Playlist/Album not playing

I created a playlist to contain an entire album. No matter what I try (changing the settings in 'get into) my iPod will play only one song and stop. It won't play the album through.
This does not happen in iTunes, btw - when I am using the playlist from my iPod and playing through iTunes, the album plays fine.
This is driving me nuts.
I have experienced numerous odd bugs since upgrading my iTunes/iPod and I REALLLLLLY wish that Apple would allow for reloading of old software as I didn't have this problem before I upgraded, and this includes nuking and reloading my iPod several times.

anybody?

  • Music playlists do not play in order

Music playlists do not play in order. How do turn off that function and get playlists to play in order?

In the Music app in iOS6, white is still off, but on is orange, for both the shuffle function and the repeat function.  As before, the repeat widget is a three-state toggle, with two on states - a plain racetrack for repeating the album or playlist, or a racetrack with a smaller circle containing a "1" superimposed on it for repeating a single track.
I don't know what happens if both suffle and repeat are on, maybe it creates a hole in space-time.
By the way, I tapped on the artwork many times before the additional song controls appeared.

  • Ideas on Why Some Playlist will not Play?

Some of my playlist will not play when I attempt to click the play button in any of the following situations:
    1) List/Grid/Artist View where the Play Button is next to the playlist title - does not work
    2) Place the playlist in "Grid View" and select an album in the playlist and then push the play button - does not work
    3) drag play list to play status window and it loads into the "up next" and then a click of the main play button - works but an annoying dialogue window pop up on clearing "up next" a lot of dragging and clicking
Tried duplicating the playlist with same set of songs and it behaves the same
Tried creating a smart playlist with generally the same songs "Christmas Genere added in the year 2011" still not playing the playlist
I can go to to "Albums"  browser instead of "Playlist" browser and select one of the albums that was in the playlist and the "Album" play button doesn't work either. I can play individual songs but not the album?
I also just noticed that the song are "dimmed" or "greyed" out?
    Why is that?
    Some playlist work fine.
Thanks in advance for any help.

    Checkmarks!
Glad to have them, just have to remember when I use them!
At the end of Christmas last year unchecked the Christmase genere so they wouldn't show up in the DJ and other dynamicaly generated/smart playlists.

  • Itunes 6; Playlists will not play

I recently upgraded to Itunes 6.0; looks like a mistake.
My playlists will not "play"; after the first song plays, by double-clicking a song on the playlist, itunes stops playing once that song is finished. It does not matter whether it is set to repeat song or repeat playlist; it simply stops after one song.
Any help will be appreciated! I have a christmas party coming up and I desperately nneed Itunnes to work properly!

It may not seem obvious, but are the songs 'checked'?
Unchecked songs play when doubleclicked, but iTunes will stop when the song finished.
You can 'check' (and uncheck) all songs in a playlist at once by command-clicking on a checkbox.
    Does this help?

  • Playlist songs not playing in order

All of my playlists are no longer playing songs in order. I don't think I hit shuffle. I deleted the music from the iPhone and synced them all again, but still not playing in order. The songs are in the correct order in iTunes. Any thoughts?
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

I was having the same problem and just found an answer in these forums.
You have to be playing a track (song or podcast) in the playlist to make the change. Tap on the album art to bring up the scrubber bar. Then tap on the shuffle icon on the right side to turn off shuffle.
Seems to work for me so far.

  • Some albums not playing on iPod Touch

    Hi.
Some of my music from my iTunes library is not playing on my iPod touch. Only the music with album covers are not playing. Strange.
I have tried to delete it all and reload the music, but no luck. Any help?

Try a restore from backup. If still problem try a restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

  • Radio Playlist does not play with Photos

I have created a "Radio" playlist and synced to my Apple TV (Playlist containing internet radio). It works perfectly as long as I hear it as "music", but as soon as I choose that playlist to be played in combination with Photos, it does not play (while photos are being shown). Any idea?
    Alex

    Can't say I'm surprised really.
We didn't really have internet radio playlists until a few months ago.
It should be straightforward to add, but I doubt it would be a high priority addition.

  • Random Saved Songs/Albums not playing

About a quarter of my saved songs and albums are not playing back on desktop spotify, Windows 8.1. This is not a sound settings issue, as other albums are playing fine. These songs/albums are not grayed out, they are still officially on spotify. I click play, and the play button switches to a pause button, but no sound comes out and the track time does not progress. I have double-checked my firewall and sound settings and performed a clean installation three times. After the first clean re-install, I was able to play one of the songs that had been broken, but testing a different track still failed, and then the original successful track was broken again too. It appears to be a random distribution of tracks, and not specific to any one artist. These tracks play without error on the Android app.

Well I figured this out on my own- it turns out all of the songs I was having trouble with were songs I also had locally in iTunes, and Spotify was failing to play the local copy. I disabled everything in "Show Tracks from..." and now everything is playing normally.

  • Album not playing (The Gold Album: 18th Dynasty)

The album just came out several days ago, first day everything was working fine, I was able to listen to l the songs as much as I wanted. This morning I tried to play the album and no song would play and it would show no songs in the album, I even added them to my playlist and they still don't play or show up, but if I try adding it again it says I already have it in the playlist. Right now I'm trying to play the album and only a few songs are showing up and playing. Anyone know how to fix it? Really irritating, for me paying the cost of premium and not getting the quality I pay so much for.

Hello: Just a couple of quick questions, what app version are you running and what is your system the app is running on, and also what is your current listening region? In the meantime you might try and log out of the desktop app, and then exit the app. If you are using a windows system double check in the task manager that no instances of SpotifyHelper.exe is running if there is highlight any there are and then click on End Task, and now log back into the app. This will allow the app to reload and refresh the app cache and maybe force the app to refresh correctly. If that does not work, holler back, you could have a corrupted Spotify app cache then, and you might need to do a clean uninstall reinstall to get things working correctly again.

  • Playlist is not playing songs in order

I recently synched my ITouch with my IMAC.  After the synch process, I noticed when playing a playlist on my ITouch that the songs were being played at random.  I did not press shuffle.  I did not have this issues when I synched the ITouch previously.

Make sure that Shake-to-Shuffle is turned of in Settings>Music
Confirm that the Shuffle is turn off ion the Now Playing screen. Tap the crossed arrows icon on the Now Playing screen until it is white for no Shuffle
    Next
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Smart Playlist does not play new songs.  Any clue?

I created a Smart Playlist that referes to another Smart Playlist.  This other playlist selects randomly songs that were last played before a certain date.  (So if a song from that playlist is played, it is automatically replaced by another one).  The newly added songs do not seem to be played at all.  I need to restart iTunes to do so.  Any clue?

In principal, putting a Smart Playlist into another Smart Playlist will work. However, if the rules of the Playlists are conflicting, that may be why you have an issue. First of all, can we be clear on exactly which Playlists are doing what?
Are you saying that songs recently added to your iTunes Library are:
    not in the first Playlist,
not in the second Playlist but are in the first one, or
that they are in the second list, but simply don't play.
or that songs, newly added to the second Playlist are there, but don't get played? In this case, how many songs are in the list?
    Can you take screenshots of the two playlists, or list them here. In this screenshot for example;
...this Playtlist refers to five other Smart Playlists. The resulting Playlist is usually over 300 songs. So I don't always know if a song in the list ever gets played, simply because there are so many. I do know however, that the list plays a random selection of my songs and gets updated successfully when I sync the iPod with iTunes.
If you list the Playlists here (rather than screenshot them), can you also mention the top left tick-box section; "match any/all of the following rules". It changes according to the fields below it.

  • Refresh Library? Albums Not Playing.

I did an upgrade to a MacBook Pro and did the Migrate from my old Mac. All my music is on an external drive.
When I open iTunes all of my music shows up but some of it won't play, whereas some of it will. When I click on the track nothing plays. It seems to be completely album based (in other words either an album plays or it doesn't).
My computer is authorized, as this problem is also with ripped CDs as well as iTunes Music Store stuff.
If I delete that single album and then drag that album back over to iTunes from my external music library then everything works.
I've got hundreds of albums and would rather not do it manually for all the non-working ones. Is there a way to refresh the library some how, or what's the simple solution?

That is wacky. So, exactly what happens when you try to Get Info on one of those tracks, or when you try to play it? Does iTunes produce an exclamation point and tell you it could not find the original file? I'm not familiar with a situation like yours where iTunes thinks it knows where the file is but it's got the wrong kind of file. Kind of like a goat adopting a duck, or something.
And where are the "correct" song files? Does the iTunes library have the wrong file location information but the song files are where they should be, or are the actual files in an unexpected place, or both?
Unfortunately, even if you can answer those questions, I would know of no way to quickly relink the correct music files, outside of starting over, as you suggested.

  • Album not playing fully in iTunes

I downloaded a complete album, played in many times and suddenly all I can play is 1:30 of each song. Please help, it's one of my favourite albums!

Check the info for some of the songs. In the options tab, see if the song has the stop time checked and set to 1:30
You can also check the files on the hard drive to see whether they play fully in quicktime.

  • My playlist is not playing properly

Hey everyone, I hope someone can help me out with a problem I am having with my iTunes playlist. Every time I play my songs they aren't clear...it is like the song is skipping or there is static. Anyone know what's up with it?
      Windows XP

You may want to check your soundcard output in QuickTime. See this post for directions on the process: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa;jsessionid=aXxb7IZbMDPmI_4E?messageID=814726&ft=y&#814726
And this Article: iTunes and QuickTime for Windows: Songs and other audio don't play correctly
This post may also be helpful: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=351805
And before you do any of the above, make sure that you have all the recent Windows Updates from windowsupdate.com. Make sure you have the latest drivers for your particular sound card, and make sure you have the latest DirectX installed. Any of these could also cause this problem without QuickTime being the culprit.

  • Playlist or not play list

    Hello,
I have an iphone and an iPad. What I want to do is create a playlist and then automagically create the <everything else> playlist. In other words, create a play list for the phone, and generate a playlist that is the rest of my music that will load on the ipad. Is there a way to do this in iTunes or other managers. Or is the format of the playlist such that I could write something myself that would iPhone = platlist and iPhone = !playlist.
    Thanks in advance.

Can't you do it with a smart playlist? Create the iPhone playlist. Then the iPod playlist would simply be everything that isn't that playlist. Unless I am misunderstanding your question.
