Playing songs with "Shuffle" on

Hi everyone, I like playing my playlists with the "Shuffle songs" on to listen to differnt songs all the time, but there are certain songs that should always play together in order, Like on The Beatles "Abbey Road" (Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End). Is there a way to program the iPod to always play those songs in order no matter what mode you are listening to your iPod? I am just curious. thanks

It should play in sequence if you use Shuffle with the Albums option engaged.

  • ITunes Match sometimes skips / plays songs with exclamation marks

Using iTunes Match (v10.5.3) from my MacBook (OS X 10.6.8) I synched about 60G of music located on an external hard drive connected to my home-based AirPort Extreme base station into Apple's cloud. It works great from my iPhone and the iMac in my remote office, but occasionally when I connect with my MacBook I get these confounding exclamation marks between the song list number and the selection check box.
When this happens and I attempt to play a song with an exclamation mark sometimes iTunes prompts me to connect to the hard drive connected to the Airport and when I don't the exlamation points appear. Other times I can play the songs, but only if I individually select them; otherwise it skips all the songs with exclamation marks until it finds a local song (or recording) (i.e. without an exclamation mark).
Sometimes restarting iTunes gets rid of the exclamation marks, sometimes it doesn't. I've noticed that I often have this problem when I upload new music to the Airport-connected hard drive. But sometimes it happens without me uploading.
Through trial and error I'm starting to get a sense of what's happening but it still feels kind of arbitrary. Can someone explain what's happening?
    Many thanks in advance.

The problem is that iTunes thinks the external HDD is not connected so it can't find the actual song files. So the problem you need to solve is why is the external HDD not connected.

  • URGENT PLEASE HELP: iTunes Will Play Songs With No Sound.

Hello all. I recently did the following and significantly screwed up my iTunes:
-Tried to move my directory to an external hard drive.
-This didn't work, so I then had to reload my iTunes.
-I did this by doing the standard copying the .xml library file to the desktop, deleting the old library files and importing the new .xml into the iTunes.
-However, I now have music in my iTunes, but when I click on files, they'll play but with no sound. No exclamation point comes up next to them to signal they're missing, but just no sound.
-Tried uninstalling and then reinstalling the latest iTunes. Still nothing.
I also tried dragging a random song into iTunes to see whether it was just a directory mix-up still, but no dice. Right now, the directory for my iTunes is Macintosh HD:Users:name:Music:iTunes:iTunes Music.
    Please help!!!!

Well, that could be, but before thinking of an hardware issue, first check all possible software settings.
    Try this:
In System Preferences>Sound there are two volume sliders.
Set the Output volume about halfway. Now move the Alert volume slider just a little bit. This normally will invoke the Mac to play the selected alert sound.
    Still no sound?
Can you connect a headphone to the PB?
If yes, does it have sound?

  • 60Gb iPod won't play songs with bitrate 80kbps or less

    Hello,
My 60Gb iPod will no longer play songs encoded with bitrates of 80kbps or less. I think the problem started after I upgraded iTunes to v7.0.2(15) and the iPod to v1.2.
If I try to play one of these songs the iPod screen goes black, then the Apple logo appears, and after about one minute the main menu reappears. This happens every time, whether I select the songs in the "Songs", "Artists", Albums", etc. categories, or if one of these songs are encountered in a playlist.
It also happens whether the files have been bought on the net from eMusic, encoded in iTunes from my own CDs, or from any analog source. I have a lot of old lo-fi jazz recordings which I have encoded in mono to save hard disk space, and these songs played OK before the upgrade.
There seems to be one exception, however: Podcasts seem to play OK.
I have tried the soft reset on the iPod (the "menu" and "select" buttons for 6 seconds).
    Any others having this problem?

Pity, I needed the bass boost in the headset.
Hope this will be fixed in the next upgrade, then.
yeah, it's not an optimal workaround.
perhaps try keeping an eye on the following document:
Articles modified in last 7 days
if the "mono mp3" document shows up in it again, perhaps check to see if a better workaround (or a proper resolution) has been announced.

  • My iphone still plays songs with lower quality instead of 256kbps

I enabled iTunes match on my iPad and iPhone 4S. However, it already
has my songs already synced on them and when I play songs it plays at
lower quality than at 256kbps as claimed by Apple.
One option is to delete all the songs on the iPad and iPhone. But that
will require me to delete every song individually. How do I solve this
    problem?

When you turn on iTunes match on your iOS device it should warn you that it is going to delete your songs.  You will then need to redownload the ones you want to listen to from the cloud.

  • IPod 2G playing music with shuffle will only repeat just one song

When I start playing music on my iPod it will repeat just one song.

Do you have the repeat feature turned on?  It is the racetrack-like icon on the left side of the screen below the scrubber bar.  Tap the icon to cycle through the variuos modes (off, repeat play list, repeat one song). Thus is covered in chapter 4 (Music) of the Users Guide.

  • Can't play songs, it shuffles playlist then doesn't do anything

I have an Iphone 4s with the latest version of iTunes, and I have a bunch of songs in my library on iTunes I've synced over multiple times. Every time I sync it over, whether the songs are synced one by one, in a playlist, or my entire library at once - none of the songs will play on my phone. Before the last update to iOS I was able to play them, then I had to sync some new songs and it hasn't worked since. They do play in my itunes, by the way.
The songs are listed in black, with a stop button next to each one, instead of a play button. If I click on a song in a playlist, it shuffles through all of the songs without me being able to pause the shuffling or hit play on any of them. It shuffles through the list in like 10 seconds.
I have tried reinstalling iTunes, unsyncing and resyncing countless times, restarting my phone, etc. It displays the songs the same way if I cli

    any suggestions?

  • [SOLVED] mpd refuses to play songs with unicode in the filenames

    Hi,
I've been using MPD+Sonata for a while now (two great pieces of software), unfortunately I just tried to play some songs stored in files with unicode characters (i think they're unicode, the ones with the accents, like 'è') and they refuse to play.
I modified my mpd.conf file to set filesystem_charset to both ISO-8859-1 and UTF-8 (restarting mpd and rebuilding the DB each time) and then it simply refused to add the songs to the database. Furthermore, when I uncommented the line again, MPD still won't add them to the database.
    Any ideas what's going on?
    Thanks in advance!

ah... ok! it seems that the problem is deeper than that. I have my music stored on an NTFS drive and it would appear that these files have disappeared, as far as linux is concerned. I'll move the thread to something more appropriate
And that was fixed by a remount. Sorry for wasting everyone's time! :-/

  • Cannot play song with cloud icon

I have a bunch of songs in my iTunes library that have a cloud with a down arrow next to them.  I have seen on this discussion board that these songs are in the cloud and just need to be downloaded to the device (in this case, my Macbook), but when I click on the song/icon, nothing happens.  The song won't even play.  How do I fix this?

The only way that music that was not directly purchased from iTunes would be in the cloud is via iTunes Match. If you do not have Match, then the only music that would have a cloud next to it would be the purchased music. You indicated:

there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to which songs are "stuck in the cloud"... some were itunes downloads, some were imported from cds, some were downloads from other music services
If you have music imported from CDs or downloads from other music services showing a cloud next to them, you have iTunes Match....

  • Why do i hear no sound when playing songs with headphones and without?

all of a sudden i can't hear any song i play, using the headphones and not using the headphones. I've done the hard reboot three times, turned on and off my itunes icloud, then back on. Still no sound when playing music.
    Any solution?

i wish it were that simple (mute button)
Everyone I work with is having the same problem, presently Apple's Music Match is not working.
I certainly hope they will be able to fix this as soon as possible.

  • TS2771 Why does my 4th gen touch stall when playing songs with Bluetooth connectivity?

Why does my 4th gen. Touch freeze or stall when connected via Bluetouth?

    Try:

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • How can I play songs alphabetically and not shuffled?

My new Ipod Nano only plays songs in shuffle mode, even when I turn the "shake to shuffle" option to "off"
I just want to play them alphabetically, any suggestions?

I just double-checked my Nano, which is also new, and with the Shake to Shuffle turned off, if I just start playing from the "Songs" option , it plays in alphabetical order. Is that what you are doing?

  • When I play my Ipod shuffle 3rd gen there's a moment when I start hearing interference until it stops playing, when I turn it off and on again it starts playing from the first song all over again, and once it sounded like the music was slowing down.

My Ipod shuffle 3rd gen starts playing songs with some kind of interference until it stops playing, when I turn it off and on again it starts playing from the first song all over again, and once it sounded like the music was slowing down.  First I thought it was the earphones, but I exchanged them for newer ones and so far its the same

You may want to do a Restore on the shuffle in iTunes.  The Restore button is on the shuffle's Summary screen in iTunes.  This will erase the shuffle, re-install its software, and set it to default settings.  If it's a software or data corruption glitch, the Restore should fix it.  After the Restore, reload or resync your songs, and try it again.  As a test, you may want to initially select a small number of songs to put back on the shuffle.

  • Play ends when song ends - Shuffle and Continuous Play not working

I'm pretty sure I did not install an update prior to this starting. Since the problem began, however, I uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled to see if that would solve the problem and it did not.
I typically play songs, on shuffle, from my main library. When I open iTunes shuffle is automatically selected and I click on the play button to choose a random song. Since this past thursday when I click the play button nothing happens. I have to manually choose a song to play. Once the song has ended iTunes does not choose another song (if on shuffle) nor does it play the proceeding song on the list (if on normal play). In order to play another song I have to choose another. Once that song ends I have to select another and so on.
I have checked the settings and I don't see anything that could be effecting the way iTunes plays the songs.

    *Figured it out*
Somehow, all of my songs where not checked....

  • Spotify free not working at all on iphone (says I need premium to play radio or shuffle mode)

I have spotify free on my computer (mac v. 10.9.5) and it is working normally. However, when I try to use spotify free on my iphone 5 (iOS 8.4), it says "premium only" even when I try to play songs in shuffle mode, or the radio, or playlists in shuffle mode. What's the point of downloading this app if it won't play anything at all on the free version? Please advise.
