Playlist impoirt not saved

I keep getting a message that says "Playlist or Songs not recognized and cannot be saved." I have all the songs on my ipod from the last time that I synced it. However when I add new songs to itunes, it only reads the new uploaded songs and wants to erase the other files. When I import the old library to itunes it then gives me the above error message. Is there a way to fix this?

When I connect my ipod it launches the ipod configuration window.
I check my playlists to copy to my ipod but it says that "Can't find the iPod" when I click "apply".
The iPod appears on top of my playlists but not on my desktop.
What can I do to save those settings so it can copy my music back to my ipod?

  • HT1766 is there a way to restore playlists that were created on your iphone and not saved in your iTunes?

I just plugged my iPhone 5 into my computer and for some reason iTunes decided to erase all of my music and playlists off of my phone. the music being wiped out isnt a problem because i can just resync it from my library on my computer but i had playlists on my phone that i used the phone to create that are gone. They werent saved on my itunes because i used my phone to create them. is there anyway to restore these playlists or atleast see what songs were on them? i tried a whole phone restore and of course it brought everything back fine but the music was still gone. I had over 20 playlists and i don't remember what songs were on each, i can't even imagine beginning to manually recreate them. This is beyond frustrating, someone please help!

if the playlist was not backed up and then got deleated then their would be no way to get it back i know it is frustrating and anoying im sorry this has happened i would back up my phone at least once a week to secure your stuff

  • Preferences Not Saved...

When I create new playlists and try to enable them to be sent to my iPod under iPod Preferences, I get a message "Preferences were not saved for the iPod because they could not be found." Then when I Eject the iPod in iTunes, my iPod stays in "Updating" condition, even though it's icon is no longer on my desktop. I have to manually reboot the iPod!
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you,

    BJ:
It sounds like your iTunes preferences file is corrupted. Try closing down iTunes, disconnecting your iPod, and removing all of the itunes plist files (look in ~/Library/Preferences) and put them on the desktop. Relaunch iTunes and reconnect your iPod.
You'll probably need to reset all of your preferences, since they will go back to the default settings on relaunch, but the prefs should now "stick."
Let us know how this works out for you.

  • Lion not saving settings, iTunes not working, iPhoto not repairing

having a ton of issues and not sure if it's upgrading to Lion, updating iTunes or something else causing the problem.
    When I'm logged in as the main user getting a ton of problems including;
    1)  no matter which box I check or uncheck or which windows I close before shutting down, every time I log in as my usual user it opens about 20 windows including about 6 files in Excel which I've already closed, said I wanted to delete (they were recovered), etc.  Other windows that open are firefox, settings, a video I started watching about a month ago, etc
    2)  applications are frequently crashing
    3)  nothing will synch with itunes.  I plug in the iphone, ipad or touch and it recognizes that it's there and then proceeds to do the rotating rainbow thing for ever (I've tried leaving something plugged in overnight) or until I force quite
    4)  iphoto indicates that the library needs repairing - repairing does nothing, rebuilding does nothing, repairing permissions does nothing, removing and reinstalling does nothing.
5)  most settings are not saved.  things like changing the Login Items, 'Restore Windows when quitting...' option do not save but things like file sharing options does save.
    what I've tried that didn't work;
    1) reinstalling Lion
    2) reinstalling itunes
    3) reinstalling iphoto
    4) reinstalling itunes with iphoto removed
    5) tried quitting applications with option-command-Q (they still reopened when I re logged in)
    5) also tried to manually delete the 'saved application states' but can't get to the folder (can find the library folder but it says the saved application states folder does not exist)
the only thing that works is setting up a new user and logging in there.  Most of the problems seem to go away but all my files, itunes library, etc are under my other user.
so, anyone have any ideas?  if not, is there an easy way to transfer all my files, itunes library (hopefully including playlists!), etc?
    Thanks for any help!

Sounds like something malicious or malfunctioning in your user.
What you can do is use the Grouping or other tag feature to tag all your songs in certain playlists, this will apply to the song file itself.
For instance I have music grouped like this:
    Popular 00's Medium Hits
    Popular 90's Hard Hits
Classic Rock 80's Very Hard Hits
    Blues 70's Medium Hits
So I can create Smart Playlists containing the keywords in the Grouping.
No you don't have to go through all that. Something to think about in the future when you switch machines or need to transfer to another user.
You can simply transfer your entire iTunes folder into the Music folder of the new user via the Users/Shared folder, open a copy of the
    iTunes Music Library.xml
In TextEdit or another text program with "find and replace" ability.
Change all instances of your old user name with the new one, save and relaunch iTunes, it will load this file and have the correct pathname/user to locate your files so the playlists remain intact.
Once your up on the new user, delete the infected or corrupted one, as that what it seems to be occuring.

  • Settings NOT saved for the iPod, because- not found

I've a lot of regular changes to make when updating my music library on my iPod. But when I'm in the middle of doing so - that is using TAB "Music" (which "Sync Music" enabled) - and checking all relevant playlists, an error appears:
"The settings were not saved for the iPod “<my iPod name>” because it could not be found."
I don't know what to do because the only related articles all dates back to… 2007! That's 5 years ago!!!
Of course I tried all the solutions of 2007, and when I do other errors occur like:
"iPod sync failed" OR… my iPod simple disappears from the list (and even DEVICES doesn't shows up anymore in the left pane).
    THANKS for helping me.

Can you post a link to the article you are referring to?
I assume you have tried using a nother USB sync cable to help rule out the possibility of a faulty one?  What about plugging the iPod into a different USB port on your Mac?
It might help to remove any other USB devices you have connected to the Mac. Then reboot the Mac as well as your iPod by pressing and holding both the Select/Center and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear. Then try to resync.
Could you provide the full text from the error messages you are referring to?
Make sure you are running the latest version of iTunes (10.6.3).

  • Moved my music - playlists now not working

    Dear All,
I've just gone through a fraught time during which I've cloned my system, got rid of HD partitions, and restored my cloned OS. One reason for doing this was to shift all my music from an external HD to my Mini.
However, being an inconsistent (and in hindsight, rather stupid) human, I think I buggered around with the iTunes library files (ie Trashed them) before copying the music over.
In a second attempt, though, I think I must have put some of them back in place, because iTunes has now remembered my playlists, of which I have quite a few.
The music in my library is fine: everything seems to be in place, referenced correctly, and plays.
Unfortunately, the same can't be said for my playlists, every track in which is not located, showing an exclamation mark, offering the option to locate each track manually.
Is there a way to 'bless' the music in my playlists automatically, or am I now in the position of making them all again by hand?
    Thanks,
    Matt

    Hi,
Thanks for the response, and for what seems to be a good workflow, which I'd love to have tried.
I wish I still had the clone to work from, but because the whole clone/restore fiasco cost me five or six days of brain-fry, I think I was just glad to see the end of it! A classic case for some Schadenfreude...
So, I fell at the first hurdle in your advice, and being as I couldn't be sure which copy of the .xml file I had, I didn't continue with the rebuild.
So I used two methods together:
I had managed to save most of my playlists as .xml files within my personal data folder (missing a couple, and a few out of date compared with changes I'd made to the original files - genre changes, for instance), but I wasn't sure the new location of the files would affect the import, or not, and not all playlists had been saved.
Hence the need for the second approach: print playlists, sorted by album for shuffled playlists, or in order, where appropriate.
This helped maintain the order of the tracks in ordered playlists, so that when adding the missing tracks back, they could be placed in the right order. The paper version was compared against the re-imported version, and missing tracks were then added back in. Of course, saving and overwriting the exported playlists was the final step.
Some artwork has gone missing along the way, but all in all, it's going to be about four hours work - not too bad, considering how bad it might have been.
As a final rub of salt in the wound, and confirming the fact that these things come in threes, I've also got a 42404 error in iTunes, which stops me playing my iTunes Store purchases. I'm now backing up my whole library to disc (all fourteen DVDs of it!), before uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, and checking QuickTime version...
Wish me luck & thanks again - glad somebody got some good help from it - good links to Doug's scripts.

    When i omit the line OutputStream out = new FileOutputStream(saveFile);
    and write only
    ImageIO.write((RenderedImage) bufferedImage, outExtension,saveFile);
    //out.flush();
then saving the image even in "png" also fails.

Sub Transaction type determines the subcontracting attributes and determines the accounts for the posting while doing a sub contracting transaction.
Sub transaction type is also used for determining the accounts while
    doing excise removals.
Within CIN the account determination is based on the transaction type.
So normally you can have a single set of accounts for Excise
utilization. In case you need alternate account determination for
handling various scenarios you can define sub transaction types. The
sub transaction types and corresponding account assignments needs to be
    maintained in CIN customization
To make customization of Sub Transaction type, goto
<b>SPRO --> Logistics General --> Tax on Goods Movements --> India --> Account Determination and check whether you have assigned second and third one, viz. "Specify Excise Accounts per Excise Transaction and Specify GL Accounts per Excise Transaction".</b>
    Check
<b>Taxes on goods mvnt--indiaaccnt determination---specify excise accnts for excise transaction...maintain the sub transction type , ip or 01,
    against the appropriate ETT</b>

  • Non admin user - changes not saved (Safari settings, system prefs, etc.)

iMac, 2 users, one is administrator and other is standard user. Recently, in the non-admin user account, it has become impossible to make any changes. For example, adding an application to the the Dock, after logging out and back in next time, the application is not in the Dock any more. Also, making changes to the prefs in Safari, changes are not saved.
I noticed this after installing FireFox v4. I installed it as admin whilst in the non-admin users account. However, I don't believe that the installation of FF has anything to do with the problem, it just highlighted it. I've checked the permissions for the various directories that hold prefs info such as user/libraries/application prefs/etc. etc. and also Safari prefs. Nothing I can see that has changed in system prefs.
Any ideas on what has caused the problem (kids are known to fiddle from within the non-admin account) and any ideas on how to fix it?
    Thanks

    Hi PPRuNe,
You could try making the standard user an Admin too. To do this, make sure you are logged in to the standard user, go to System Preferences > Accounts > Standard user (you may have to unlock the padlock) > Allow user to administer this computer
This will allow changes to be made without being prompted for a password all the time.
However, if you had Parental Controls on, they probably won't work on an admin account because as an admin you have complete control over a computer, so the computer thinks there is no point in having the controls turned on. And if the kids are known to "fiddle," just think carefully!
    Hope this helps you.
    Chris.

  • Microsoft Outlook 2010 The delegates settings were not saved correctly. Cannot activate Send-on-behalf-of list. You do not have sufficient permission to perform this operation on this object.

I am trying to assign delegation to a user and I receive the following message.
The delegates settings were not saved correctly.  Cannot activate Send-on-behalf-of list.  You do not have sufficient permission to perform this operation on this object.
We are using 2010 for the server and client.  There are only specific mailboxes that this is happening for after being migrated from Lotus Notes.  The user can use their mailfile fine however it is just the delegation that appears corrupted somehow.
I'm not sure how to fix this.  I have checked the access through the security tab in ad and that looks fine.
    Any help would be appreciated.

I did some more digging and I solved it.
    This would be the solution:
In Active Directory Users and Computers
    -Click on VIEW
-Click on ADVANCE FEATURES  (this is important otherwise you won't see
the complete list in the next steps)
    -Click on the USERS container
    -Find the problem user's account
-Right mouse the account and click on PROPERTIES
    -Click on the SECURITY tab
-In the top box, click on the SELF account
-In the bottom portion of the screen make sure the READ PERSONAL
INFORMATION  & WRITE PERSONAL INFORMATION  should both be checked for
    ALLOW
If you can compare the permissions for 'SELF' with another user you probably should set them accordingly to be safe. I noticed that for the user where setting delegates (SOB) did
not work, more than those 2 permissions were missing.
    Good luck!

  • Sent Messages are not saved in Sent Mailbox

It was working correctly but suddenly all my sent messages are not saved in the Sent Mailbox. I follow all the Mail Help instructions but nothing seems to work. Hope that someone can help me. I asked for help on december 14 but it was not helpful

The mailboxes drawer contains all mailboxes under In, Drafts, Sent, Trash and Junk (if you have Junk Mail set to automatic).
If you have a .Mac or IMAP type account, you also have an account named icon for the .Mac or IMAP type account at the bottom of the mailboxes drawer. It is named by the Account Description you provided/entered for the account under the Account Information tab for the account preferences.
If you select save Sent messages on the server for a .Mac or IMAP type account, the account's Sent mailbox will be available under the account named icon in the mailboxes drawer along with all other server stored mailboxes.
To open the account named icon for your .Mac account to reveal the server stored mailboxes including the account's Sent mailbox, select the black triangle beside your .Mac account icon in the mailboxes drawer pointing it down.
Select the account's Sent mailbox and at the menu bar, go to Mailbox > Use This Mailbox For and select Sent.
If you deselect store Sent messages on the server for the account preferences, the account's Sent mailbox will be available under Sent in the mailboxes drawer and you can't use "Use This Mailbox For" for mailboxes stored locally on the hard drive. It can only be used for .Mac or IMAP type account mailboxes that are stored on the server.
