Playing Videos Continuously--Shuffle Mode

I bought about 40 videos thru iTunes over the past few months. I am trying to figure out how to play the videos one after another with out having to manually play the next video--similar to building a play list of music files and having songs play one after another. When I try to play videos in a play list using the shuffle feature, i get an error message that reads "apple tv cannot play the file selected." When I called apple support to figure out why this was happening they told me that apple tv cannot play videos in succession they way I want to. Is this true? Is there a way around this? It seems like a fairly simple feature to implement. Having to select the next video everytime is silly.

Yes I'm afraid this is true
Is there a way around this?
Sorry, none whatsoever

There are many that agree with you and have it at the top of their lists for feature requests, I'm not sure whether it's an oversight in the current version of tv software or whether it's built in protection against the possibility of having the tv play video 24/7.

    - Do you have shake to shuffle turned on: Settings>Music
    - Do you have Shuffle turned on? It is the crossed arrows on the right side of the Now Playing screen right below the scrubber bar. Tap it until it white.
    Next try;
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Spotify free not working at all on iphone (says I need premium to play radio or shuffle mode)

I have spotify free on my computer (mac v. 10.9.5) and it is working normally. However, when I try to use spotify free on my iphone 5 (iOS 8.4), it says "premium only" even when I try to play songs in shuffle mode, or the radio, or playlists in shuffle mode. What's the point of downloading this app if it won't play anything at all on the free version? Please advise.

Hey there! Have you tried reinstalling Spotify on your iPhone? On the home screen, tap and hold the Spotify icon until it shakes.Tap the X symbol on the icon.Restart your iPhone.Open the App Store then search for and install the Spotify app. After that, go ahead adn log in with your username (not your email address) and password; or through 'Log in with Facebook' if your account was created through Facebook. Let us know how it goes!

  • Playing all videos in shuffle mode

Can I make a playlist of all music videos that I can play in shuffle mode. I want the next video to play after the 1st one is done without having to go back to the video page and select another video. I could do that on my Generation 5?

The only way to do this is with a 'smart playlist', and currently there is a bug in the software version 1.1, and 1.1.1 which corrupts or doesn't sync smart playlists properly.

  • Why will iphone not play video in landscape mode anymore

I am a HUGE purchaser and user of iTunes Music Videos and on my iPhone, I was happily playing them in playlists and watching them in landscape orientation as a video playlist.
I was quite upset when I bought my first iPad and found that it simply would not support this basic (for me) functionality.   But I searched and found a music video playlist app and purchased what SHOULD HAVE BEEN included functionality on the iPad.   Seriously, if the iPhone could do this basic operation why shouldn't the iPad, which is much better suited for video playlists with the bigger screen?
Now, after updating to iOS7, you've broken the functionality even moreso.   Imagine my joy, surprise and sheer level of cursing and swearing when I turned my videos into landscape mode and found some dickbag has decided I should see album covers instead of my video in full screen on the phone.
So, Apple, the "We sell devices so that we can also sell the media" company,   why are you screwing with something that should be basic and intuitive on the phone and ipad?
I, and I expect everyone else, expect to open the music app, go to the music videos playlist automatically generated in that app (BY your programmers) and then be able to play the videos from the video playlists you allow me to create - my own playlists in both portrait and landscape modes.
So please fix this ever-increasing pain in the ***.    I will not be purchasing any more videos (And yes, check my history, I am quite likely in the top 5% of purchasers of music videos) because you are slowly removing the intuitive methods for playing them.
    David Patrie

A revolutionary A7 processor with 64-bit architecture, and none of those bits are smart enough to figure out "hey, maybe if my owner is listening to a video in the Music app and switches to landscape mode they're more interested in seeing the video larger, not unrelated album art thumbnails. Let me temporarily borrow the landscape view logic from the Video app."?
I hope they fix this at least by iOS 8. It's not logical (let alone user friendly) to exit out of the Music app and go into a separate Video app just to see a music video in landscape. The ironic thing is the Video app forces videos to be landscape – as if the logic it follows is that anyone watching a video really wants to see it in landscape – but yet that logic gets kicked off the boat when the video digits cross the river over to Music app land.

  • Can't get iPhone to stop playing albums in shuffle mode

I open my albums on iPhone and start playing them but they are always in shuffle mode. The only option at the top is the shuffle mode. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thx

While a song is playing, go to the Now Playing screen. Next, tap the album cover.  Now tap the criss cross arrows to enable or disable Shuffle. If the arrows are blue in color, Shuffle is enabled.  You can tap the arrows again to disable it.
Another place for accessing the Shuffle option is at the top of any playlist.
There's also  “Shake to Shuffle”. This setting will shuffle your music if you shake the device while a song is playing. You can access this setting by going to Settings > Music and changing Shake to Shuffle to On or Off.

  • ITunes starts playing album in shuffle mode?

I haven't used iTunes in awhile, mostly been listening to music on my iPod. When I pressed play, I started to realize that the opera I was listening to didn't make much sense, and looked up, and noticed that it had started in shuffle mode, does iTunes do this now? I have shuffle off, yet it started in shuffle anyway?

Sorry, let me clarify. I'm not shuffling the songs on the iPod, which would be a random order every time. I've created a paylist within iTunes of about 30 CD's, in which I've shuffled those songs in iTunes. So that playlist is the same list of songs everytime, even though I've shuffled them. That list will stay the same until I reshuffle within iTunes.

  • IPhone4s will not play music - continuously shuffles

My iPhone4 will not play any music.  When I select a song, it goes to the screen for the song to play and it immediately goes straight back to the list of songs.  If I hit shuffle, it just continously shuffles, shuffles, shuffles, then goes back to the list of songs.  I have cut the phone on and off numerous times and it still continues to do this.  I have tried tapping the album art and that doesn't work.  I have turned off shuffle and that doesn't work.  I do not have shake to shuffle selected in my settings.  Help!

    Hi mimibrown5,
In my experience, the songs that are skipping may not have transferred over to your iPhone correctly. I would advise you to uncheck the "Sync Music" checkbox in iTunes, and apply the changes (so there is ultimately no music syncing to your iPhone).
Once you have done that, recheck the "Sync Music" checkbox, and apply the changes once more. This will instruct iTunes to completely remove all music from your iPhone, and then copy the files once more. If you have a large amount of music, this initial sync may take a while.
If the above does not resolve your issue, see the following articles:

  • After upgrading to Mountain Lion it's not possible to play videos in Fullscreen Mode

    Hello everyone,
after upgrading to Mountain Lion on my iMac (27 inch, Mid 2011) I got the problem, that every video or movie in full-screen mode jiggles after a while. I'm using my Mac as a TV with Elgato EyeTV - and usualy I use it in full-screen mode.
A complete new installation from scratch didn't solve my problem.
If the problem occurs, the processor idles ans the hard-disk activity is low.
Is there anybody out there, who can help me?
    Regards,
    Stephan

If the issue only occurs when watching TV (using Elgato) then it's an issue on their side. Try a browser window and if can view the browser in full screen mode then that proves the point. You can also create another user account, log into that account and see if the issue is still there. If it disappears then you have an issue in your normal user account that needs to be tracked down. If the issue persists then your issue is global.

  • How do i get my iPod vid to play videos continuously and not one by one plz

Hi, can someone please advise how do i get the iPod to play the videos one after the other like when playing songs. I have tried going into video settings but it does not help. I did manage to get it on cont. play once last week sometime but i think this was a fluke and i cant remember what i did. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks D

If you create a video playlist in iTunes, add a few
videos to it then transfer that to your iPod, then
when you access the video playlist on your iPod it
should play all the videos one after the other.
Hi, I think i solved it i just pressed the reset button and went back into mus vid playlist and it worked bu i was scared it might of reset the ipod back to factory sttage but it never. Thanks anyway will try your way next time.

  • Can songs be made to play together in shuffle mode?

Some songs are intended to play together like "Golden Slumbers" and "Carry That Weight" or "Moving in Stereo" and "All Mixed Up" and it drives me bananas when you get the first but not the second!
Is there any way to make it so songs play back to back in shuffle like they do when you listen to the album in order?

    See the answer here.

  • Cant play in shuffle mode

I have my shuffle for just about a year, all of a sudden I cant get it to play in the shuffle mode . The songs only play in order and if i turn it off it starts from the begginning.. ANY ONE ELSE HAVE THIS PROBLEM, PHONE SUPPORT WONT HELP BECAUSE OVER A YEAR...GEEZE JUST BY DAYS TOO...

There's probably no help for your switch problem. It could be somre foreign object, of course, and you could try blasts of compressed air or suction, but don't expect much from that. The switch might simply have worn out.
As for the other problem, stop turning it off. Just Pause it when you're done; it goes into a powersaver mode pretty quickly after that and uses very little (essentially none, for all practical purposes) battery power while in that. You'll have to press Play once to wake it up, then again to make it play again, but it will pick up where you left off — all else being equal.

  • ITunes freezes when playing video.

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. Let me start by saying I've seen many others complain about this with mostly no resolution.
To elaborate, when initiating any video in iTunes (be it a movie, TV show, music video, or iTunes Store preview), the application immediately hangs. No errors -- iTunes just stops responding and can only be closed by killing its process. I've tried all the solutions people hash out time and again to no avail. This has been happening since iTunes 10, and ever since I've been playing all its videos through QuickTime (which works perfectly).
In Safe Mode, however, a black box appears briefly (as if the video's about to play), before a Windows "iTunes has stopped responding" prompt comes up. Not only that, but I also get two error logs in Event Viewer:

I don't know how helpful these logs are, but I've never seen anyone post anything similar when reporting this issue. Microsoft's link in the second one's header tells you to install a "newer" version of iTunes 64-bit even if you have the newest one (and I've done it with no improvement). In one post, iTunes wouldn't play video for somebody until they were told to uninstall Klite Codec Pack. This was the only time I came across this suggestion, and, having Klite, did it too, but with no improvement. iTunes still hangs when trying to play video, it crashes "properly" with a Windows prompt when trying to play video in Safe Mode, and QuickTime works fine (which I guess is my only solution).
Some insight from Apple would be appreciated. This has been happening since iTunes 10, so I consider the problem to be on iTunes' end rather than my system's, which has by and large been a constant the whole time.

Codec packs are notorious for causing iTunes problems.
Try searching c:\windows\SysWOW64 for files with Quicktime in the name.
    There should be just two:
    Quicktime.qts
    QuicktimeVR.qtx
If there are any other files or folders, try dragging them to the desktop ot any temporary folder.
    Does that make any difference.
After doing that, do you have the latest Quicktime installed, if not update it.

Earlier versions of Quicktime can upset iTunes.
