Playing project on a HDTV

Why does the themes look very poor when playing a dvd player with a HDTV. Video good be better.

Hi
Can be more than one thing.
• Theme from iDVD or from iMovie or ?
If from iMovie'08 to 11 - Be cause non of them can deliver 100% interlaced SD-Video over to iDVD as is needed - only every second line resulting in a severe quality loss
Best result from iM'088 to 11 by
- NOT USING: "Share to iDVD" but
- "Share to Media Browser" - AND AS LARGE - NOT HD or other resolution as this too degrades the final result
• DVD - is as standard only - Interlaced SD-Video - and can never be any better
• Your Mac screen can show a much higher resolution than any DVD can keep (to be played on Standard DVD-player)
So please tell all steps You take from
• Video codec (Camera and it's setting)
• Video editor - in what quality
• iDVD - set to what quality, Brand and type of DVD used
and more - and we get a chance to be of help.

  • Do Not Continue Playing Project ?

    I created a demo in Captivate 2 and have added multiple buttons throughout the project to link files. My problem is that although I've deselected 'Continue Playing Project' the project does continue with every single button. I want the project to pause while other windows are open or until the viewer unpauses. Any idea what I am doing wrong?
    Thanks

    Hi there
    Does this happen on ALL PCs where you play the project or just a few? If just a few, check the Flash Player version. Perhaps it needs to be upgraded.
    If it happens on ALL PCs, it's possible that one, two or the complete project is corrupt.
    If I were in your shoes, I might test by creating a simple 3 slide project with Buttons. Just to ensure it works. If you see the same behavior, the PC or Captivate is suspect. If it works, the project is suspect.
    Where is the project when you are editing it? On your C drive or on a network drive? If on a network drive, close it and move it to your C drive. At least while editing. Editing projects while they are stored on a network drive is the cause for lots of issues. It's fine to keep a backup copy on a network drive. You just don't want to open one up and edit it while it's there.

  • What to do?  Premiere Pro CS5.5 has quit responding and won't play project.  Windows no recognize

    What to do when CS5.5 Premiere Pro does not respond.  Will not play project.  Seems to mess up even going to help.

    John,
    Great links on how to ask for help.  Thank you.    I recently installed a PNY quadro 2000 video card.  Have 24 gigs of ram, Areca Raid Card with Raid 5 with four hard drives in Raid 5, i7 920 cpu not overclocked.  Velociraptor C drive.  Everything seemed to be working fine until I returned to this video today and was to burn another copy on encore.  It did not function right and did not burn.  Went to see what was wrong and the whole thing seems to be acting strange.  I ran two virus checkers and nothing was reported.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.    Thank you.

  • Can I play my iMovie project on my hdtv via an HDMI cable and adapter?

    Greetings. Wondering if I can play my iMovie project directly from my MacBook Pro to my hdtv via an hdmi cable with adapter for the MacBook? Thank you!

    Hi Paul,
    The sound was coming out of the laptop and not out of the tv though
    Connect an audio cable from your Mac's audio out socket to the TV's audio in socket. Adapter cables often need audio to be connected separately. I had a similar problem connecting the mini display port to DVI cable, then DVI to HDMI adapter from there.

  • How Can I play iTunes on my HDTV without Apple TV?

    I am looking for an affordable method of playing iTunes on my big screen HDTV. In other words, I just want to mirror whatever is on my iMac screen on my HDTV. So I want ALL the iTunes features like the visualizer, randomizer, etc. to work without a hitch. Some people were saying they can't get the visualizer to work smoothly. And of course I want quality audio so I can utilize the soundbar on my TV to play MP3s.
    I do not own an Apple TV device but I own a Google TV device called the Vizio Co-Star.
    I was not able to find a Google app to simply mirror what's on my iMac onto my TV screen.
    I reseached and found that there are two apps I can purchase -  AirParrot and Reflector. Is this the best way of achieving what I want to do? Do I purchase both of them on my mac or do I need to purchase one of these and install on my Vizio Co-Star?
    Is there a better or simpler method? I'm up for suggestions.
    Thank you!

    It sounds as if you have an iMac that is over five years old, and therefore has a mini-display (instead of Thunderbolt, as found on newer iMacs) port.
    Have you considered a mini-display to HDMI cable connection?  Here is one (from the U.S. store):
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/HFQL2VC/A/moshi-mini-displayport-to-hdmi-adapt er-4k?fnode=51
    I am certain a Thunderbolt port would transmit audio as well as video.  I think the mini-display port may transmit audio, but I'm not 100% certain.

  • Custom Script to Play Project in Full Screen

    Hi,
    Adobe tech support sent me here to request a custom script to
    make a Captivate 3 project play in a full screen mode without
    getting the extra page on which the user is prompted to click on a
    link to open in full screen.
    Could someone please send me the script with instructions?
    Thanks!
    - Eric

    Hi Eric
    In addition to what Rick has posted, I found the below very
    helpful in a similar situation. It was submitted by jbradley88, so
    all credit goes that way:
    Full screen in the browser is only available by opening a new
    window (hence the "Full Screen" link) or by embedding a custom
    ActiveX control.
    I'd rule out the ActiveX option, since it's both technically
    challenging (I saw it done once, but don't know how) and would only
    work for Internet Explorer anyhow.
    That leaves the new window approach. A redirect is not an
    option... the "full screen" can only be applied while a window is
    first opening and even then only when the window is opened by
    Javascript.
    The best you could hope for is to open a page that
    immediately opens another page in full screen, adding some verbiage
    to the first page that says something like "The content has opened
    in a new window. It is safe to close this window".
    A sample "autolauncher" page is included below as an example.
    It does not make use of the window.open() method's "fullscreen"
    parameter since in IE6 that does not seem to give the user a way of
    closing the new window once it's open. You can easily change this
    by setting the parameter to yes in the code below.
    Attach Code
    <html>
    <head>
    <title>New Window Launcher</title>
    <head>
    </head>
    <body>
    <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript">
    var o =
    window.open("yourcontent.htm","newContentWin","fullscreen=no,left=0,top=0,width="
    + (window.screen.availWidth - 12) + ",height=" +
    (window.screen.availHeight - 36) +
    ",channelmode=no,directories=no,location=no,menubar=no,resizable=yes,status=yes,titlebar= yes,toolbar=no");
    if (o)
    window.document.write("The content has opened in a new
    window. It is safe to close this window.");
    o.focus();
    else
    window.document.write('Could not open the content in a new
    window. Please disable all popup blockers and try again.');
    </script>
    </body>
    </html>

  • Javascript to pause/play project

    So I created an HTML5 project with CP8 and have a button on top to pause play the movie connected to an advanced conditional action to pause and play. Here are the screen shots:
    This action works fine until a hyperlink or a button with external link is opened. After that the pause button needs to be held for 2 seconds and then released to actually pause the slide while the play function works instantly. This is being packaged into an App for review by the Apple store and I know they are going to have a field day with it.
    So the question is is there some javascript code that I can use to accomplish the same function
    Example On Click-> Execute JS
    Script:
    function playPause() {
        var mediaPlayer = document.getElementById('cp.movie');
        if (mediaPlayer.paused) {
            mediaPlayer.play();
        } else {
            mediaPlayer.pause();

    Never mind I changed things around and now everything works.
    Conditional actions crash when opening a link so avoid using them.

  • Command to run and begin playing project?

    For some plugin development tasks, it would be helpful if there were a command to load and begin playing a project at 100% zoom immediately upon AE starting up. I've been able to get AE to load my project by passing it as the first command line argument. Is there a way to then start playing immediately?

    Shachar is right, you'll need to use scripting for that.  Here's what I did from the command line on Windows:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CS5.5\Support Files>AfterFX -s "var my_file = new File('D:\\Test Files\\Projects\\AEP\\5.5.aep'); app.open(my_file); app.executeCommand(2285); app.exitAfterLaunchAndEval = false;"
    2285 is the command ID for RAM Preview, from the SDK Guide documentation for AEGP_DoCommand().

  • How do i?? Trying to make a slideshow with animat text to play on 16:9 HDTV

    ok. In a rush here.
    How do i setup my sequence so i can import photos and add animated text to create a 4 minute animated slideshow. The end result will be burned onto DVD and played on a 16:9 HD Plasma or LCDTV.
    What is the settings for the sequence?
    How do i export?
    What program should i use to burn to DVD?
    Do i need to go get a special DVD player to play this DVD?
    If done correctly will i get a clear image that will fit on a 16:9TV and look near HD quality?
    Thanks in advance to everyone!

    MAC PRO   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

    The DVD player you want to use will not deal with HD DVD's... so you need to make an SD project in the end.
    Set your sequence settings to DVCPROHD 1080i 60... Edit in that sequence. The jitter in your stills could be caused by a number of things, but normally if you will downsize the pictures to a size not much bigger than your sequence settings' size they may well look a lot better. In the case of the DVCPROHD settings above, you'd make them no larger than 1500 pixels in either direction, and no larger than 300 dpi... they must also be RGB stills not CMYK... You need Photoshop or similar to change them and resize them with... make sure their format is RGB and not much larger than what I've suggested for size. Tiffs or Picts work better than JPEGs too. JPEG's take a lot longer to render...
    If these stills are smaller than that to begin with... might be best to use the standard DV NTSC anamorphic sequence setting, and the following workflow would work for either case. It's just that the HD settings would keep things in a higher resolution to start with, and the better you start with, the better the end product will be. Using uncompressed HD settings would be even better, but it takes a pretty serious mac setup to deal with these huge files. Fast array for playback and Capture card for monitoring externally with...
    When you get finished, simply choose File/Export/Using Compressor. It's recommended by many to NOT use any rendered media... i.e. trash your renders before you export the sequence to Compressor. This is done from the Tools menu (Render manager) just check on the sequence you're exporting there and trash the renders for it en masse.
    In compressor choose a 16:9 SD preset that is the shortest you can use... i.e. if your sequence is shorter than 90 minutes, use the high quality dual pass VBR preset for 90 minutes... Then import the resulting SD MPEG files into DVD SP and create your Standard Def DVD with them.

  • Unable to get Pr.Pro to play project.

    I am stumped. I am currently unable to play a project that I completed 1.5 weeks ago. The project is open, I ahve both the audio and video on the time line but when i press the space bar to play, nothing happens. I also imported a new project that i copied to the hard drive and same result. I ahve updated adobe prior to doing the first project so don't think that has anything to do with it. Haven't done much since. I did a recovery system to June 16, just to be on the safe side and nothing.

    Hello Leo,
    Just a few quick questions:
    In the Project Panel, if you Dbl-click on one of the Assets, used on the Timeline, does it open and play in the Source Monitor?
    Did you get any dialog boxes, asking "Where is file ____?"
    You are not getting any Media Offline indicators, are you?
    What are the specs. of the Assets on the Timeline?
    Thanks for that info, and good luck,

  • Imovie won't edit or play project

    Hi,
    I'm pretty new to Macs, but I am really struggling with this, and can't find any solution that seems to work.
    Basically, I've been editing a project in Imovie for a few weeks. Yesterday, I was editing and closed without issue, in the exact same way I had done for the last few weeks.
    Today, I can open Imovie, but my project won't open, nor will it play, either in the preview window or full view. In fact, it won't even allow me to open the project and see all thumbs.
    I've googled it, and the only suggestions I can find suggest I delete the preferences file or delete and reinstall imovie, both of which I have done, neither of which work.
    Does anyone have a working solution, as I am starting to get worried I will lost all I had done up until now.
    Thanks,
    James

    Hi James,
    The problem you are seeing appears similar to what others here are reporting (including me). However, in our case the project appears in Finder but is not listed in iMovie's Project Library.
    From your description, it sound like you can see the project in the Project Library, but it simply won't open. Is this correct? If so, it's slightly different to what we are seeing (or not seeing)!
    See my latest post on this issue here (where I've provided links to 7 other topics on this):

    Sorry I can't provide any advice as to a remedy for this very frustrating issue. Please provide feedback to Apple, as I've described in the above link.

  • Screen Bleed - Wrong Screen Shows Up When Playing Project

    I'm on Captivate 6.
    Creating a demo simulation with a lot of buttons that "Go to Next Slide" or "Go to specific slide.  Also have some auto-advance slides based on timing.
    When editing, screens look fine.  After adding some buttons and hightlight boxes, I then either PREVIEW (both in or out of browser) or PUBLISH (SWF / HTML5 / EXE) and when I play it back, I occasionally will get the wrong background or pieces of the wrong background showing up on the wrong slide.
    In one specific case, I took a screen shot of an application with a drop down box in it.   When I play it back, I see just the drop down, but it's superimposed on SLIDE 1.   But, as mention, in the editor, everything looks perfectly fine.
    I also have a auto-advance slide that moves forward after a half-second... when I play back and get to that slide, I see a portion of the top of another slide for about 1/4 second... then I see the actual slide.. .and then it moves forward to the next slide.
    There is no rhyme or reason as to why and / or when this occurs.   And I can sometimes be 100% fine, but then maybe I cut / paste some buttons / hightlight boxes from one slide to another, and then that slide (which was working fine before) might start having this issue.
    I'd like to know if there is a way to easily fix this.  It's making it nearly impossible for me to use Captivate to create these, what should be very "simple" demo simulations.

    While I never resolved this issue, I did find a viable workaround, better than "republishing several times" (and then having to re-verify every single screen in my demo was correct), which was initially the only way I could get around the problem.
    What I have found is if you do a "select all" slides (i.e. click on first slide and then CNTL-A) and then right click and "Mouse - Show Mouse" to show mouse, then follow that up with a right click "Mouse - Show Mouse" to hide mouse... save project and re-publish, that seems to consistently and completely take care of the bleed issue for that particular publish.  It's almost as if that does some sort of re-calibration of the entire project to "fix" any issues.  (Makes me wonder if "recalibration" should not be a menu option in Captivate that does whatever it is my workaround does to fix the issue?)
    Few comments about my workaround:
    I want the mouse hidden on ALL my slides, thus the "show mouse / hide mouse".  If your project requires the mouse to exist on all slides, do the opposite.
    On projects with many slides, this "show" and "hide" on all slides at once can take a bit of time to complete.
    Whenever I "show mouse", the default mouse timing many times lengthens my slide time from what I actually desire.  So the very first time I "show mouse", I go thru and manually size them all to 0.1 seconds.   Guessing there's probably an easier way to do this, but I got tired of always having to re-adjust my slides after hiding the mouse before publishing.
    If your project has mouse visible on some slides and not on others, I have not tried my workaround solution to that.  But I'd suspect you'd have to selectively choose slides (instead of CNTL-A) and then "show / hide" or "hide / show" based on whether or not you want the mouse.   On big projects, this could be annoying!
    I am attaching a screen print to illustrate my issue.  I've had two others in my company on different computers that experience this exact same issue.  I was a bit surprised to not find more "complaints" about this online as, at least for me, it's more than just a random happening.   I am publishing to SWF and HTML5.
    I have also noticed a similar thing occuring when using the "MEDIA" publish to an .exe file.  In at least one of those cases, my "hide / show mouse" workaround did not seem to work.
    At least for me, this was a workaround solution that made using Captivate viable for my needs.  Otherwise, due to my large number of projects with many slides, I would have had to investigate and change to a different solution.   The "republishing several times" option would have taken too long and also not have provided me comfort knowing my problem was actually fixed on every slide.

  • Bouncing Help: iTunes plays project with more reverb

    Hello,
    I just finished my project, and when I export it to the desktop and play it from the desktop it sounds great.  When I drag the song from the desktop into iTunes however, iTunes adds a ton of reverb and makes it sound really bad.  Why is this happening and how can I fix it?
    Thanks,
    Jeremy

    In iTunes, go to the iTunes>Preferences>Playback tab, disable Sound Enhancer and disable Sound Check.

  • Play back stops 10 seconds in when first playing project

    so when i first open a project and press play to hear it itll stop right when it reaches the main part of the song where all the instruments kick in.. itll say "error" or project overload. But when i play it from the beginning again it will play back just fine, every time. ??

    Hi PC,
    I have noticed this as well, especially on my system. Sometimes I have to hit play every two bars. It's like having a car that will only move after one has pushed it. Maybe ApplEmagic should add some 'prepare play' (=load buffers) key command.
    Is there any 'official' acknowledgement or justification for this?
    regards, Erik.
    Hi Erik,
    As far as I know there's no official word from Apple on this.
    There is this page dealing with System Overload messages.

    Logic's method has always been to free resources when the sequencer is stopped.
    VI's are shut down as are any FX plugins, after stopping Logic the CPU meter will eventually drop to zero. This was done early on and was a saving grace for many years as it allowed almost any computer with enough RAM to run Logic and still have a resonably quick machine (say for editing) when the sequencer was not running.
    Most, if not all other MIDI/Audio sequencers keep plugins and VI's partially active and as a result can quickly bog down underpowered computers. However, the upside is... when hitting play you don't get a bunch of VI's, FX plugins and disk buffers suddenly going from 0 to 160kph trying to grab a load of data, memory and CPU cycles at the same time.
    Personally, in this day of 8-core 3gHz machines Logic could change it's M/O and no one would ever notice.
    Just my opinion but the way Logic works has created several other small related problems that sometimes make it appear less than professional.

  • Play project on projector with MBP retina. Best way?

    I have a video project (Anamorphic DV with music) that will be shown in an auditorium on a projector. I want the best possible quality with least chance of problems. I'm just starting the editing, but want to get an idea of how I will present the final video.
    The auditorium is primarily used for live plays, but they have an AV crew that I will be working with on the day of the showing. I haven't met with them yet, and want to make sure I start this project correctly.
    For the showing, can I just connect the projector to my new MacBook Pro (Retina Display) using the HDMI port and play the project on my Mac from within FCP X? Would I just play it in the FCP timeline using full screen? Or do I select the projector somehow as a 2nd monitor? Or should I export the file as a full quality Quicktime movie? Is this better or worse than playing it directly within FCP? Less prone to problems? Would the quality be the same?
    Don't have any experience with this, and there will be a couple hundred people for this event, so I want to make sure I do this right! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks alot.

    Thank you Tom. I like the suggestions, but still a little unsure about the mechanics of a few things you mentioned.
    1) Mirroring: I see in my Displays control panel a box that says, "Show mirroring options in menu bar when available." Does this mean that we connect the projector to the HDMI port on my MacBook Pro Retina, then an icon will apear along my menu bar at the top of my display? Then I select "mirroring" from that?
    2) Deinterlacing: I have my project preferences set for 720 x 480 DV Anamorphic, because it was shot in SD anamorphic. I read that this is a typical resolution for SD projectors. I hope this is correct. I also set my project settings for 29.97p. Does this still require that I deinterlace the video? If it's set for 29.97p and not 29.97i, do I still have to deinterlace? If so, then in lieu of using software like JES Deinterlacer (which I'm not familiar with), can I just turn the field dominance to none somehow for the whole project? Whould this accomplish the same thing?
    3) Back to the project settings. Still unsure if 720 x 480 DV Anamorphic is the correct choice. I shot most of the video with a Canon XL2 set for 16 x 9. I also shot some footage using a Sony HDR-FX1000, which is normally an HDV camcorder, but I had the camera set for SD so as to match the Canon footage. Also, I shot a portion of one tape in HDV mode by mistake. Will all this footage be usable in the project? Do I need to transcode it? It appears that the transcoding to Apple ProRes 422 is grayed out. I think FCP X is rendering the HDV footage, because there are render bars over those clips I believe. I hope this doesn't cause problems. Any advice in this regard given the info I've provided you? Again, is 720 x 480 DV Anamorphic the project setting you would use if this is going to a projector?
    I hope you can give me your advice on these three items I am still unsure about. Thank you very much Tom.
