getting the same trigger. I only need to do a simple A/B math function but can't since both voltages need to be read at the same time. This is driving me nuts.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Have you built a table of values that go to your meters?
Since you are reading a single point, your meters are showing that value.  If at each iteration the values are:
    5
    1
    8
    3
    8
    5
    8
    6
    3
    8
    6
    9
    2
    6
    4
On a scale of 0 to 10, you will notice the needle going back & forth.
For the same scale (0 - 10), if some of your values are over 10:
    5
    12 > 2
    8
    3
    9
    11 > 1
    8
    9
    12 > 2
    8
    11 > 1
    9
    10
    11 > 1
    10
    12 > 2
    9
    11 > 1
and so on...  it will be an even more pronounced "ping pong"

  • ADOBE FLASH PLAYER WON'T SUPPORT THE BEAN

Adobe System said in a Article it Will Not Support Android 4.1..
    http://www.engadget.com/2012/06/28/adobe-confirms-it-wont-support-flash-on-android-4-1/

Adobe announced they would no longer supporting mobile flash late last year.  It wasn't even going to support ICS but Google talked adobe into it.  Flash content will still work for those that already have the plugin on compatible devices.  After August 15th you won't be able to download it from the Play Store except for updates for those that already have it.  Devices launching with ICS may have it included as they're probably already certified but you're out of luck on any devices that launch with Jelly Bean.  It may still function on a device that upgrades from 4.0 to 4.1 but that's not guaranteed.

  • My computer won't support the new iTunes, but my friend's will. If I update my iPod touch to ios 5 or later, will the older iTunes be able to support my iPod?

My iPod has apps and music that I really don't want to lose. My iTunes at home is the older version and won't update to iTunes 11. If I update my iPod to ios 6  will the iTunes at home (the one that can't update to iTunes 11)-- support my iPod touch if I update it to ios 6 or later?-- meaning that will my iTunes be able to transfer my music and apps back to my iPod? Like, will it be able yo support it?

    - First try a rset. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next try restoring from backup

  • My Mac OS, 10.5.8, won't support the most recent Firefox and I need the most recent version it WILL support and how to get it, as it's not on this site.

I need a way to get a more recent but not current version of Firefox that my computer, a PowerPC processor Mac, will support. I am running OS X version 10.5.8. This processor/computer will not run Lion and the most recent version of Firefox will not run on it either.
On my second computer, same type, a newer version of Firefox crashes constantly while in Yahoo!

Firefox 3.6.x is the last available from Mozilla for PPC Macs. <br />

  • My Mac 10.5.8 won't support the Firefox 5.0.1. Is there another Firefox version that I can download?

Please tell me what version of Firefox my computer is compatible with.

Firefox 3.6 is still supported at present see: http://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all-older.html

  • Hi.  I have OSX 10.7.5 I'm trying to upgrade iphoto so photostream will sync photos between my devices.  My system won't support the latest version of Iphoto.  Is it possible to upgrade to iphoto 9.4 (or later)?  Thanks.

What version of iPhoto are you trying to update from?  You need iPhoto 9.2.2 or later and OS X 10.7.5 to use "My Photo Stream".
Your Macbook, model 7,1, will run Mavericks which is a free upgrade.  If you currently have iPhoto 9 then the upgrade to the iPhot0 9.5 from the App Store will be free.
If you currently are running iPhoto 8 (09) then you'll need to purchase a copy of the iLIfe 11 disk from an  online retailer and install iPhoto 9.  Then, if you've upgraded to Mavericks you can upgrade free to 9.5.
If you keep OS X 10.7.5 you'll still need a copy of the iLIve 11 disk to install iPhoto 9.0 and then update it to iPhoto 9.4.3 thru the updaters available here: Apple - Support - Downloads

  • I downloaded Firefox 4, have a Mac Powerbook G4 with OS X and firefox downloads, but opens with an X on the symbol and won't work, says architecture won't support - what is up?

Have tried 4 times to download Firefox 4 and each time it seems to be working OK, but when I go to move the firefox symbol onto the Application symbol, the firefox symbol has an X in an O indicating that it won't work and doesn't. Note says that the architecture won't support the new download. Can I get the update and if so, how? Dave Morrison

Firefox 4 doesn't run on a PowerPC Mac.
Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac.

go away. u just dont want to helpFuck off jackfuck.
You whined the same thing in the other thread when people asked for code tags. You have also got lots of actual advice and suggestions in your other thread and ignore them all.
Crossposting is rude but I suppose we should not expect any better from you because so far all you have demonstrated on this site is that you are rude, incredibly stupid and lazy.

  • Can't use trial - error message: "architechture" won't support program

I have run CS4 photoshop on my Macbook Pro - but now I can't run the trial of either photoshop or dreamweaver - the error says the architecture (of my machine) won't support the program. I'm wondering if anyone knows a work around. I called apple - they say that Adobe just hasn't gotten the trials to work with the newer operating systems of OSX. If that is true it seems like bad business since photoshop is their flagship graphics program and Mac are the graphics computers.

Ask in the Photoshop Mac forum.
