Playing podcasts continuously......

I didn't see a "Podcast" section, so I'll ask this question here.
I have started using my iPhone to play my podcasts. I used to use the shuffle and just dragged them into a playlist. Then....they would play one after the other without stopping.
On the iPhone, I am using the checkboxes to select which podcasts the iPhone syncs up with. But now they don't play one right after the other. After each podcast, it stops, and I have to go into the iPhone and start the next one.
Is there any way to make it play one after the other on the iPhone? Would I have to do it manually and make a playlist like I did before? How do I do that on the iPhone? I saw the "manually manage music and videos" checkbox, but I wasn't sure if that would do the trick.
Thanks for any help on this.

You will need to create a playlist to play different podcasts in a continuous fashion. You can do it either manually, or with a smart playlist.
Once you have the playlist, plug in your iPhone, and choose the Music tab from the iPhone summary screen. Make sure you click the checkbox next to your playlist to sync it to the iPhone.
I have a smart playlist that collects all my audio podcasts in one place. I then choose the ones I want to listen to each day and copy them to a manual playlist I have titled "Daily Podcasts". The Daily Podcasts playlist is then synced to the iPhone.
To make this work really well, you need to turn on auto delete for the podcasts, so they are automatically deleted after you listen to them completely. That way, my Daily Podcasts list clears itself when I sync the iPhone at the end of the day, and I can drag a new set of podcasts into it.

  • How to play podcast continuously on the Apple TV

    Got it its okay. :)

  • Recently, my Ipod classic no longer plays grouped consecutive podcasts continuously.

recently, (I believe the since most recent update) my ipod classic no longer plays grouped consecutive podcasts continuously. In the past it work quite effectively.
I checked the shuffle switches, and they were all turned off.
None of the threads that seem to address this issue effectively.
Don't have this problems with my iPhone 4GS.
Does anybody know what gives?  Not real keen on Updating Software when options and features removed.

Did a restore without any media being put on, here are the stats, and the increase from the original posted:
    Retracts: 1                         (+0)
    Reallocs: 280                     (+64)
    Pending Sectors: 480         (+48)
    PowerOn Hours: 198          (+1)
    Start/Stops: 24856             (+50)
    Temp: Current 33c             (+6)
    Temp: Min 14c                   (+0)
    Temp: Max 54c                  (+0)
Although the hours, and temps don't matter much I included them anyway. Here are the stats after another restore, and all the media being added (increase from original, not last restore):
    Retracts: 1                         (+0)
    Reallocs: 400                     (+184)
    Pending Sectors: 48           (-384)
    PowerOn Hours: 198          (+0)
    Start/Stops: 24861             (+55)
    Temp: Current 36c             (+9)
    Temp: Min 14c                   (+0)
    Temp: Max 54c                   (+0)
The pending sectors went drastically down, which is awesome, lot less songs are skipping.. Except the reallocs went significantly up as well, I assume that would be due to the remaps of the pending sectors? And should I try more restores to see if that would help try to fix the problem, assuming it would be fixing desk/memory errors?

  • How do I set my iPod to play all ( continuously back to back) my podcasts without me having to select each one?

How do I set my IPod to play all my new podcasts continuously?

One possibility is to put them into a playlist in the desired order and then sync that playlist from your iTunes library to your iPod.

  • Is the 7th generation Nano capable of playing podcast's continuously?

Just purchased the 7th Generation Nano and have discovered it will only play one podcast at a time and not go to the next one in the order automatically.  After doing research, I have learned that I can get it to play all the podcast in order only after I have created playlists, this seems to be a bit akward.  Is this the only option there is?  I read on this forum where someone was having just the opposit issue, their Nano was playing all the podcasts one after the other without having to do it manually.

I am super intrigued by your question!
I have an ipod nano 7th gen and I can not play only one podcast at a time no matter how hard I try.
Searching the internet for information only finds people with the exact opposite problem of yours: everybody seem to only be able to play them continuously. That is what happens to me as well.
How are you able to play 1 podcast episode and have it stop right there when it ends?
I search every couple weeks to see if someone found the way but nothing ever comes up: your comment is the closest I have ever found. I would love to know how you do it.
    Thank you!

  • IPod shuffle 4th Gen. How to start playing podcast from the very beginning once again?

Hello to everybody in this forum,
I bought a new iPod shuffle 4th Gen music player for about two weeks ago. I love this device, it works great as well as it's sound quality amazes me after Windows Mobile 6.0 Phone, Transcend MP3 and even Samsung Galaxy Ace devices use experience. It's much better and it made me got used to podcasts feature I never tried before, But if I want to replay the very same podcast item from the very beginning - I simply don't know how to rewind it back. If I press next/prev buttons it doesn't help. The podcast itself starts to play at about 5 minutes before a podcast's end as if I were listened to the whole podcast continuously from the beginning of a podcast. A podcast appears to be divided into chapters and I don't understand how to switch chaprers. Even if I did, the amount of chapters is big and it's inconvenient to swith every chapter with prev button pressed. Shuffle's manual tells me nothing on how to get things work I want it to. Any help is appreciated.

  • Auto-removing played podcasts from a smart playlist

I'm wondering if anyone can help me figure out a way to do this. I have two smart playlists for podcasts. The first contains my favourite podcasts and they are removed from the playlist once they've finished playing. This works and I accomplished it like this (using two smart playlists):
Smart Playlist 1 - Favourite Podcasts Helper
    - Album is "Podcast A"
    OR
    - Album is "Podcast B"
    OR
    - Album is "Podcast C"
    etc
Smart Playlist 2 - Favourite Podcasts
    - Playlist is "Favourite Podcasts Helper"
    AND
    - Playcount is 0
As I say, it works great. It's annoying to have to have an extra playlist in there (necessary because you can't mix AND with OR conditions in a single smart playlist) but I prefix it with a "z" and it drops out of sight to the bottom.
Now, here's the problem. I want a playlist for all the other podcasts that DON'T appear in my favourites list and which ALSO removes played podcasts. I don't want to name them all because I don't want to have to remember to add each new podcast to the list because there are a lot of them and I always forget to add them when I load a new podcast onto the iPod.
    I tried to do this:
Playlist 3 - All Other Podcasts
    - Podcast is true
    AND
    - Playlist is not "Favourite Podcasts"
    AND
    - Playcount is 0
It works in so far as it collects all the right podcasts but it won't update, leaving played podcasts in the list. It WILL update if I remove the "Podcast is true" condition but that makes it useless. I tried splitting it up as in my Favourites playlist, moving the "Podcast is true" condition out into it's own playlist but that doesn't help. It seems that as long as a "Podcast" condition is in the chain somewhere, it stops it from updating.
Maybe this is a bug that will get squashed in the next firmware update. Until then does anyone have an idea of how to make it work without listing every single podcast album?

    I had previously tried
    Smart Playlist - all podcasts
    . podcast is true
    Smart Playlist - unheard podcasts
    . playcount is 0
    AND
    . playlist is all podcasts
And that didn't work, I guess because the first playlist won't update. After reading your post I thought that it ought to work the other way around if the playcount is being analysed first:
    Smart Playlist - anything unheard
. playcount is 0 (this works fine)
    Smart Playlist - unheard podcasts
    . playlist is anything unheard
But that won't work either. While the first playlist updates fine, the second one never updates and continues to display content that no longer appears in the playlist it is built on. Frustrating. I'm sure there must be a shortcut that hasn't occurred to me yet.

  • Removing played podcasts from iTouch

Does anyone have any advice on the best way to remove played podcasts from my touch? I have my synch settings set to sych only all unplayed. If I just delete the podcasts, they get added back in because iTunes doesn't see them as having been played. However, iTunes is not automatically deleting the podcasts that have been played from my touch. So now I'm in a situation where I have no space left on my touch because it's filled with podcasts that iTunes refuses to remove.
I'd be very interested in hearing how I can address this problem.
    thnx,
    Christoph

  • I want to play podcast episodes just once

I recently bought an ipod shuffle 4th generation to listen to podcasts but i've noticed that when it finishes playing all the episodes of a given podcast in continuous order it goes back to the first episode and begins to play it again even thought it had been already played. I wan to know if there is a way to make the ipod play all the episodes in order just once and not repeat already played podcasts.

I have the same repeating problem with my new 4th gen shuffle. I have tried a smart playlist, but when i click on my shuffle to choose what is sync'd with my ipod the smart playlists ive made with podcasts arent in the list of available playlists to add.
Help with this would be amazing, I'm a student and I clean a bank at night, listening to podcasts 30 hours a week. If I didn't have to press the voiceover button and skip 23456 times I would be very happy.

  • Listen to lots of short podcasts continuously?

My question in short: it is possible to listen to podcasts +as podcasts+ continuously (without manually choosing to play each one)?
There are two parts of the problem:
    1. I like to autosync my iPod. I can plug it in to charge and know that when I pick it up early in the morning for my 45-minute commute, it will have new stuff on it.
    2. A whole bunch of the podcasts I like are <5 minutes long. "60-second Science" is, well, about a minute long. That adds up to a whole heck of a lot of fiddling with my iPod.
I've tried solving problem 2 by making smart playlists that treat the podcasts as music (so they play in a row) with rules about refreshing the items, removing ones that have already been played, and so forth. But that exacerbates problem 1: the playlist always seems to be half things I've already listened to. I just want to listen to each episode of a podcast in a row without having to fish the iPod out of my bag. Is there some other way to do it?

  • IPod no longer removing played podcasts

Please help! this is driving me absolutely insane. I have my iPod sync settings set to: automatically include all unplayed episodes of selected podcasts. It used to work just fine, only syncing unplayed podcasts, and removing played podcasts. now it just adds the new unplayed podcasts but doesn't remove the played ones. i make sure that i listen to the podcast all the way through. i am not doing anything differently than i have ever done. help!!!

This just started happening to me.  I discovered after much playing around that the podcast will stay on the device even after being played if it is also listed on a Smart Playlist for which the rules don't include a rule based on the number of plays.  So, for instance, I recently added the Smart Playlists called "today" and "Recently Added".  If you command-click these, and Edit, you will see that the rules that define them do not include anything to filter out played episodes.  To each one I added "Plays is 0" and that fixed it.
Alternatively, with the device plugged in, click on the device name on the left side of iTunes, click Podcasts from the iTunes options (across the top, i.e., Summary...Info... Podcasts...), and on the Podcasts page, uncheck all Smart Playlists that may be checked.
    Hope this helps.

  • HT1689 How can I play podcasts on my iphone without using data?

How can I play podcasts on my iphone without using data?

I used to sync my podcasts to my phone individually, but found out that the Podcast app works better for me.  It continously downloads the podcasts (not really sure when, that's the only thing, when its downloading it may use data depending on where you are) and also deletes the ones i have listened to.  Hopefully that will help you out!
