Playing songs on iTunes

After a while of playing songs on iTunes, my screen switches to the fireworks screen saver and it gets locked and I cannot switch it or do anything, unless I power down my computer. The music continues to play and I can skip and pause songs but that's about it.

Sometimes when I play songs in Itunes by double clicking on them, Itunes will place the song as the first one on the album. It will chnage the order of the songs on the album, and I can not switch them back to the correct order.

It will chnage the order of the songs on the album, and I can not switch them back to the correct order. This onloy seems to happen when I double-click on the song to play it in itunes. If I just hit play, this doesnt happen. As a result, I have several albums now in which the songs are in the wrong order. Its very frustrating, as this error then transfers over to my ipod every time I sync it. When I choose the info. for the songs, it has them correctly listed (i.e., it lists the songs as being #1 of 19 on the CD, for example). But then the song will have placed by Itunes as #5 of 19 for whatever reason. Itunes does not do this every time, but does it with enough frequency to be maddening. Any thoughts?

The problem of tracks becoming de-linked between iTunes and the music files in your iTunes music folder happens for different reasons - this seems to come up fairly commonly in this forum.
The solution can be to locate each song in the iTunes library, as you mentioned - or, but wait, before I get to that...
trouble finding the original track in your iTunes music folder? maybe look for it under compilations, or if not using the 'group compilations preference' then look in the folder under the songs artist name, but what song artist name iTunes uses depends on what you have in the metedata tag spot for album artist or song artist. Any varyation in artist name spelling, in the menu item 'get info' metadata for any selected individual track will cause iTunes to create that as a separate artist folder in the library, even names like 'various' or any difference at all (even the word 'the' can change where in your iTunes music folder a track gets placed by iTunes). You can try to use the finder function of find file (finder munu item outside of iTunes) to locate hard to find items.
Back to how to re-link any de-linked tracks .
There may be scripts that can help re-link de-linked music files - or, at least provide you a list of such files, Scripts are easy to install and use...

Wont play songs on ITunes

I cant play songs on Itunes because it says File cant be found and a lot of the songs like this have a ! next to them. Can anyone help?

I'm not quite sure why you think you need to listen to a song in order to change the wrong info.
You should just be able to right click on any song and select "get info" then click on "info" and then change the tag information.

Audio cuts out at random while playing songs in itunes

While playing songs in itunes audio will frequently drop out completely across the entire system. The song will still be in play mode but the track progress indicator doesn't move. There's no slowdown or spinning beachballs, activity monitor doesn't indicate any processes hogging resources, and there are no other noticeable effects other than zero audio output. The problem resolves temporarily if I pause itunes then click the volume up/down keys and click play again. Any clue as to how I might resolve this annoying issue?

Hi. What OS X release? (10.x.?) iTunes? On this G4 1,25 single now connected I got 10.4.11 and iTunes 7.0.2 Works fine.

Playing songs in iTunes

Does anyone know if its possible to play songs in iTunes and not have it scroll back up to the next song. For instance, if I am playing a song at the top of my library and have scrolled down to the bottom of my library is it possible for it to go to the next song without it flashing all the way back up to the orginal song. Hopefully my question makes sense.

Set Party shuffle to play from "Music" and right click on a song and select Play Next in Party Shuffle. The songs will play in party Shuffle leaving you free to browse your main Library.

Sorry, but if you see the "connect to iTunes" screen on your phone, the only option is to restore, backing up the phone is not possible at this point, even importing the photos might not work anymore.

On pc and mac it's fine but on all my iOS devices, the album artwork, title and artist info is missing; however, the song plays. Hi, I have this problem too. I've uploaded photos of my granddaughter to iCloud Drive on my 5 year old PC and can see the content on my PC at iCloud .com - though the system does not allow me to see minimised photos, just lots of numbered, blue rectangle icons. I spent over 2.5 hours with Apple Support yesterday and they could NOT resolve the issue in any straightforward manner, though did suggest I go through the same time consuming uploading process placing the same photos in the Beta version of 'Photos' available at iCloud.com. What a cumbersome system. Why hasn't Apple offered an iCloud Drive app (free of charge) so that once content has been placed in iCloud Drive it can Bev retrieved on any iOS device, as Apple suggest. I had a similar problem: I wanted to synch my playlist to my iphone. I like to have my playlist sorted by genre. But under each genre, albums are not sorted by the track numbers. This is a problem, especially when I am listening to club mixes when the DJ smoothly transitions from 1 track sequentially to the next one. Under the properties of each audio file, the Track Numbers and Disc Numbers are already there.
My perfect solution was to turn On Sorting - Sort Album under View>Show View Options. Then, select all the songs in that album (Shift click, Cmd click, etc) , and Edit multiple item information (Cmd I). You will see Info-Video-Sorting-Options buttons. Click on Sorting. Then, under Sort Album, Enter the name of the album. Then OK.
You should now have the playlist sorted by Genre, then each album individually sorted by track numbers. On your playlist you should see, if you scroll right, the column added called "Sort Album".

Computer freezes when importing CDs or playing songs through iTunes

Hi! I have been searching for a solution to this problem, but have not had any luck. Whenever I try to import a CD to iTunes, my computer freezes. Just recently, my computer started freezing when I play songs through iTunes. I have noticed that some people have similar, if not the same, problem and any suggestions of things that may help are greatly appreciated!

I also have had this same issue. In reading your reply, I've also saved my CD diagnostics....they are included below. I'm fairly convinced that my problem lies in the drive. It is causing WM Player to lockup as well. Please help....thanks.

IPhoto slideshows will no longer play songs from iTunes since I upgraded to Mavericks. In fact trying to use a song from iTunes crashes iPhoto. Any suggestions?

Having a lot of problems with iPhoto since upgrading to Mavericks. Wondering if there's not enough memory in my version (I was unable to update iMovie because my system is incompatible with the new version.) A slideshow will play but silently even though there appears to be a song from iTunes attached. Two songs where I've had this problem were not purchased from iTunes but downloaded from personal CDs. Very frustrating as I simply cannot figure it out. And getting direct help from Apple either via Chat or Phone has become near impossible as you try to wade through the roadblocks of links upon links. I tried to create a new slideshow and pull in songs but the same thing happened. The aforementioned songs play OK on my iPad just not on myiMac - it's a 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, so aging not well perhaps! Any ideas welcome.

OK, answering my own question..well, via Arleen 259 and Old Toad apparently courtesy of keysandfood! (Copy of Old Toad post below. Thanks to all...IT WORKED!
In iTunes go File -> Library -> Organise Library -> Reorganise Library.
Then quit and restart iPhoto.
Credit to user keysandfood who figured that one out.

I can no longer play songs on iTunes using Win 8 PC

When I click to play a song from iTunes on my Windows 8 PC it just appears to hang. I can no longer preview songs from the iTunes Store either, no sound comes out and the bar stays on 0:00. This was working fine in the past, not sure what changed. Now I'm afraid to try and synch my iPod and iPhone to the PC since as of now these other devices are working fine. Help!

Update: After having problems playing audio and video using several different browsers and apps, I realized that the problem was probably not iTunes or Apple related. I rebooted several times, to no avail, but the last reboot inexplicably seemed to do the trick. Everything is working OK again, at least for now. Weird but I'll take it!
