Playing songs in order

I'm doing a quiz and one round is famous laughs. I have created a playlist with 10 laughs and i want to play them in the same and correct order each time but they insist on shuffling each time I play the playlist.
How can I ensure they are played in the same order in each time?
Thanks
Rich

I have to ask, no offense intended. Is shuffle on? [See page 94|http://manuals.info.apple.com/enUS/iphone_userguide.pdf]. Also note that "Shake to shuffle" may be activated, where if you jostle your phone it will shuffle up your music.

  • Need help: playing songs in order, strangewindow message, upgrading I-Tunes

I have 2 situations I hope someone can help me with:
1: PLAYING SONGS IN ORDER; WINDOW MESSAGE
I have CDs of music that when I load them onto my pc laptop the song names don’t come up—each song lists as “track 01” “track 02” etc.
When I try to play the album thru I-Tunes on my laptop, the songs won’t play in order. i.e. ALL the “track 02”s will play before going to “track 03,” then ALL the “track 03”s will play, etc. So I made a playlist of each CD.
Now when I try to play the Playlist, I get a window message that says, “The song “Track 01” could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?” I can choose ‘yes’ or ‘cancel.’ YES takes me to folder selections. I find the song and click on it and then it plays.
There must be an easier way. I don’t want to search for each song one at a time in order to play an entire CD in order.
    2: UPGRADE
I need to upgrade. I have I-TUNES 7.0.2. I went online to apple.com and couldn’t find any upgrade option, so I clicked on “download I-tunes”. I got a window that says “download complete.” But how do I tell if it’s really installed? Where do I go on my computer to see what version number it shows?
    Any help is appreciated,
    Carolyn in Las Vegas

    2. Help->About iTunes
    1. You have done something that has confused iTunes about the location of the files in its library. Without knowing what happened, it's hard to make a specific recommendation, but if you moved your files around manually, move them back, and then, if you want to change the location, do it only by setting it in iTunes preferences and then using Consolidate Library.

  • Problem in playing songs in order - First Generation shuffle

I've been having a problem over the past few months, when trying to play my songs in order on my ipod shuffle (first generation). When I do, it suddenly stops in a song and freezes (also flashes green on and off). I switch it off and restart it, but the same problem occurs. I've tried the 5 R's and lost count the amount of times I've had to restore it.
Anyone have any suggestions as to what the problem could be?

This was not the first site I encounered in my first two hours of searching . . . the other sites said that I could do this and that but did not provide the links to actual instructions.
When connected .. the Shuffle appeared as an icon on the desktop, and two itunes windows were launched.
I could not disconnect in a manner that satisfied the MAC even after ejecting from all three places. However, after connecting and disconnecting about 20 times, setting up an Apple ID 3 or 4 times, and randomly clicking various parts of the itunes windows for a few hours, I finally was able to delete and reload songs and actually have the Shuffle play more than two. I can now forward to more than one song at a time.
Hopefully, my instructions above will assist future Shuffle users or at least make than feel better in their random quest for useability. BTW - I did find a teeny tiny manual with lots of redundancies. After much squinting, I ascertained that this manual instructed me to click things that I did not have visible on the screen so it was not useful.

  • My iPhone 4 is not playing songs in order even though shuffle is off. How do I stop this from happening?

I have the shuffle option off on my iPhone 4 but when I listen to an album it does not play the songs in order. How do I stop this from happening?

This is the control DaVBMan is talking about.  Tap the shuffle control until it shows white for shuffle off.

  • 6th gen ipod won't play songs in order?

My 6th gen ipod, The little square one,
I have playlists, but it does not play the songs in order - so why even have a playlist? Did something in the updates to iTunes change this? Plus there are no settings either in my iTunes which is up to date on my iMac (Maverick 7.1.1) which allow my to assk for this when syncing nor is there an option on sad little gen 6th. (I soooo regret I wore out the battery on my gen 5 nano).
    Anyone?
    Thanks!

    Hey esmeglass!
Is it possible that you simply have shuffle turned on while playing your music? Try using the user guide for your iPod, found below, to determine if shuffle is turned on and how to turn it off:

  • IPod does not play songs in order - iPod Shuffle 1GB

When I drag songs to the iPod it adds them to the end of the list and then I sort by song name. When I play them on the iPod they are played at the end. When I hook up the iPod they are listed in the right order but that's not how they are played.
Does anyone know why this is happening and how to get around it?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Not playing songs in order (premium and not on shuffle)

Hye guys, long time lurker first time questioner.I have spotify on my iPhone 6 64 gig running iOS 8.4 and spotify version 3.6.0.923. In the last few days I've noticed that spotify doesn't always play albums that are in 'Your music' inthe correct order. I am a premium member and shuffle is turned off on the device so it would usually just play from the song I've selected until the ned of the album. The application is not doing this currently. It may play several songs in the correct orderbut after a few songs it'll just start playing in the wrong order. Is anyone else seeing this issue?

    Hello there!
What you are experiencing might be a bug.
Have you tried closing the app and its process and then reopening it?
    Does restarting your phone help?
If nothing works, maybe a clean reinstallation will do it:
On the home screen, tap and hold the Spotify icon until it shakes.
Tap the X symbol on the icon.
Hold the Home and Power buttons down together until the Apple logo appears.
Open the App Store then search for and install the Spotify app.
Keep in mind that a clean reinstall will delete all data stored by Spotify, so you'll need to sync your offline music again.
If nothing fixes the issue, then maybe the next Spotify update fixes it.
    Hope this helps! ♫

  • IPOD not playing songs in order when not set on shuffle

During play of music.  My IPOD will make a noise and then change songs.  There is no other problem with the unit.  Does anyone have a suggestions as to what the problem could be?

I have used these two programs to get the data out of the ipod, Xplay and Floola. The former is commercial, the latter is free but xplay has a few more options.

I understand Winamp (it has a free version) does sort of the same but I have never had the chance to use it.

  • Itunes not playing songs in order

    Hi,
Ever since upgrading to 11.0 iTunes won't play an album. I doubleclick to play the first track of either an album or in a playlist and then after the song is done it doesn't move on to the next song. I have to go back and doubleclick again. Also, clicking the "next" button doesn't work either, it just stops the song. The shuffle is not on neither is the repeat icon.
Is this a bug that needs to be fixed? Because at this moment I cannot listen to an album in sequence on my computer and that seems like pretty standard stuff that a media player should be able to do.
When in my Music library, I click on a song and then click next and it takes me way down the alphabet, it will play that whole song and then it will go to another track further down my library. And then back up again to the second song it went to and then just loop between these 4 albums. I have 50 GB of songs in my library so howcome it's jumping bewteen only 4 of them??

Have you tried checking all the songs you wish to play? Normally the collumn for placing a check is the first on the left. This worked for me.

  • Playlist is not playing songs in order

I recently synched my ITouch with my IMAC.  After the synch process, I noticed when playing a playlist on my ITouch that the songs were being played at random.  I did not press shuffle.  I did not have this issues when I synched the ITouch previously.

Make sure that Shake-to-Shuffle is turned of in Settings>Music
Confirm that the Shuffle is turn off ion the Now Playing screen. Tap the crossed arrows icon on the Now Playing screen until it is white for no Shuffle
    Next
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Sometimes when I play songs in Itunes by double clicking on them, Itunes will place the song as the first one on the album.  It will chnage the order of the songs on the album, and I can not switch them back to the correct order.

Sometimes when I play songs in Itunes by double clicking on them, Itunes will place the song as the first one on the album.  It will chnage the order of the songs on the album, and I can not switch them back to the correct order.  This onloy seems to happen when I double-click on the song to play it in itunes.  If I just hit play, this doesnt happen.  As a result, I have several albums now in which the songs are in the wrong order.  Its very frustrating, as this error then transfers over to my ipod every time I sync it.  When I choose the info. for the songs, it has them correctly listed (i.e., it lists the songs as being #1 of 19 on the CD, for example).  But then the song will have placed by Itunes as #5 of 19 for whatever reason.  Itunes does not do this every time, but does it with enough frequency to be maddening.  Any thoughts?

The problem of tracks becoming de-linked between iTunes and the music files in your iTunes music folder happens for different reasons - this seems to come up fairly commonly in this forum.
The solution can be to locate each song in the iTunes library, as you mentioned - or, but wait, before I get to that...
trouble finding the original track in your iTunes music folder? maybe look for it under compilations, or if not using the 'group compilations preference' then look in the folder under the songs artist name, but what song artist name iTunes uses depends on what you have in the metedata tag spot for album artist or song artist. Any varyation in artist name spelling, in the menu item 'get info' metadata for any selected individual track will cause iTunes to create that as a separate artist folder in the library, even names like 'various' or any difference at all (even the word 'the' can change where in your iTunes music folder a track gets placed by iTunes). You can try to use the finder function of find file (finder munu item outside of iTunes) to locate hard to find items.
Back to how to re-link any de-linked tracks .
There may be scripts that can help re-link de-linked music files - or, at least provide you a list of such files, Scripts are easy to install and use...
at Dougs Scripts, there is one called iTunes Track CPR that might work
    http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=itunestrackcpr
or, if you just want a list of de-linked tracks, go to
    http://dougscripts.com/itunes/
and find the script called List MIA's, this will create a text file listing all de-linked tracks

  • My ipod is not playing the correct order of my songs in playlists

my ipod is not playing the correct order of my song order in my playlists.  it plays random order of playlist songs

You may have tapped the Shuffle button (looks like two arrows crossing path) in Blue.  Tap it once again to turn it off.

  • Creative MP3 player plays songs alphabetically instead of in track order

I use a Creative Nomad Zen 20GB USB 2.0 MP3 player with iTunes 7. Lately, songs listed in the correct track order on a given album in iTunes show up listed and get played in alphabetical order when copied to the Zen.
Any way in iTunes around this? I've been using XNJB, but it seems like it should be do-able in iTunes - especially since I wasn't having this problem in previous versions.
I've searched the forum but seem to have missed what is probably a common issue. Please point me to the right thread if this is the case.
    Thanks, R.

  • Ipod shuffle not playing songs in a playlists order

I am having a problem with my ipod shuffle after the 7.2 update. when I make a playlist for podcasts to play in a specific order, i copy the podcast to a new playlist and click on the left most column on the numbers. This is supposed to tell the shuffle to sort the list by the numbers and play them in order.... WELL its not doing that, when I sync it to the ipod shuffle the playlists keeps rearraging the podcasts or songs in what ever order it deems. I DO NOT have the shuffle button turned on in itunes nor on the shuffle itself. and in both the ipod shuffle contents tab and the playlist that i dragged over to the shuffle both number columns are marked... so there is no reason that i can see for it not to play in order... Is anyone else having this problem? and if so any ideas on how to correct the problem. THanks for your possible help...

well it should be any problem but incase ther is!!! try visit nearst apple retail/ service centre to do the trouble shooting
