Playing QuickTime file burned to DVD Slow

Hello,
I have burned a 3gig quicktime file to DVD. When I play it from the DVD, it is stuttering, stops plays, stops. It is basically useless when played from the DVD play. This is on my iMac. When played from directly on my iMac it is fine.
How do i resolve this?
thanks

Hi, Xotol. The problem is not that the drive won't burn comments to DVDs; it's that you need to use a format for the DVDs that preserves all the Mac file metadata, including those comments. I'm not conversant with all the different DVD formats (I've only ever burned plain data DVDs), but someone who is (or the Toast manual) should be able to tell you whether there's a format you can select that preserves all Mac file metadata. A key factor probably is whether the discs you burn will be usedc only on Macs, or whether they need to be Windoze-compatible and/or play on standard DVD player devices. If either of the latter is true, the Comments field may just not be the right place to put your copyright notice. There's no place in a PC's file system for Mac metadata, and I have no idea whether a standard DVD player can read Mac Comments at all.

  • My MOV videos do not play when I burn a DVD using iPhoto.

My MOV movies do not play when I burn a DVD using iPhoto.  I can use the other method with my Mac to burn DVDs but the videos are not good quality like they are in my iPhoto albums.  How can I get better quality in the DVD videos if I am unable to burn a DVD using iPhoto?  I upgraded to the free Mavericks.

    Hi
Most common origin to this are:
Brand of DVD used - NoName, Memorex etc cheap brands might work as Data-DVDs - BUT NOT as Video-DVDs
Type of DVD used - I only use SL-DVD-R as they also playback on older DVD-players. DVD+R for newer DVD-players. Never ever DVD+/-RW. Dual-Layers usually creates more problems than Single-Layers
BURN SPEED - Very IMPORTANT factor - I never go faster than x4 - Normally I use x2
Material used - Video Codec, Photo and Audio file formats
Video-Codec: StreamingDV, AIC and HDV (I use)
Photo: .jpg - NO .bmp or other - all converted to .jpg first
Audio: .aiff 16-bit 48kHz or 44.1kHz (as on Audio-CDs) - NO .mp3, wma etc ailient formats - all converted to ..aiff 16-bit 48kHz or 44.1kHz first
Free Space: on Start-Up (Macintosh HD) Hard Disk - I never go less than 25Gb when doing Video-DVDs (for SD-Quality Video - if HD material is used 4-5 times more are a safe low level) (Other external Hard Disks - DO NOT COUNT as space here can not be addressed by Mac OS or iDVD for it’s massive use of .temp files)
Dusty DVD-burner Laser: I use a Cleaning DVD (no liquid but the one with brushes) from time to time.
Harmed DVD-burner Laser: Easy to do by burning more than three DVDs at a time - I let it rest for 30 minutes till next batch of three DVDs. If this happened - then only a costly repair will help. It will not heal by it self.
OBS: There are more than one Laser in the DVD-Burner so other functions might work OK as Playback CD/DVDs and even burn CDs. Still being broken.

  • FCP Video files burn to DVD, Only gets audio when played

    Hi,
I know this has been asked many times, but, it's late at night and I'm looking for a quick answer please.
I burnt ideo clips, which I have exported thru FCP, and burn them straight onto a DVD thru the Finder.
The person who got the DVD said he only gets audio from the clips, so, he can't see them.
Have many ideas of what I should do, but, what is the most common solution to this problem?

#48 - Cannot view DVCPRO HD or HDV or ProRes on my computer.
Shane's Stock Answer #48 - Cannot view DVCPRO HD, HDV or ProRes QT files on your computer.
The DVCPRO HD, HDV and ProRes codecs only comes with FCP. If your computer does not have FCP installed, it cannot view these quicktime files. It doesn't matter if it is a Mac or PC, without FCP installed, you cannot view these files.
If you need to view ProRes material, you can download the ProRes decoder (mac and windows compatible) for ProRes
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/AppleProRes_QuickTime_Decoder_1_0_forWindows.
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/AppleProRes_QuickTime_Decoder_1_0_forMac
If your footage was captured as DVCRO HD you can buy the Calibrated DVCPRO HD decoder:
    http://www.calibratedsoftware.com/QDVCProHD.asp
HDV, XDCAM? Calibrated has you covered too:
    http://www.calibratedsoftware.com/QXD.asp
If you have MXF files from a P2 camera and you need to view the footage on a computer without FCP, you can download P2CMS from Panasonic:
    http://www.panasonic.com/business/provideo/p2-hd/downloads-and-updates.asp
Or you need the other party to compress the footage into a format your computer can play, like H.264.

  • Playing VIDEO_TS files without a DVD drive.

    Hellp,
Im looking for a way to play my ripped (with mac the ripper) DVD VIDEO_TS files. I know that you can do this through the mac DVD player, but my ibook doesn't have a DVD drive, so the player will not start. I ripped the files onto my G4 Tower and wish to read them from an external HD. How do i get around DVD player needing a DVD drive? other than getting a noew CD-Drive that can read DVD's, what are my oprions? thanks

You could hook it up to the G4 via FireWire Target Disk Mode, but I'm guessing that's not the solution for what you want to do?
You could get an external drive that will read DVD's.
You can burn the DVD's to multiple CD's so they will play in the iBook (maybe, assuming the files are compatible with software on the iBook).
There is no way to make DVD player play DVD's without a DVD player. Sorry.

  • Problem with iPhoto files burned to DVD

I just installed my iLife '06. I want to back up my digital photos on DVD's. I've tried both DVD-R and DVD+R to burn to. They burn through completion stating when finished, that the DVD was burned successfully. When I re-insert back into the CD player, no disk image appears, and the CD player doesn't engage whatsoever. After 30seconds. it's ejected.
My intention is strictly to back up the photo and related data files. I'ld like to actually eventually delete them altogether from iPhoto, to free up some space...once I know I've got it all on a disk.
It plays commercially purchased DVD's just fine, as well as Burned CD's.
    My profiler shows I have a Pioneer DVD-RW DVD-1060
    DVD-Write -R, -RW +R, +RW.
How do I determine what is really wrong, and correct it?
(I originally posted this in a different forum and it was suggested that this forum would be more appropriate for my question. Sorry for the redundancy)

    As of yet, no.
I just attempted to burn a DVD using a DVD-R. I selected a goup of photos from iPhoto and drug them to a burnfolder on my desktop. I selected: file>burndisk.
After the "burn" was completed, the DVD disk image with the burnfolder title was still on the desktop. I ejected it and then re-loaded it. Again, there was no response from the CD drive (no sound or movement), no disk image appeared on the desktop, and no disk image appeared on the Disk Utilities window which I had kept open to monitor it. After 30 seconds the disk drawer opened on its own.
Considering how inexpensive a new and upgraded optical drive is, maybe I should just replace it, though I would still like to discover what the cause this current problem is, regardless.

  • Safari 6.0.1 will not play QuickTime Files

I am having problems with Safari 6.0.1 playing back QuickTime Files. I reset safari and cookies and it will still not play QuickTime movies. To the best of my knowledge, QuickTime is working with all other components of the computer.
Is there a way to redownload Safari or repair it...
I could not find a place on Apple's webpage to redownload it.
I am using Mac OS 10.7.5 on a MacPro (2008).
Does anyone know how to resolve this problem?
    -M

From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extension tab.
If there are any installed, turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari.
There are several extensions such as DivX that can prevent QT content from streaming.

  • Files burned to DVD on Windows XP not visible on my iMac

Of eight zip and PDF files burned to a DVD+R on Windows XP using Nero, only about half are visible when I put the DVD in my iMac.
The DVD is 4.7 GB. There is plenty of leftover space.
When I take the DVD back to my pc at work, all of the 8 files are still there.
    Thanks for any help.
    best,
    Mac

Is there anything in common with the files that aren't visible?
No. Some zip and some PDF.
I don't think that Mac OS X is able to understand Nero files without help. There seems to be a version of Nero for Mac OS X that might help. I also found a mention that Toast can convert Nero files to .dmg format.
I never had trouble before, so I do not think that nero is the issue.

  • Airtunes won't play Quicktime files from iTunes?

Last night I made a playlist that had MP3's, Quicktime files, AIFF files, and AAC files. I then set iTunes to play on Multiple speakers, so it would play on my computer speakers and my stero via Airtunes. All of the songs played fine through my computer speakers but the Airtunes refused to play the QT files. When a QT song came on, the stereo went silent, it would then play again when a non QT file came on. Anybody else have this problem?

  • Playing Quicktime files.

If we're able to watch trailers on the Apple website (H.264), does this mean that if I post such a file on my own website I will be able to play it from my iPhone.
    What about in an email?

Safari can play Quicktime videos and MP3's via quicktime from Safari. So yes you can post to your site. Nothing special really needed (except proper encoding as you know).

  • When playing QuickTime file, I get sound but no picture

Someone provided me with some Quicktime files. Regardless of what program I use to play them, (iMovie 6, QuickTime Player, MPEG Streamclip) I get the sound but there is no picture. I'm thinking that maybe there is a codec that I don't have. I really need to get these files to work with iMovie 6. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the suggestion, Kirk. They sent me a sample 10-second file in H.264 and it works. I think the picture quality is diminished--not too bad, though. Which codec would have the best quality and still work in iMovie6? Keep in mind I will be editing the video and then exporting it to iDVD. Thanks.

  • How to burn a slideshow to DVD for anyone to play. I burned a DVD and can play it on my mac, but will not open in windows

Need to know how to burn a DVD that can be viewed by any DVD player.  I created a DVD from a slideshow created in iPhoto.  I can open it on my computer, but it will not open or even be recognized in my home DVD player.  I asked a friend to try it on a Windows computer and he could not open it.  What's the key to creating things for friends & family that do not have Mac anything?

  • Safari 5.0.5 Unable To Play QuickTime Files, and Less Sites Can Be Opened

Not a day goes by, where I have to once or twice switch to Firefox to open quicktime files, or in some cases, open the site. I understand that each website has to be set-up in a certain way, but, it's, sort of ironic, not to be able to open a QT(Apple)file with Safari. This would happen every once an awhile, now it's a daily occurrence. These are always new pages(To me), not something visited before. Are fewer and fewer sites supporting Safari? Just curious.

    Thank you for your reply.
From what I can determine after accessing this website that requires JRE 1.4.2_12, the registry has been updated by JRE 1.5.0_10. All the clsids for all JREs have been updated to point to c:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_10\ssv.dll.
    Example:
    CAFEEFAC-*0014-0002-0012*-ABCDEFFEDCBA\InprocServer32 points to c:\Program Files\Java\jre*1.5.0_10*\bin\ssv.dll.
I've seen a few postings where setting the EnableSecureStaticVersioning stops JRE 1.5.0_10 from dynamic versioning but I am unable to get that to work. One posting said to set it in HKCU and HKLM but that does not work either.
